  • dell vostro 1310 with nVidia 8400M display problem

    Hi everyone, i hope someone can help me with this problem. I have a Dell vostro 1310 Laptop with 32 bit vista and a 8400M nVidia chip. Recently i have noticed performance issues when my girlfriend was playing Sims 3, and then one day i turned it on and all i got was a thick white line at the bottom of the screen. i heard the OS start up so automatically i thought it was a damaged screen, but i had doubts so i plugged it into an external display via the vga port. it worked but everything appart worm the OS choice menu looks distorted beyond belief. even the bios screen had multicoloured lines running down the screen. The resolution is non existant, the screen only shows a 256 colour pallette and is heavily distorted. i barely managed to get to the device manager where i found the gfx card with an exclamation mark. does anybody have suggestions? should i buy a new mobo or are repairs possible? thanks in advance

  • Outlook Shared Mailbox automatic calendar export

    I am aware that the shared mailbox feature is an exclusive microsoft feature in exchange and does not work on any non microsoft products. I am trying to create a workaround so am looking for a way to automatically export a calendar by schedule or any other means. Does anybody know any good Outlook plugins that would do something like that? it must export either in csv or iCal or some kind of other readable format.

  • Can't connect to samba using openVPN

    I'm fairly new to using VPN. For a home project I'm running a OpenVPN server. This server runs within a network 192.168.2.0 and subnet 255.255.255.0 I can connect to this net work using the ip range 5.5.0.0 I guess the subnet is 255.255.255.192, but I'm not really sure about that. When connecting to my VPN network I can access the server via 5.5.0.1 and I can see the samba shares created on that machine. However I'm not allowed to connect to the samba share.   • Chef bash resource not executing as specified user

    I'm writing a Chef cookbook to install Hubot. In the recipe, I do the following: bash "install hubot" do user hubot_user group hubot_group cwd install_dir code <<-EOH wget https://github.com/downloads/github/hubot/hubot-#{node['hubot']['version']}.tar.gz && \ tar xzvf hubot-#{node['hubot']['version']}.tar.gz && \ cd hubot && \ npm install EOH end However, when I try to run chef-client on the server installing the cookbook, I'm getting a permission denied writing to the directory of the user that runs chef-client, not the hubot user. For some reason, npm is trying to run under the wrong user, not the user specified in the bash resource. I am able to run sudo su - hubot -c "npm install /usr/local/hubot/hubot" manually, and this gets the result I want (installs hubot as the hubot user). However, it seems chef-client isn't executing the command as the hubot user. Below you'll find the chef-client execution. Thank you in advance.   • Send command through PuTTY automatic login

    I am using the following to login automatically to a remote server and then run commands listed in a commands.txt, like this: C:\path to\putty.exe -ssh adreese.ip -l user -pw Password -m C:\Path to\command.txt commands.txt contains the following: wakeonlan -i broadcast adress Macadress However, when I try to do so a new window for PuTTY appears, but it closes and exits instantly after login. As a result, I cannot see the output of the command(s). After a several tests, it appears that the command is not execute , cause my computer doesn't "wake on lan". I don't understand what's going on here ? I cannot use the plink.exe program cause I cannot make connection with public key ( too much distant site for doing all the registration keys in putty ) Can someone help me with this ? Or can i use another program to make ssh connection and send command with script from a windows os? Edit : I also try to make a bash file in the distant server with the same command and execute it from the session like this : C:\path to\putty.exe -ssh adreese.ip -l user -pw Password \home\user\script.sh Ihave the same problem... Need help please : /

  • asus 1215p cannot get the 1366 x 768 resolution

    Hi everyone, im a little bit stuck. I had a windows 7 starter installed on this netbook, it wasn't that great so I installed windows 7 ultimate. everything is OK apart from the screen resolution. it doesn't let me choose the optimal 1366x768 resolution and defaults to lower quality, in fact it doesn't even list it. I have tried drivers from Microsoft, Asus and Intel and still no joy. Any suggestions? It has the Intel 3150 Graphics Media Accelerator Much appreciated :)

  • VM using a secondary graphic card

    Hi everyone, at the moment i have a dual monitor setup on my main PCIe gfx card. I know that on windows it is almost impossible to have a second card (eg no thrills PCI card) running without having an SLI motherboard because of a driver issue. Well this was my conclusion after many weeks of research. I was thinking...is it possible to use a VM in order to utilize the secondary card as the default video output to feed another monitor? let me know if you want me to clarify Thanks :)

  • Ubuntu 12.04 issue installing Webmin modules (file does not exist)

    I'm running ubuntu 12.04. On this machine I have Webmin 1.580 installed. When trying to add a new module to Webmin I receive an error: "Failed to install module from : File does not exist" This happens when i go to Webmin Configuration Webmin Modules Select "Third party module from" Select "OpenVPN admin tool" and clicking on install module After I selected "OpenVPN admin tool" this url is being added: http://www.openit.it/downloads/OpenVPNadmin/openvpn-2.5.wbm.gz This URL resolves to a correct file. When uploading the file directly, the same error occurs. In the log file: /var/webmin/webmin.log nothing special is reported. How can I fix this issue? P.s. I run this server in CLI mode

  • Cannot "add to address book" in thunderbird on mac. Know a workaround?

    Runing TB 24.5.0 on Mac 10.8.5. I configure TB so that File-"Use Mac OS X Address Book" is not selected. Can open Address Book and see addresses in "COllected Addresses" & create New contact there. But in TB cannot "add to address book". I click on star to right of email address or ctrl-click correspondent and "add to address book". Nothing happens. But correspondent should be added to (some) address book. This is a major inconvenience because I use the address book to distinguish between junk mail from people who I do not know and good mail from people who I do know. Currently the only way for me to add anybody to the address book is to do so by hand, one at a time in "collected addresses". I welcome any work around that would let me add somebody to an address book with a single click. Thanks

Occasionally, I am working on Windows and my machine will go into hibernate (i.e. when the battery level is critical). By default, my GRUB settings boot me into Ubuntu. So when I get back to my PC, sometimes I just hop into Ubuntu instead of going back to Windows. However, if I write any files to the Windows file system during that Ubuntu session, the next time I do go back to Windows (which resumes from hibernate), those files are missing. Obviously, the state of the actual file system and the hibernate snapshot become out of sync, and Windows chooses the hibernate snapshot, overriding any changes I may have made thru Ubuntu. For now, I've disabled the hibernate option in the Windows power settings, but is there any utility I can use to get back some of those missing files?

  • Call connects through Emapthy, but no voice

    I am trying to make calls using Empathy on Debian.The call rings and connects, but I can't hear voice, or answering machines. I had a similar problem a while back that was caused by my PBX not being compatible with a protocol. The protocol issue is fixed now and Linphone works fine on a different pc. I tried using Ekiga, on the problem computer, and it works fine.The problem seems to be with the settings on Empathy. I need to get this going. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You are given the cost of manufacturing each Knight's preferred dessert-since it is a round table, the list starts with the cost of King Arthur's dessert, and goes counter-clockwise. You decide to pick the cheapest desserts to make, such that for every pair of adjacent Knights, at least one gets his dessert. This will ensure that the Knights do not protest. What is the minimum cost of tonight's dinner, given this condition? The problem arises because of the table's round shape. Now an anomaly arises when I consider the case - 2 1 1 2 1 2. The program gives an answer 5 when the answer should be 4, by picking the 1st, 3rd & 5th knight. At this point, I started to doubt my initial algorithm (approach) itself! Where did I go wrong?

  • Oversized Qt Fonts on OSX

    Why does Qt on OSX appear to default to overly large fonts? Even when you select the same font size manually the fonts appear slightly bigger. Does Qt on OSX use a different font rendering to OSX? Does this improve if you use Qt for Cocoa? In addition, is there a qtconfig tool or equivalent to globally set the font settings for all Qt applications? Thanks!

The logger has a log() method which takes an std::string or std::wstring depending on its policy: // basic_logger.hpp template<class String> class basic_logger { public: typedef String string_type; void log(const string_type & s) { ... } }; typedef basic_logger<std::string> logger; typedef basic_logger<std::wstring> wlogger; // reader.hpp template<class Logger = logger> class reader { public: typedef Logger logger_type; void read() { _logger.log("Reading..."); } private: logger_type _logger; }; Now the questing is, should the reader take a Logger as an argument, like above, or should it take a String and then instantiate a basic_logger as an instance variable? Like so: template<class String> class reader { public: typedef String string_type; typedef basic_logger<string_type> logger_type; // ... private: logger_type _logger; }; What is the right way to go?

    I am a junior Java SE developer, planning to become a Java Standard Edition professional. Which technologies/frameworks will be the smartest thing for me to learn? I will invest a lot of time and energy on the technologies that I eventually choose and it will be the basis for my carreer. I need to choose carefully. I have one question in particular regarding Oracle ADF: How can it be better than Spring or EJB 3.x? No offense to the ADF developers - and please excuse my ignorance - but is there a reason for using ADF other than locking customers to Oracle products? If ADF is an inferior technology I fear I will be making a mistake choosing to specialize in ADF.

  • setting mailx default smtp relay

    I heave searched Google for this and cannot seem to find a soloution I have bsd-mailx on my server and it sends mail just fine However I wished to have a development environment at home. I need mailx such that php can use its mail function. However the mail is failing to resolve the domain name @gmail.com I am aware that my ISP talk talk may be blocking this is they have a mail server smtp.talktalk.net I assume I would have to add somthing to /etc/mail.rc and use heirloom maEdit turned out I had a instance of send mail running that was doing weird things.. after killing ilx not bsd-mailx,,but would still need to set default smtp relay Im on ubuntu 12.4 thankyou Edit turned out I had a instance of send mail running that was doing weird things.. after killing that, I was able to add the smtp relay, but its now saying that the sender domain does not work. I assume this domain has to route back the the same machine the mail originated from. as i dont have a domain for my home address.
