• Are same IP address with different submask unique?

  In a same block of IPv4 addresses, can there be same IPs with different submasks? For example, can I have this: 180.70.65.140/26 180.70.65.140/25 180.70.65.140/24 All the 3 addresses above have the same numbers but different subnet mask. Are all the 3 addresses distinct of their own? In other words, 180.70.65.140/25 belongs to User A, 180.70.65.140/25 belongs to User B and 180.70.65.140/24 belongs to User C? After applying the submask, their network addresses look like this: 180.70.65.140/26 --> 180.70.65.128/26 180.70.65.140/25 --> 180.70.65.128/25 180.70.65.140/24 --> 180.70.65.0/24 If the addresses are recognised uniquely, how is it so? How would each of the these addresses being recognised to be unique? I am thinking like once I have 180.70.65.140/26, I can't reuse the same numbers of 180.70.65.140 again but since classless is meant to increase the number of IP addresses, it would do much if I can't reuse.

  Anybody got any any tutorials that cover these subjects ... the official MS 70-536 book covers this but I don't want to take any chances as I want additional reading materials problem is, its proving difficult to find anything on it. It's a fairly big subject so am hoping somone on here as here as got some good reading materials on that cover these subjects. At this very moment in time, im reading this; Tutorial01 Its not much, but its a good starting point. I'm not a big fan MSDN and the way its structured and layout, I mainly use it for framework related questions like classes and interfaces and etc. WHen it comes to tutorials, i prefer thrid party websites. Lastly, this extra reading which I am asking for is really revision for the 70-536 exam. TIA. Ibrar

• What's the difference between the 'DES' class and The 'DESCryptoServiceProvider' class?

  All I can make out is that one of them is the BC for all 'DES' algorithms to be derived from and the later is a wrapper for the Cryptographic service provider implementation of the DES algorithm. The reason why I ask is that I am going over .Net Security and the MS official training book simply refers to the DES class but the another official MS book refers to the DESCrypto' class. What's the difference between these two? When would you use either of them? What do I need to know as far as the 70-536 exam is concerned. • BizTalk 2010 Certification Exam

  I took a shot at new (to me) certification exam for BizTalk 2010. I was able to pass it without any preparation just based on the experience. That does not mean this exam is a very simple one. Comparing to previous (2006 R2) it covers some new areas (like WCF) and has some demanding questions and situation to think about. But the most challenging factor is broad feature coverage. Overall, the impression that if BizTalk continues to grow in scope it’s better to create separate exams for core functionality and extended features (like EDI, RFID, LOB adapters) because it’s really hard to cover vast array of BizTalk capabilities. As far as required knowledge and questions allocation I think Microsoft description is on target. There were definitely more questions on deployment, configuration and administration aspects comparing to previous exam. WCF and WCF based adapters now play big role and this topic was covered well too. Extended functionality is claimed at 13% of the exam, I felt there were plenty of RFID questions but not many EDI, that’s why I thought it’d be useful to split exam into two to cover all of them equally. BRE is still there and good, cause it’s usually not very known/loved feature of the package. At the and, for those who plan to get certified, my advice would be to know all those areas of BizTalk for guaranteed passing: messaging and orchestrations, core adapters, routing, patterns; development of all artifacts and orchestrations; debugging and exceptions handling; packaging, deployment, tracking and administration; WCF bindings and adapters; BAM, BRE, RFID, EDI, etc. You may get by not knowing one smaller non-essential part (like I did with RFID, for example). In such case you better know all other areas very well to cover for the weak spot. If there more than one whiteouts in the knowledge it’s good idea to study and prepare: MSDN, blogs, virtual labs and good VM to play with can help when experience is not enough. So best wishes and good skill to you in passing this certification!

• 505 (HTTP version not supported) sent to client when ASP.NET application attempts to access WCF service

  We have created a DLL to facilitate access of a 3rd-party WCF Service. This DLL works fine in a Windows Application on our test machines, but when we try to use it in an ASP.NET application on our web server, our web server returns a 505 HTTP version not supported error to the client. To clarify, the setup is Client-Server-WCF Service. Using Fiddler, I can tell that our server is not making requests to the WCF Service. The calls are wrapped in a try/catch block, but no Exception occurs. Instead, as soon as the call to the service is attempted, our server returns a 505 error to the client and terminates execution. We are using clientCertificate authentication over HTTPS with serviceCertificate certificateValidationMode set to "None". Thanks

• Excessive httpd processes to stack up on my Rails + Apache2 + Passenger production setup?

  I have a Rails + Apache2 + Postgres + Passenger application running in production mode in OSX Snow Leopard. The application serves as a data warehouse for another application in the cloud so I'm constantly getting API calls to my OSX production build. After a recent reboot, I'm finding a ton of httpd processes stacking up and eventually requiring an apache reboot. I haven't changed any settings, everything was running fine before. • Exam 71-516: Accessing Data with Microsoft .NET Framework 4

  I had the chance to take the beta version of exam 71-516 today. Here are my thoughts on it: first, I was rather annoyed to discover that I will only know if I passed or not about 8 weeks after the beta period expires (July, 02), which probably means September. It was a difficult exam, especially since I don't have any practice on some of the new Entity Framework options. The items covered, from the most covered to the least covered, were: Entity Framework (50-50 for POCO/Non-POCO) LINQ to SQL WCF Data Services Classic ADO.NET (DataSets, DataTables, DataAdapters, TableAdapters, Connections and Commands LINQ to XML Sync Framework (surprise!) All added up, I think it was a difficult exam. My advise is that you practice a lot! I will post the result as soon as I know it.

  Hi Everyone! I want to give you a preview of a process change that will be coming in the next few weeks. We will soon announce a change in the way that Oracle certification candidates receive their exam scores and score reports (after they take an exam). Once the change occurs you will need to have an Oracle Web Account (in order to access your exam score). This is the account that is used to log into the Oracle website for things such as OTN access, software downloads and other Oracle services. If you already have an Oracle Web Account then you are already in good shape!   I'm trying to do this exercise for my exam tomorrow. I need to compare a string of my own input and see if that string is appearing on the file. This needs to be done directly on the file, so I cannot extract the string to my program and compare them "indirectly". I found this way but I'm not getting it right, and I don't know why.   I just took an exam where i was asked the following: Write the function body of each of the methods GenStrLen, InsertChar and StrReverse for the given code bellow. • Exception Class: When to Derive from it, In C# (.Net)?

  I am continuing with my exam revision. I have come across the usage of the Base Exception class and I have seen it on exam papers also. My question is when do you derive from the Base Exception class? I am of the impression if you want a custom class to throw an exception with more meaningful information, then you can create a custom exception class that contains the exact data that is representative of how your custom class is used and what scenario it is designed to be used for? Why can't my custom exception class derive from 'ApplicationException' or 'SecurityException' or the base 'Exception' class? I am of the impression that I should derive from the base Exception class and not the previous two. My question second is, when would you derive from the other two??? Are there any clear-cut distinctions as to when you would derive from either one of these three? Assuming there are no others I have I have missed out? Thanks, Ibrar

Here are some notes: Great number of jQuery questions, mostly having to do with AJAX Lots of MVC 2 questions also A number of classic ASP.NET web forms, of which only a few were related with the new 4 features Some Entity Framework Some plain old JavaScript, like, changing an image dynamically I think I did OK. As with my previous exam, I still don't know if I passed or not, will have to wait for the end of the beta period.

• Generics and Exposing .Net Types For COM Consumers?

  I remember seeing a question on my official MS 70-536 exam that talked about a simple class that was designed to be exposed for COM calling clients and etc. of all the members defined in the classes I chose the answer D. The one that used a generic. My question to you guys is this: If you were designing a .net custom type that was to be eventually consumed by a com caller or a com type .... of all the guidelines I have read on this subject. Generics is the one .Net topic I would not include in a class for this purpose I would omit such a data member or use something else? Am I right in thinking this. As soon as I saw this question I knew it was generics but I can't seem to prove it. Surely I did not make this up ... generics is a .net feature right?
