  • Parent Child Relationships with Fluent NHibernate?

    - by ElHaix
    I would like to create a cascading tree/list of N number of children for a given parent, where a child can also become a parent. Given the following data structure: CountryType=1; ColorType=3; StateType=5 6,7,8 = {Can, US, Mex} 10, 11, 12 = {Red, White, Blue} 20,21,22= {California, Florida, Alberta} TreeID ListTypeID ParentTreeID ListItemID 1 1 Null 6 (Canada is a Country) 2 1 Null 7 (US is a Country) 3 1 Null 8 (Mexico is a Country) 4 3 3 10 (Mexico has Red) 5 3 3 11 (Mexico has White) 6 5 1 22 (Alberta is in Canada) 7 5 7 20 (California is in US) 8 5 7 21 (Florida is in US) 9 3 6 10 (Alberta is Red) 10 3 6 12 (Alberta is Blue) 11 3 2 10 (US is Red) 12 3 2 11 (Us is Blue) How would this be represented in Fluent NHibernate classes? Some direction would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Representing parent-child relationships in SharePoint lists

    - by Chris Farmer
I need to create some functionality in our SharePoint app that populates a list or lists with some simple hierarchical data. Each parent record will represent a "submission" and each child record will be a "submission item." There's a 1-to-n relationship between submissions and submission items. Is this practical to do in SharePoint? The only types of list relationships I've done so far are lookup columns, but this seems a bit different. Also, once such a list relationship is established, then what's the best way to create views on this kind of data. I'm almost convinced that it'd be easier just to write this stuff to an external database, but I'd like to give SharePoint a shot in order to take advantage of the automated search capabilities.

  • jQuery child of clicked element

    - by Tom
Hi, I've got a list of links which have a click event attached to them, I need to get the ID from the child A link. So in the example below if I clicked the first list element I'd need google retuned. I've tried '$this a' but can't quite work out the syntax. jQuery: $("ul li").click(function(event){ $("input").val($(this).html()); } ); html: <ul> <li><a href="http://www.google.com" id="google">Google</a> </ul>

  • css3 nth child question

    - by JCHASE11
Hello. I am designing a 960px wide layout with an unordered list. Each list item is 240px wide, so 4 list items fit horizontally in a row. I have about 20 rows on the page.... I want every other list item to have a background of #ececec, so my css would be: ul li:nth-child(2n+2){ background-color:#ececec; } This works. The only problem is because there are 4 items in a row (an even #), the next row would be identical, thus rendering background colors on every 1st and 3rd list items in a row. This is not the effect I am looking to achieve. I want the background colors to alternate, creating a grid-like effect. What is the correct css to do so (think a checker board). Thanks!

  • C#/.NET Little Wonders: The Timeout static class

    - by James Michael Hare
Once again, in this series of posts I look at the parts of the .NET Framework that may seem trivial, but can help improve your code by making it easier to write and maintain. The index of all my past little wonders posts can be found here. When I started the “Little Wonders” series, I really wanted to pay homage to parts of the .NET Framework that are often small but can help in big ways.  The item I have to discuss today really is a very small item in the .NET BCL, but once again I feel it can help make the intention of code much clearer and thus is worthy of note. The Problem - Magic numbers aren’t very readable or maintainable In my first Little Wonders Post (Five Little Wonders That Make Code Better) I mention the TimeSpan factory methods which, I feel, really help the readability of constructed TimeSpan instances. Just to quickly recap that discussion, ask yourself what the TimeSpan specified in each case below is 1: // Five minutes? Five Seconds? 2: var fiveWhat1 = new TimeSpan(0, 0, 5); 3: var fiveWhat2 = new TimeSpan(0, 0, 5, 0); 4: var fiveWhat3 = new TimeSpan(0, 0, 5, 0, 0); You’d think they’d all be the same unit of time, right?  After all, most overloads tend to tack additional arguments on the end.  But this is not the case with TimeSpan, where the constructor forms are:     TimeSpan(int hours, int minutes, int seconds);     TimeSpan(int days, int hours, int minutes, int seconds);     TimeSpan(int days, int hours, int minutes, int seconds, int milliseconds); Notice how in the 4 and 5 parameter version we suddenly have the parameter days slipping in front of hours?  This can make reading constructors like those above much harder.  Fortunately, there are TimeSpan factory methods to help make your intention crystal clear: 1: // Ah! Much clearer! 2: var fiveSeconds = TimeSpan.FromSeconds(5); These are great because they remove all ambiguity from the reader!  So in short, magic numbers in constructors and methods can be ambiguous, and anything we can do to clean up the intention of the developer will make the code much easier to read and maintain. Timeout – Readable identifiers for infinite timeout values In a similar way to TimeSpan, let’s consider specifying timeouts for some of .NET’s (or our own) many methods that allow you to specify timeout periods. For example, in the TPL Task class, there is a family of Wait() methods that can take TimeSpan or int for timeouts.  Typically, if you want to specify an infinite timeout, you’d just call the version that doesn’t take a timeout parameter at all: 1: myTask.Wait(); // infinite wait But there are versions that take the int or TimeSpan for timeout as well: 1: // Wait for 100 ms 2: myTask.Wait(100); 3:  4: // Wait for 5 seconds 5: myTask.Wait(TimeSpan.FromSeconds(5); Now, if we want to specify an infinite timeout to wait on the Task, we could pass –1 (or a TimeSpan set to –1 ms), which what the .NET BCL methods with timeouts use to represent an infinite timeout: 1: // Also infinite timeouts, but harder to read/maintain 2: myTask.Wait(-1); 3: myTask.Wait(TimeSpan.FromMilliseconds(-1)); However, these are not as readable or maintainable.  If you were writing this code, you might make the mistake of thinking 0 or int.MaxValue was an infinite timeout, and you’d be incorrect.  Also, reading the code above it isn’t as clear that –1 is infinite unless you happen to know that is the specified behavior. To make the code like this easier to read and maintain, there is a static class called Timeout in the System.Threading namespace which contains definition for infinite timeouts specified as both int and TimeSpan forms: Timeout.Infinite An integer constant with a value of –1 Timeout.InfiniteTimeSpan A static readonly TimeSpan which represents –1 ms (only available in .NET 4.5+) This makes our calls to Task.Wait() (or any other calls with timeouts) much more clear: 1: // intention to wait indefinitely is quite clear now 2: myTask.Wait(Timeout.Infinite); 3: myTask.Wait(Timeout.InfiniteTimeSpan); But wait, you may say, why would we care at all?  Why not use the version of Wait() that takes no arguments?  Good question!  When you’re directly calling the method with an infinite timeout that’s what you’d most likely do, but what if you are just passing along a timeout specified by a caller from higher up?  Or perhaps storing a timeout value from a configuration file, and want to default it to infinite? For example, perhaps you are designing a communications module and want to be able to shutdown gracefully, but if you can’t gracefully finish in a specified amount of time you want to force the connection closed.  You could create a Shutdown() method in your class, and take a TimeSpan or an int for the amount of time to wait for a clean shutdown – perhaps waiting for client to acknowledge – before terminating the connection.  So, assume we had a pub/sub system with a class to broadcast messages: 1: // Some class to broadcast messages to connected clients 2: public class Broadcaster 3: { 4: // ... 5:  6: // Shutdown connection to clients, wait for ack back from clients 7: // until all acks received or timeout, whichever happens first 8: public void Shutdown(int timeout) 9: { 10: // Kick off a task here to send shutdown request to clients and wait 11: // for the task to finish below for the specified time... 12:  13: if (!shutdownTask.Wait(timeout)) 14: { 15: // If Wait() returns false, we timed out and task 16: // did not join in time. 17: } 18: } 19: } We could even add an overload to allow us to use TimeSpan instead of int, to give our callers the flexibility to specify timeouts either way: 1: // overload to allow them to specify Timeout in TimeSpan, would 2: // just call the int version passing in the TotalMilliseconds... 3: public void Shutdown(TimeSpan timeout) 4: { 5: Shutdown(timeout.TotalMilliseconds); 6: } Notice in case of this class, we don’t assume the caller wants infinite timeouts, we choose to rely on them to tell us how long to wait.  So now, if they choose an infinite timeout, they could use the –1, which is more cryptic, or use Timeout class to make the intention clear: 1: // shutdown the broadcaster, waiting until all clients ack back 2: // without timing out. 3: myBroadcaster.Shutdown(Timeout.Infinite); We could even add a default argument using the int parameter version so that specifying no arguments to Shutdown() assumes an infinite timeout: 1: // Modified original Shutdown() method to add a default of 2: // Timeout.Infinite, works because Timeout.Infinite is a compile 3: // time constant. 4: public void Shutdown(int timeout = Timeout.Infinite) 5: { 6: // same code as before 7: } Note that you can’t default the ShutDown(TimeSpan) overload with Timeout.InfiniteTimeSpan since it is not a compile-time constant.  The only acceptable default for a TimeSpan parameter would be default(TimeSpan) which is zero milliseconds, which specified no wait, not infinite wait. Summary While Timeout.Infinite and Timeout.InfiniteTimeSpan are not earth-shattering classes in terms of functionality, they do give you very handy and readable constant values that you can use in your programs to help increase readability and maintainability when specifying infinite timeouts for various timeouts in the BCL and your own applications. • Export SWC from Flash and Access Child from Flex

    - by php html
I'm creating an actionscript project in Flex Builder. I succeed to export from Flash a SWC file, and to use it succesfully in Flex. I have a good programming background and Flex looks very simple for me, but I have difficult times in flash. I'm trying to achieve something that might be very simple(not for me of course): I create a simple shape in Flash, convert it to symbol. Then I create a TextField. The I select both the elements and convert them to another symbol, and Export it as a movieclip in swc. In flex I want to change the value from the textfield. How should I do? I'm trying to do: var t:ExportedMC = new ExportedMC(); t....(what should I write here) As I mentioned when I open flash I feel like an elephant in a porcelain store. I have 2 questions here: - how to assign a name to the textfield in flash? I'm using CS4. - how to access it as a child in flex?

  • Adding a block of XML as child of a SimpleXMLElement object

    - by miCRoSCoPiC_eaRthLinG
Hey all, I have this SimpleXMLElement object with a XML setup similar to the following... $xml <<< EOX <books> <book> <name>ABCD</name> </book> </books> EOX; $sx = new SimpleXMLElement( $xml ); Now I have a class named Book that contains info. about each book. The same class can also spit out the book info. in XML format akin the the above (the nested block).. example, $book = new Book( 'EFGH' ); $book->genXML(); ... will generate <book> <name>EFGH</name> </book> Now I'm trying to figure out a way by which I can use this generated XML block and append as a child of so that now it looks like... for example.. // Non-existent member method. For illustration purposes only. $sx->addXMLChild( $book->genXML() ); ...XML tree now looks like: <books> <book> <name>ABCD</name> </book> <book> <name>EFGH</name> </book> </books> From what documentation I have read on SimpleXMLElement, addChild() won't get this done for you as it doesn't support XML data as tag value. Any ideas on how I should go about this ? Thanks, m^e

  • divert asp.net child controls

    - by Eric
Hi Folks, I am trying to create an asp.net custom control that acts as a hosting container for any other controls, similar to the existing ‘Panel’ control. Basically, I need to build a web control that groups a bunch of other controls. It will consist of a header and a body pane, similar to a normal window in desktop application. The header will contain some simple text and some JavaScript driven code that shows/hides the body pane. The body pane simply hosts any number of other controls. +------------------------------------------------------+ | User Details Show/Hide | +------------------------------------------------------+ | Name: [Eric ] | | Address: [Some where] | | Date of Birth: [01/01/1980] | | | | (any other fields goes on) | | | | | +------------------------------------------------------+ Ideally I want to create a control that packs the whole thing together, so at design time I could use the following markup. <myCtl:SuperContainer runat=”server” Title=”User Details”> <asp:label id=”lblName” runat=”server” text=”Name:”/> <asp:textbox id=”txtName” runat=”server”/> <asp:label id=”lblDOB” runat=”server” text=”Date of Birth:”/> <asp:textbox id=”txtDOB” runat=”server”/> (…other controls definition…) </myCtl:SuperContainer> I plan to include two panels in my control, one for the header and another one for the body, but as you can see, the key issue is to find a way to ‘divert’ the child controls that are defined in the markup to the body panel, instead of the default parent container. I feel it can be some how simply override (manipulate) the control property, but don’t know how to properly do so. Can any one give some idea about how to implement this ‘SuperContainer’ control? Many thank, Eric

  • Simple Little Registry Editor - New Release

    - by Bruce Eitman
I have posted a new release of the Simple Little Registry Editor found in Windows CE: Simple Little Registry Editor.  This release fixes a problem with writing DWORD values when the most significant bit is set.  The application uses RegistryKey.SetValue.  There seems to be a problem with how the .NET CompactFramework (and the full framework) handle the second argument during the call which causes an exception. So the following does not work: RegistryKey.SetValue( "TestValue", 0xFFFFFFFF, RegistryValueKind.DWord ); But, this does: RegistryKey.SetValue( "TestValue",unchecked((int) 0xFFFFFFFF), RegistryValueKind.DWord ); Copyright © 2012 – Bruce Eitman All Rights Reserved

  • Know a little of a lot or a lot of a little? [closed]

    - by Jeff V
Possible Duplicate: Is it better to specialize in a single field I like, or expand into other fields to broaden my horizons? My buddy and I who have been programming for 13 years or so were talking this morning and a question that came up was is it better to know a little of a lot (i.e. web, desktop, VB.Net, C#, jQuery, PHP, Java etc.) or is it better to know a lot of a little (meaning expert in something). The context of this question is what makes someone a senior programmer? Is it someone that has been around the block a few times and has been in many different situations or one that is locked in to a specific technology that is super knowledgeable in that one technology? I see pro's and con's of both scenarios.. Just wondering what others thought.

  • Append/Add Child Div (jQuery) for Messaging System

    - by Lord Varlin
    So, I'm having difficulty trying to append/add a child div to the parent div, and thought someone out here may know the best way for me to go about this. I have attached my code (without PHP right now, just hard coding text and stuff). But here is what I am trying to do: When a message is posted, you hit the "Reply Button" and a new div will appear underneath containing the reply form. Right now, here are the issues I know about and can't get around: The DIV is a class, so when I use jQuery to try to target the DIV it targets everything since it's no unique. The Reply Button is also a class, so it's not unique. Here is a video of it in action: http://tinypic.com/r/2luxwnr/7 HTML <body> <div id="content-container"> <div id="message-viewer"> <div class="roar"> <div class="roaractionpanel"> <div id="msg-business2"></div> <div class="roartime"><p class="roartime-text">3:26PM</p></div> </div> <div class="roarcontent"> <button type="submit" class="btn-reply"></button> <h5>Test Post</h5><br> <h6>Lord Varlin</h6><br> <h2>Test post... let's see.</h2> </div> </div> <div class="newreply"> <div class="newreplycontent"> <h1>This is where the fields for a new reply will go.</h1> </div> </div> <div class="roar"> <div class="roaractionpanel"> <div id="msg-business2"></div> <div class="roartime"><p class="roartime-text">3:26PM</p></div> </div> <div class="roarcontent"> <button type="submit" class="btn-reply"></button> <h5>Testing another</h5><br> <h6>Lord Varlin</h6><br> <h2>Hmm dee dumm...</h2> </div> </div> <div class="roarreply"> <div class="roarreply-marker"> <p class="roarreplytime-text">June 26th @ 4:42AM</p> </div> <div class="roarreplycontent"> <h9>Testing a reply. Hmmmm.</h9><br> <h8>Lord Varlin</h8> </div> </div> <div class="roarreply"> <div class="roarreply-marker"> <p class="roarreplytime-text">June 26th @ 4:42AM</p> </div> <div class="roarreplycontent"> <h9>Testing a reply. Any guidance would be awesome! :)

  • Child to Parent linking - bad idea?

    - by Thraka
I have a situation where my parent knows about it's child (duh) but I want the child to be able to reference the parent. The reason for this is that I want the child to have the ability to designate itself as most important or least important when it feels like it. When the child does this, it moves it to the top or bottom of the parent's children. In the past I've used a WeakReference property on the child to refer back tot he parent, but I feel that adds an annoying overhead, but maybe it's just the best way to do it. Is this just a bad idea? How would you implement this ability differently?

  • Visual Studio Little Wonders: Quick Launch / Quick Access

    - by James Michael Hare
Once again, in this series of posts I look at features of Visual Studio that may seem trivial, but can help improve your efficiency as a developer. The index of all my past little wonders posts can be found here. Well, my friends, this post will be a bit short because I’m in the middle of a bit of a move at the moment.  But, that said, I didn’t want to let the blog go completely silent this week, so I decided to add another Little Wonder to the list for the Visual Studio IDE. How often have you wanted to change an option or execute a command in Visual Studio, but can’t remember where the darn thing is in the menu, settings, etc.?  If so, Quick Launch in VS2012 (or Quick Access in VS2010 with the Productivity Power Tools extension) is just for you! Quick Launch / Quick Access – find a command or option quickly For those of you using Visual Studio 2012, Quick Launch is built right into the IDE at the top of the title bar, near the minimize, maximize, and close buttons: But do not despair if you are using Visual Studio 2010, you can get Quick Access from the Productivity Power Tools extension.  To do this, you can go to the extension manager: And then go to the gallery and search for Productivity Power Tools and install it.  If you don’t have VS2012 yet, then the Productivity Power Tools is the next best thing.  This extension updates VS2010 with features such as Quick Access, the Solution Navigator, searchable Add Reference Dialog, better tab wells, etc.  I highly recommend it! But back to the topic at hand!  In VS2012 Quick Launch is built into the IDE and can be accessed by clicking in the Quick Launch area of the title bar, or by pressing CTRL+Q.  If you have VS2010 with the PPT installed, though, it is called Quick Access and is accessible through View –> Quick Access: Regardless of which IDE you are using, the feature behaves mostly the same.  It allows you to search all of Visual Studio’s commands and options for a particular topic.  For example, let’s say you want to change from tabs to tabs expanded to spaces, but don’t remember where that option is buried.  You can bring up Quick Launch / Quick Access and type in “tabs”: And it brings up a list of all options on tabs, you can then choose the one appropriate to you and click on it and it will take you right there! A lot easier than diving through the options tree to find what you are looking for!  It also works on menu commands, for example if you can’t remember how to open the Output window: It shows you the menu items that will get you to the Output window, and (if applicable) the keyboard shortcuts.  Again, clicking on one of these will perform the action for you as well. There are also some tasks you can perform directly from Quick Launch / Quick Access.  For example, perhaps you are one of those people who like to have the line numbers in your editor (I do), so let’s bring up Quick Launch / Quick Access and type “line numbers”: And let’s select Turn Line Numbers On, and now our editor looks like: And Voila!  We have line numbers in VS2010.  You can do this in VS2012 too, but it takes you to the option settings instead of directly turning them off and on.  There are bound to be differences between the way the two editors organize settings and commands, but you get the point. So, as you can see, the Quick Launch / Quick Access feature in Visual Studio makes it easy to jump right to the options, commands, or tasks you are interested in without all the digging. Summary An IDE as powerful as Visual Studio has so many options and commands that it can be confusing to remember how to find and invoke them.  Quick Launch (Quick Access in VS2010 with Productivity Power Tools extension) is a quick and handy way to jump to any of these options, commands, or tasks quickly without having to remember in what menu or screen they are buried!  Technorati Tags: C#,CSharp,.NET,Little Wonders,Visual Studio,Quick Access,Quick Launch

  • How to access an encrypted INI file from C on an embedded system with little RAM

    - by Mawg
I want to encrypt an INI file using a Delphi program on a Windows PC. Then I need to decrypt & access it in C on an embedded system with little RAM. I will do that once & fetch all info; I will not be consutinuously accessing the INI file whenever my program needs data from the file. Any advice as to which encryption to use? Nothing too heavyweight, just good enough for "Security through obscurity" and FOSS for both Delphi & C. And how can I decrypt, get all the info from the INI file - using as little RAM as possible, and then free any allocated RAM? I hope that someone can help. [Update] I am currently using an Atmel UC3, although I am not sure if that will be the final case. It has 512kB falsh & 128kB RAM. For an INI file, I am talking of max 8 sections, with a total of max 256 entries, each max 8 chars. I chose INI (but am not married to it), because i have had major problems in the past when the format of a data fiel changes, no matter whether binary, or text. For tex, I prefer the free format of INI (on PC), but suppose I could switch to line_1=data_1, line_2=data_2 and accept that if I add new fields in future software erleases they must come at the end, even if it is not pretty when read directly by humans. I suppose if I choose a fixed format text file then I never need get more than one line into RAM at a time ...

  • I am having trouble booting 12.04 keyboard and little man in circle appears and then nothing

    - by Rich J.
I have a new system (ASUS 990FX mother board, 2 western dig drives, 32 gb memory, an ASUS nvidia video card (GeForce GTX560), and an ASUS DVD Burner (24B1ST)) I am struggling to get the 12.04 cd to work. I have been able to see the little man inside a circle and a graphic of a keyboard? with an == sign between them. Is this is a clue? What does it mean? After that the mauve screen with keyboard and little man in circle goes away. I get a dark background and underline cursor... even hear some work being done reading the rom.... but nothing appears on the screen. I haven't even got to the point where the graphic card is displaying improperly... it is just not displaying anything. If any kind soul has an idea about how to proceed, I am all ears. BTW, I have posted the issue to ASUS... waiting for reply.

  • Flex Canvas child Randomly resizes

    Hi! I have an application with a viewstack that contains all the components that need to be displayed. The navigation is defined in the main application. All the components are based on canvas. The main application looks like that: <mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute" xmlns:components="components.*"> <mx:VBox width="1024" height="100%" horizontalCenter="0" verticalGap="0" backgroundColor="#FFFFFF"> <mx:Image id="header" verticalAlign="top" /> <mx:ViewStack id="body" horizontalCenter="0" verticalCenter="0" width="100%" height="100%"> <components:HomePage id="hp" width="100%"/> <components:CollectionSelection id="cs" width="100%"/> <components:SearchEngine id="se" width="100%"/> <components:SearchResult id="sr" width="100%"/> <components:Tray id="tr" width="100%"/> <components:Order id="or" width="100%"/> </mx:ViewStack> <mx:Image id="footer" verticalAlign="bottom" maintainAspectRatio="false" width="100%"/> </mx:VBox> </mx:Application> I'm getting a strange behaviour from the TRAY component. Here's the code for component Tray (I've only left the display info): <mx:Canvas xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"> <mx:Image id="bg" horizontalCenter="0" verticalCenter="0" width="100%" height="100%" maintainAspectRatio="false"/> <mx:HBox width="100%"> <mx:Button x="20" y="20" label="BACK"/> <mx:Spacer width="100%"/> <mx:LinkBar itemClick="linkbar_itemClick(event)" styleName="GLBLinkBTN" separatorColor="#FFFFFF" separatorWidth="1" > <mx:dataProvider> <mx:Object label="CLEAR"/> <mx:Object label="LOGOUT"/> </mx:dataProvider> </mx:LinkBar> </mx:HBox> <mx:VBox id="mainBox" horizontalCenter="0" verticalCenter="0" verticalGap="0"> <mx:HBox width="100%" height="50" backgroundColor="#60524D" verticalAlign="bottom" paddingBottom="5"> <mx:Label styleName="TRTitle" paddingLeft="15"/> <mx:Spacer width="100%"/> <mx:Label styleName="TRItems" paddingRight="15"/> </mx:HBox> <mx:HorizontalList id="hlist" dataProvider="{TrayData.instance.itemsCollection}" columnCount="{TrayData.instance.hlistColumns}" rowCount="1" itemRenderer="components.TrayItem" horizontalScrollPolicy="off" rollOverColor="#FFFFFF" selectionColor="#FFFFFF" horizontalCenter="0" verticalCenter="0" borderStyle="none" horizontalScrollPosition="{TrayData.instance.hsPosition}" /> <mx:HBox width="100%" backgroundColor="#E7DDDB" height="40" verticalAlign="middle" paddingLeft="20" paddingRight="20"> <mx:Box width="25" verticalAlign="middle" horizontalAlign="left"> <mx:Button id="leftBtn" /> </mx:Box> <mx:Spacer width="100%"/> <mx:Box width="25" verticalAlign="middle" horizontalAlign="right"> <mx:Button id="rightBtn" /> </mx:Box> </mx:HBox> </mx:VBox> </mx:Canvas> All the components are displaying properly. However, sometimes, randomly, the vbox "mainBox" in the tray component is not displaying as it should: the horizontallist shrinks and instead of fully displaying its items, I get horizontal and vertical scrollbars for each item... I'm currently trying to reproduce this behaviour (to get a print screen) but right know, it's working fine... -_-' As soon as I get it work as it shouldn't, I'll upload an image. Here's the code for the itemRenderer (just in case...): <mx:VBox xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" > <mx:HBox width="100%" paddingTop="0" paddingBottom="0" paddingRight="3"> <mx:Spacer width="100%"/> <mx:Box width="14" height="14" verticalAlign="middle" horizontalAlign="center"> <mx:Button width="8" height="8"/> </mx:Box> </mx:HBox> <mx:VBox paddingLeft="20" paddingRight="20" verticalGap="15" paddingBottom="15"> <mx:Canvas id="thumbnail"> <mx:Image id="thumbnailBG" /> <mx:Image id="thumbnailIM" /> </mx:Canvas > <mx:VBox width="100%" verticalGap="7"> <mx:HBox width="100%" height="13"> <mx:Label width="74" opaqueBackground="#ECE5E2"/> <mx:Label paddingBottom="5"/> </mx:HBox> <mx:HBox width="100%" height="13"> <mx:Label width="74" opaqueBackground="#ECE5E2"/> <mx:Label /> </mx:HBox> <mx:HBox width="100%" height="13"> <mx:Label width="74" opaqueBackground="#ECE5E2"/> <mx:Label /> </mx:HBox> <mx:HBox width="100%" height="13"> <mx:Label width="74"opaqueBackground="#ECE5E2"/> <mx:Label /> </mx:HBox> <mx:HBox width="100%" height="13"> <mx:Label width="74" opaqueBackground="#ECE5E2"/> <mx:Label /> </mx:HBox> <mx:HBox width="100%" height="13"> <mx:Label width="74" opaqueBackground="#ECE5E2"/> <mx:Label /> </mx:HBox> <mx:HBox width="100%" height="13"> <mx:Label width="74" opaqueBackground="#ECE5E2"/> <mx:Label /> </mx:HBox> <mx:HBox width="100%" height="13"> <mx:Label width="74" opaqueBackground="#ECE5E2"/> <mx:Label /> </mx:HBox> </mx:VBox> <mx:Button /> </mx:VBox> </mx:VBox> Your help would really be appreciated. Regards, BS_C3

  • Linking Listbox child categories

    - by Gerardo Abdo
Hello I have few monhts working with aspx, and now I'm developing a shopping cart website. For the employee to upload the products on the DB, every product needs to be linked to a category and sub category, and sub-sub category, and so on. Sometimes the sub-sub categories are up to 5. For example Electronics-TV-LCD-Samsung-40 inches. First, What I would like to identify is if the SQL table has the apporpiate structure. I have 3 columns Id, Description, Parent_Id. Categories with Parent Id=0 is used for the top ones. Is this the best way to do it? Then I want to use the ListBox control to select main Categories, and once it is selected, filled a second listbox with its childs and so on. Do I need to query SQL DB everytime the change event happens? I heard about linq but have not used yet, What would be your suggestion to do this. If you have seen a sample to understand it better will be appreciated. Thank you

  • T-SQL: Build Nested Set From Parent-Child Relationship

    - by Peder Rice
I have a table that stores my Customer hierarchy with a nested set (due to the specific design of the application, I wasn't able to leverage just a Customer/Parent Customer mapping table). To simplify maintenance of this table, I've built a couple of stored procedures to handle moving nodes around and creating new nodes, but it's significantly more work than maintaining a Customer/Parent Customer table. Further, these structures are very fragile. So I'm looking for a way to have a Customer/Parent Customer table and then convert that table to a nested set on demand. Does anyone have a link to such an implementation?

  • How to model parent to child pair in MySQL (SQL)

    - by mikeschuld
I have a data model that includes element types Stage, Actor, and Form. Logically, Stages can be assigned pairs of ( Form <--- Actor ) which can be duplicated many times (i.e. same person and same form added to the same stage at a later date/time). Right now I am modeling this with these tables: Stage Form Actor Form_Actor _______________ |Id | |FormId | --> Id in Form |ActorId | --> Id in Actor Stage_FormActor __________________ |Id | |StageId | --> Id in Stage |FormActorId | --> Id in Form_Actor I am using CodeSmith to generate the data layer for this setup and none of the templates really know how to handle this type of relationship correctly when generating classes. Ideally, the ORM would have Stage.FormActors where FormActor would be the pair Form, Actor. Is this the correct way to model these relationships. I have tried using all three Ids in one table as well Stage_Form_Actor ______________ |Id | |StageId | --> Id in Stage |FormId | --> Id in Form |ActorId | --> Id in Actor This doesn't really get generated very well either. Ideas?

  • flash actionscript 3 child control parent frame

    - by steve
I'm completely new to flash... currently attempting to learn actionscript (ugh.) In the project I have right now, on the main timeline there are two layers: "intro" and "menu," and it's set to stop on frame 1. "Intro" is only 1 frame that holds a movie clip, and inside that is a movie clip with 800 frames. At the end of this clip around frame 750, it stops, and requires you to click to continue. Is there a way to have this be clicked, continue to the end of this movie clip, and then go to the 2nd frame in the main timeline to bring up the "menu"? Or do I have to have 800 blank frames before the menu so that the "intro" can play out. Thanks.

  • Help with manipulating child/parent elements with jQuery

    - by Mohammad
    Currently I have this JQuery script var img = $(this); img.wrap('<div class="photo"></div>'); img.parent().append("<p>" + img.attr("alt") + "</p>"); which successfully turns the following: <img src="photo.jpg" alt="caption"> into this <div class="photo"> <img src="photos.jpg" alt="caption"/> <p>caption</p> </div> All is well unless the image has a link as a parent; <a href="#"><img since I want it to be correct html (I'm fussy) improving the resulting outcome bellow would be satisfactory <a href="#"> <div class="photo"> <img src="photos.jpg" alt="caption"/> <p>caption</p> </div> </a> to this: <div class="photo"> <a href="#"> <img src="photos.jpg" alt="caption"/> </a> <p><a href="#">caption</a></p> </div> </a> This is my jQuery script so far (which doesn't work bc I'm a noob) aha if(img.parent('a')){ var targetLink = img.parent('a').attr('href').val(); img.parent('a').wrap('<div class="photo"></div>'); img.parent('div').append('<p><a href="'+targetLink+'">' + img.attr("alt") + '</p></a>'); }else{ img.wrap('<div class="photo"></div>'); img.parent().append("<p>" + img.attr("alt") + "</p>"); }; Any advice, or help will be greatly appreciated : ) Thank You! Update *Answer* (works but looks sloppy) I'm editing it atm; if(img.parent('a').length){ var targetLink = img.parent().attr('href'); img.parent().wrap('<div class="photo"></div>'); var divTarget = img.parent('a').parent('div'); divTarget.append('<p><a href="'+targetLink+'">' + img.attr("alt") + '</p></a>'); }else{ img.wrap('<div class="photo"></div>'); img.parent().append("<p>" + img.attr("alt") + "</p>"); };

  • Getting data from child controls loaded programmatically

    - by Farinha
I've created 2 controls to manipulate a data object: 1 for viewing and another for editing. On one page I load the "view" User Control and pass data to it this way: ViewControl control = (ViewControl)LoadControl("ViewControl.ascx"); control.dataToView = dataObject; this.container.Controls.Add(control); That's all fine and inside the control I can grab that data and display it. Now I'm trying to follow a similar approach for editing. I have a different User Control for this (with some textboxes for editing) to which I pass the original data the same way I did for the view: EditControl control = (EditControl)LoadControl("EditControl.ascx"); control.dataToEdit = dataObject; this.container.Controls.Add(control); Which also works fine. The problem now is getting to this data. When the user clicks a button I need to fetch the data that was edited and do stuff with it. What's happening is that because the controls are being added programmatically, the data that the user changed doesn't seem to be accessible anywhere. Is there a solution for this? Or is this way of trying to keep things separated and possibly re-usable not possible? Thanks in advance.
