  • Problem Trying to Install ROOT (by CERN) on Ubuntu 11.04 i386

  • Play videos with libwebkit in Ubuntu 11.10 server

    I'm using libwebkit (with python-webkit) to render a page that plays a video. This application works fine in a Ubuntu 11.04 Desktop, Nvidia card and lots of libraries and software installed, but in a fresh Ubuntu 11.10 Server with intel 82945G/GZ card the video does not play. I guess either some codec package is missing or it's a driver problem. What could be missing for this to play? I'm trying with this video: http://video.eustasy.co.uk/480/ EDIT: doesn't look like a driver problem. With chromium I can play the video, but with libwebkit + python-webkit the video just shows the first frame and doesn't play. Any hints on what package could be missing? SOLVED: apparently it had to do with lack of audio. While chrome would play the video with no sound, libwebkit wouldn't start video. Adding user to audio and video groups solved the problem.

  • Is there a way to return a response every x seconds or so to a single http request?

    I'm wondering if it's possible to send a response every second or so to a single http request. Like for example the client makes an http request, then the server sends a space character every second. This could be never ending or with a limit, for example a minute. I think the word 'response' is misleading in this context, since I don't necessarily mean an http response. The whole http response could be composed of the space characters, which would mean a single http response to a single http request, except that it is a minute long. I tried chunked encoding but I don't think it works, or at least my implementation's wrong.

  • How to lower wait time for repository updates

    When doing a aptitude update / apt-get update or using the Update Manager to update sometimes I get to a repository link that takes too long. The percent does not end and it takes quite a while before it ignores it. How can I lower the time so that if a particular repository takes more than 10 seconds to connect or finish it should ignore it and move the following ones. Here is an image explaining the problem: It is trying to connect to archive.ubuntu.com but since it is taking too long it just sits there for at least 3 to 5 minutes (Haven't measured the time) and then it shows as ignored and moves to the following. I wish to change that to seconds instead of minutes.

  • cryptsetup partitions not detected at boot

    I installed a fresh 12.04 and tried to mimic what I had for 10.04. swap should be encrypted with a urandom key and there's another partition that will contain home and other directories. # cat /etc/crypttab | grep -v '^#' | grep -v '^$' cryptswap /dev/sda5 /dev/urandom swap encriptado /dev/sda6 # grep -e 'cryptswap' -e 'encriptado' /etc/fstab /dev/mapper/cryptswap swap swap defaults 0 0 /dev/mapper/encriptado /encriptado ext4 defaults 0 0 I also apt-get install cryptsetup When I boot, the system says (try to translate) that either the partition is not found or is not ready. I should wait, press M for manual or S to jump over. What am I missing here?

  • Google Analytics is not tracking all of our pages

    Our website is insynchq.com. In the All Pages report under Content - Site Content we can only see data for some our pages, like /, /getstarted, and /download. Others, like /gmail, /about, and /mobile are not shown, even if we are sure that there have been visits to them. We use a template for our pages so the scripts that are loaded for / (for example) should also be loaded for /gmail, so it doesn't seem to be a problem with the installation of the tracking code. Can anyone help? Thanks.

  • jQuery UI + Gmaps = Problems (for me at least) HELP!!

    Hi there! I started using jQuery as soon as I found out about it, it is very powerfull but I started struggling when I tried to load Gmaps api into the tabs jQuery UI brings. Strangly enough in IE 6,7,8 it works fine, but in Firefox, Safari (I'm using mac but tested it in windows and they both give the same problems) the map doesn't load entirely. When I click on the tab where the map loads in, only part of the map is fully operational, the rest is grey and not clickable. Please take a look at the link below and click the third tab in firefox/safari and IE and you will see the problem. http://movewithusoverseas.com/index-new.php?z=product-info.html&pid=1 I don't know if it is a bug in the jQuery UI code or I'm doing something wrong. I am only trying to make the movie getting loaded when the application launches.Copy pasted the same code in a ipad window application.   • How to make the subview in a UIScrollView to refresh when we zoom it?

    I have subclassed UIView object inside a uiscrollview which displays a pdf page. I can zoom that page. But when I do so, the inside view is zoomed and is getting blurred. I understood that the inner view shud be refreshed and i called setNeedsDisplay. But no change have happened and its the same even now.   • Why in landscape orientation in simulator all the subviews appear out of order?

    I was doing a sample app in ipad. I added about 4 to 5 imageviews to the left side of the view vertically. This view will appear when we select the corresponding entry in the splitviewcontroller. In ipad simulator too, all the images were loading and all are working fine in portrait orientation. But when I rotate the simulator to landscape orientation, these imageviews doesnt appear where i placed them. Some of them overlapping each other, some have half of their part in the navigation bar and all. Has gone completely out of order. I am confused why is all this happening. Can anyone help me solve this issue?

  • How can we change views in a UISplitViewController other than using the popover and selecting?

    I have done a sample app with UISplitViewController studying the example they have provided. I have created three detailviews and have configured them to change by the default means. Either using the left/master view in landscape AND using the popover in the portrait orientation. Now I am trying to move to another view(previous/next) from the currentView by using left/right swipe in each view. For that, what I did was just created a function in the RootViewController. I copy-pasted the same code as that of the tablerow selection used by the popover from the RootViewController. I am calling this function from my current view's controller and is passing the respective index of the view(to be displayed next) from the current view. Function is being called but nothing is happening. Plz help me OR is anyother way to do it other than this complex step?
