    Hey everyone, I'm trying to import some csv data into google docs spreadsheet. The data I am entering is all made up of 16 digit integers. About 90% of them are imported perfectly but 10% are rewritten automatically into scientific notation. How do I turn this feature of. I just want all the numbers kept in their standard form.   • Did IE8 lose the document.frames collection?

    Hey all.. I noticed that an application I am maintaining was giving me a javascript error in IE8 and FF. The script was trying to get a collection of frame elements: document.frames This always returned 'undefined'. I placed a watch on the document object and noticed that this collection does not seem to be a member of the document object in IE8. I think this was always the case in FF but this same code works in older versions of IE. Has this been removed? -Nick

  • asp.net mvc 2 validating text inputs on modal windows

    hi guys, i am tasked with the job of creating client-side validation on a form in an asp.net MVC 2 application, which has a modal window (the modal exists as part of the wrapping form, it is not a form unto itself). how would i go about providing validation for these text field inputs while the modal is visible, but do not validate while the modal is not displayed (as to not cause problems in the rest of the form if the modal window is never required) What is the best approach to achieve this functionality? thanks, Nick

Depending on the country extension of the domain, I want to route to a specific subfolder while keeping the active domain!     Everytime the IWpfTextView's TextBuffer changes I am trying to get the history's redostack and undostack and simply checking the count. When doing this I am encountering a "Method not supported exception" when trying to access the two stacks.     Is there a good open source or reasonably priced EER modeling tool for MySQL besides MySQL Workbench? I find the MySQL Workbench interface to be clunky. I would like to be able to manage my production schema beginning all design changes in the EER and propogating those out to my schema for created and altered tables.   • Distinguish between screen timeout and power-button-press?

    Hi, my app does something when the screen goes black, but I want it to only carry out that task if the screen was turned off "by itself", through a screen timeout - NOT when the user presses the power-button. Is there any way to distinguish between those two events? ACTION_SCREEN_OFF obviously fires in both cases, and I haven't found any other intents that might match what I'm looking for.   • Permission denied when using mv in Windows 7 Cygwin

    I have Cygwin installed on Windows 7 in a windows domain sign-on environment. I can run most typical commands without issue, but I cannot for the life of me use the "mv" command to move or rename files, regardless of the file or directory. I can copy and create files without issue. +-[12:27:57]-[mbutl2@MYHOSTNAME] +--> tmp $ >> pwd /tmp +-[12:27:58]-[mbutl2@MYHOSTNAME] +--> tmp $ >> touch test.txt +-[12:28:02]-[mbutl2@MYHOSTNAME] +--> tmp $ >> mv test.txt hello -bash: /usr/bin/mv: Permission denied I have already tried running Cygwin terminal as Administrator and the problem is the same. I'm open to workarounds, such as trying another exe for moving files and redirecting the mv command to it. Moving files works in the Windows Command Prompt.

    I am trying to figure out how to get FreeNAS 8 to sleep when inactive and, ideally, wake on lan activity (or, less ideally, wake on a WOL magic packet). However, as I've tried to search for information on how to do this, almost all discussions seem to be centered on FreeNAS 7. Also, the tools included in FreeBSD to do this seem to be missing (i.e. acpiconf, etc.). Is there a way to get FreeNAS 8 to sleep and wake so that I don't have to leave the server running all the time? Given its usage level, it seems a waste to have the server running constantly.

  • Refurbished System Windows License Key and OEM Media

    According to this question, it is legal to use a Windows 7 OEM license that is presently installed as a 32-bit install with a 64-bit version of Windows 7. With that in mind, I purchased several refurbished systems through TigerDirect. When I received the computers today, I found that they have a Windows 7 license key attached to them that says it is a "refurbished key." A flyer in the box also seemed to imply that this key would not work with regular OEM media. Has anyone tried using regular OEM media with a refurbished key? I had hoped to create a new 64-bit WIM image that I could use on these systems, but I don't want to try replacing the default install with this new 64-bit install only to find that the key won't validate. If it requires a special customized image, is it possible to convert another type of Windows 7 disc into the required sort much as one can convert a retail disc to an OEM one (and vise versa)?

  • Intel Core i7-4960HQ vs. 4850HQ (Haswell) [on hold]

    I'm looking at the new MacBook Pros and trying to decide between the Core i7-4960HQ (2.6 GHz) and i7-4850 (2.3 GHz). I've found some synthetic benchmarks comparing them, but I haven't found a lot of data, so I'd appreciate any pointers to good comparisons for the Haswell family (especially these two processors). My cursory analysis seems to suggest there isn't a huge gain from the extra 300 MHz. I'd like to determine not only whether this is generally true, but also to figure out if the gains that are made in performance come at too high of cost. Is the 2.6 going to be pushing the limits of what can fit in a thin laptop without overheating? I've looked at some of Intel's documentation, but have not been able to determine what the normal and maximum operating temperature differences are for the models. In the past, there have been times that Intel's fastest models in a given range ran especially hot and/or consumed significantly more power compared to slightly slower models. Do those concerns factor into the current generation?

  • Long Gigabit Ethernet Run

    I am trying to get an Gig-E network between two buildings that are approximately 260 ft. away. While some TRENDnet switches failed to be able to connect to each other over Cat 6 at that distance, two Netgear 5-port Gig-E switches do so just fine. However, it still fails after I put in place APC PNET1GB ethernet surge protectors at each end before the line connects to the respective switches. So I find myself wondering if I simply need to find a better surge protector that doesn't degrade the signal as much (if so, what kind would you recommend?) or if I should give up on copper and use fiber between the buildings. If I opt to go the latter route, I could really use some pointers. It looks like LC connectors are the most common, but I keep running into some others as well. A media converter on each end seems like the simplest solution, but perhaps a Gig-E switch with an SFP port would make more sense? Given a very limited budget, sticking with my existing copper seems best, but if it is bound to be a headache, a 100 meter fiber cable is something I think I can swing cost wise.

    I am writing an application which reacts to emails sent to a mailbox. It retrieves the emails via IMAP. It will be deployed to a number of systems where I do not control the mail server configuration. I would like to use IMAP flags to indicate which messages have been handled. Are the system flags sufficiently widely supported that I can reasonably depend on them in my application? Are user-defined flags sufficiently widely supported? (If the answer is "ha ha, not a chance", then I shall use folders instead.) Thanks -Ben

  • Squid Authentication & streaming

    I've got squid setup using Kerberos authentication. I'm also using squidguard as an URL redirector to block out the usual nastiness of the web. There are some sites though that we allow certain users to, and others not. This all works well, assuming I'm not using any streaming. From what i can determine from the squid logs and the wireshark traces I've done, when the initial request to stream is sent, everything is good, the authenticated username is sent with the request to squidguard. The problem is that on subsequent traffic the username is not sent to squidguard, causing it to be blocked based on default policy. I've tried using the squid built-in allow/deny stuff, but its relatively clunky, and so far squidguard has been pretty easy and fast. Here comes the question(s): How do i get Squid to pass username on all requests? (something tells me this isn't the best way) How do i get squidguard to see traffic is authenticated to a specific user even when a username isn't passed? Is there any other way of accomplishing this? A few details that may be of importance: I'm using a list of users stored in a text file for squidguard to compare against. I'm using full kerberos auth with Squid. CentOS 6.0 Squid 3.1.4 Squidguard 1.3

  • FreeNAS AFP Doesn't Authenticate

    I just set up a FreeNAS 8.0.3 server and am trying to use its AFP (Netatalk) service to access it via a Mac OS X Lion system. I created the ZFS volume, set its permissions to include my user in its owner group (and set group write permissions), created an AFP share with AFP3 and told that share to "allow" @uninet (my group). I have a user on the server named tbutler, matching the user on my Mac. I can see the server, "Beatrice," in Finder. When I try to login in Finder using "Connect As...," the user "tbutler" and the proper password, I am returned to the main Finder window with the black bar now saying "Connection Failed." Any suggestions? UPDATE: Apparently this problem occurs if one gives the AFP share a password in the AFP share settings box. When I removed the password and tried to login using a user account again, it worked just fine.

  • Resizing Partitions on Live RHEL/cPanel Server

    I've resized many partitions over the years on Linux, Windows and Mac OS X -- but always using a GUI. However, the time has come where the preset partition sizes my data center placed on my server aren't the right sizes and I need to resize a production server's disks. I could fiddle with it and probably do OK, but given that it is a production server, I wanted to get some advice about the right way to do this. I do have KVM over IP access, so if it is best to take the server offline and boot off a rescue partition, I can do that. root [/var/lib/mysql]# df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sda2 9.9G 2.1G 7.3G 23% / tmpfs 7.8G 0 7.8G 0% /dev/shm /dev/sda1 99M 77M 18M 82% /boot /dev/sda8 884G 463G 376G 56% /home /dev/sda3 9.9G 8.0G 1.5G 85% /usr /dev/sda5 9.9G 9.1G 308M 97% /var /usr/tmpDSK 2.0G 38M 1.8G 3% /tmp As you can see /var and /usr are quite close to being full and I've actually had to symlink some logs on /usr to directories in /home to balance things out. What I would like to do is to add 6-10 GB each to /usr and /var, presumably taking the space from /home. As I think about how the disk is arranged, the best thought I've come up with is to reduce /home by 16 GB, say, and move /var to the spot freed up, then allocating /var's space to /usr. However, that would put /var at the far end of the disk, which seems less than idea, given that MySQL has all of its data on that partition. I'd love to take the space out of the closer end of /usr, but I assume that would take a very arduous (and perhaps risky) process of moving all of the data in /usr around. I seem to recall having such a process fail for me on a computer in the past. The other option might be to merge / and /usr since / is underutilized, though I'm not sure if that's a good idea. Do you have any suggestions both on the best reallocation plan and the commands to use to accomplish it? UPDATE: I should add -- here's the partition table.   • Very Hot P4 3.4 GHz

    My Pentium 4 3.4 GHz is running hot even with a new fan on my case's heatsink (80mm rated at ~ 40 CFM). If I stress the CPU, it goes over Intel's maximum temperature rating. I'm contemplating putting in a "PCI cooler" (i.e. a fan that fits into an empty PCI slot) to see if I could get better airflow in the case. The slot isn't far from the processor and heatpipes that lead from the processor to the fan, so I'm hopeful this would help, but not entirely certain. Thoughts?

  • Dropbox.py on RHEL 6

    I'm trying to run a headless install of Dropbox on RHEL 6.   • Network Role based routing

    Apologies my networking skills are a tad rusty. I'm looking for a way to setup a system that gives me the ability to setup Role-based access to specific network resources. For example, i have three private subnets for specific groups, users will need access to one one or more subnets. I'd like to have all client machines on the same subnet/vlan, and then use 802.1x to authorize into a router(NAC device/whatever), the router would then see what user had authenticated(huge plus if it could determine AD group), and then allow routing to one or more of the three private subnets based upon their group membership. I've looked at packetFence, and it appears to work by assigning a client to a VLAN, but i'd still need a way to route some users into different back-end networks.

  • After upgrade to Windows 8.1, no Skydrive icon in task bar

    I upgraded to 8.1 and now I don't see the SkyDrive icon in the task bar, nor the green light under it indicating the my computer is communicating with SkyDrive. When I go into Control Panel |..|Notification Area Icons, SkyDrive is listed and noted as Up to date. However even though I mark it to Show Icons and Notifications I don't see any icon in the taskbar. Is it supposed to be this way, or do I have a problem? I kind of got used to that little green synchronizing indicator giving me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

    there is program NetLimiter for windows. while I was using windows it was very useful to me to find out the IP address of ther person who was downloading from me, or to know IP address of any person on lan who was using DC++ with some nick. and after that I can easily know the computer name of that person using nbtstat. I was wondering if there is any tool for ubuntu using which I an find out the IP address of person who is downloading from me or from whom I am downloading on lan. I am on university lan and we are using PtokaX and DC++ for file sharing on lan. people sometimes put some offencive stuff on open chat on DC++ using some Nick and I don't know how to trace them while I am using Ubuntu. Plz help.
