  • OpenVPN via DD-WRT

    I am using DD-WRT with my Buffalo G300NH. I notice in my log files: Wed Oct 10 01:08:25 2012 us=343000 Cannot open /tmp/openvpn/dh.pem for DH parameters: error:02001003:system library:fopen:No such process: error:2006D080:BIO routines:BIO_new_file:no such file I have looked at other answers regarding this error. I have tried to no avail. 755 are chmod rights to /tmp/openvpn. At this point, I can not connect outside my LAN via OpenVPN.   • Tomato/DD-WRT router to act as switch & only NAT some port

    BACKGROUND: I have a device that must use a real IP address. Currently, my ISP uses DHCP and I can have up to 4 real IP address assigned. However, the cable modem only have 1 ethernet port and it's connected to my router (running Tomato, but can run DD-wrt or other Openwrt if required). Question stems from how I can connect the additional device, requiring a real IP? EASY SOLUTION: would be to get a switch and connect to the CM, Router, and Device. But alas, I want to avoid this route, since: my wiring cabinet in my home is drawing lots of power and heat already Device will be unprotected by any firewall unable to monitor the traffic to/from device. Besides, what would be the FUN in that? =) IDEA: So what I want to do is to configure the router, so that one of the switchport is removed from the normal br0 bridge. Instead, I want to make it behave like a switch on the WAN port. What's the best way of doing this? Should I create another bridge on the WAN & the device port? Can a single port belongs to two bridges? or would I need to create a subinterface first? Would I need a DHCP-relay?     I'm planning to do a vlan with shared files without internet. my vlan is working correctly until I could lock the internet but I can not share files only I can ping from 172.168.1.x to 172.168.2.x but not backward. can u help me please??   • DD-WRT No Internet connection over LAN

    I flashed the DD-WRT firmware on my TP-Link WR1043ND router and although after cloning the PC's MAC-Address it gets the correct IP from my ISP, the internet connection over LAN just won't work. The strange thing is it does work flawlessly over W-LAN, which tells me the problem should lie somehow in the default LAN settings or the PC. Any idea what the problem might be?   • dd-wrt Bonjour/ netbios etc on two subnets

    Hi I was wondering if any clever people out there could help me. I have a network setup with two different subnets 192.168.1.0 and 192.168.0.0 one router is connected to a VPN (via OpenVPN) the other is not. Both routers have static routes to each other and a device on one can communicate to another without issues when using IP addresses. My problem is I want to use services like Bonjour, Netbios and Apple Talk across the two networks, which currently does not work. A laptop connected on one subnet will not see a laptop connected on another. Is there anyway that you can connect the two networks together so these sort of local service will work??? I guess I have to forward the boardcast packets but I have no idea how to do this. Thanks for any help...

  • How to create domain or router-level workgroup (dd-wrt micro)

    In Windows, is active directory required for using "Domain" instead of "workgroup"? Do I need to register a domain with a DNS provider like godaddy? What I really want to do is set up my home LAN so that everyone connecting to the main router (which is everyone, which is about 30 people) can see each other. I've tried having everyone use the same work group name, still hit or miss. I tried setting the domain name and host name on the router itself, still nothing. I've tried joining the domain name I set instead of work group, and I get an AD error. But ideally, everyone who is connected to the main router should simply just see each other and any shared folders. I've had this problem when I was not the network admin on other large LANs, and I've never been able to figure out why sometimes people disappear or never see each other. I'd really prefer using the native sharing functionality in the OS to setting up an internal FTP or Samba server, etc. Any sure-fire ways to fix this? (maybe an open source clone of AD?) Thanks!

  • DD-WRT Acces Point as a Router

    Following suggestion to this question asked on Network Engineering, I am asking the question here. this is an extension to my previous question (I think it was deleted), where I was claiming that DDWRT was disabling it's DHCP server once connected to the network. I was wrong, as it now seems that it is bridging itself with another parallel connected wireless router. I have two Draytek 2820 and one Netgear WG602v3 with latest DDWRT. Lets call one wired-Draytek and it has wireless disabled. The other one, let's call it wireless-Draytek, is connected to wired-Draytek and has wireless with MAC filtering enabled. Once I connect Netgear to the wired-Draytek, the client that connects to Netgear, will be assigned with IP address from the wireless-Draytek. If the MAC address is not on the wireles-Draytek, the client is unable to obtain IP address and has no connectivity at all, even with manually assigned static IP configuration. To illustrate further, this is how network is set up: wired-Draytek ---------- wireless-Draytek \_________ Netgear What I wish to have, is that Netgear issues IP addresses from it's own IP pool and ignores the MAC filtering rules from wireless-Draytek. This is kind of puzzling how this they are bridging (if they are) themselves automatically. Thanks. UPDATE: It's not a home network. I gave you a bit simplified set-up. If there is a better site on Stack Exchange to ask this, please let me know. The Drayteks are running stock firmware, it's only Netgear that I've flashed to get more stability. In addition to these routers, I have also three 3COM Baseline switch 2824, and another Draytek router with Prosafe FS752TP PoE switch dedicated for VoIP phones. Wired-Draytek has IP 10.0.0.1, DHCP disabled as there is AD DC which is issuing IP addresses. Wireless-Draytek has IP 1.1.1.1 and DHCP enabled. Netgear has default - 192.168.1.1. As per suggestion, the specific question is - how do I isolate these two wireless routers?

    I am developing an application, in which I want to redirect the output (progress information) of dd command to my C++ program, but it is not actually getting the output, here is the code FILE * progressInfo = popen("gzip -dc backup/backup.img.gz | pv -ptrbe -i 2 -s 2339876653 | dd of=/dev/sdb","r"); if(!progressInfo) { return -1; } char buf[1024]; while(fgets(buff, sizeof(buff),progressInfo)!=NULL) { std::cout << buff << endl; } but the problem is the progress information is not received in buff, and the output is continuously printed on terminal, and above program halts on while(fgets(buff, sizeof(buff),progressInfo)!=NULL), and as soon as the dd operation is completed, the very next line to loop block is executed. if anyone has any idea why the output is not returned to buff, and its continuously retuned on terminal?

  • Is sudo dd taking too long to wipe hard drive?

    I have a 200gb HDD which I removed from a macbook due to several corrupt files in startup. One thing led to another and I decided that I needed to format the drive. I used the command sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdb which is supposed to wipe everything off of the hard drive. It is my understanding that the command writes 0's over every bit on the drive, which I would imagine must take a while. The process has been going for about 18 hours now. I can use other functions of operating system like the web browser and I can even use another terminal window, so I know the system is not frozen. Should I restart the process or let it continue on? Any advice will help. Thanks. By the way, I already noticed a post similar to this that was previously answered though the user was not using the same command as I was.

  • How to configure DD-WRT routing table when creating an isolated network segment for PCI C VT compliance

    I'm the volunteer support and system admin person at a small private school. We need to setup a PCI compliant Windows PC as a virtual terminal for credit card processing. I've read questionnaire SAQ C-VT and, to quote, this computer needs to be accessed: "via a computer that is isolated in a single location, and is not connected to other locations or systems within your environment (this can be achieved via a firewall or network segmentation to isolate the computer from other systems)" Our setup is as follows: DSL modem from ISP is setup to be a "transparent pipe" with no extra services. That goes into the WAN port of Linksys WRT54-GL running a DD-WRT. The LAN is 192.168.1.x. There are a couple of other WRT54-GL / DD-WRT devices. One is used as a wireless AP and another is a client bridge. To isolate the VT (virtual terminal) machine, I have another DD-WRT device. Its WAN is connected to a port on the 192.168.1.x LAN. The virtual terminal machine is connected to its LAN which is at 192.168.10.x. The SPI Firewall etc is turned on. It's basically the default DD-WRT gateway setup where the "ISP" is our own LAN. That's working. All incoming traffic to the VT machine is blocked, including from our own LAN. The VT can access the internet BUT, and here's the problem, it can also ping any of the computers on the 192.168.1.x LAN. I think I need to stop that. I'm guessing that I could do something with the Static Routing table in the VT machine's DD-WRT device. I need to route anything going to 192.168.1.x other than the gateway which is 192.168.1.1 to 0.0.0.0 or something like that. That's where I'm stuck at the end of my knowledge. Or ... do I need to get yet another DD-WRT so the network is "balanced". Maybe I need to have the internet from the DSL going into a DD-WRT which has only two devices on its LAN i.e., two other DD-WRTs, one for the main LAN and one for the VT. I think that would do but I'd like to avoid the extra cost and complexity if I don't need it. Thanks
