  • Older PHP v/s newer PHP version [closed]

    - by Monty
My company is building a website with database. Programmer's used PHP 5.0. My Service Provider (shared) in the meantime upgraded to PHP 5.3.0. Fixes have been on going and seem endless... Do I move to VPS and install older PHP or should we rebuild with newer PHP? When working remotely with programers what is the protocol regarding delivery of all code? Please what is the industry standard? I need an independent to review their work. How should this be approached?

  • Visual Studio 2010 Extension Manager (and the new VS 2010 PowerCommands Extension)

    - by ScottGu
This is the twenty-third in a series of blog posts I’m doing on the VS 2010 and .NET 4 release. Today’s blog post covers some of the extensibility improvements made in VS 2010 – as well as a cool new "PowerCommands for Visual Studio 2010” extension that Microsoft just released (and which can be downloaded and used for free). [In addition to blogging, I am also now using Twitter for quick updates and to share links. Follow me at: twitter.com/scottgu] Extensibility in VS 2010 VS 2010 provides a much richer extensibility model than previous releases.  Anyone can build extensions that add, customize, and light-up the Visual Studio 2010 IDE, Code Editors, Project System and associated Designers. VS 2010 Extensions can be created using the new MEF (Managed Extensibility Framework) which is built-into .NET 4.  You can learn more about how to create VS 2010 extensions from this this blog post from the Visual Studio Team Blog. VS 2010 Extension Manager Developers building extensions can distribute them on their own (via their own web-sites or by selling them).  Visual Studio 2010 also now includes a built-in “Extension Manager” within the IDE that makes it much easier for developers to find, download, and enable extensions online.  You can launch the “Extension Manager” by selecting the Tools->Extension Manager menu option: This loads an “Extension Manager” dialog which accesses an “online gallery” at Microsoft, and then populates a list of available extensions that you can optionally download and enable within your copy of Visual Studio: There are already hundreds of cool extensions populated within the online gallery.  You can browse them by category (use the tree-view on the top-left to filter them).  Clicking “download” on any of the extensions will download, install, and enable it. PowerCommands for Visual Studio 2010 This weekend Microsoft released the free PowerCommands for Visual Studio 2010 extension to the online gallery.  You can learn more about it here, and download and install it via the “Extension Manager” above (search for PowerCommands to find it). The PowerCommands download adds dozens of useful commands to Visual Studio 2010.  Below is a screen-shot of just a few of the useful commands that it adds to the Solution Explorer context menus: Below is a list of all the commands included with this weekend’s PowerCommands for Visual Studio 2010 release: Enable/Disable PowerCommands in Options dialog This feature allows you to select which commands to enable in the Visual Studio IDE. Point to the Tools menu, then click Options. Expand the PowerCommands options, then click Commands. Check the commands you would like to enable. Note: All power commands are initially defaulted Enabled. Format document on save / Remove and Sort Usings on save The Format document on save option formats the tabs, spaces, and so on of the document being saved. It is equivalent to pointing to the Edit menu, clicking Advanced, and then clicking Format Document. The Remove and sort usings option removes unused using statements and sorts the remaining using statements in the document being saved. Note: The Remove and sort usings option is only available for C# documents. Format document on save and Remove and sort usings both are initially defaulted OFF. Clear All Panes This command clears all output panes. It can be executed from the button on the toolbar of the Output window. Copy Path This command copies the full path of the currently selected item to the clipboard. It can be executed by right-clicking one of these nodes in the Solution Explorer: The solution node; A project node; Any project item node; Any folder. Email CodeSnippet To email the lines of text you select in the code editor, right-click anywhere in the editor and then click Email CodeSnippet. Insert Guid Attribute This command adds a Guid attribute to a selected class. From the code editor, right-click anywhere within the class definition, then click Insert Guid Attribute. Show All Files This command shows the hidden files in all projects displayed in the Solution Explorer when the solution node is selected. It enhances the Show All Files button, which normally shows only the hidden files in the selected project node. Undo Close This command reopens a closed document , returning the cursor to its last position. To reopen the most recently closed document, point to the Edit menu, then click Undo Close. Alternately, you can use the CtrlShiftZ shortcut. To reopen any other recently closed document, point to the View menu, click Other Windows, and then click Undo Close Window. The Undo Close window appears, typically next to the Output window. Double-click any document in the list to reopen it. Collapse Projects This command collapses a project or projects in the Solution Explorer starting from the root selected node. Collapsing a project can increase the readability of the solution. This command can be executed from three different places: solution, solution folders and project nodes respectively. Copy Class This command copies a selected class entire content to the clipboard, renaming the class. This command is normally followed by a Paste Class command, which renames the class to avoid a compilation error. It can be executed from a single project item or a project item with dependent sub items. Paste Class This command pastes a class entire content from the clipboard, renaming the class to avoid a compilation error. This command is normally preceded by a Copy Class command. It can be executed from a project or folder node. Copy References This command copies a reference or set of references to the clipboard. It can be executed from the references node, a single reference node or set of reference nodes. Paste References This command pastes a reference or set of references from the clipboard. It can be executed from different places depending on the type of project. For CSharp projects it can be executed from the references node. For Visual Basic and Website projects it can be executed from the project node. Copy As Project Reference This command copies a project as a project reference to the clipboard. It can be executed from a project node. Edit Project File This command opens the MSBuild project file for a selected project inside Visual Studio. It combines the existing Unload Project and Edit Project commands. Open Containing Folder This command opens a Windows Explorer window pointing to the physical path of a selected item. It can be executed from a project item node Open Command Prompt This command opens a Visual Studio command prompt pointing to the physical path of a selected item. It can be executed from four different places: solution, project, folder and project item nodes respectively. Unload Projects This command unloads all projects in a solution. This can be useful in MSBuild scenarios when multiple projects are being edited. This command can be executed from the solution node. Reload Projects This command reloads all unloaded projects in a solution. It can be executed from the solution node. Remove and Sort Usings This command removes and sort using statements for all classes given a project. It is useful, for example, in removing or organizing the using statements generated by a wizard. This command can be executed from a solution node or a single project node. Extract Constant This command creates a constant definition statement for a selected text. Extracting a constant effectively names a literal value, which can improve readability. This command can be executed from the code editor by right-clicking selected text. Clear Recent File List This command clears the Visual Studio recent file list. The Clear Recent File List command brings up a Clear File dialog which allows any or all recent files to be selected. Clear Recent Project List This command clears the Visual Studio recent project list. The Clear Recent Project List command brings up a Clear File dialog which allows any or all recent projects to be selected. How to temporarily disable extensions Extensions provide a great way to make Visual Studio even more powerful, and can help improve your overall productivity.  One thing to keep in mind, though, is that extensions run within the Visual Studio process (DevEnv.exe) and so a bug within an extension can impact both the stability and performance of Visual Studio.  If you ever run into a situation where things seem slower than they should, or if you crash repeatedly, please temporarily disable any installed extensions and see if that fixes the problem.  You can do this for extensions that were installed via the online gallery by re-running the extension manager (using the Tools->Extension Manager menu option) and by selecting the “Installed Extensions” node on the top-left of the dialog – and then by clicking “Disable” on any of the extensions within your installed list: Hope this helps, Scott

  • Multiple PHP versions running as cgi

    - by Pierre
I'm trying to install a second version of PHP, to run alongside the current version of php. I've compiled the latest php source from github (5.5-DEV), and I'm trying to run it as CGI. Here is my virtual host config: <VirtualHost *:8055> DocumentRoot /Library/WebServer/Documents/ ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ /usr/local/php55/cgi Action php55-cgi /cgi-bin/php-cgi AddHandler php55-cgi .php <Directory /Library/WebServer/Documents/> Options Indexes FollowSymLinks Includes ExecCGI AllowOverride All Order Allow,Deny Allow from all </Directory> DirectoryIndex index.html index.php </VirtualHost> But when I go to http://127.0.0.1:8055/info.php, I get the following error: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /cgi-bin/php-cgi/info.php on this server Edit I'm now switching between LoadModule php5_module /usr/local/php54/libphp5.so and LoadModule php5_module /usr/local/php55/libphp5.so It works for now, but is not ideal. I would like to have the different versions of php on different virtual hosts

  • Setup secure shared hosting (Apache, PHP, MySQL)

    - by Apaz
So I'm setting up a shared hosting with Apache, PHP, MySQL and the biggest question mark is how to do with PHP, since there is a million options out there how to configure it securely. The plan is: Chroot for MySQL (built in support for chroot) Chroot for Apache (mod_security) Each user executing their PHP-scripts as their own user (see below) Set open_basedir Disable all "evil" php-functions (allow_url_fopen, system, exec, and so on) Ive looked at suexec and suphp but they seems very slow; http://blog.stuartherbert.com/php/2007/12/18/using-suexec-to-secure-a-shared-server/ http://blog.stuartherbert.com/php/2008/01/18/using-suphp-to-secure-a-shared-server/ So I've looked some more and found some other solutions: apache2-mpm-itk + mod_php(?) mod_fcgid + php-fpm mod_fastcgi + php-fpm Ive tried a simple setup with mod_fastcgi + php-fpm and it seems to work, runs as correct user and so on, but the protection against directory traveling is still open_basedir(?) One solution for that could be to use php-fpm's chroot option, but that causes a lot of other issues like domain name resolver does not work sending mail does not work Tips?

  • PHP 5.3 on IIS gives 404 error in CGI mode

    - by reinier
Slowly losing my mind here. I had PHP 5.2 working fine (ISAPI) under IIS, but for some extension I needed 5.3. So no worries, I installed this but it turns out ISAPI is not supplied anymore. I followed the install tutorials for fastcgi and ended up with a 500 internal server error for every PHP page served. So my current situation is: I have fastcgi removed. In my websites I have added PHP (head, get, post) and routed them to c:\php\php-cgi.exe. Result: every PHP page I try (even the ones with just text) gives 404 not found error. Any HTML file I put in the same folder, serves without a hitch. Who can help me please... How hard can something like this be right? For me apparently very hard. Extra information: ran the installer as suggested below. Set it to use fastcgi. my fcgiext.ini file looks like this now: [types] php=c:\php\php-cgi.exe [c:\php\php-cgi.exe] exepath=c:\php\php-cgi.exe from the command-line a 3 line PHP file with just phpinfo(); works fine from the server the same PHP file with just phpinfo(); results in the internal server 500 error. from the server a PHP file with just text works fine when changing the document types in IIS management console and point the PHP extension directly to c:\php\php-cgi.exe results in 404 for every PHP file the php.ini is the php.ini.production file which came in the distribution. No edits were made. Setting the IIS PHP handler directly to PHP (not via fastcgi) c:\php\php-cgi.exe results in the following: display a PHP page with only text....works fine display a page with only phpinfo(); results in 404 not found

I've posted my error logs below example.com error.log: [Fri Oct 26 10:10:08 2012] [warn] [client 23.23.xxx.xx] (104)Connection reset by peer: mod_fcgid: error reading data from FastCGI server [Fri Oct 26 10:10:08 2012] [error] [client 23.23.xxx.xx] Premature end of script headers: wp-cron.php [Fri Oct 26 10:50:04 2012] [warn] [client 190.213.xxx.xxx] (104)Connection reset by peer: mod_fcgid: error reading data from FastCGI server, referer: https://www.example.com/wp-admin/ [Fri Oct 26 10:50:04 2012] [error] [client 190.213.xxx.xxx] Premature end of script headers: admin.php, referer: https://www.example.com/wp-admin/ [Fri Oct 26 10:58:14 2012] [warn] [client 190.213.xxx.xxx] (104)Connection reset by peer: mod_fcgid: error reading data from FastCGI server, referer: https://www.example.com/wp-admin/network/index.php [Fri Oct 26 10:58:15 2012] [error] [client 190.213.xxx.xxx] Premature end of script headers: admin-ajax.php, referer: https://www.example.com/wp-admin/network/index.php [Fri Oct 26 10:58:56 2012] [warn] [client 190.213.xxx.xxx] (104)Connection reset by peer: mod_fcgid: error reading data from FastCGI server, referer: https://www.example.com/wp-admin/network/index.php [Fri Oct 26 10:58:57 2012] [error] [client 190.213.xxx.xxx] Premature end of script headers: plugins.php, referer: https://www.example.com/wp-admin/network/index.php [Fri Oct 26 10:59:18 2012] [warn] [client 190.213.xxx.xxx] (104)Connection reset by peer: mod_fcgid: error reading data from FastCGI server, referer: https://www.example.com/wp-admin/network/index.php [Fri Oct 26 10:59:18 2012] [error] [client 190.213.xxx.xxx] Premature end of script headers: admin-ajax.php, referer: https://www.example.com/wp-admin/network/index.php [Fri Oct 26 11:01:49 2012] [warn] [client 190.213.xxx.xxx] (104)Connection reset by peer: mod_fcgid: error reading data from FastCGI server, referer: https://www.example.com/wp-admin/ [Fri Oct 26 11:01:49 2012] [warn] [client 190.213.xxx.xxx] (104)Connection reset by peer: mod_fcgid: ap_pass_brigade failed in handle_request_ipc function, referer: https://www.example.com/wp-admin/ Apache Log: php (pre-forking): Cannot allocate memory php (pre-forking): Cannot allocate memory Recipient names must be specified Recipient names must be specified php (pre-forking): Cannot allocate memory php (pre-forking): Cannot allocate memory php (pre-forking): Cannot allocate memory [Fri Oct 26 10:49:33 2012] [warn] mod_fcgid: cleanup zombie process 2852 [Fri Oct 26 10:49:33 2012] [warn] mod_fcgid: cleanup zombie process 2851 [Fri Oct 26 10:49:33 2012] [warn] mod_fcgid: cleanup zombie process 2853 [Fri Oct 26 10:58:22 2012] [warn] mod_fcgid: process 2892 graceful kill fail, sending SIGKILL php (pre-forking): Cannot allocate memory [Fri Oct 26 10:59:21 2012] [warn] mod_fcgid: process 2894 graceful kill fail, sending SIGKILL [Fri Oct 26 10:59:25 2012] [warn] mod_fcgid: process 2866 graceful kill fail, sending SIGKILL suexec.log: [2012-10-25 16:05:36]: uid: (1002/username) gid: (1002/username) cmd: php-fcgi [2012-10-25 18:09:38]: uid: (1002/username) gid: (1002/username) cmd: php-fcgi [2012-10-25 18:09:51]: uid: (1002/username) gid: (1002/username) cmd: php-fcgi [2012-10-25 18:14:03]: uid: (1002/username) gid: (1002/username) cmd: php-fcgi [2012-10-25 18:14:06]: uid: (1002/username) gid: (1002/username) cmd: php-fcgi [2012-10-25 18:14:35]: uid: (1002/username) gid: (1002/username) cmd: php-fcgi [2012-10-25 20:20:27]: uid: (1002/username) gid: (1002/username) cmd: php-fcgi [2012-10-25 20:20:29]: uid: (1002/username) gid: (1002/username) cmd: php-fcgi [2012-10-25 20:20:31]: uid: (1002/username) gid: (1002/username) cmd: php-fcgi [2012-10-25 21:42:12]: uid: (1002/username) gid: (1002/username) cmd: php-fcgi [2012-10-25 22:56:50]: uid: (1002/username) gid: (1002/username) cmd: php-fcgi [2012-10-26 02:34:43]: uid: (1002/username) gid: (1002/username) cmd: php-fcgi [2012-10-26 04:25:07]: uid: (1002/username) gid: (1002/username) cmd: php-fcgi [2012-10-26 06:35:19]: uid: (1002/username) gid: (1002/username) cmd: php-fcgi [2012-10-26 06:40:05]: uid: (1002/username) gid: (1002/username) cmd: php-fcgi [2012-10-26 07:22:45]: uid: (1002/username) gid: (1002/username) cmd: php-fcgi [2012-10-26 10:10:05]: uid: (1002/username) gid: (1002/username) cmd: php-fcgi [2012-10-26 10:49:24]: uid: (1002/username) gid: (1002/username) cmd: php-fcgi [2012-10-26 10:49:24]: uid: (1002/username) gid: (1002/username) cmd: php-fcgi based on the logs can any determine what might be the cause of this? • PHP execute command as subcommand

    - by Thomaschaaf
I have the following 2 files and am executing them on linux (debian). File1.php <?php exec("php -f file2.php > /dev/null 2>&1 &"); sleep(100); File2.php <?php exec("sleep 30 > /dev/null 2>&1 &"); exec("sleep 30 > /dev/null 2>&1 &"); sleep(100); The way it currently is it first starts file1.php and fires up file2.php and immediatly begins the sleep commands. It does not wait for the first sleep to finish to continue. The problem is that the file2.php and sleep commands are not subcommands of file1.php and I can't simply kill it to kill all subcommands. My htop looks like this: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/5910/Jing/2011-01-13_1611.png I am searching for a way to have the commands be subcommands of file1.php so that I can easily kill them all :) what I have: '- php -f file2.php '-sleep 30 '-sleep 30 '- php -f file1.php basically I want this: '- php -f file1.php '- php -f file2.php '-sleep 30 '-sleep 30

  • Need help trouble shooting high CPU usage by PHP-fpm

    - by user432506
    There is a problem that is driving me crazy. After the day I tried to fix the CPU usage problem of my VPS, the CPU load has grown from 60% to 150%, and I have no idea what causes the problem. Please help me. I had installed a copy of mediawiki on a Linode 1024. The wiki is running on Niginx + PHP-fpm + MySql. The wiki doesn't have much traffic, only around 4000 requests/day, mostly from Google and Bing bots. It had been using around 60% (of total 400% on the Linode) of the CPU before. I thought it was a bit high, so two day ago, I was trying to fix the problem (not knowing what was waiting for me). I did nothing but added a new empty line to wiki's configure file, which would change the modified time of the configure file, and then all the cached page files would be set invalidated. I had done that before, and that would cause high CPU usage, but normally it would take only hours to let things back to normal again. Not this time, my CPU usage has been around 150% for more than two days. It is php-fpm using most of CPU reassures. Using 100% of three cores is not rare. I hadn't seen that before. There are other sites on the Linode, but it should be the wiki. Because if I offline the wiki, CPU usage will drop back to around 40% soon. The day I also duplicated php-fpm.conf, and opened it, but didn't changed it. I have no idea what I did wrong. I here ask for help to save myself from being crazy!!! It is php-fpm. Is there a way to find out what is it doing? I mean like which scripts are related and what function codes are running? top: top - 06:34:33 up 10 days, 4:23, 2 users, load average: 1.10, 1.24, 1.37 Tasks: 76 total, 4 running, 72 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie Cpu(s): 61.1%us, 3.1%sy, 0.0%ni, 32.8%id, 2.9%wa, 0.0%hi, 0.0%si, 0.1%st Mem: 1028684k total, 945192k used, 83492k free, 89580k buffers Swap: 524284k total, 18084k used, 506200k free, 530380k cached PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 26721 www-data 20 0 208m 54m 34m R 99 5.4 0:09.07 /opt/php5/sbin/php-fpm --fpm-config /opt/php5/etc/php-fpm.conf 26592 www-data 20 0 207m 45m 26m R 91 4.5 0:12.77 /opt/php5/sbin/php-fpm --fpm-config /opt/php5/etc/php-fpm.conf 26706 www-data 20 0 196m 43m 34m S 47 4.3 0:15.19 /opt/php5/sbin/php-fpm --fpm-config /opt/php5/etc/php-fpm.conf 26583 www-data 20 0 197m 45m 35m S 33 4.5 0:19.08 /opt/php5/sbin/php-fpm --fpm-config /opt/php5/etc/php-fpm.conf 26787 www-data 20 0 206m 36m 18m R 25 3.7 0:00.41 /opt/php5/sbin/php-fpm --fpm-config /opt/php5/etc/php-fpm.conf 26661 www-data 20 0 207m 46m 26m S 13 4.6 0:19.87 /opt/php5/sbin/php-fpm --fpm-config /opt/php5/etc/php-fpm.conf 1971 mysql 20 0 155m 57m 3952 S 8 5.7 383:57.81 /usr/sbin/mysqld 242 root 20 0 0 0 0 S 1 0.0 0:51.36 [kworker/3:1] 5711 root 20 0 139m 95m 580 S 1 9.5 0:41.30 /usr/local/bin/memcached -d -u root -m 128 -p 11211 19463 root 20 0 190m 3984 1284 S 1 0.4 0:02.66 /opt/php5/sbin/php-fpm --fpm-config /opt/php5/etc/php-fpm.conf 29100 www-data 20 0 10928 5540 820 S 1 0.5 4:49.05 nginx: worker process vmstat 30 procs -----------memory---------- ---swap-- -----io---- -system-- ----cpu---- r b swpd free buff cache si so bi bo in cs us sy id wa 0 0 16912 81456 90784 554172 0 0 4 6 3 2 11 1 87 1 0 0 16912 78036 91000 555356 0 0 38 34 1397 375 12 1 87 0 4 0 16912 31776 91528 557508 0 0 78 42 3197 487 45 1 52 1 1 0 16912 83356 91768 558576 0 0 35 56 2608 449 32 1 67 1 1 0 16912 81548 92040 559720 0 0 41 31 1243 432 8 1 91 1 2 0 16912 53056 92332 562744 0 0 105 33 2013 581 17 1 81 1 2 0 16912 73236 92552 564844 0 0 68 36 1968 615 16 1 82 1 0 0 16912 91612 92904 566676 0 0 69 35 1845 692 13 1 85 1 1 0 16912 71248 93180 568428 0 0 58 33 1952 604 15 1 82 1 1 0 16868 55952 93516 572660 1 0 144 42 1801 637 12 1 86 1 2 0 16868 48324 94416 577844 0 0 189 66 2058 702 17 1 80 2 1 0 16928 58644 94592 578184 0 2 160 49 2578 723 25 1 70 3 5 0 16928 22600 94980 580568 0 0 89 32 1496 361 13 0 85 1 0 0 16988 49256 94500 576396 0 2 41 37 1601 426 14 1 85 0 5 0 18084 24336 86032 502748 0 37 83 68 2989 562 42 1 56 0 1 0 18084 123604 86376 506996 0 0 118 41 2201 573 22 1 76 1 2 0 18084 126984 86752 508876 0 0 64 53 1620 490 13 1 85 1 2 0 18084 103104 87148 510768 0 0 71 37 2757 602 33 1 64 1

  • Creating Multiple Users on Single PHP-FPM Pool

    - by Vince Kronlein
Have PHP-FPM/FastCGI up and running on my cPanel/WHM server but I'd like have it allow for multiple users off of a single pool. Getting all vhosts to run off a single pool is simple by adding this to the Apache include editor under Global Post Vhost: <IfModule mod_fastcgi.c> FastCGIExternalServer /usr/local/sbin/php-fpm -host 127.0.0.1:9000 AddHandler php-fastcgi .php Action php-fastcgi /usr/local/sbin/php-fpm.fcgi ScriptAlias /usr/local/spin/php-fpm.fcgi /usr/local/sbin/php-fpm <Directory /usr/local/sbin> Options ExecCGI FollowSymLinks SetHandler fastcgi-script Order allow, deny Allow from all </Directory> </IfModule> But I'd like to find a way to implement php running under the user, but sharing the pool. I manage and control all the domains that run under the pool so I'm not concerned about security of files per account, I just need to make sure all scripting can be executed by the user who owns the files, instead of needing to change file permissions for each account, or having to create tons of vhost include files.

  • where can I find the php.ini for php-cli

    - by Elzo Valugi
It appears that the php command line is using a different php.ini from the main php interpreter. I am using Ubuntu 10.4. My problem is that in the main php.ini I have included an extra path for an external library, but in the cli version this is not present, and so I have a path inclusion error. thanks

  • PHP 5.4 turn display_errors off php.ini

    - by Ethan H
I need PHP errors not to be displayed but logged. I am using PHP 5.4 My current code to log errors in my php.ini is: log_errors = 1 error_log = "/path-to-file/error_log.txt" Which works however I am getting a 500 internal server error trying to turn error displaying off using display_errors. I have tried using the following, all returning 500 errors. display_errors = 0 display_errors = "0" display_errors = false display_errors = "false" display_errors = Off display_errors = "Off" According to the PHP documentation, as of PHP 5.4, it is a string. What am I suppose to set display_errors to to turn error displaying off?

  • How To Change What Version of PHP Apache2 Uses?

    - by nicorellius
I just discovered that I am using the wrong version of PHP for a CRM application. Once I figured out how to make a simple phpinfo() script to tell me what Apache2 is using, I tried changing the php.ini such that my webserver would use the PHP I want. Well, this is my problem. Not sure how to do that. I compiled the version of PHP I want to /etc here: /etc/php-5.2.8/ Inside this, there was a php.ini-recommended file that I made some changes to and renamed to php.ini so PHP would use it. But when I opened my browser and cleared my history and went to the http://localhost<CRM dir>/install.php address, the wizard still says I'm not usign the correct version of PHP. Based on this post what do I have to do to change the version of PHP that shows up after I run my test.php script? In other words, phpinfo() says I'm running PHP 5.3.2, but I want to change it to my compiled 5.2.8 version located in /etc.

  • PHP extension causes symbol lookup error

    - by Christian
Dear, I installed - or better tried to - the NMCryptGate Extension for PHP on my Debian 5.0.8 server. I did this by compiling the sources which came up with no error message. Calling phpinfo() I can see the extension as enabled. BUT, whenever I try calling a method from this extension I get an error logged to the apache error log: /usr/sbin/apache2: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/php5/20060613+lfs/nmcryptgate.so: undefined symbol: nmlistalloc What is missing? I got two packages from the software company: the php module sources and some files which should - according to their path inside the tar - go to /usr/local/bin|doc|include|lib. I moved them there without any effect. Each of these two packages has its own config file almost looking the same: \# libnmcryptgate.la - a libtool library file \# Generated by ltmain.sh - GNU libtool 1.3.4 (1.385.2.196 1999/12/07 21:47:57) \# \# Please DO NOT delete this file \# It is necessary for linking the library \# The name that we can dlopen(3) dlname='' \# Names of this library library_names='libnmcryptgate.so.1 libnmcryptgate.so libnmcryptgate.so' \# The name of the static archive old_library='' \# Libraries that this one depends upon dependency_libs=' -L. -L/usr/ssl/lib -L/usr/local/ssl/lib -L/usr/local/lib -lssl -lcrypto' \# Version information for libnmcryptgate current=1 age=0 revision=29 \# Is this an already installed library installed=yes \# Directory that this library needs to be installed in libdir='/usr/local/lib' I tried several ways to get it right: moving files, symlinking, changing configurations - always followed by restarting apache - no success. I guess I just have to move the files to the correct location or change the libdir inside the config files but meanwhile I'm totally confused by the two packages: do I need both, which config rules what, do I have to use the libdir variable? And for what? ... Anybody out there hinting me to my source of failure? Thank you in advance, regards, Christian
