  • NASM and a question about ADC - ASM 8086

    Hello,I study assembly on High-school and I would like to try to make assembly programs at home. I downloaded NASM but I don't understand how to run the .s files with it - if you can write a simple way here to run it I'd glad :-) and in addition I have a question: when I use ADC for exmaple: AL = 01 and BL = 02, and CF = 1, when I make this: ADC AL,BL Will AL be 3 or 4? (with the CF addition or without?) Thank you!!

    I have some numbers in AH, AL, BL, BH registers. I need to check whether there is 0 bit in each of the registers in left half of the number. If yes, then put into check variable value 10 else -10. How can I do this?   • Autocomplete for generic types in Eclipse

    "Refer to objects by their interfaces" is a good practise, as mentioned in Effective Java. So for example i prefer List<String> al = new ArrayList<String>(); over ArrayList<String> al = new ArrayList<String>(); in my code. One annoying thing is that if i type ArrayList<String> al = new and then hit Ctrl+Space in Eclipse i get ArrayList<String>() as propostal. But if i type List al = new and then hit Ctrl+Space i will get only propostal to define anonymous inner class, but not propostals such as new ArrayList<String>(), what is 99% the case, or for example new Vector<String>(). Is there any way to get the subclasses as propostals for generic types?

  • FBX SDK Not Converting Child Node Coordinate Systems

    I am trying to import a scene into my application from an fbx file. In 3DS Max, the scene and it’s local translations are as follows: Root (0, 0, 0) '-Sphere001 (-15, 30, 0) ' '-Sphere002 (-2, -30, 0) ' '-Sphere003 (-30, -20, 0) '-Cube001 (35, -15, 0) This is the code that I am using to get the translations of each node: FbxDouble3 fbxPosition = pChild->LclTranslation.Get(); FbxDouble3 fbxRotation = pChild->LclRotation.Get(); FbxDouble3 fbxScale = pChild->LclScaling.Get(); When I try to import the scene, the first node from the scene is getting converted to a right handed system, using this conversion: (X, Z, -Y), but none of their child nodes are. after importing the scene, the local translations I get are as follows: Root (0, 0, 0) --Sphere001 (-15, 0, -30) - converted ----Sphere002 (-2, -30, 0) - not converted ------Sphere003 (-30, -20, 0) - not converted --Cube001 (35, 0, 15) - converted Can anybody help me make sense of this?   • How to go about unused CSS issues

    I am running some speedtests on a blog, and I always get complaints about unused CSS. But this is not CSS that I never use, it is just not used on that particular page. Now I work in a structured way, but there still has to be some CSS in the file that will not be used, because you need it on another page. I do not think that using different CSS files on different pages is the way to go, I think you are much better off just creating one big file that can be cached. Now is there an elegant way of dealing with this, or do you just stick with it.

  • How can I keep the cpu temp low?

    I have an HP pavilion dv7, I'm using ubuntu 12.04 so the overheating problem with sandybridge cpu is a lot better. However my laptop is still becoming too hot to keep on my legs. The problem is that the fan wait too much before starting, so the medium temp is too hight. When I'm using windows 7 the laptop is room-temperature cold, I've absolutely no problem. On windows the fan is always spinning very low & very silently so the heat is continuously removed, without reaching an unconfortable temp. How can I force the computer to act like that also on ubuntu?   • Responsive website VS mobile website

    I am creating a new blog. Nowadays, especially for a blog, it's important that the websites are accessible for all devices. Now I have to make a choice on what to do. I have seen 2 options. Option 1 is to go with a normal fixed website, for example 960px wide (grid960). And for mobile users have a mobile version. This takes some more time, but then there are 2 good versions of the website. Option 2 I haven't seen a lot yet, creating a adaptive website, or also called responsive website. I am now looking into the LESS framework, where the website automatically switches to to required width. Only downside is that when the normal browser is re-sized, everything re-sizes. Another problem I found is that pinch-to-zoom on devices does not work. Now the question is, which one would you prefer for a blog. One that constantly changes layout when you move your device, or one where you have the choice to view mobile and normal. If there are any other options, please let me know.

  • Can AJAX in a CMS slow down your server

    I am currently developing some plugins for WordPress, and I was wondering which route to take. Let's take an example, you want to display the last 3 tweets on your page. Option 1 You do things the normal way inside WordPress. Someone enters the website, while generating the page, you fetch the tweets in php via the twitter api, and just display them where you want. Now the small problem with this is, that you have to wait for the response from twitter. This takes a few ms. NO real problem, but this is question is just out of curiosity. Option 2 Here you don't do anything in WordPress on the initial load, but you do have the API inside. Now you just generate the page, and as soon as the page is done on the client side, you do a small AJAX call back to the server via a WordPress plugin, to fetch your latest tweets. Also called asynchronously. Now the problem with this IMO is that you have much more stress on your server. For starters you have two HTTP requests instead of one. Secondly the WordPress core has to load two times instead of one. Other options Now I know there are a lot of other options: 1) Getting the tweets directly via javascript, no stress on the server at all. 2) Cache the tweets so they are fetched from the DB instead of using the API every time. 3) Getting the tweets from an ajax call that is not a WordPress plugin. 4) Many more. My Question Now my question is if you only compare 1 and 2, which would be a better choice.

  • How to create a good sitemap for dynamic website

    I have a website with dynamic content and different kind of pages. I have some pages that rarely change, and I have pages like blogs that change often. The blog pages also have links for sorting, for example sorting on date, asc, desc. On some of the pages I also have links to different tabbed content, and links that are just anchor links. Now when I use a xml sitemap generator then all the links are thrown into the site, and so I don't think all the links are really relevant. The blogposts up until now are also taken into the sitemap. Is this really necessary? I think the links to the blogposts can be indexed just fine. Is the best way to make a sitemap just to manually assign the main menu links to the sitemap, or is indexing everything really recommended?

  • Will small random dynamic snippets break caching

    I am busy writing a WordPress plugin. Now most users have cache plugins installed, they cache the pages. I know also some webservers as nginx have php caching and whatnot. There are also things like memcached. Now I have to admit I do not know exactly how they work, if anyone have some good links on how they work I would be glad. Some links where it's explained simple, not to technical. Now the question. My plugin displays different statistics on posts, they are always different, will this break the caching of the page. To take is a step further, sometimes the statistics of the post needs updating, and there is a small javascript snippet added to the page. Now will these two action result in the page not caching, or am I ok.

    I am searching for a good recourse where I can advertise my open source project. I have made a web-development framework which I want to make available to download, and I want to target a large audience. It is an open source project so I make no money off of it, so I do not really want to pay for advertisement. I already pay for the server where the website runs, and I have spent a lot of time developing it. I opened account on various search engines webmaster tools, so people can find it on there. I have also made a video-sharing account where I uploaded a few tutorials. This can accumulate some traffic also. Can someone recommend any more places to get your work spread.

  • VPN says "successfully connected" and I'm internet-connected, but I can't access network resources

    To explain, I'm a university student who uses the VPN to access sites like Nature, PhysicsToday, etc. I have this VPN working on Windows 7 and I've got access to nearly every journal. However on my Ubuntu 12.04 partition I'm able to connect to the internet (in fact I'm typing this while connected through the VPN presumably) but journals have locked me out. Is there a problem on my end that I can fix?
