  • Converting an array to JSON and passing that to asmx

    Hi. I am trying to use JSON.stringify() (from json2.js of json[dot]org ) to convert a JavaScript array to JSON string and to pass it to an asmx web method. I use jQuery AJAX. The call reaches the web method where I take a List <Object> as parameter but I get an empty list there in debug mode. My JSON string looks like well formed with all data , I even tried having single-quotes and double-quotes(escaped) around the 'names' of the JSON string. Please help.

    I have a function which spawns various types of threads, one of the thread types needs to be spawned every x seconds. I currently have it like this: bool isTime( Time t ) { return t >= now(); } void spawner() { while( 1 ) { Time t = now(); if( isTime( t ) )//is time is called in more than one place in the real function { launchthread() t = now() + offset; } } } but I'm thinking of changing it to: bool isTime() { static Time t = now(); if( t >= now() ) { t = now() + offset; return true; } return false; } void spawner() { if( isTime() ) launchthread(); } I think the second way is neater but I generally avoid statics in much the same way I avoid global data; anyone have any thoughts on the different styles?

    I'm trying to pass an array of (varchar) data into an Oracle procedure. The Oracle procedure would be either called from SQL*Plus or from another PL/SQL procedure like so: BEGIN pr_perform_task('1','2','3','4'); END; pr_perform_task will read each of the input parameters and perform the tasks. I'm not sure as to how I can achieve this. My first thought was to use an input parameter of type varray but I'm getting Error: PLS-00201: identifier 'VARRAY' must be declared error, when the procedure definiton looks like this: CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE PR_DELETE_RECORD_VARRAY(P_ID VARRAY) IS To summarize, how can I pass the data as an array, let the SP loop through each of the parameters and perform the task ? I'm using Oracle 10gR2 as my database.

    Hi, I've just started to play around with MVP in asp.net. One thing I quite cant figure out is how do I pass information, i.e. an integer variable from one view(webform) to another. Let's I have a customerlistView which is mapped to a customerlist.aspx page. From it I select a customer and it's record id. Say I want to display the customer's details in another view (i.e customerDetailView, customerdetail.aspx). How do I achieve that ? Does that mean customerlistView would call the presenter of the customerdetail and cause a page redirect ? Any ideas ? thanks

    HI i am in desperate need for help here, I am making a web request and getting a json string with Response.ContentLenth=2246 but when i parse it in a string it gives only few 100 characters, i traked it down that it is only getting values less than 964. strings length is still 2246 but remaining values are just (\0) null characters. Its also giving an error Unterminated string passed in. (2246): at following line FacebookFeed feed = sr.Deserialize<FacebookFeed>(data); It works fine if the response stream contains characters less than 964 chars.   • Passing filtering functions to Where() in LINQ-to-SQL

    I'm trying to write a set of filtering functions that can be chained together to progressively filter a data set. What's tricky about this is that I want to be able to define the filters in a different context from that in which they'll be used. I've gotten as far as being able to pass a very basic function to the Where() clause in a LINQ statement: filters file: Func<item, bool> returnTrue = (i) => true; repository file: public IQueryable<item> getItems() { return DataContext.Items.Where(returnTrue); } This works. However, as soon as I try to use more complicated logic, the trouble begins: filters file: Func<item, bool> isAssignedToUser = (i) => i.assignedUserId == userId; repository file: public IQueryable<item> getItemsAssignedToUser(int userId) { return DataContext.Items.Where(isAssignedToUser); } This won't even build because userId isn't in the same scope as isAssignedToUser(). I've also tried declaring a function that takes the userId as a parameter: Func<item, int, bool> isAssignedToUser = (i, userId) => i.assignedUserId == userId; The problem with this is that it doesn't fit the function signature that Where() is expecting: Func<item, bool> There must be a way to do this, but I'm at a loss for how.     I have this procedure i my package: PROCEDURE pr_export_blob( p_name IN VARCHAR2, p_blob IN BLOB, p_part_size IN NUMBER); I would like for parameter p_blob to be either BLOB or CLOB. When I call this procedure with BLOB parameter, everything is fine. When I call it with CLOB parameter, I get compilation error: PLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'pr_export_blob' Is there a way to write a procedure, that can take either of those types as parameter? Some kind of a superclass maybe?

    Hi, I'm writing a simple test program to pass multidimensional arrays. I've been struggling to get the signature of the callee function. void p(int (*s)[100], int n) { ... } In the code I have: int s1[10][100], s2[10][1000]; p(s1, 100); This code appears to work, but it's not what I intended. I want to the function p to be oblivious whether the range of values is 100 or 1000, but it should know there are 10 pointers. I tried as a first attempt: void p(int (*s)[10], int n) // n = # elements in the range of the array and also: void p(int **s, int n) // n = # of elements in the range of the array But to no avail can I seem to get this correct. I don't want to hardcode the 100 or 1000, but instead pass it in, but there will always be 10 arrays. Obviously, I want to avoid having to declare the function: void p(int *s1, int *s2, int *s3, ..., int *s10, int n) FYI, I'm looking at the answers to a similar question but still confused.

    How can I get the javac task to use an existing fileset? In my build.xml I have created several filesets to be used in multiple places throughout build file. Here is how they have been defined: <fileset dir = "${src}" id = "java.source.all"> <include name = "**/*.java" /> </fileset> <fileset dir = "${src}" id = "java.source.examples"> <include name = "**/Examples/**/*.java" /> </fileset> <fileset dir = "${src}" id = "java.source.tests"> <include name = "**/Tests/*.java" /> </fileset> <fileset dir = "${src}" id = "java.source.project"> <include name = "**/*.java" /> <exclude name = "**/Examples/**/*.java" /> <exclude name = "**/Tests/**/*.java" /> </fileset> I have also used macrodef to compile the java files so the javac task does not need to be repeated multiple times. The macro looks like this: <macrodef name="compile"> <attribute name="sourceref"/> <sequential> <javac srcdir = "${src}" destdir = "${build}" classpathref = "classpath" includeantruntime = "no" debug = "${debug}"> <filelist dir="." files="@{sourceref}" /> <-- email is about this </javac> </sequential> What I'm trying to do is compile only the classes that are needed for specific targets not all the targets in the source tree. And do so without having to specify the files every time. Here are how the targets are defined: <target name = "compile-examples" depends = "init"> <compile sourceref = "${toString:java.source.examples}" /> </target> <target name = "compile-project" depends = "init"> <compile sourceref = "${toString:java.source.project}" /> </target> <target name = "compile-tests" depends = "init"> <compile sourceref = "${toString:java.source.tests}" /> </target> As you can see each target specifies the java files to be compiled as a simi-colon separated list of absolute file names. The only problem with this is that javac does not support filelist. It also does not support fileset, path or pathset. I've tried using but it treats the list as a single file name. Another thing I tried is sending the reference directly (not using toString) and using but include does not have a ref attribute. SO THE QUESTION IS: How do you get the javac task to use a reference to a fileset that was defined in another part of the build file? I'm not interested in solutions that cause me to have multiple javac tasks. Completely re-writting the macro is acceptable. Changes to the targets are also acceptable provided redundant code between targets is kept to a minimum. p.s. Another problem is that fileset wants a comma separated list. I've only done a brief search for a way to convert semi-colons to commas and haven't found a way to do that. p.p.s. Sorry for the yelling but some people are too quick to post responses that don't address the subject.

  • Apache + Passenger not passing on custom status codes

    I'm currently building an API. This API communicates with the client via status codes. I created several custom status codes (as per http://www.w3.org/Protocols/rfc2616/rfc2616-sec6.html#sec6) in order to inform the client on certain things. For example I introduced the 481 status code to signify a specific client error. The Rails app I wrote works like a charm. But when Apache and Passenger are serving it things run aground. When I provoke a 481 error the response header looks like this: HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error Date: Wed, 19 May 2010 06:37:05 GMT Server: Apache/2.2.9 (Debian) Phusion_Passenger/2.2.5 mod_ssl/2.2.9 OpenSSL/0.9.8g X-Powered-By: Phusion Passenger (mod_rails/mod_rack) 2.2.5 Cache-Control: no-cache X-Runtime: 1938 Set-Cookie: _session_id=32bc259dc763193ad57ae7dc19d5f57e; path=/; HttpOnly Content-Length: 62 Status: 481 Content-Type: application/json; charset=utf-8 As you can see the original Status header is still there almost a the end. But the 'true' status header (the very first line) is quiet different. It seems that Apache doesn't like Status headers it has no knowledge of and thus assumes an error. Is there anyway to fix this? Maybe via the mod_headers ( http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/mod_headers.html) module? I don't know enough of Apache to figure this out on my own. Thanks,

    Hello I have a number of rich:inplaceInput tags in RichFaces which represent numbers in an array. The validator allows integers only. When a user clicks in an input and changes a value, how can I get the bean to sort the array given the new number and reRender the list of rich:inplaceInput tags so that they're in numerical order? EG <a4j:region> <rich:dataTable value="#{MyBacking.config}" var="feed" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%" border="0" columns="5" id="Admin"> ... <a4j:repeat... <a4j:region id="MsgCon"> <rich:inplaceInput value="#{h.id}" validator="#{MyBacking.validateID}" id="andID" showControls="true"> <a4j:support event="onviewactivated" action="#{MyBacking.sort}" reRender="Admin" /> </rich:inplaceInput> </a4j:region> </a4j:repeat> </data:Table> </a4j:region> Note I do NOT want to use dataTable sort functions. The table is complicated and I've specified id="Admin" (ie the whole table) to reRender as I've not found a way to send more localised values to the backing bean through the inplaceInput. This question is about how to use a4j:support action attribute to call the sort method so that when the reRender rerenders the component, it outputs the list in sorted order. I have the sort method working ok when I click a button to sort, but I want to have the list sorted automatically as soon as a new valid value is entered into the inplaceInput component. Thanks

    Hey, I'm not sure that silly question, but I ask: So, if there is an anonymous function I can give it as another anonymous functions parameter, if it has been already stored a variable. But, whats in that case, if I have stored only one function in a variable, and add the second directly as a parameter into it? Can I add parameters to the non-stored function? Fist example (thats what i understand :) ): $func = function($str){ return $str; }; $func2 = function($str){ return $str; }; $var = $func($func2('asd')); var_dump($var); // prints out string(3) "asd" That makes sense for me, but what is with the following one? $func = function($str){ return $str; }; $var = $func(function($str = "asd"){ return $str; }); var_dump($var); /** This prints out: object(Closure)#1 (1) { ["parameter"]=> array(1) { ["$str"]=> string(10) "" } } But why? */ And at the end, can someone recommend me a book or an article, from what i can learn this lambda coding feature of php?     Hello, I think this is a simple one. I have a Codeigniter function which takes the inputs from a form and inserts them into a database. I want to Ajaxify the process. At the moment the first line of the function gets the id field from the form - I need to change this to get the id field from the Ajax post (which references a hidden field in the form containing the necessary value) instead. How do I do this please?
