    Hi, I need to create a 2 tables in html format. each has 5 rows. 1st Table *) 1st row has FRUITS in it, occupying all columns *) 2nd row has January(month), occupying all columns *) 3rd row has names of some 6 fruits (apple, orange, grapes,...)These names do not change. so this row has 6 columns *) 4th row has rates for each fruit ( 10,20,30..) so this has 6 columns. *) 5th row has corresponding message for each fruit showing as Available or not. 2nd table If it is available the background color for the cell should be green and if not RED. *) 1st row has VEGETABLES in it, occupying all columns *) 2nd row has February(month), occupying all columns *) 3rd row has names of some 6 vegetables (tomato, potato..)These names do not change. so this row has 6 columns *) 4th row has rates for each vegetable ( 10,20,30..) so this has 6 columns. *) 5th row has corresponding message for each vegetable showing as Available or not.If it is available the background color for the cell should be green and if not RED. All this data is read from a file having a particular format, it is price The names of fruits and vegetable do not change , it will be same for both the tables. However, it might be possible that data for a particular fruit/vegetable is not present. if it is not present the the column for that should show N/A with white background. I cannot use MIME:Lite for this. Need to use print <

  • Is there a compelling reason to use quantifiers in Perl regular expressions instead of just repeatin

    I was performing a code review for a colleague and he had a regular expression that looked like this: if ($value =~ /^\d\d\d\d$/) { #do stuff } I told him he should change it to: if ($value =~ /^\d{4}$/) { #do stuff } To which he replied that he preferred the first for readability (I find the second more readable, but that's a religious debate I'll save for another day). My question: is there an actual benefit to one over the other?

  • How can I resume downloads in Perl?

    I have a project that depends upon some other binaries to be downloaded from web at install time.For this what i do is: if ( file-present-in-src/) # skip that file else # use wget to download the file The problem with this approach is that when I interrupt a download in middle, and do invoke the script next time, the partially downloaded file is also skipped (which is not desired), also I want wget to resume the download of the partially downloaded file. How should I go about it: Possible Solutions I could think of: Let the file to be downloaded to some file say download_tmp. Move to original file if successful. Handle SIG{'INT'} to write proper cleanup code. But none of these could help resume the partial file download, Any insights?

  • Renaming and Moving Files in Bash or Perl

    HI, I'm completely new to Bash and StackOverflow. I need to move a set of files (all contained in the same folder) to a target folder where files with the same name could already exist. In case a specific file exists, I need to rename the file before moving it, by appending for example an incremental integer to the file name. The extensions should be preserved (in other words, that appended incremental integer should go before the extension). The file names could contain dots in the middle. Originally, I was thinking about comparing the two folders to have a list of the existing files (I did this with "comm"), but then I got a bit stuck. I think I'm just trying to do things in the most complicated possible way. Any hint to do this in the "bash way"? It's OK if it is done in a script other than bash script.

  • Perl "Day too big" - root cause

    I have been helping someone debug some code where the error message was "Day too big". I know that this springs from localtime and the Y2038 bug (most google results appear to be people dealing with cookies expiring well into the future). We appear to have 'fixed' the problem by using time to get the current date. However, given that none of our original dates should have hit the 2038 issue I'm sceptical that we've actually fixed the problem ... Are there other instances that anyone knows of where one would hit "day too big"?

I don't care about the pizza, but i do need that XML to come back out exactly as it was. However, I get the following from XMLout: <root foo="bar" foo2="bar2"> <pizzas pizza="Pepperoni"</pizzas> </root> Thoughts?

    Hello, I have a cmd command that needs to be executed, when the command starts it starts to fill a progressbar. When the cmd command is done the progressbar needs to fill up to 100. This is the code i use, but it gives me an error when the progressbar.Value = 100 comes up. VB gives me a suggestions about Cross Thread, but i don't know how i could make it work with this.

    Hello, I have a sub class that calls a method from a super class. and the method in the super class use a method that is defined in the super class as asbstract(not really abstract) but implemented in the sub class. for example: package BaseClass; sub new { } sub method1 { return someAbstractMethod(); } sub someAbtsractMethod { die "oops, this is an abstract method that should be implemented in a subclass" ; } 1; package SubClass; sub new { } sub someAbtsractMethod { print "now we implement the asbtract method"; } 1; now when I do: $sub = new SubClass(); $sub-method1(); It calls the abstract message and i get the specified error message. if I took off the abstractmethod from the super class and just leave the implementation in the subclass, It does not recognize the method and I get subroutine abstractmethod not found error.

  • Perl Parallel::ForkManager wait_all_children() takes excessively long time

    I have a script that uses Parallel::ForkManager. However, the wait_all_children() process takes incredibly long time even after all child-processes are completed. The way I know is by printing out some timestamps (see below). Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this (I have 16 CPU cores on my machine)? my $pm = Parallel::ForkManager->new(16) for my $i (1..16) { $pm->start($i) and next; ... do something within the child-process ... print (scalar localtime), " Process $i completed.\n"; $pm->finish(); } print (scalar localtime), " Waiting for some child process to finish.\n"; $pm->wait_all_children(); print (scalar localtime), " All processes finished.\n"; Clearly, I'll get the Waiting for some child process to finish message first, with a timestamp of, say, 7:08:35. Then I'll get a list of Process i completed messages, with the last one at 7:10:30. However, I do not receive the message All Processes finished until 7:16:33(!). Why is that 6-minute delay between 7:10:30 and 7:16:33? Thx!

    I want to insert a hash in the db using Storable::nfreeze but the data is not inserted properly. My code is as follows: %rec=(); $rec{'name'} = 'my name'; $rec{'address'} = 'my address'; my $order1 = new Order(); $order1->set_session(\%rec); $self->createOrder($order1); sub createOrder { my $self = $_[0]; my $order = $_[1]; # Retrieve the fields to insert into the database. my $st = $dbh->prepare("insert into order (session,.......) values(?,........)"); my $session = %{$order->get_session()}; $st->execute(&Storable::nfreeze(\%session),.....); $st->finish(); } sub getOrder { ... my $session = &Storable::thaw( $ref->{'session'} ); ..... } The thaw is working fine because I tested it withe some rows that have been inserted correctly, but when I try to get a row that was inserted using the createOrder subroutine, I get an error saying: Storable binary image v36.65 more recent than I am (v2.7) at blib/lib/Storable.pm (autosplit into blib/lib/auto/Storable/thaw.al) line 415 The error comes from the line that have thaw. The nfreeze did not store the hash properly. Can someone point me to what I'm doing wrong in the createOrder subroutine? I know the module version have nothing to do with the problem.

I'm parsing a single HTML doc that is static (For an undisclosed reason, I can't use an HTML parser to do the job.) I have an expression that looks like $string =~ /\<img\ssrc\="(.*)"/; and I want to get the value of $1.
