  • How to Integrate C++ compiler in Visual Studio 2008

    - by Kasun
    Hi Can someone help me with this issue? I currently working on my project for final year of my honors degree. And we are developing a application to evaluate programming assignments of student ( for 1st year student level) I just want to know how to integrate C++ compiler using C# code to compile C++ code. In our case we are loading a student C++ code into text area, then with a click on button we want to compile the code. And if there any compilation errors it will be displayed on text area nearby. (Interface is attached herewith.) And finally it able to execute the code if there aren't any compilation errors. And results will be displayed in console. We were able to do this with a C#(C# code will be loaded to text area intead of C++ code) code using inbuilt compiler. But still not able to do for C# code. Can anyone suggest a method to do this? It is possible to integrate external compiler to VS C# code? If possible how to achieve it? Very grateful if anyone will contributing to solve this matter? This is code for Build button which we proceed with C# code compiling CodeDomProvider codeProvider = CodeDomProvider.CreateProvider("csharp"); string Output = "Out.exe"; Button ButtonObject = (Button)sender; rtbresult.Text = ""; System.CodeDom.Compiler.CompilerParameters parameters = new CompilerParameters(); //Make sure we generate an EXE, not a DLL parameters.GenerateExecutable = true; parameters.OutputAssembly = Output; CompilerResults results = codeProvider.CompileAssemblyFromSource(parameters, rtbcode.Text); if (results.Errors.Count > 0) { rtbresult.ForeColor = Color.Red; foreach (CompilerError CompErr in results.Errors) { rtbresult.Text = rtbresult.Text + "Line number " + CompErr.Line + ", Error Number: " + CompErr.ErrorNumber + ", '" + CompErr.ErrorText + ";" + Environment.NewLine + Environment.NewLine; } } else { //Successful Compile rtbresult.ForeColor = Color.Blue; rtbresult.Text = "Success!"; //If we clicked run then launch our EXE if (ButtonObject.Text == "Run") Process.Start(Output); // Run button }

  • Does this code describe an Existential Type in C#?

    - by noblethrasher
    Currently watching Bart De Smet's explanation of IQueryable and he mentioned Existential Types (which I've been curious about for some time). After reading the answers to this question I'm just wondering if this is a way to construct it in C#: public abstract class ExistentialType { private ExistentialType() { } public abstract int Foo(); public ExistentialType Create() { return new ConcreateType1(); } private class ConcreateType1 : ExistentialType { public override int Foo() { throw new NotImplementedException(); } } private class ConcreateType2 : ExistentialType { public override int Foo() { throw new NotImplementedException(); } } private class ConcreateType3 : ExistentialType { public override int Foo() { throw new NotImplementedException(); } } }

  • media.set_xx giving me grief!

    - by Firas
    New guy here. I asked a while back about a sprite recolouring program that I was having difficulty with and got some great responses. Basically, I tried to write a program that would recolour pixels of all the pictures in a given folder from one given colour to another. I believe I have it down, but, now the program is telling me that I have an invalid value specified for the red component of my colour. (ValueError: Invalid red value specified.), even though it's only being changed from 64 to 56. Any help on the matter would be appreciated! (Here's the code, in case I messed up somewhere else; It's in Python): import os import media import sys def recolour(old, new, folder): old_list = old.split(' ') new_list = new.split(' ') folder_location = os.path.join('C:\', 'Users', 'Owner', 'Spriting', folder) for filename in os.listdir (folder): current_file = media.load_picture(folder_location + '\\' + filename) for pix in current_file: if (media.get_red(pix) == int(old_list[0])) and \ (media.get_green(pix) == int(old_list[1])) and \ (media.get_blue(pix) == int(old_list[2])): media.set_red(pix, new_list[0]) media.set_green(pix, new_list[1]) media.set_blue(pix, new_list[2]) media.save(pic) if name == 'main': while 1: old = str(raw_input('Please insert the original RGB component, separated by a single space: ')) if old == 'quit': sys.exit(0) new = str(raw_input('Please insert the new RGB component, separated by a single space: ')) if new == 'quit': sys.exit(0) folder = str(raw_input('Please insert the name of the folder you wish to modify: ')) if folder == 'quit': sys.exit(0) else: recolour(old, new, folder)

  • interfacing: simplified

    - by code wombat
    i've been doing some research on interfaces and a simple layman's explanation for what it truly is. For some reason people love using overly complex explanations and jargon to explain truly simple concepts (guess it makes them feel big) and i have a gut feeling it's the same in this case. so from what i could grasp, it seems like interfaces are nothing more than a way to reserve method names, their return type if any, and the type and amount of arguments they accept. so when a class implements an interface (or interfaces) it is forced to define the body of each method from the interface(s). Am i on the nose with this one or do i need to keep digging? p.s. i know javascript doesn't have support for interfaces, but i still need to understand the concept because there are quite a few places where it's shown how to emulate to an extent.

  • Why in the following code the output is different when I compile or run it more than once

    - by Sanjeev
    class Name implements Runnable { public void run() { for (int x = 1; x <= 3; x++) { System.out.println("Run by " + Thread.currentThread().getName() + ", x is " + x); } } } public class Threadtest { public static void main(String [] args) { // Make one Runnable Name nr = new Name(); Thread one = new Thread(nr); Thread two = new Thread(nr); Thread three = new Thread(nr); one.setName("A"); two.setName("B"); three.setName("C"); one.start(); two.start(); three.start(); } } The answer is different while compiling and running more then one time I don't know why? any idea.

  • Can I change class types in a setter with an object-oriented language?

    - by user214626
    Hello, Here is the problem statement : Calling a setter on the object should result in the object to change to an object of a different class, which language can support this ? Ex. I have a class called "Man" (Parent Class), and two children namely "Toddler" and "Old Man", they are its children because they override a behaviour in Man called as walk.( i.e Toddler sometimes walks using both his hands and legs kneeled down and the Old man uses a stick to support himself). The Man class has a attribute called age, I have a setter on Man,say it is called setAge(int ageValue). I have 3 objects, 2 toddlers, 1 old-Man. (The system is up and running,i guess when we say objects it is obvious) .I will make this call, toddler.setAge(80), I expect the toddler to change to an object of type Old Man. Is this possible.Please suggest. Thanks,

  • JAXB code generation: how to remove a zero occurrence field?

    - by reef
    Hi all, I use JAXB 2.1 to generate Java classes from several XSD files, and I have a problem related to complex type restriction. On of the restrictions modifies the occurence configuration from minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded" to minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="0". Thus this field is not needed anymore in the restricted type. But actually JAXB generates the restricted class with a [0..1] cardinality instead of 0. By the way the generation is tuned with <xjc:treatRestrictionLikeNewType / so that a XSD restriction is not mapped to a Java class inheritance. Here is an example: Here is the way a field is defined in a complex type A: <element name="qualifier" type="CR" maxOccurs="unbounded" minOccurs="0"/ Here is the way the same field is restricted in another complex type B that restricts A: <element name="qualifier" type="CR" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="0"/ In the A generated class I have: @XmlElement(name = "qualifier") protected List<CR qualifiers; And in the B generated class I have: protected CR qualifiers; With my poor understanding of JAXB the absence of the XmlElement annotation tells JAXB not to marshall/unmarshall this field. Am I wrong? If I am right is there a way to tell JAXB not to generate the qualifiers field at all? This would be in my opinion a much better generation as it respects the constraints. Any idea, thougths on the topic? Thanks!!

  • If free() knows the length of my array, why can't I ask for it in my own code?

    - by Chris Cooper
    I know that it's a common convention to pass the length of dynamically allocated arrays to functions that manipulate them: void initializeAndFree(int* anArray, int length); int main(){ int arrayLength = 0; scanf("%d", &arrayLength); int* myArray = (int*)malloc(sizeof(int)*arrayLength); initializeAndFree(myArray, arrayLength); } void initializeAndFree(int* anArray, int length){ int i = 0; for (i = 0; i < length; i++) { anArray[i] = 0; } free(anArray); } but if there's no way for me to get the length of the allocated memory from a pointer, how does free() "automagically" know what to deallocate? Why can't I get in on the magic, as a C programmer? Where does free() get its free (har-har) knowledge from?

  • How do I set up for sharing code (ASP.NET) across multiple domain names?

    - by Scott J.
    I have built a website and now the customer wants to split it between three different domains. What is the best way to do this? This is what I have so far. c:/website1/ points to www.website1.com c:/website1/vd1/ points to www.website2.com c:/website1/vd2/ points to www.website3.com The webhost I'm working with has done it the following way, but now I'm getting a bunch of errors that seems like it's not seeing the App_code folder. Do I need to make a lot of changes? How does this affect the location references?

  • This code is not submitting to a form? Why

    - by Ankur
    Since I am using get I expect to see the submitted values appended to the queryString but instead all I see is the URL of the servlet being called with nothing added at the end. <form id="editClassList" name="editClassList" method="get" action="EditClassList"> <% HashMap<Integer,String> classes = new HashMap<Integer,String>(); classes = (HashMap<Integer,String>) request.getAttribute("classes"); %> <% if(classes.size()==0){ %> <label><input class="small-link" type="text" id="add-this-class" size="42" value="" /></label> <% } %> <% Set<Integer> classIds = new HashSet<Integer>(); classIds = classes.keySet(); Iterator<Integer> itr = classIds.iterator(); while(itr.hasNext()){ int nextId = (Integer)itr.next(); %> <label><input class="small-link" type="text" id="<% out.print(nextId); %>" size="42" value="<% out.print(classes.get(nextId)); %>" /> </label> <img id="add-class" src="images/add.png" width="16" height="16" /><br /> <label><input class="small-link" type="text" id="class-to-add" size="42" value="" /></label> <% } %> <label><input type="submit" id="save-class-btn" value="Save Class(es)" /></label> </form>

I have a SHA1 password and PasswordSalt in my aspnet_Membership table. but, when I run a query from the server (a Sql Query), the reader reveals that the pass has returned as its cleartext equivalent. I am wondering if my web.config configuration is causing this? <membership defaultProvider="CustomMembershipProvider" userIsOnlineTimeWindow="20" hashAlgorithmType="SHA1"> <providers> <clear/> <add name="CustomMembershipProvider" type="Custom.Utility.CustomMembershipProvider" connectionStringName="MembershipDB" enablePasswordRetrieval="false" enablePasswordReset="true" requiresUniqueEmail="false" requiresQuestionAndAnswer="false" passwordStrengthRegularExpression="" minRequiredPasswordLength="1" minRequiredNonalphanumericCharacters="0" passwordFormat="Hashed" thanks in advance...

  • Why is PLINQ slower than LINQ for this code?

    - by Rob Packwood
    First off, I am running this on a dual core 2.66Ghz processor machine. I am not sure if I have the .AsParallel() call in the correct spot. I tried it directly on the range variable too and that was still slower. I don't understand why... Here are my results: Process non-parallel 1000 took 146 milliseconds Process parallel 1000 took 156 milliseconds Process non-parallel 5000 took 5187 milliseconds Process parallel 5000 took 5300 milliseconds using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Diagnostics; using System.Linq; namespace DemoConsoleApp { internal class Program { private static void Main() { ReportOnTimedProcess( () => GetIntegerCombinations(), "non-parallel 1000"); ReportOnTimedProcess( () => GetIntegerCombinations(runAsParallel: true), "parallel 1000"); ReportOnTimedProcess( () => GetIntegerCombinations(5000), "non-parallel 5000"); ReportOnTimedProcess( () => GetIntegerCombinations(5000, true), "parallel 5000"); Console.Read(); } private static List<Tuple<int, int>> GetIntegerCombinations( int iterationCount = 1000, bool runAsParallel = false) { IEnumerable<int> range = Enumerable.Range(1, iterationCount); IEnumerable<Tuple<int, int>> integerCombinations = from x in range from y in range select new Tuple<int, int>(x, y); return runAsParallel ? integerCombinations.AsParallel().ToList() : integerCombinations.ToList(); } private static void ReportOnTimedProcess( Action process, string processName) { var stopwatch = new Stopwatch(); stopwatch.Start(); process(); stopwatch.Stop(); Console.WriteLine("Process {0} took {1} milliseconds", processName, stopwatch.ElapsedMilliseconds); } } }

  • How do I use Ruby metaprogramming to refactor this common code?

    - by James Wenton
    I inherited a project with a lot of badly-written Rake tasks that I need to clean up a bit. Because the Rakefiles are enormous and often prone to bizarre nonsensical dependencies, I'm simplifying and isolating things a bit by refactoring everything to classes. Specifically, that pattern is the following: namespace :foobar do desc "Frozz the foobar." task :frozzify do unless Rake.application.lookup('_frozzify') require 'tasks/foobar' Foobar.new.frozzify end Rake.application['_frozzify'].invoke end # Above pattern repeats many times. end # Several namespaces, each with tasks that follow this pattern. In tasks/foobar.rb, I have something that looks like this: class Foobar def frozzify() # The real work happens here. end # ... Other tasks also in the :foobar namespace. end For me, this is great, because it allows me to separate the task dependencies from each other and to move them to another location entirely, and I've been able to drastically simplify things and isolate the dependencies. The Rakefile doesn't hit a require until you actually try to run a task. Previously this was causing serious issues because you couldn't even list the tasks without it blowing up. My problem is that I'm repeating this idiom very frequently. Notice the following patterns: For every namespace :xyz_abc, there is a corresponding class in tasks/... in the file tasks/[namespace].rb, with a class name that looks like XyzAbc. For every task in a particular namespace, there is an identically named method in the associated namespace class. For example, if namespace :foo_bar has a task :apples, you would expect to see def apples() ... inside the FooBar class, which itself is in tasks/foo_bar.rb. Every task :t defines a "meta-task" _t (that is, the task name prefixed with an underscore) which is used to do the actual work. I still want to be able to specify a desc-description for the tasks I define, and that will be different for each task. And, of course, I have a small number of tasks that don't follow the above pattern at all, so I'll be specifying those manually in my Rakefile. I'm sure that this can be refactored in some way so that I don't have to keep repeating the same idiom over and over, but I lack the experience to see how it could be done. Can someone give me an assist?

  • Any WSGI middleware to make HTTP redirect on specific status code?

    - by Evgenyt
    I'm using Pylons and want to add some middleware to it so that it catches 401 status codes and makes HTTP Redirect (302) to Signin page. I know there is built-in StatusCodeRedirect in Pylons that acts in a similar fashion, but it does not produce HTTP redirect, and rather redirects internally (this is what I do not want). Is there any existing middleware to add, or any generic middleware that can be easily modified to make HTTP redirects on specific status codes?

  • Accessing "Mapi32.dll" with C#. [not solved]

    - by Code Smack
    Hello, I am using VS 2008 C# Windows Application. I have this DLL Import I am trying to use. [DllImport("Mapi32.dll", PreserveSig = true)] private static extern void WrapCompressedRTFStream( [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.Interface)] UCOMIStream lpCompressedRTFStream, uint ulflags, [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.Interface)] out UCOMIStream lpUncompressedRTFStream ); public const uint MAPI_MODIFY = 0x00000001; public const uint STORE_UNCOMPRESSED_RTF = 0x00008000; I have a compressed string that is in CompressedRFTFormat. How do I pass the string into the WrapCompressedRTFStream? I do not understand what the method is expecting. I am trying to use it on a button. RichText1.text = WrapCompressedRTFStream(_CompressedRichText.ToString(),something,somethingelse); The first error I get is "cannot convert from 'string' to 'System.Runtime.InteropServices.UCOMIStream" I hope someone who understands this posts an answer that helps!

  • Where can I find the source code for log4j's ZeroConfSocketHubAppender?

    - by urig
    I'm looking for a way to make log4net support zeroconf to publish logs to Apache Chainsaw (see here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2843238/does-log4net-support-zeroconf). Apparently log4j can already do this using a ZeroConfSocketHubAppender. Where might I be able to view the source for the java ZeroConfSocketHubAppender? I've looked both in the Apache Chainsaw and in the Log4j repositories but was unsuccessful.

  • Should every code for the Wordpress plgins be included in the functions and hooked with the Wordpres

    - by Chetan sharma
    I just started the Plugin development for the Wordpress, but finding it little difficult to understand. Looks like everything should be hooked with the wordpess to get it run and moreover are there all the global variables that i need to use. I am making a video plugin and designed some of the forms and display page, but didn't went through the templates, is it compulsory to follow the template structure or we can design our on layout. I am pretty much confused about all this. Can someone explain a little. Thanks.
