  Hi folks, I am working on one feature i.e. to apply language segmentation rules ( grammatical ) for Latin based language ( English currently ). Currently I am in phase of breaking sentences of user input. e.g.: "I am working in language translation". "I have used Google MT API for this" In above example i will break above sentence by full stop (.) This is normal cases where I am breaking sentence on dot, but there are n number of characters for breaking sentence like ( . ! ? etc ). I have following SRX rules for segmentation. Here my question are :- 1) Is there any reference ? which I can use for resolving my language segmentation rules. 2) Or Is there any forums on language segmentation ? , so that i can discuss efficiently Please let me know if anybody know about this ? • Node.js Creating and Deleting a File Recursively

  I thought it would be a cool experiment to have a for loop and create a file hello.txt and then delete it with unlink. I figured that if fs.unlink is the delete file procedure in Node, then fs.link must be the create file. However, my code will only delete, and it will not create, not even once. Even if I separate the fs.link code into a separate file, it still will not create my file hello.txt. • System.Interactive: Difference between Memoize() and MemoizeAll()?

  In System.Interactive.dll (v1.0.2521.0) from Reactive Extensions, EnumerableEx has both a Memoize method and a MemoizeAll method. The API documentation is identical for both of them: Creates an enumerable that enumerates the original enumerable only once and caches its results. However, these methods are clearly not identical. If I use Memoize, my enumerable has values the first time I enumerate it, and seems to be empty the second time. If I use MemoizeAll then I get the behavior I would expect from the description of either method - I can enumerate the result as many times as I want and get the same results each time, but the source is only enumerated once. Can anyone tell me what the intended difference between these methods is? What is the use-case for Memoize? It seems like a fairly useless method with really confusing documentation.

• How do I stop Safari from caching my Servlet response?

  I'm having trouble testing a web app with Safari. My app returns wave audio data. The problem happens when I change the application and hit it again from Safari. Safari caches the original response so no matter how many times I hit refresh it seems like I've not updated anything. I can almost get around this using force refresh with Firefox but because I'm having trouble generating the wave headers using the javax.sound API Firefox only plays the first second of audio returned. A few weeks ago I tried setting the HTTP header in my servlet to prevent caching but I don't think I was setting it correctly. (What is the header for browser cache control?) This is becoming a real pain and I'm looking for any ideas, comments, or alternative approaches. I'm getting ready to try again but I figured I'd ask here in the interim to see if someone can provide help.

• Fetch pages translated by Google? (PHP)

  Hi, I have a bunch of big txt files (game walkthroughs) that I need translating from English to French. My first instinct was to host them on a server and use a PHP script to automate the translation process by doing a file_get_contents() and some URL manipulation to get the translated text. Something like: http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=fr&sl=en&u=http://mysite.com/faq.txt I found it poses two problems: 1) there are frames 2) the frame src values are relative (ie src="/translate_c?....") so nothing loads. Is there any way to fetch pages translated via Google in PHP (without using their AJAX API as it's really not suitable here)?

• C# Using singleton instead of a global static instance

  I ran into a problem today and a friend recommended I use a global static instance or more elegantly a singleton pattern. I spent a few hours reading about singletons but a few things still escape me. Background: What Im trying to accomplish is creating an instance of an API and use this one instance in all my classes (as opposed to making a new connection, etc). There seems to be about 100 ways of creating a singleton but with some help from yoda I found some thread safe examples. ..so given the following code: public sealed class Singleton { public static Singleton Instance { get; private set; } static Singleton() { Instance = new Singleton(); } } How/Where would you instantiate the this new class and how should it be called from a separate class?   Hi Experts, What would be the best design for a Java web based application to read Check or Credit Card from POS Devices which are configured/installed at client machine? The design which I have decided is: When cashier selects payment mode as 'Check' or 'Credit Card' open a pop-up. From pop-up, I am calling an Applet through JNLP which implements JPOS API to communicate with POS devices at client machine. When cashier swipes or inserts check, Applet class read them and send the information back to the pop-up window. Pop up window call the parent window, populate all the required field and close the pop-up.

• Accessing every child class of parent class in Java

  Hi All, I have to implement a logic whereby given a child class, I need to access its parent class and all other child class of that parent class, if any. I did not find any API in Java Reflection which allows us to access all child classes of a parent class. Is there any way to do it? Ex. class B extends class A class C extends class A Now using class B, I can find the superclass by calling getSuperClass(). But is there any way to find all the child classes once I have the parent class i.e. class B and class C?? Regards, darkie

• Implementing Multitasking on an iPhone/iOS4 Web App

  I am looking to build a web app that implements background audio and fast app switching. These features work out of the box, when run as regular Safari web pages, but as soon as you add the web-app-capable tag, and try to run in full screen mode, this functionality breaks. I did some testing and even the most basic web app will reload every time when you switch back to it. And seeing as it's a web app, we can't exactly implement the multitasking API. Has anyone found a work around? This isn't a deal-breaker, as you can just avoid full screen mode, but then you also lose the ability to use your own icon in the app switch tray. Perhaps this explains a lack of full screen mode in YouTube's new web app....

  With so many languages and frameworks that exist, and with new ones appearing all the time, I don't have the time to download, install, and configure each one to evaluate it. In the past I've run across webapps that allow one to write or paste code into a window, and see the results in realtime in the browser, usually in a tutorial setting. What are your favorite sandbox sites for a given technology? Edit: @fretj provided the link to the excellent Google Code Playground (+1 upvote), but I thought that it was just for experimenting with Google's own apps (Search, Maps, Earth, Language, etc). But it turns out that it contains a few hidden gems: In addition to their apps, you can try out the many Javascript libraries that they host including jQuery, jQuery UI, MooTools, Dojo, and Prototype Scriptaculous. They're all hidden under the Libraries category in the "Pick an API" box. I overlooked the category because I thought it was for an app called Google Libraries. There's also a Javascript category for Javascript itself.

Then after spliting values each value I get contains extra space character after each character in String. Suppose value in file is like "ABC" and I got this after reading from CSV file reader as " A B C " . I used removeAll("\s+","") on each value even after it is not working. Thank You in Advance.

• MediaElement seems to disable lock screen when playing a video

  I am working on an application that plays a video using the MediaElement component. Now, I would like that if the user is idle, the lock screen appears, as configured by the user in the Settings of the device. If I don't play a video, the lock screen indeed appears. But, when a video is playing no lock screen appears. I cannot find any information on this. Currently I set the idle detection modes like this: PhoneApplicationService.Current.ApplicationIdleDetectionMode = IdleDetectionMode.Enabled; PhoneApplicationService.Current.UserIdleDetectionMode = IdleDetectionMode.Enabled; I am a bit lost now. The only solution I can think of is running a timer myself and stop the video playback after a certain time. (but there seems to be no API calls to receive the configured lock timeout.) Any suggestions are welcome, thanks.

I used to like JDOM for this purpose (in Java), but since JDOM doesn't support generics, it will be painful to work with in Scala. (Other XML libraries for Java have tended to be even more painful in Java, but I admit I don't know the landscape real well.)

• How is application virtualization implemented?

  I am trying to understand how software like App-V and sandboxie (http://www.sandboxie.com/) work. But for the life of me, I can't think of anything that could make this possible. How do they intercept API calls and trick the target software? If someone would say that it's just magic and pixie dust, I would believe them. Seriously though, are there any white papers that discuss solutions to this problem? If this is possible on the CLR level then that would be good but I'm willing to go native if I have to.

Awhile back, I discovered that to change the opacity of an image, I have to use a different API, depending on whether the page is viewed in Firefox or IE. Firefox: img.style.opacity = [value 0 to 1]; IE: img.style.filter="progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(opacity= [value 0 to 100] )"; So, currently, I use <script LANGUAGE="JScript"> for code that is meant for IE. This was suggested in the Mozilla docs. The problem: Chrome thinks my <script LANGUAGE="JScript"> code is valid, when it is not. How to make Chrome ignore the code inside <script LANGUAGE="JScript"> ? Or how to make my opacity code cross-browser?

  I have a script that parses the filenames of TV episodes (show.name.s01e02.avi for example), grabs the episode name (from the www.thetvdb.com API) and automatically renames them into something nicer (Show Name - [01x02].avi) The script works fine, that is until you try and use it on files that have Unicode show-names (something I never really thought about, since all the files I have are English, so mostly pretty-much all fall within [a-zA-Z0-9'\-]) How can I allow the regular expressions to match accented characters and the likes?   i have been programming in C/C++ for my academic courses a lot and was under the impression i had a pretty good grasp of it. but lately i had to work in a bluetooth application that had a server and client implementation in a Linux box and an embedded system. i learned bluez bluetooth API, socket/network programming and coded it. however i ran into a lot of problems with memory leaks and segmentation faults and other memory related errors along the way.as the code grew more complex i all but lost control of the pointers and threads and sockets. this got me wondering that i had a lot to learn that they didn't say in the basic C/C++ books. so i wanted to ask for the resources that are available that'll help be code better in a professional way in C/C++ .especially for the Linux/Mac environment (gcc compiler).

Unfortunately, it seems that both XmlParser and XmlSlurper for Groovy strip newline characters from the attributes of nodes when .text() is called. How can I get at the text of the attribute including the newlines? • iOS Facebook SDK: FBRequestDelegate only works on AppDelegate??

  Hi guys, I want to encapsulate all my Facebook interactions within a FacebookFacade class to keep things clean and tidy. I have an instance of the iOS SDK Facebook class within my FacebookFacade. My problem is that when I make a Graph API call within the facade, such as: [self.facebook requestWithGraphPath:@"me" andDelegate:self]; the only method of FBRequestDelegate that gets called is requestLoading: and nothing else. I have tried putting similar code in other places, like in controllers and other models, and there too not all of the FBRequestDelegate methods get called, only requestLoading:. In fact the only way I can get the other FBRequestDelegate methods to be called is to put all my Facebook logic in the AppDelegate and make my AppDelegate the FBRequestDelegate. Why is this the case? Am I missing something here? I definitely do not want to use the AppDelegate as my FBRequestDelegate as I don't want to confuse the purpose of the AppDelegate. Thanks.

• HTML Audio performance

  I'm working on HTML drum machine, and I`ve met some performance issues, rhythm start to break if BPM is higher than 110 but I'm expecting to make it work on BPM over 180. I guess that it can be related with format or codec of audio files, however it also maybe that my code is not very optimised (as I can see from JS CPU profiling it's not). So I'm expecting you guys give me some code review or some hints on optimisation. Although all similar projects I've found on internet didn't work good and maybe it's just restrictions of Audio API. By the way, it's very raw and sounds works only on Chrome under Mac OS, so any advise on audio encoding for web also would be great Project on Github pages Screenshot of Groove which breaks UPDATE Ok, I've found that I was encoding audio files incorrectly, after fixing that rhythm stopped breaking, and also it started working in Mozilla. • WPF component for 2D tree diagram

  I'm looking for a well-documented, supported WPF component that provides an API for visualisation of 2D tree diagrams. Ideally something easy to use, customisable (i.e. supports various flavours of nodes and splines) and preferably with automated layout control. Tools that look good so far are GoXam (http://www.nwoods.com/components/silverlight-wpf/goxam-overview.htm) and yFiles WPF (http://www.yworks.com/en/products_yfileswpf_about.html). Just wondering if anyone has experience with either of these, or can recommend an alternative? Thanks!
