  • click buttons error

    - by sara
    I will retrieve student information (id -number- name) from a database (MySQL) as a list view, each student have 2 buttons (delete - alert ) and radio buttons Every thing is ok, but how can I make an onClickListener, for example for the delete button because I try lots of examples, I heard that I can use (custom list or get view or direct onClickListener as in my code (but it is not working ) or Simple Cursor Adapter) I do not know what to use, I looked around for examples that can help me, but in my case but I did not find any so I hope this be reference for anyone have the same problem. this is my code which I use direct onClick with Simple Adapter public class ManageSection extends ListActivity { //ProgresogressDialog pDialog; private ProgressDialog pDialog; // Creating JSON Parser object // Creating JSON Parser object JSONParser jParser = new JSONParser(); //class boolean x =true; Button delete; ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>> studentList; //url to get all products list private static String url_all_student = "http://10.0.2.2/SmsPhp/view_student_info.php"; String cl; // JSON Node names private static final String TAG_SUCCESS = "success"; private static final String TAG_student = "student"; private static final String TAG_StudentID = "StudentID"; private static final String TAG_StudentNo = "StudentNo"; private static final String TAG_FullName = "FullName"; private static final String TAG_Avatar="Avatar"; HashMap<String, String> selected_student; // course JSONArray JSONArray student = null; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.manage_section); studentList = new ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>>(); ListView list1 = getListView(); list1.setAdapter(getListAdapter()); list1.setOnItemClickListener(new OnItemClickListener() { @Override public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> adapterView, View view, int pos, long l) { selected_student =(HashMap<String, String>) studentList.get(pos); //member of your activity. delete =(Button)view.findViewById(R.id.DeleteStudent); cl=selected_student.get(TAG_StudentID); Toast.makeText(getBaseContext(),cl,Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show(); delete.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) { Log.d("id: ",cl); Toast.makeText(getBaseContext(),cl,Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show(); } }); } }); new LoadAllstudent().execute(); } /** * Background Async Task to Load all student by making HTTP Request * */ class LoadAllstudent extends AsyncTask<String, String, String> { /** * Before starting background thread Show Progress Dialog * */ @Override protected void onPreExecute() { super.onPreExecute(); pDialog = new ProgressDialog(ManageSection.this); pDialog.setMessage("Loading student. Please wait..."); pDialog.setIndeterminate(false); } /** * getting All student from u r l * */ @Override protected String doInBackground(String... args) { // Building Parameters List<NameValuePair> params = new ArrayList<NameValuePair>(); // getting JSON string from URL JSONObject json = jParser.makeHttpRequest(url_all_student, "GET", params); // Check your log cat for JSON response Log.d("All student : ", json.toString()); try { // Checking for SUCCESS TAG int success = json.getInt(TAG_SUCCESS); if (success == 1) { // student found // Getting Array of course student = json.getJSONArray(TAG_student); // looping through All courses for (int i = 0; i < student.length(); i++)//course JSONArray { JSONObject c = student.getJSONObject(i); // read first // Storing each json item in variable String StudentID = c.getString(TAG_StudentID); String StudentNo = c.getString(TAG_StudentNo); String FullName = c.getString(TAG_FullName); // String Avatar = c.getString(TAG_Avatar); // creating new HashMap HashMap<String, String> map = new HashMap<String, String>(); // adding each child node to HashMap key => value map.put(TAG_StudentID, StudentID); map.put(TAG_StudentNo, StudentNo); map.put(TAG_FullName, FullName); // adding HashList to ArrayList studentList.add(map); } } else { x=false; } } catch (JSONException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } return null; } /** * After completing background task Dismiss the progress dialog * **/ protected void onPostExecute(String file_url) { // dismiss the dialog after getting all products pDialog.dismiss(); if (x==false) Toast.makeText(getBaseContext(),"no student" ,Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show(); ListAdapter adapter = new SimpleAdapter( ManageSection.this, studentList, R.layout.list_student, new String[] { TAG_StudentID, TAG_StudentNo,TAG_FullName}, new int[] { R.id.StudentID, R.id.StudentNo,R.id.FullName}); setListAdapter(adapter); // Updating parsed JSON data into ListView } } } So what do you think, why doesn't the delete button work? There is no error in my log cat. What is the alternative way ?.. what should I do ?

  • Multiple Broadcast Messages with Less Data or Less Broadcast Messages with More Data?

    - by niko
    Hi, I am developing an application which is communicating with the server. Tha application can perform log-in and get different parameters from server. The application consists of a RESTful client (custom class for making requests), Communication Service (the service which runs in the background) and the main activity. For now I created multiple broadcast messages and multiple broadcast receivers in the main activity so when the application performs login operation a receiver (loginBroadcastReceiver) in the main activity receives a message and when another parameter is received from the server different message is broadcasted and another receiver handles the message. This way however the application performance is poor but I am not sure whether it is due to multiple broadcast receivers. Does anyone know what is the best way to exchange data between service and main activity - is it better to create a single broadcast receiver and retrieve all parameters from message or is it better to initialize multiple broadcast receivers for multiple parameters? I would appreciate if you could provide any useful resource about the topic because I'm writing the thesis and it would be good if the solution could be explained.

  • Why no DatePicker.setDateChangedListener() method

    - by OceanBlue
    Since most widgets have a standard method of setting a listener, setOnXXXListener(), just wondering why there is no setDateChangedListener() method for DatePicker? I know init(int, int, int, OnDateChangedListener) can be used for the same purpose, but surely there must be some reason why Google decided not to use the standard method here. I went through the API docs and couldn't find the reason. Would one of the gurus here know the answer to this?

  • PendingIntents in Notifications

    - by Mariano Kamp
    I would like to show a notification that displays the progress of an ongoing operation. That works well for me. But at the same time the remote view should contain cancel button to stop the ongoing operation. The usual content intent should still do something else, i.e. not cancel the ongoing operation. It seems though that I can only have one intent. I have to specify a contentIntent that is launched when clicking on the notification: If I don't specify that I get something along those lines: E/ActivityManager( 62): Activity Manager Crash E/ActivityManager( 62): java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: contentIntent required ... For the "cancel" button I set another intent: Intent cancelSyncIntent = new Intent("com.xyz.CANCEL_SYNC"); contentView.setOnClickPendingIntent(R.id.cancel_sync, PendingIntent.getBroadcast(context, 0, cancelSyncIntent, 0)); But this never works. I always get the content intent when the button is clicked. It looks like I cannot use buttons in remote views of notifications?! I could probably display a text: "<< Press to cancel operation ", but that seems rather heavy handed.

  • programmatically unset a default application

    - by dystroy
    I made a Home application and I'd like to offer the ability to exit it and unset it as the default application. Exit is easy (just starting an intent) but the problem is I don't want my program to be launched again the next time the user click the Home button. I know that this can be done by going in the parameters / Applications / my app / erase default actions but I would like to do it from my program so that the user doesn't have to search this function. How can it be done ?

  • Last time the contact was modified

    - by Bostjan
    Hey, is there a way to find out the last time a contact was modified? I can't seem to find a variable for it. The reason I'm asking is because I'd like to do a sync of the contacts to my web server and I don't feel like checking for each contact with a HTTP request if it needs updating. So I was thinking to check the date of the last update to the date of the last sync.

  • JSONArray does not work when I am getting the JSON string from the server

    - by Taehoon A Kim
    I've looked up some answers but am not sure why mine is failing exactly... The code looks something like this HttpResponse httpResponse = httpClient.execute(httpPost); HttpEntity httpEntity = httpResponse.getEntity(); String json = EntityUtils.toString(httpEntity); //Convert to JsonArray JSONArray jsonArray = new JSONArray(json); Log.i(DEBUG_TAG, Integer.toString(jsonArray.length())); for (int i = 0; i < jsonArray.length(); i++) { JSONObject jsonObject = jsonArray.getJSONObject(i); Log.i(DEBUG_TAG, jsonObject.getString(KEY_ID)); // creating new HashMap HashMap<String, String> map = new HashMap<String, String>(); // adding each child node to HashMap key => value map.put(KEY_ID, jsonObject.getString(KEY_ID)); map.put(KEY_TITLE, jsonObject.getString(KEY_TITLE)); map.put(KEY_ARTIST, jsonObject.getString(KEY_ARTIST)); map.put(KEY_DURATION, jsonObject.getString(KEY_DURATION)); map.put(KEY_VOTECOUNT, jsonObject.getString(KEY_VOTECOUNT)); map.put(KEY_THUMB_URL, jsonObject.getString(KEY_THUMB_URL)); map.put(KEY_GENRE, jsonObject.getString(KEY_GENRE)); //Adding map to ArrayList if (Integer.parseInt(jsonObject.getString(KEY_VOTECOUNT)) == -1){ //If VoteCount is -1 then add to header headerList.add(map); }else { songsList.add(map); } } } catch (UnsupportedEncodingException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (ClientProtocolException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } When I run logcat on String json, it seems to show correct info which is kind of like this... { "userdata": [ { "id": "8", "title": "Baby One More Time", "artist": "Britney Spears", "duration": "03:24:00", "votes": "0", "thumb_url": "http://api.androidhive.info/music/images/dido.png", "genre": null }, { "id": "2", "title": "As Long As You Love Me", "artist": "Justin Bieber", "duration": "05:26:00", "votes": "0", "thumb_url": "http://api.androidhive.info/music/images/enrique.png", "genre": "Rock" } ] } and the logcat on JSONArray jsonArray = new JSONArray(json); tells me that jsonArray.length() 10-31 22:57:28.433: W/CustomizedListView(26945): error! Invalid index 0, size is 0 Please let me know Thank you,

  • Close balloon showed on MapView

    - by Pich
    Hi, I have a MapView with an ItemizedOverlay and a bunch of OverlayItem:s. When an OverlayItem is tapped on custom layout balloon is displayed on MapView. I can add a close button that hides the balloon layout. But how can I close the balloon if the user tap:s on the map outside the balloon? I have an OnTouchListener on the MapView, but how can I from this localize the open balloon layout and hide it? /P

  • How to fetch data for AutoCompleteTextView in separate thread?

    - by Laimoncijus
    For my AutoCompleteTextView I need to fetch the data from a webservice. As it can take a little time I do not want UI thread to be not responsive, so I need somehow to fetch the data in a separate thread. For example, while fetching data from SQLite DB, it is very easy done with CursorAdapter method - runQueryOnBackgroundThread. I was looking around to other adapters like ArrayAdapter, BaseAdapter, but could not find anything similar... Is there an easy way how to achieve this? I cannot simply use ArrayAdapter directly, as the suggestions list is dynamic - I always fetch the suggestions list depending on user input, so it cannot be pre-fetched and cached for further use... If someone could give some tips or examples on this topic - would be great!

When EditText is clicked again for input, no problem occurs until 'blank space' is entered, which results in suggestion box and hence loss of focus. What I mean by suggestion box is the box which pops up when entering text in EditText

  • Using Ant how can I dex a directory of jars?

    - by cbeaudin
    I have a directory full of jars (felix bundles). I want to iterate through all of these jars and create dex'd versions. My intent is to deploy each of these dex'd jars as standalone apk's since they are bundles. Feel free to straighten me out if I am approaching this from the wrong direction. This first part is just to try and create a corresponding .dex file for each jar. However when I run this I am getting a "no resources specified" error coming out of Ant. Is this the right approach, or is there a simpler approach to just input a jar and output a dex'd version of that jar? The ${file} is valid as it is spitting out the name of the file in the echo command. <target name="dexBundles" description="Run dex on all the bundles"> <taskdef resource="net/sf/antcontrib/antlib.xml" classpath="${basedir}/libs/ant-contrib.jar" /> <echo>Starting</echo> <for param="file"> <path> <fileset dir="${pre.dex.dir}"> <include name="**/*.jar" /> </fileset> </path> <sequential> <echo message="@{file}" /> <echo>Converting jar file @{file} into ${post.dex.dir}/@{file}.class...</echo> <apply executable="${dx}" failonerror="true" parallel="true" verbose="true"> <arg value="--dex" /> <arg value="--output=${post.dex.dir}/${file}.dex" /> <arg path="@{file}" /> </apply> </sequential> </for> <echo>Finished</echo> </target>

  • how to find end of scroll value for HorizontalScrollView

    - by DroidCoder
    i need to implement following scenario, here i have two horizontalScrollViews the upper scrollView is a main menu and lower scrollView is a submenu. when i scroll main menu,the menu which comes under center arrow will show its submenu in lower scrollview and from the lower scrollview, the submenu which comes under center arrow shows the screen for that sub-menu. here's my requirement: i've implemented it using HorizontalScrollViews and ViewFlipper and also it works but it will give correct result only when i scroll it slowly and not when scroll fast. i've used onTouch() method with a ACTION_UP event,so when i release finger from screen it will gives me getScrollX() position at that point but here i need getScrollX() position when scroll is finished/stop. here's my code:- @Override public boolean onTouch(View v, MotionEvent event) { switch (v.getId()) { case R.id.mHorizontalScrollViewMain: if (event.getAction() == KeyEvent.ACTION_UP) { Log.d("test", " " + hsvUpperTab.getScrollX() + " , "+ mViewFlipper.getChildCount()); getUpperTabScrolled(hsvUpperTab.getScrollX()); } break; case R.id.mHorizontalScrollViewSub: if (event.getAction() == KeyEvent.ACTION_UP) { Log.d("test1", " " + hsvLowerTab.getScrollX()); getLowerTabScrolled(hsvLowerTab.getScrollX()); } default: break; } return false; }

  • How to make a mutable ItemizedOverlay

    - by Hamy
    Hey all, I would like to make a Google map overlay with changable pins. An easy way to visualize this would be to think of a near real time overlay, where the pins are constantly changing location. However, I can't seem to think of a safe way to do this with the ItemizedOverlay. The problem seems to be the call to populate - If size() is called by some maps thread, and then my data changes, then the result when the maps call accesses getItem() can be an IndexOutOfBoundsException. Can anyone think of a better solution than overloading populate and wrapping super.populate in a synchronized block? Perhaps I could get better luck using a normal Overlay? The Itemized one seems to exist to manage the data for you, perhaps I am making a fundamental mistake by using it? Thanks for any help, my brain is hurting! Hamy

  • ListView in ArrayAdapter order get's mixed up when scrolling

    - by Dan B
    Hi, I have a ListView in a custom ArrayAdapter that displays an icon ImageView and a TextView in each row. When I make the list long enough to let you scroll through it, the order starts out right, but when I start to scroll down, some of the earlier entries start re-appearing. If I scroll back up, the old order changes. Doing this repeatedly eventually causes the entire list order to be seemingly random. So scrolling the list is either causing the child order to change, or the drawing is not refreshing correctly. What could cause something like this to happen? I need the order the items are displayed to the user to be the same order they are added to the ArrayList, or at LEAST to remain in one static order. If I need to provide more detailed information, please let me know. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
