  • Setup a https client in Java

    - by Albinoswordfish
I'm very new to HTTPS/SSL so excuse my lack of knowledge. Right now I'm trying to setup a simple Java client in which it connects to a web server through HTTPS. I've seen some example code online but can't seem to really make sense of it. Also I was wondering if there is a difference between setting it up on a Windows machine compared to another type of OS. If anybody knows a good tutorial on this or can head me towards the right direction it would be appreciated.

  • Mac OS on a Windows PC

    - by HDawg
I've done a little bit of reading on the topic, but nothing too clear has turned up. Why is it so difficult to run Mac OS on a virtual machine on a PC? Some sources say it's because of hardware architecture. Is there a clear, definitive reason?

  • Listing available COM Objects with Powershell

    - by outtacontrol
I am currently using the following script to list the available COM Objects on my machine. $path = "REGISTRY::HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\*\PROGID" foreach ($obj in dir $path) { write-host $obj.GetValue("") } I read on another website that the existence of the InProcServer32 key is evidence that the object is 64 bit compatible. So using powershell how can I determine the existence of InProcServer32 for each COM Object? If that is even the correct way of establishing whether it is 32 bit or 64 bit.

  • Make Apache server available on a LAN via custom ServerName

    - by samwatt
Hi, is it possible to set up an Apache server on a machine which is part of a LAN, then allow machines on the LAN to access the server via a custom ServerName (instead of Localhost). I want to serve a simple website in an office space using a short ServerName (no ports etc if possible), but I want to make sure this is possible (after originally being certain it was!). THanks in advance.

  • sqlite over network share for failover

    - by reinier
As a follow-up of this question: sqlite-over-a-network-share If I put the SQlite DB on a network share, but will not access it concurrently from different machines. I only have the SQLite db stored on a share so a cluster of failover computers can take over where one machine left off. Are there any inherent problems with that approach?

  • Fatal error: Call to undefined function msg_get_queue()

    - by dan.codes
I am trying to run a script on my local machine, I am on MAC OSX leopard. I have PHP 5.2.x installed and Apache2. I am trying to test this script but I keep getting this error. I googled around a little and saw something where it said it might only be available on linux/unix machines but I find that hard to believe.

  • Amazon EC2 Instance - How to find SQL Server Password

    - by Prashant
Hi I have created an Amazon EC2 Instance that provides Windows Server 2008 with SQL Sever 2008 pre-installed. Now in order to use the SQL Server for creating databases, or restoring backups of the databases that I have on my local machine, I need the "sa" password for SQL Server 2008. I have tried using the following but with no luck: sa password "blank password" "same password as the admin password for my EC2 instance" Could someone please guide me as to how to get started with using the Amazon EC2 Datacenter with respect to the "sa" password. Thanks

  • Connect to ArcGIS Server w/ ArcCatalog

    - by nw
How does one add a workstation account to the agsadmin group on the server? Does this require both machines to be on the same Windows domain? A colleague cannot connect via ArcCatalog but I don't know how to add his account to the group because the account does not exist on the server. (Oddly I can connect from my machine, but my account is also not a member of the agsadmin group.)

  • IIS7 & WIndows Authentication - authenticating to the wrong domain

    - by Steve G
I have an IIS 7 web app that is using Windows authentication. Currently, everything is set up correctly based on all that I've been able to find on the web. What's happening is when a user tries to get to that domain, they see the authentication popup, but they are being requested to authenticate to "servername.domain" instead of just the domain .... How do I get IIS 7 (or the browser for that matter) to realize that windows authentication should be to the domain, not to the machine hosting the IIS 7 instance?? Thanks, Steve G.

  • Application Freezing after some idle time

    - by Rakib Hasan
Hello, I am developing a software using C# 2.0 which uses about 200MB of memory and occasionally high CPU. The problem is, when i am leaving my machine idle for about 20-30 mins with the application running, after i come back and try to use the application, it freezes for about 2 mins, then becomes interactive. Why does this happen? Is there any way to avoid this? Thank you all. Regards, -Rakib

  • Rails app w/ 2.2.0 embedd how to use ruby 1.8 vice 1.9

    - by Barb
Hello all, I have just downloaded an app that is based on Rail 2.2.0 which is included in the app. I have just upgraded to Ruby 1.9 and I still have Ruby 1.8 on my machine. Is there a way I can tell this app to use Ruby 1.8 vice 1.9? Would it be easier to decouple the app from Rails 2.2.0 and upgrade it to Rails 2.3.6? If changing the rails would be easier, how do I do that?

  • Parallel processing in R 2.11 Windows 64-bit using SNOW not quite working

    - by Abhijit
I'm running R 2.11 64-bit on a WinXP64 machine with 8 processors. With R 2.10.1 the following code spawned 6 R processes for parallel processing: require(foreach) require(doSNOW) cl = makeCluster(6, type='SOCK') registerDoSNOW(cl) bl2 = foreach(i=icount(length(unqmrno))) %dopar% { (Some code here) } stopCluster(cl) When I run the same code in R 2.11 Win64, the 6 R processes are not spawning, and the code hangs. I'm wondering if this is a problem with the port of SNOW to 2.11-64bit, or if any additional code is required on my part. Thanks

  • FSM spellchecker

    - by Durell
    I would love to have a debugged copy of the finite state machine code below. I tried debugging but could not, all the machine has to do is to spell check the word "and",an equivalent program using case is welcomed. #include<cstdlib> #include<stdio.h> #include<string.h> #include<iostream> #include<string> using namespace std; char in_str; int n; void spell_check() { char data[256]; int i; FILE *in_file; in_file=fopen("C:\\Users\\mytorinna\\Desktop\\a.txt","r+"); while (!feof(in_file)) { for(i=0;i<256;i++) { fscanf(in_file,"%c",in_str); data[i]=in_str; } //n = strlen(in_str); //start(data); cout<<data; } } void start(char data) { // char next_char; //int i = 0; // for(i=0;i<256;i++) // if (n == 0) { if(data[i]="a") { state_A(); exit; } else { cout<<"I am comming"; } // cout<<"This is an empty string"; // exit();//do something here to terminate the program } } void state_A(int i) { if(in_str[i] == 'n') { i++; if(i<n) state_AN(i); else error(); } else error(); } void state_AN(int i) { if(in_str[i] == 'd') { if(i == n-1) cout<<" Your keyword spelling is correct"; else cout<<"Wrong keyword spelling"; } } int main() { spell_check(); system("pause"); return 0; }

  • Why is Perl commonly used for writing CGI scripts?

    - by Michael Vasquez
I plan to add a better search feature to my site, so I thought that I would write it in C and use the CGI as a means to access it. But it seems that Perl is the most popular language when it comes to CGI-based stuff. Why is that? Wouldn't it be faster programmed in C or machine code? What advantages, if any, are there to writing it in a scripting language? Thanks.

  • System.Net.Dns.GetHostAddresses("")

    - by dbasnett
Yesterday s**ked, and today ain't (sic) looking better. I have an application I have been working on and it can be slow to start when my ISP is down because of DNS. My ISP was down for 3 hours yesterday, so I didn't think much about this piece of code I had added, until I found that it is always slow to start. This code is supposed to return your IP address and my reading of the link suggests that should be immediate, but it isn't, at least on my machine. Oh, and yesterday before the internet went down, I upgraded (oymoron) to XP SP3, and have had other problems. So my questions / request: 1. Am I doing this right? 2. If you run this on your machine does it take 39 seconds to return your IP address? It does on mine. One other note, I did a packet capture and the first request did NOT go on the wire, but the second did, and was answered quickly. So the question is what happened in XP SP3 that I am missing, besides a brain. One last note. If I resolve a FQDN all is well. Public Class Form1 'http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.net.dns.gethostaddresses.aspx ' 'excerpt 'The GetHostAddresses method queries a DNS server 'for the IP addresses associated with a host name. ' 'If hostNameOrAddress is an IP address, this address 'is returned without querying the DNS server. ' 'When an empty string is passed as the host name, 'this method returns the IPv4 addresses of the local host Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, _ ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim stpw As New Stopwatch stpw.Reset() stpw.Start() 'originally Dns.GetHostEntry, but slow also Dim myIPs() As System.Net.IPAddress = System.Net.Dns.GetHostAddresses("") stpw.Stop() Debug.WriteLine("'" & stpw.Elapsed.TotalSeconds) If myIPs.Length > 0 Then Debug.WriteLine("'" & myIPs(0).ToString) 'debug '39.8990525 '192.168.1.2 stpw.Reset() stpw.Start() 'originally Dns.GetHostEntry, but slow also myIPs = System.Net.Dns.GetHostAddresses("www.vbforums.com") stpw.Stop() Debug.WriteLine("'" & stpw.Elapsed.TotalSeconds) If myIPs.Length > 0 Then Debug.WriteLine("'" & myIPs(0).ToString) 'debug '0.042212 '63.236.73.220 End Sub End Class

  • Configuring terminal server and Remote desktop

    - by user311130
I have a WinServer 2008 machine with 8 local users on it. Basically I want to connect all of them remotely and simultaneously. I read that I should use Terminal server. I want to write a c# code (or use some code from the net) that configures the number of possible remotely and simultaneously connected local users to TS to be some N. Is it even possible? Is it limited from the first place to some value? connects the N local users simultaneously to the TS.
