When I code, I always write little pieces of unit, and compile it often. This helps me to make sure that everything run correctly, but it's very time consumed. is there any programming language that can support us to do coding and running at the same time side by side ? i mean as soon as a key press leads to valid code, the effect of the edit is incorporated into the executing program.
When you first started to write program, what was the first programming language you learned?
Please don't post repeats. If someone already posted it, just vote for it.
Some time ago I had a look into Ruby and one of the things which stood out most for me was the way of using symbols.
While you to use defines or strings like in C++ or Python as an alternative, in Ruby you just write :mySymbol and the interpreter takes over the enumeration for you.
I can't see any disadvantage this feature has, so why is it missing in say, PHP and Python?
Hello,
i just asked a question few minutes ago which led me to this one :
I want to know if there is any chance to use only the back-end of wordpress ?
I mean,
link my admin interface to post news
link my visitor interface on my website to the wordpress news so the visitor can access the news
So the visitor never find out that i'm using wordpress to generate the news and handle their comments and write my news ?
Maybe it's possible but there is no point by doing so ?
Thank you
I want to be able to do logging in every catch block. Something like this.
catch (Exception exception)
{
Logger.Write(exception);
}
and then the settings in the configuration will pick up the Message and StackTrace property etc using customer listener.
I would like to use Enterprise Library Logging Application Block. I'm sure someone must have done this already.
In all examples I can find as well as the automatically generated code i Visual Studio, events are set using the following code:
button1.Click += new System.EventHandler(this.button1_Click);
But I can also write it visually cleaner by omitting the constructor wrapper:
button1.Click += this.button1_Click;
Which also compile fine.
What is the difference between these two?
And why is the first one mostly used/preferred?
I'm going to write a program that plots data from a sensor connected to the computer. The sensor value is going to be plotted as a function of the time (sensor value on the y-axis, time on the x-axis). I want to be able to add new values to the plot in real time. What would be best to do this with in C++?
Edit: And by the way, the program will be running on a Linux machine

I'm creating a sql based procedure which can
Accept a table
load the values one at a time
send the variables to a remote API
Record the response of the API
Write the response to a table for viewing later
I have successfully implemented 1,2, and 5. I am hoping there may be some way of choosing an address to contact and for SQL to listen too for a response. Please let me know if you have any suggestions!

I have a sequence of 16 elements: 1,2,3,..., 16 ( or 2*n elements). Sequence elements always goes from 1 to length(sequence) that is sequence of 4 elements is 1,2,3,4.
I want to write an algorithm which divide elements into pairs. For Example,
1-15
2-16
3-13
4-9
5-14
6-10
7-11
8-12
PS: no linq please :)
For example,
the start date = '20100530' and
the end date = '20100602'
How can I write a SQL to display the below result?
month: may, 2 days
month: June, 2 days
I am trying to write a query that grabs information from one database and joins it to information in a different database.
TableA
idA
valueA
idB
TableB
idB
valueB
The tricky part is that in TableA, idB isn't always defined, so when I do a normal join, I only get results where TableA has a idB value. What I want is to be able to grab all of the information from TableA even if it doesn't have a corresponding idB value.
I would like to add some test annotations (xml file) into an avi file as food for a later program that will process it. Is this done/doable ... ideally like a c# library to help me access and read/write the avis.

I am attempting to write a LaTeX package which leverages the minted package's \inputminted command. My \mycommand command takes two parameters, the first being a path to a file, and I want to pass the file's extension to the \inputminted command:
\newcommand\mycommand[2]{
\inputminted{#1}{...}
}
Note that the above won't work since the full path is passed to \inputminted.
Example:
\mycommand{/path/to/Test.java}{blah}
should invoke
\inputminted{java}{...}
I've been using MonoDevelop and Make to execute some build taks on a C project under linux, but I decided to abandon Make and switch to NAnt since I am more proficient in writing C# programs than Make/shell scripts, so I decided to write a custom NAnt task in C# to replace my Makefile. So, how can I invoke GCC or other shell commands from C#?

How would I write a program that reads 3 columns and each column has 100 numbers of type int one at a time in c++ ? I'm lost after this:

I am experimenting with Less Css, and I am using Visual Studio 2010.
It would be nice if the editor provided support for syntax highlighting and Intellisense for Less, for instance coloring and suggesting variables. What are my options to get that to work ? Do I need to write a plugin for it, or how would one go about adding this to VS ? Does anything exist for this already ?

How can I write a c++ program to calculate large factorials.
Example, if I want to calculate (100!) / (99!), we know the answer is 100, but if i calculate the factorials of the numerator and denominator individually, both the numbers are gigantically large.
