  • ASP.NET Hosting and routing

    - by V-Man
Is it possible to host 2 asp.net projects off one ip address? I don't have a domain name just an ip number. I'm running IIS7. The first project runs and displays fine over the web by simply typing in the ip address into the browser but I'm having trouble accessing the second. Currently both projects have virtual directories in IIS7. Help is greatly appreciated. Thx

  • Which of the following Unicode characters should be used in HTML?

    - by George Edison
I am aware that any Unicode character can be inserted into an HTML document via the following format: &#x0000; ...where 0000 is the character code of the desired character My question is: which of these characters has the most widespread availability when it comes to the client's browser being able to display the character? In other words, what are the ranges of codes that should be used in an HTML document that is going to be widely deployed?

  • What's the point of the javascript navigator.javaEnabled function?

    - by den shade
The navigator object has a javaEnabled function that indicates if the browser has javascript support. This seems to be a little odd: If JS is indeed enabled the function will return true, well obviously. If JS is disabled it will return <nothing since it is never run, javaScript is disabled. I must be missing something here, or is it really that useless this function?

  • HTTP PUT a file

    - by myforwik
Does anyone have code of a simple web browser file/script (HTML/javascript/whatever) that can upload a user selected file to a server using HTTP PUT? Everything I keep reading says that browsers do support HTTP put, but just not through any scripting?! What is the most common way to upload a file then? Using post??

  • SEO friendly javascript and CSS links?

    - by Sattvic
Is it possible to have a navigation system optimized using javascript, but for the sake of search engines, have the hyperlinks still be crawlable? Or maybe a condition statement that calls HTML code only if javascript is not enabled in the browser or when crawled by a search engine?

  • Javascript Alert Return value / Event

    - by Chris
Hey, The question is pretty simple, but i'm not the big AJAX/JS coder, so I have no clue if it's possible. Is there any way that I can check whether or not an alert() was executed on a remote site? Like if I inputted an alert("Welcome to this site"); through a get variable, is there any way to check if it that alert() was actually executed in the browser? And not necessarily through AJAX/JS.

  • Vim syntax/compile-time error highlighting

    - by Tim Nordenfur
    Is there a Vim script that periodically tries to compile/interpret the code that I'm working on, and highlights syntax errors? I'd like it to point out that something is wrong between these lines: int a = 42 cout << a << endl; Such a thing would save me loads of time. I'm primarily searching for a Perl-syntax checker, but I'd also be interested in similar plugins for other languages. Update: Another error I'd like it to point out: int a == 42; cout << a << endl;

  • Does Meta-refresh require a full url

    - by Roy Rico
Does a meta refresh tag require a full url? I have code that looks like this, which seems to work just fine, but when I load it in lynx text browser, it says this is bad HTML. It seems to suggest that the full URL is required (http://mydomain.com/blah.htm).

  • How to create a non-persistent (in memory) http cookie in C#?

    - by MatthewMartin
I want my cookie to disappear when the user closes their brower-- I've already set some promising looking properties, but my cookies pop back to live even after closing the entire browser. HttpCookie cookie = new HttpCookie("mycookie", "abc"); cookie.HttpOnly = true; //Seems to only affect script access cookie.Secure = true; //Seems to affect only https transport What property or method call am I missing to achieve an in memory cookie?

  • Can I use this Ajax script to communicate and exchange data between client and server?

    - by lala
This block of code is for client.html (it is located in this www.client.com/client.html) - client side. The I have the code below that goes something like this: ajaxRequest.open("GET", "http://www.server.com/ajax.php", true); This is how I call the file ajax.php located in the server. Unfortunately I have no luck at all. It cannot connect to the server I'm calling. BTW, the ips /test site I've been using are all no restrictions, and is accessible to all. However, I tried to simulate by putting both client.html and ajax.php in same site and it works well. So my question is does this script works only if you are in same site? or does it work also in client-server scenario? What else do I have to do in order to make this work? //client.html <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> <!-- //Browser Support Code function ajaxFunction(){ var ajaxRequest; // The variable that makes Ajax possible! try{ // Opera 8.0+, Firefox, Safari ajaxRequest = new XMLHttpRequest(); } catch (e){ // Internet Explorer Browsers try{ ajaxRequest = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP"); } catch (e) { try{ ajaxRequest = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } catch (e){ // Something went wrong alert("Your browser broke!"); return false; } } } // Create a function that will receive data sent from the server ajaxRequest.onreadystatechange = function(){ if(ajaxRequest.readyState == 4){ document.myForm.time.value = ajaxRequest.responseText; } } ajaxRequest.open("GET", "http://www.server.com/ajax.php", true); ajaxRequest.send(null); } //--> </script> <form name='myForm'> Name: <input type='text' onChange="ajaxFunction();" name='username' /> <br /> Time: <input type='text' name='time' /> </form> </body> </html> // ajax.php <?php echo date("H:i:s"); ?>

  • jQuery slideToggle - when div is toggled it pushes content out of viewable area (IE)

    - by Chris
This is an annoying ocurrance in IE when I use the jQuery slideToggle effect. Without the div being open, page looks normal. The minute I toggle the div open, it extends past the current content, overtop of the footer, and out of the viewable browser area (Even after scrolling all the way down). This feature seems to work just fine in firefox. Do I need an additional hack or CSS to make it work in IE8?

  • ASP.NET app running in PeopleSoft IFrame - problem

    - by EWizard
I have a .NET app running inside a Peoplesoft web portal IFrame. What I need to do is get the URL of the portal (parent) that called my .NET app. So far I've tried to get the URL inside my c# code using Request.Url.AbsoluteUri but this is not working. I'm assuming I will have to do this in JavaScript, or is it possible to get the browser's URL inside my c# code? Thanks in advance.

  • Getting location via a web application being run in a WebView

    - by synic
m.google.com somehow requests the current location when loaded in Android's browser. I want to do the same thing from a web page being loaded into a WebView in my own application. Is the only way to go about this with WebView.addJavascriptInterface(), or is there already a javascript interface available for webapps to use?

  • A file's web address is different from the local file structure

    - by allanb
I'm not sure how best to describe this (as you can clearly tell from the title) so I'll give you an example: I have a multisite Drupal installation. Each of the sites' sitemap.xml files are located on the server at /sites/example.com/files though with a browser (and to search engines) it is accessible at example.com/sitemap.xml I was wondering how this was achieved? Is this called Virtual Directory? Thank you
