    Hi, I am using the Apache commons logging library and log4j to generate my log files. Now I want to create a new file every time I run my program. The current count should be appended to the log file's name. For example: program_1.log program_2.log program_3.log Do you know how I could achieve this?

  • Is it safe to compress my Windows 7 %USERPROFILE%\AppData folder?

    Having just read Scott Hanselman's latest blog entry, Guide to Freeing up Disk Space under Windows 7, he suggests turning on NTFS compression which I already do for a number of less travelled folders that contain static files such as downloads or images. However I am wondering if it's wise to turn on NTFS compression for the whole of my %USERPROFILE%\AppData folder? My system drive is a 128 GB SSD residing in a Dell Precision T5400 3Ghz Quad Core Xeon workstation so I ought not to notice the extra cycles used to compress and decompress files on their way to and from the disk. However would there be any good reasons not to do this? In fact could I safely compress the whole of my %USERPROFILE% folder?

  • Automate downloads from password protected website

    I need some help with a work project I have been assigned. At the moment we manually go to the site, logon and then download 2 excel files from a supplier's website every month. The files are then loaded into SQL. We want to automate this process. Now the loading of the files into SQL I can do, but I am not sure how I can automate logging onto the website entering my user details and collecting the files. I mostly deal with SQL and have very little .NET experience, so any code samples would be most appreciated.

    i start up an existing solution, click on a javascript file, the file opens up in the IDE for a few seconds and then visual studio disappears. This is consistent and reproducible. I saw this patch for KB958502 and installed it but it didn't seem to do anything. Any suggestions on how i can proceed as this is completely stopping my development here.

Right now I have a function that finds all links to PDF files (i.e. the href ends with '.pdf') and appends the string '[pdf]' to the innerText.     I am using Visual Studio 2008 with C#. Is there a way to set the default editor for a class file containing a DataTable derived class? Whenever I double click on one of these classes to open the file VS attempts to open a component designer. Since my class isn't compatible with that editor this is a rather useless default.     I want to use file_get_contents to implement a proxy so I can do ajax cross domain requests. Querystring will be used to supply the URL to file_get_contents. Now the problem is people can muck around with the qurystring in order to read local files on the server. I dont wnat this. Can someone get me a function to sinitize the querystring in order only to accept urls and not local files: ie: ?url=http://google.com.au - OK ?url=./passwords.txt - Not OK

  • How to copy files without slowing down my app?

    I have a bunch of little files in my assets which need to be copied to the SD-card on the first start of my App. The copy code i got from here placed in an IntentService works like a charm. However, when I start to copy many litte files, the whole app gets increddible slow (I'm not really sure why by the way), which is a really bad experience for the user on first start. As I realised other apps running normal in that time, I tried to start a child process for the service, which didn't work, as I can't acess my assets from another process as far as I understood. Has anybody out there an idea how a) to copy the files without blocking my app b) to get through to my assets from a private process (process=":myOtherProcess" in Manifest) or c) solve the problem in a complete different way Edit: To make this clearer: The copying allready takes place in a seperate thread (started automaticaly by IntentService). The problem is not to separate the task of copying but that the copying in a dedicated thread somehow affects the rest of the app (e.g. blocking to many app-specific resources?) but not other apps (so it's not blocking the whole CPU or someting) Edit2: Problem solved, it turns out, there wasn't really a problem.
