  • Use applescript to write iCal data to file

    - by Guy
I am trying to get applescript to read todays ical events and write them to a file. The code is as follows: set out to "" tell application "iCal" set todaysDate to current date set time of todaysDate to 0 set tomorrowsDate to todaysDate + (1 * days) repeat with c in (every calendar) set theEvents to (every event of c whose start date = todaysDate and start date < tomorrowsDate) repeat with current_event in theEvents set out to out & summary of current_event & " " end repeat end repeat end tell set the_file to (((path to documents folder) as string) & "DesktopImage:ical.txt") try open for access the_file with write permission set eof of the_file to 0 write out to the_file close access the_file on error try close access the_file end try end try return out The ical items are getting returned correctly and the file ical.txt is created correctly in the folder Documents/DesktopImage, but the file is blank. Even if I substitute write out to the_file with write "Test string" to the_file it still comes up blank any ideas? Ty

  • Building Outline Data in Google Maps (Android)

    - by scotty.hoag
I'm working on an Android project that focuses on knowing how close you are to buildings. I wanted to know if there is some way to extract the geographic information about the outlines of buildings out of the Google Maps API. Thanks. EDIT: The functionality I'm looking for is similar to what's going on in this app. (Click the link near the top of the page that says "View Live Sample".) http://resources.esri.com/help/9.3/arcgisserver/apis/javascript/gmaps/help/google_start.htm#topics/samples/identify_features.html

  • Take data from an XML file and put it into a MySQL database

    - by Aidan
Hi Guys, I'm looking to construct a script that would go through an XML file. Would find specific tags in it, put them in a table and fill the table with specific tags within them. I'm using MySQL 5.1 so loadXML isn't an option and I think that ExtractData() method wont be much use either.. but I don't really know. What would be the best way to go about this?

  • IE6 is duplicating characters, can't figure out why. Suggestions?

    - by Paul
Problem is located on http://www.preownedweddingdresses.com/ We have a dresses slider at the bottom, select tabs different dresses shown. Works fine everywhere else, but for some reason, in IE6, the letters "ls" (from the tab "Best Deals") are duplicating inside the content and causing rendering issues. I've yet to find anything that can fix this, or anything that can be blamed for causing this either. I've changed the letters at the end of Best Deals, and the duplicated letters change as well. Open to any suggestions.

  • How do you manage web navigation info in your application?

    - by Dave
I’m building an application where different users will have different menu items available to them depending on what they’ve paid for. There will also be multiple levels to the menu hierarchy. What’s the best approach to this problem? I’m assuming I need a database table that represents the menu hierarchy, including the parent-child relationships of the nodes in the navigation as well as the sorting of the items. Then another table which I use to manage whether a user is authorized to access a particular item in that table. When I render the view, I’d reference the menus, and the access rights of the user to output the menu, and I’d also need a function to check that same authorization from each controller in case a user manually types in a URL of a controller they’re not supposed to have access to. Is this the right approach? Any suggestions for caching this to prevent the constant look-ups of this type of info? I’m open to any suggestions on how you may have approached this type of requirement.

  • Open Source - EER Modeling Tool

    - by Nick Fergis
Is there a good open source or reasonably priced EER modeling tool for MySQL besides MySQL Workbench? I find the MySQL Workbench interface to be clunky. I would like to be able to manage my production schema beginning all design changes in the EER and propogating those out to my schema for created and altered tables. Is anyone use a tool they love to manage their environments in this way? Thanks. - Nick

  • how to store data crawled from website

    - by Richard
I want to crawl a website and store the content on my computer for later analysis. However my OS file system has a limit on the number of sub directories, meaning storing the original folder structure is not going to work. Suggestions? Map the URL to some filename so can store flatly? Or just shove it in a database like sqlite to avoid file system limitations?

  • Complexity in using Binary search and Trie

    - by user121196
given a large list of alphabetically sorted words in a file,I need to write a program that, given a word x, determines if x is in the list. Preprocessing is ok since I will be calling this function many times over different inputs. priorties: 1. speed. 2. memory I already know I can use (n is number of words, m is average length of the words) 1. a trie, time is O(log(n)), space(best case) is O(log(n*m)), space(worst case) is O(n*m). 2. load the complete list into memory, then binary search, time is O(log(n)), space is O(n*m) I'm not sure about the complexity on tri, please correct me if they are wrong. Also are there other good approaches?
