  I installed Maya 2011 on Ubuntu 10.04 many times and it was always working, Recently i upgraded my Ubuntu from 10.04 to 11.04, and when i tried to install Maya 2011 on it i wasn’t able to get it working. After installing Maya 2011 on Ubuntu 11.04 i try to run Maya from the terminal and this is what i get : error while loading shared libraries: libtiff.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory. Please help. Note : Maya is a 3d software.

  While working for an employer if one modifies, rewrites, contributes or alters open source software in what cases can it ever be considered a trade secret? A trade secret, FWIW, is defined by wikipedia as: A trade secret is a formula, practice, process, design, instrument, pattern, or compilation of information which is not generally known or reasonably ascertainable, by which a business can obtain an economic advantage over competitors or customers. In some jurisdictions, such secrets are referred to as "confidential information", but should not be referred to as "classified information", due to the nature of the word in the USA.

There is nothing under Additional Drivers in Software and Updates Bluetooth does work 'Try Ubuntu mode' when I boot Ubuntu from DVD/USB. How can I get the required drivers?

It is often heard as argument that the high spec workstations increase the productivity (or the low spec machines impact productivity to the greater extent).   i have been trying to install ie8 via winetrics on the default wineprefix but im getting error after the unpack process, says my configuration its 64bits and ie8 doesnt support it. my question is, can i change the wine-prefix configuration ?   I have a new laptop with dedicated graphics card and I decided I will go with Ubuntu 14.04. All is just fine and I love it but the repos for graphics drivers from Canonical are just well... old .Is there any problem if I install my graphics drivers from AMD's official website and not from Software Updater? It's just that from there i get the latest and greatest.I read the realease notes and 14.04 is supported.

Basically I wrote some useful helper functions I want to allow to be used in any work, including closed-source software, but I want to require improvements to MY CODE to be released back to me and the general public. Can you recommend a suitable license? It should also include some of the other AGPL-permitted restrictions (attribution, indemnity), either in the license text or as permitted variations.
