  • Codeigniter: How to build an edit form that uses form validation and re-population?

    Hi There, I have a simple form in codeigniter that I wish to use for the editing or records. I am at the stage where my form is displayed and the values entered into the corresponding input boxes. This is done by simply setting the values of said boxes to whatever they need to be in the view: <input type="text" value="<?php echo $article['short_desc'];?>" name="short_desc" /> But, if I wish to use form_validation in codeigniter then I have to add thos code to my mark-up: <input value="<?php echo set_value('short_desc')?>" type="text" name="short_desc" /> So not the value can be set with the set_value function should it need to be repopulated on error from the post data. Is there a way to combine the two so that my edit form can show the values to be edited but also re-populate? Thanks

  • How come module-level validation errors only display when property-level validators are Valid?

    I'm using the module-level validator: 'PropertiesMustMatch' on my view-model, like so: [PropertiesMustMatch("Password", "PasswordConfirm")] public class HomeIndex { [Required] public string Name { get; set; } public string Password { get; set; } public string PasswordConfirm { get; set; } } I'm noticing that if I submit the form without Name filled in, the ValidationSummary() helper returns only the following error: The Name field is required. However, if I fill in Name, then ValidationSummary() will return a PropertiesMustMatch error: 'Password' and 'PasswordConfirm' do not match. So it looks like the property-level validators are being evaluated first, then the model-level validators. I would much prefer if they were all validated at once, and ValidationSummary would return: The Name field is required. 'Password' and 'PasswordConfirm' do not match. Any ideas what I can do to fix this? I'm studying the MVC 2 source-code to try to determine why this happens.

What's more, Journey.id doesn't exists yet. I didn't try django.db.models.signals.post_save but suppose it will fail because Journey.route is empty as well (when does this get filled anyway?). I see a solution in django.db.models.signals.m2m_changed but there are a lot of steps (thousands), and I want to avoid to perform an operation for every single of them.

  • Server.Execute(path).. executed page returns the calling pages' url from request.url..

    Hey, As explained in the title, I am having a problem with getting the URL of the page being executed from within a page. Basically I have a dynamic catalogue, where customers select products they are interested in. The manager of the company I am doing this for would like to be able to create an up to date offline catalogue at any given time, to send out to customers who dont have an internet connection. So far its going really well. I am using Server.Execute to get the content for each page, then putting it in static html pages and changing the dynamic links to static html links (ie changing all aspx links to htm). I am able to output all the pages for about us, contact us, home, and the entire catalogue. However, one of the stylesheets which is included in the page based on the URL (if the page is in the administration section then it is not included, otherwise it is) is not being included in the pages when it should be. I have tried outputting the URL but it just returns the URL of the calling page, not the page being called. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? Any help would be greatly appreciated.   • How to make an HTTP request in a separate thread with timeout?

    Hi, I haven't programmed in Delphi for a while and frankly didn't think I'll ever have to but... Here I am, desperately trying to find some information on the matter and it's so scarce nowadays, I can't find anything. So maybe you guys could help me out. Currently my application uses Synapse library to make HTTP calls, but it doesn't allow for setting a timeout. Usually, that's not a big problem, but now I absolutely must to have a timeout to handle any connectivity issues nicely. What I'm looking for, is a library (synchronous or not) that will allow making HTTP requests absolutely transparent for the user with no visible or hidden delays. I can't immediately kill a thread right now, and with possibility of many frequent requests to the server that is not responding, it's no good.

    I'm using Hibernate validator 4.1 to validate my entity. I have a dashboard that I can access from the action : viewDashboard. If I have a type="redirectAction".. I lose the error messages. in Struts 1, I would forward to the action viewDashboard.do without a redirect and that will works.. but How to do that in Struts2 ?

    I have a single model in CakePHP that has multiple forms on different pages of the site that I would like to validate differently even where the field name is the same - I have discovered that you can set 'on' to create|update which has been a handy discovery but I am wondering if there is any other way of explicitly declaring rules based on the form that was submitted? Just to rephrase for clarity, form a and form b contain fields of the same name, but if form a is submitted the fields in question should be validated differently than if they were submitted from form b. Possible?

I got one error it says Error Line 30, Column 57: there is no attribute "DATA-FLEXMENU" href="about.php" class="mainlink" data-flexmenu="flexmenu1">About Us</a></div> You have used the attribute named above in your document, but the document type you are using does not support that attribute for this element. This error is often caused by incorrect use of the "Strict" document type with a document that uses frames (e.g. you must use the "Transitional" document type to get the "target" attribute), or by using vendor proprietary extensions such as "marginheight" (this is usually fixed by using CSS to achieve the desired effect instead). Any ways of getting rid of this error .... Any suggestion...

  • request payload versus query string parameters

    I am absolutely in the dark when it comes to this request payload that I'm seeing in my Chrome browser. A Query string will have a variable attached like session:2g0SoEE but this payload has just one long string I'm guessing is in base64. I do understand that the request payload can have whatever, but how do I use it? Can I do a post with jquery and send this request payload? For example: $.post(url, {variable: "variable"}, function(data){}); When this posts it will send &variable=variable this will be found as query string parameter in the headers sent in chrome. In this game I'm playing I see another piece of info being sending in the header called a payload request. I'm a confused as to how this is read, used, made, how I can reduplicate this?     I notice in the default MVC template project that the Account registration fields are highlighted via a class change. I can't seem to get the same behavour out of my own code (in the same project - same CSS etc) What might be stopping this from occuring? Update I believe this relates to one of my other questions Because I was having trouble with NullReferenceExceptions I have changed the Html.ValidationMessage fields to have different names than the target fields. So really, I need to resolve this question

    In C#, How do you pass the Session[] and Request[] objects to a method? I would like to use a method to parse out Session and Request paramaters for a .aspx page to reduce the size of my Page_Load method. I am passing quite a few variables, and need to support both POSTand GET methods. For most calls, not all variables are present, so I have to test every variable multiple ways, and the code gets long...
