  • Access node.js local server though mobile via same shared wifi

    EDIT: I was stuck in this situation before but then it was Apache-related But this time I'm using NodeJS, so the old answer doesn't help. I'm running apache a NodeJS webserver (on port 80) on Windows 7. I want to access the webserver through my mobile which shares the wifi router with my pc locally. http://localhost works from PC. But I can't access http://192.168.1.4 from either my phone or even my computer. ipconfig /all on my computer lists my ip address as 192.168.1.4 Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection: IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.4(Preferred) I can ping my phone's (internal) ip address [192.168.1.5] from PC and vice-versa, I can ping my PC [192.168.1.4] from my phone. So why can't I access http://192.168.1.4 from my phone? (or PC) Firewall is off.

    I'm new to Ubuntu, and I'm trying to get my Belkin USB adapter to work. There are plenty of discussions out there already about this, but none really helped me out. Here's what I've done - Installed ndiswrapper Installed ndisgtk Installed the driver (rt2870.inf) via ndisgtk ndisgtk reported that the driver was installed and the hardware was present. The green light on the adapter is solid green, which I assume means that Ubuntu is aware of it's presence. However, when I click the little wireless symbol at the navigation bar, there's no option to choose my adapter (assuming that it's supposed to show up there...) Maybe you'll say:"Buy a better graphics card!",but I used Google Earth on this machine an year ago,when I had Windows 7 & everything worked well,so my graphics card is good enough. But I get the error "An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format." I know this error is related to OS architecture 64bit or 32 bit.   • How do I bridge my wireless to my wired connection?

    I want to bridge the wireless connection with the wired connection. The wireless is the host and the wired is the client, so to speak. Internet sharing (inet <--> wifi <--> ethernet) I tried to bridge my ethernet connection by going to network manager edit connections wired edit IPv4 settings shared to other computers Screenshots However, it seems to automatically disconnect half a second after it says "connection established"! edit 2 got the network manager logs, it seems the address is in use. I don't have time to bother with a dozen command line tricks, unless is copy & pasting a shell script... so please suggest ways that use GUIs and/or won't leave my computer in a confused state (e.g. disabling network manager, manually connecting to a WPA network, installing brutils, etc.). edit: one idea that would work, if it's possible -- is there a way to share connections via SSH and SOCKS5? I'd need to do this at a system-wide level though; I only know how to do it through the browser now. Then, I could run ifconfig eth0 192.168.4.1 on the computer sharing the inet, and ifconfig eth0 192.168.4.2 on the computer I'm trying to share with; I know this does work for host-to-host transfers. edit 3 If I run sudo killall dnsmasq, then nothing is using the 10.42.43.1 address the network manager sharing wants to use. But now it just takes longer to die, with error "NetworkManager[5935]: dnsmasq died with signal 9" [ http://pastebin.com/4FNtpugi ]. Looking at just the commands [ http://pastebin.com/1vrtQeWk ], maybe it's trying to route eth0 to itself? I'm not that familiar with networking things though.

    I have an original Eee PC 1000 running the stock Xandros. I have run into problems where the internal WiFi card does not seem to have enough sensitivity to connect to a lot of access points. Although the computer will report APs in the area, unless the signal strength is over 80% (as reported by the Wireless networks application) I cannot seem get a connection. So is there a recommended USB WiFi adapter that is known to work with the Eee PC/Xandros system or in general with a Debian based system?

  • How can I format an SD card with a more robust Linux-usable filesystem with a specific cluster size for better write performace?

    Goal: microSD card formatted... for best write performance for use only with embedded Linux for better reliability (random power failures may occur) using an 64kB cluster size I'm using an 8GB microSD card for data storage inside an embedded Linux/ARM device. The SD card is not removable. I've been using ext3 instead of the pre-installed FAT32 because it seems to better handle random power failures during writes. However, I kept noticing that my write performance is always best with the pre-installed FAT32 from Kingston. If I reformat the card with FAT32, the performance still suffers. After browsing wikipedia, I stumbled upon the following comment saying that some cards are optimized for specific cluster sizes. In my case, the Kingston comes pre-formatted for an 64kB cluster size. Risks of reformatting Reformatting an SD card with a different file system, or even with the same one, may make the card slower, or shorten its lifespan. Some cards use wear leveling, in which frequently modified blocks are mapped to different portions of memory at different times, and some wear-leveling algorithms are designed for the access patterns typical of the file allocation table on a FAT16 or FAT32 device.[60] In addition, the preformatted file system may use a cluster size that matches the erase region of the physical memory on the card; reformatting may change the cluster size and make writes less efficient.

    Looking for your recommendations for a free temperature-monitoring utility, for my PC (Core 2) and graphics card for Vista. (Question reposted with the hyperlinks now I have 10 reputation). I don't want all the geeky details, I don't overclock, I don't see the need to mess with my fan speeds or motherboard settings, I just want something fairly basic to help with basic troubleshooting of intermittent overheats on video card and/or mobo: must run on Windows Vista (yes, don't laugh). ideally displays temperature when minimized to toolbar, and/or: automatically alerts me when temperature on either core or the video card exceeds a threshold ideally measures temperature of video card and system as well, not just the cores. HDD temperature is not necessary I think. logging is nice, graphs are also nice portability to Linux and Mac is nice Apparently Everest is the best paid option, but I'm not prepared to spend $40. I found the following free options, but no head-to-head at-a-glance comparison: CoreTemp (only does cores, not video card?) Open Hardware Monitor (nice graphs, displays when minimized to toolbar, no alerts) RealTemp (has alerts, works minimized, lightweight install) HWMonitor (no alerts, CNET: "[free version is] simple but effective") from CPUID CPUCool (not free: 21-day trialware, then $18) SpeedFan from Almico (too geeky, detail overload; CNET: "most users won't be able to make head or tail of the data this utility provides") Motherboard Monitor (CNET: not recommended, requires expert knowledge of your mobo, dangerous) Intel Thermal Analysis Tool (only does cores, not video card? has logging) Useful discussions I found: hardwarecanucks.com , superuser.com 1, 2 , forums.techarena.in (Update: I downloaded Real Temp 3.60 and it meets all my needs, the customizable alert temperature is great. Open Hardware Monitor seems to be the other one that mostly meets my needs, except no alerts; but it is portable. I tried SpeedFan but the interface is very cluttered, too much unnecessary detail (needs a Basic/Advanced mode and a revamp of the interface.) The answer to my underlying issue is nVidia Geforce LE 7500 video card which runs very hot.)

    I just upgraded to Ubuntu 13.10, but since the upgrade I don't have internet access via wifi anymore. I can: See networks Connect to a network Ping myself (localhost, 192.168.0.103) I can't: Ping others (including other devices on the same wireless network, including the gateway/router) Resolve hosts Access any other external resource, whether on my own network or on the internet Using Wireshark, I noticed my computer is continuously sending ARP-requests like "Who has 192.168.0.1 [which is the gateway]? Tell 192.168.0.103". It doesn't get any replies though. When I ping another IP-address for which it knows the mac-address (from cache), it turns out a packet loss of 90% occurs, and even if a packet manages to arrive it takes around 3000ms.     I have a problem with my sound on my Dell XPS 15. First, when I had Windows 7, my sound was pretty good (I have a JBL 2.1 speaker system with Waves Maxx audio), but since I installed Ubuntu 12.04 it sounded very cheap and as if I put my laptop in a tin can.   • Atheros 922 PCI WIFI is disabled in Unity but enabled in terminal - How to get it to work?

    I am trying to get my PCI Wireless Atheros 922 card to work. It is disabled in Unity: both the network utility and the desktop (see screenshot http://www.amisdurailhalanzy.be/Screenshot%20from%202012-10-25%2013:19:54.png) I tried many different advises on many different forums. Installed 12.10 instead of 12.04, enabled all interfaces... etc. I have read about the aht9 driver... The terminal shows no hw or sw lock for the Atheros card, nevertheless, it is still disabled. Nothing worked so far, the card is still disabled. Any help is much appreciated.     I want to copy photos from my camera's memory card using Windows photo copy wizard, however I'm not connecting the camera directly (I lost the cable) rather I'm inserting the camera's SD memory card into the memory card's slot. Windows (Vista) recognizes the memory card and I can explore the photos but it doesn't automatically launch the "Device connected, what do you want to do" wizard. How do I manually launch the photo copy wizard?

    I'm trying to write an application that connects to my company's wireless network automatically on windows XP. I've found the Wireless LAN API but it requires me to have some hotfix installed on the machine, and you need to have sp2 or higher(There are machines with SP1, and I'm required to support any XP machine). I've tried to find some samples about Wireless Zero Configuration on MSDN but with no luck, only samples I've found are for WinCE, I think Microsoft stopped supporting it. In addition I couldn't find where to download the dll and header file for working with the WZC. There must be a way to do it and work on any service pack because I've found Zwlancfg by ENGL

Everyone knows that there two different chip manufacturers (popular ones, at least) - ATI and nVIDIA - so there are two different kinds of drivers to read temperature from. I'm interested in learning how to do it for each different card driver. Language in question is irrelevant - it could be C/C++, .NET platform, Java, but let's say that .NET is preferred. Anyone been doing this before?

  • Why i disconnect every few seconds? using USB wireless adapter

    i know it's for ubuntu questions..but mint and ubuntu are very similiar and i had the same problem with linux ubuntu too..so i think this is the right place for my question anyway i don't have experience with drivers and other things,after installing Linux on my machine( i did dist-upgrade btw) everything seem to be great because i didn't have to install any driver, after a while i realized that my connection stop after few minutes(actually it shows that I'm connected but it's not) so i have to reconnect and after few minutes it disconnect again.     I've just acquired a USB F5D8053ed Belkin adapter and it is unreasonably slow. Details of how I installed the firmware and device driver is described in this AU Question. I believe there is either a problem with a driver or adapter itself that is preventing from using the full network quality. At the moment I can see that the my Windows laptop is perfroming at 30 x speed better than the Ubuntu desktop PC with Belkin. What are they ways to troubleshoot pure wireless network performance on Ubuntu?

    I decided to wipe Windows 7 and made a full installation. Everything works great but for a Encore N300 wireless usb dongle that I use on my desktop. Ubuntu seems to recognize it and I can browse the available networks, but I can connect to any of them. I was told that I should download its drivers, and so I did it, but I don't know how to install them. Please, I'd like to know if my connectivity problem is really a driver issue or some other thing.

    Please help. Get error that scanner disconnected or locked "code:5,146,555" when I try to scan a document to PC or attach to an email. Can't remember this function ever working and I've had this MFD for 2-3 years now. Printer function works fine via wireless, but not scanning. Upgraded my laptop a few months ago from Windows 98 to Windows Vista and reinstalled my printer/scanner software and drivers. Any ideas?
