  Hello all, When I mix JSTL 1.0 and JSTL 1.1 taglib declarations, it causes a ParseException on some of my servers, but not all of them. Here is the block of code that's giving me trouble : <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jstl/core"%> <%@ taglib prefix="fn" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/functions"%> <c:set var="TEXTVARIABLE">|STRINGOFTEXT|</c:set> <c:set var="OTHERTEXTVARIABLE">${fn:contains(TEXTVARIABLE, '|STRINGOFTEXT|')}</c:set> And here is the exception : javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: com.caucho.jsp.JspLineParseException: /WEB-INF/jsp/online/system/modules/com.MYCOMPANY.marketing/templates/common/MY_JSP_PAGE.jsp:1: tag = 'out' / attribute = 'value': An error occurred while parsing custom action attribute "value" with value "${fn:contains(TEXTVARIABLE, '|STRINGOFTEXT|')}": org.apache.taglibs.standard.lang.jstl.parser.ParseException: EL functions are not supported. However, everything works fine if I change the URI for the core declaration to http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core So here's the really weird part : for some reason, mixing 1.0 and 1.1 taglib declarations only causes an exception on two of my servers -- my staging server and my production server. It causes no problems at all on my local machine or my development server. Why is this? What could possibly be causing this difference in behavior? The three servers are extremely similar in setup and configuration. The JSP page is being served up by OpenCMS, and I'm using the Caucho's Resin webserver. I understand that you don't know how my servers or CMS are set up, but really, what I'm looking for is ideas. Any ideas at all would help -- this problem has been driving me absolutely batty. Even if you don't know what could be causing the problem, if you have any suggestions at all for how I could approach the problem, that would be extremely helpful. I just don't understand what could cause this difference in behavior between my servers.   My web app solution consists of 3 projects: Web App (ASP.NET MVC) Business Logic Layer (Class Library) Database Layer (Entity Framework) I want to use Ninject to manage the lifetime of the DataContext generated by the Entity Framework in the Database Layer. The Business Logic layer consists of classes which reference repositories (located in the database layer) and my ASP.NET MVC app references the business logic layer's service classes to run code. Each repository creates an instance of the MyDataContext object from the Entity Framework Repository public class MyRepository { private MyDataContext db; public MyRepository { this.db = new MyDataContext(); } // methods } Business Logic Classes public class BizLogicClass { private MyRepository repos; public MyRepository { this.repos = new MyRepository(); } // do stuff with the repos } Will Ninject handle the lifetime of MyDataContext despite the lengthy dependency chain from the Web App to the Data Layer?

• detecting circular imports

  I'm working with a project that contains about 30 unique modules. It wasn't designed too well, so it's common that I create circular imports when adding some new functionality to the project. Of course, when I add the circular import, I'm unaware of it. Sometimes it's pretty obvious I've made a circular import when I get an error like AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'attribute' where I clearly defined 'attribute'. But other times, the code doesn't throw exceptions because of the way it's used. So, to my question: Is it possible to programmatically detect when and where a circular import is occuring?

  hi, I have methods which return interface and some methods which accepts interface as parameters. I am trying to use Net DataContractSerializer but I am getting following error... The formatter threw an exception while trying to deserialize the message: There was an error while trying to deserialize parameter http://tempuri.org/:id. The InnerException message was 'Error in line 1 position 120. XML 'Element' 'http://tempuri.org/:id' does not contain expected attribute 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/2003/10/Serialization/:Type'. The deserializer has no knowledge of which type to deserialize. Check that the type being serialized has the same contract as the type being deserialized.'. Please see InnerException for more details. Please help me how to resolve this error.... If I use Netdatacontract attribute on Operation Contract, can i use DataContract and Datamember attribute on serializable class??? Thanks in advance...

• Hibernate: can I override an identifier generator using XML with a custom generator?

  I want to use a custom sequence generator in my application, but the entity is located in a domain model jar that is shared with other applications. Apparently entity annotations can be overridden in orm.xml but I can't figure out the proper XML incantation to get this to work. I can modify the annotation in the entity like this this: @GenericGenerator(name = "MYGEN", strategy = "MyCustomGenerator") @GeneratedValue(generator = "MYGEN") But I need to somehow map this to orm.xml in order to override the original annotation. Looking at the orm.xml schema here it appears that I can't even specify a generation type besides "sequence" and "table".

  I want to sort objects using by one of their attributes. As of now, I am doing it in the following way USpeople.sort(key=lambda person: person.utility[chosenCar],reverse=True) This works fine, but I have read that using operator.attrgetter() might be a faster way to achieve this sort. First, is this correct? Assuming that it is correct, how do I use operator.attrgetter() to achieve this sort? I tried, keyFunc=operator.attrgetter('utility[chosenCar]') USpeople.sort(key=keyFunc,reverse=True) However, I get an error saying that there is no attribute 'utility[chosenCar]'. The problem is that the attribute by which I want to sort is in a dictionary. For example, the utility attribute is in the following form: utility={chosenCar:25000,anotherCar:24000,yetAnotherCar:24500} I want to sort by the utility of the chosenCar using operator.attrgetter().   Hi there, I'm fairly new to Objective C and Core Data and have a problem designing a case where players team up one-on-one and have multiple matches that end up with a specific result. With MySQL, I would have a Player table (player primary key, name) and a match table (player A foreign key, player B foreign key, result). Now how do I do this with Core Data? I can easily tie a player entity to a match entity using a relationship. But how do I model the inverse direction for the second player ref. in the match entity? Player Name: Attribute Match: Relationship Match Match Result: Attribute PlayerA: Relationship to Player (<- Inverse to Player.Match) PlayerB: Relationship to Player (<- Inverse to ????)   Hi, I'm trying to generate C# code classes with SvcUtil.exe instead of Xsd.exe. The latter is giving me some problems. Command line: SvcUtil.exe myschema.xsd /dconly /ser:XmlSerializer Several SvcUtil problems are described and solved here: http://blog.shutupandcode.net/?p=761 One problem I can't solve is this one: Error: Type 'DatafieldDescription' in namespace '' cannot be imported. Attributes must be optional and from namespace 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/2003/10/Seri alization/'. Either change the schema so that the types can map to data contract types or use ImportXmlType or use a different serializer. ' I changed <xs:attribute name="Order" use="required"> to <xs:attribute name="Order" use="optional"> and <xs:attribute name="Order"> But the error remains. Is it possible to use attributes, or do I have to delete them all (in that case, this excercition is over)?

• JPA entitymanager remove operation is not performant

  When I try to do an entityManager.remove(instance) the underlying JPA provider issues a separate delete operation on each of the GroupUser entity. I feel this is not right from a performance perspective, since if a Group has 1000 users there will be 1001 calls issued to delete the entire group and itr groupuser entity. • Which types use a FileNameEditor in a PropertyGrid?

  I need to change the editor for a property attached to a .net PropertyGrid, but I cannot set the Editor attribute of that property, because the property was generated by a tool, including all attributes. The desired editor is System.Windows.Forms.Design.FileNameEditor I can find many tutorials on the web to assign this editor to string properties by setting the editor attribute, but I cannot set the editor attribute in this case. However, I can advise the code generation tool to behave such that the string property which I want to be edited with the FileNameEditor becomes converted to another property with different type. In order to do so, I would need to know which type is edited by the FileNameEditor as default. I didn't find any list on the web which would tell me for a given editor which types employ this editor automatically when displayed in a PropertyGrid.

  Hello, I have an xml file and an xslt file. The xml file has a xmlns="exa:com.test" attribute. If i remove this attribute in the xml the xpath sentences in my xslt works. But if i leave it, doesnt work. Im using the following code to mix xml and xslt: XslCompiledTransform transformer = new XslCompiledTransform(); transformer.Load(HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath("xslt\\searchresults.xslt")); transformer.Transform(xmlreader, null, utf8stringwriter); What im doing wrong? • BlogEngine - Mangling of HTML Anchor Links in TinyMCE Editor

  When I create the following link: <a href="~/Contact.aspx" runat="server">Contact us</a> The editor strips out the runat attribute, breaking the link. It's also inserting "/page" into the URL which I do not want to happen. Is there some editor setting to prevent this from happening? I've checked here and couldn't find an answer. UPDATE I've added the following to tinyMCE.acsx to allow the addition of the runat attribute to anchor links: tinyMCE.init({ ... extended_valid_elements : "a[href|runat=server]" ... }); This solves the problem with the runat attribute being stripped out. My only remaining problem is the automatic insertion of "page" in the URL. Anybody?

• DropdownList autoposback after client confirmation

  I have a dropdownlist with the autopostback set to true. I want the user to confirm if they really want to change the value, which on post back fires a server side event (selectedindexchanged). I have tried adding an onchange attribute "return confirm('Please click OK to change. Otherwise click CANCEL?';") but it will not postback regardless of the confirm result and the value in the list does not revert back if cancel selected. When I remove the onchange attribute from the DropdownList tag, the page does postback. It does not when the onchange attribute is added. Do I still need to wire the event handler (I'm on C# .Net 2.0 ). Any leads will be helpful. Thanks!

Is there any way to persist a collection of an interface, which has several implementations, with Hibernate?

• Autocompletion in Eclipse for Roo project

  Hi guys, I've got a Roo project where I've made a couple of entities, and when I load up the project in Eclipse it loads up fine, but if I i.e. make an instance MyEntity entity and then write entity. I don't get any of my properties (i.e. getMyField) in the autocompletion list. If I write entity.getMyField() it compiles fine, that is taken care of by the aspects. How do I enable autocompletion for functions generated by the aspects? Cheers Nik

• Oracle global lock across process

  I would like to synchronize access to a particular insert. Hence, if multiple applications execute this "one" insert, the inserts should happen one at a time. The reason behind synchronization is that there should only be ONE instance of this entity. If multiple applications try to insert the same entity,only one should succeed and others should fail. One option considered was to create a composite unique key, that would uniquely identify the entity and rely on unique constraint. For some reasons, the dba department rejected this idea. Other option that came to my mind was to create a stored proc for the insert and if the stored proc can obtain a global lock, then multiple applications invoking the same stored proc, though in their seperate database sessions, it is expected that the stored proc can obtain a global lock and hence serialize the inserts. My question is it possible to for a stored proc in oracle version 10/11, to obtain such a lock and any pointers to documentation would be helpful.

  Hi, I did some changes to my model (but I don't want migration yet, so I just remove the application, built clean etc.) so my application works in the simulator. However, when I run it on the iPhone, I get the following error: *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: 'executeFetchRequest:error: A fetch request must have an entity.' I set the entity like this: NSEntityDescription *entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Document" inManagedObjectContext:managedObjectContext]; My managedObjectContext is not nil. But I suspect that it doesn't load the object model correctly or something similar because If I display the entities in the model, the list is empty. How can I make sure the model is loaded? Thanks,

• schema for storing different varchar fields over time?

  This app I'm working on needs to store some meta data fields about an entity. The problem is that we can already foresee that these fields are going to change a lot in the future. I'm using Hibernate (in ColdFusion) and each entity's properties are translated to one column in the entity table, but altering table columns later down the raod will be costly and error-prone right? Should I go for something like this? MetaDataField ----- metaDataFieldID (PK), name FieldValue ---------- EntityID (PK, FK), metaDataFieldID (PK, FK), value [varchar(255)] Is this common? Anything to watch out for? p.s. I also thought of using XML on SQL Server 05+. After talking to some ppl, seems like it is not a viable solution 'cause it will be too slow for doing certain query for reporting purposes.
