    I have a section of code that is producing pour performance and not working as expected. it utilizes the SVProgressHUD from the following github repository at https://github.com/samvermette/SVProgressHUD. I want to have a progress hud displayed before the synchronous request and then dismissed after the request has finished. It displays immediately after the synchronous request happens, unfortunatly this is also when it is dismissed. The behaviour displayed to the user is that the app hangs, waits for the synchronous request to finish, quickly flashes the HUB and then becomes responsive again. How can I fix this issue? I want the SVProgressHUB to be displayed during this hang time, how can I do this?

  • Reflect.Emit Dynamic Type Memory Blowup

    Using C# 3.5 I am trying to generate dynamic types at runtime using reflection emit. I used the Dynamic Query Library sample from Microsoft to create a class generator. Everything works, my problem is that 100 generated types inflate the memory usage by approximately 25MB. This is a completely unacceptable memory profile as eventually I want to support having several hundred thousand types generated in memory. Memory profiling shows that the memory is apparently being held by various System.Reflection.Emit types and methods though I can't figure out why. I haven't found others talking about this problem so I am hoping someone in this community either knows what I am doing wrong or if this is expected behavior.   • Need help manipulating WAV (RIFF) Files at a byte level

    I'm writing an an application in C# that will record audio files (*.wav) and automatically tag and name them. Wave files are RIFF files (like AVI) which can contain meta data chunks in addition to the waveform data chunks. So now I'm trying to figure out how to read and write the RIFF meta data to and from recorded wave files. I'm using NAudio for recording the files, and asked on their forums as well on SO for way to read and write RIFF tags. While I received a number of good answers, none of the solutions allowed for reading and writing RIFF chunks as easily as I would like. But more importantly I have very little experience dealing with files at a byte level, and think this could be a good opportunity to learn. So now I want to try writing my own class(es) that can read in a RIFF file and allow meta data to be read, and written from the file. I've used streams in C#, but always with the entire stream at once. So now I'm little lost that I have to consider a file byte by byte. Specifically how would I go about removing or inserting bytes to and from the middle of a file? I've tried reading a file through a FileStream into a byte array (byte[]) as shown in the code below. System.IO.FileStream waveFileStream = System.IO.File.OpenRead(@"C:\sound.wav"); byte[] waveBytes = new byte[waveFileStream.Length]; waveFileStream.Read(waveBytes, 0, waveBytes.Length); And I could see through the Visual Studio debugger that the first four byte are the RIFF header of the file. But arrays are a pain to deal with when performing actions that change their size like inserting or removing values. So I was thinking I could then to the byte[] into a List like this. List<byte> list = waveBytes.ToList<byte>(); Which would make any manipulation of the file byte by byte a whole lot easier, but I'm worried I might be missing something like a class in the System.IO name-space that would make all this even easier. Am I on the right track, or is there a better way to do this? I should also mention that I'm not hugely concerned with performance, and would prefer not to deal with pointers or unsafe code blocks like this guy.   • Some basic questions about Django, Pyjamas and Clean URLs

    I am farily new to the topic, but I am trying to combine both Django and Pyjamas. What would be the smart way to combine the two? I am not asking about communication, but rather about the logical part. Should I just put all the Pyjamas generated JS in the base of the domain, say http://www.mysite.com/something and setup Django on a subdirectory, or even subdomain, so all the JSON calls will go for http://something.mysite.com/something ? As far as I understand now in such combination theres not much point to create views in Django? Is there some solution for clean urls in Pyjamas, or that should be solved on some oy,ther level? How? Is it a standard way to pass some arguments as GET parameteres in a clean url while calling a Pyjamas generated JS?

    Would setting the $link to my database be one thing that I should use a GLOBAL scope for? In my setting of (lots of functions)...it seems as though having only one variable that is in the global scope would be wise. I am currently using the functions to transfer it back and forth so that way I do not have it in the global scope. But it is a bit of a hindrance to my script. Please advise.

  • gcc linking shared libraries with dependent libraries

    I have a complicated project with multiple executable targets and multiple shared libraries. The shared libraries currently don't have their dependent shared libraries linked in, and the result is that linker arguments to build the executables are hideously long and hard to maintain. I'd like to add in the dependencies so the Makefiles become much cleaner. I want to add the following (example): gcc -shared -o libshared.so -lshared_dependent1 -lshared_dependent2 objfile1.o objfile2.o Is there a way to test if all the symbols in libshared.so will resolve based on that line? Is there a way to print out if any of the shared_dependent libraries specified were unnecessary? Thanks in advance.

    Hi, I have some input like this: " aaaaa bbb \n cccccc\n ddddd \neeee " And I need to sanitize it like this: "aaaaa bbb cccccc ddddd neeee" Basically: Trim all blank spaces at the beginning and end of the string Strip all new lines Strip all spaces when there is more than one, but always leave ONE space between words Is there any easy way to do this or I'll have to process the string, char by char and copy the appropriate chars to a different variable?

  • What's the best way to structure this Linq-to-Events Drag & Drop code?

    I am trying to handle a drag & drop interaction, which involves mouse down, mouse move, and mouse up. If two subscriptions are made to q, they will happen twice. Second, the mouseup callback is specified before the mousemove callback. This makes it a bit hard to read. Thirdly, the reference to the ellipse seems to be in a silly place. If there's two subscriptions, that variable reference will get overwritten quite quickly. I'm sure that there should be some way we can leverage the let keyword to introduce a variable to the linq expression that will mean the correct ellipse reference is available to both the mouse move and mouse up handlers How would you write this code?
