• (WinForm/.net) Databind List Of Classes To A DataGridView. But Not Show Certain Public Properties

  I'm not even sure if i'm doing this correctly. But basically I have a list of objects that are built out of a class. From there, I am binding the list to a datagrid view that is on a Windows Form (C#) From there, it shows all the public properties of the object, in the datagrid view. However there is some properties that i still need accessible from other parts of my application, but aren't really required to be visible in the DataGridView. So is there an attribute or something similar that I can write above the property to exclude it from being shown. P.S. Im binding at runtime. So i cannot edit the columns via the designer. P.P.S. Please no answers of just making public variables (Although if that is the only way, let me know :)).

• Django store regular expression in DB which then gets evaluated on page

  Hi, I want to store a number of url patterns in my django model which a user can provide parameters to which will create a url. For example I might store these 3 urls in my db where %s is the variable parameter provided by the user: www.thisissomewebsite.com?param=%s www.anotherurl/%s/ www.lastexample.co.uk?param1=%s&fixedparam=2 As you can see from these examples the parameter can appear anywhere in the string and not in a fixed position. I have 2 models, one holds the urls and one holds the variables: class URLPatterns(models.Model): pattern = models.CharField(max_length=255) class URLVariables(models.Model): pattern = models.ForeignKey(URLPatterns) param = models.CharField(max_length=255) What would be the best way to generate these urls by replacing the %s with the variable in the database. would it just be a simple replace on the string e.g: urlvariable = URLVariable.objects.get(pk=1) pattern = url.pattern url = pattern.replace("%s", urlvariable.param) or is there a better way? • Any way to not break on certain errors in Visual Studio 2010?

  I'm working on a VS2010 project where I'm using DataAnnotations on my objects to handle validation. However, this is sort of a pain in the butt while trying to do interactive debugging because it keeps pausing VS.Net on validation errors. Obviously, I want to break on some errors, but not these particular types. Am I out of luck and I just need to turn on and off my Break on All Errors setting? Or is there some way to tell VS to just ignore these when they happen? (these are errors generated via Validator.ValidateProperty calls.) Thanks

• EntityFramework 4.0: can you return different types depending on data in the database?

  I have a Media table in the database. I also have an IMedia interface. I have two different media types that implements the same interface: 1) AudioMedia 2) PictureMedia What I wonder here, is if I can use EntityFramework (I'm using an EDMX file but I have my models in a separate library, with automatic code generation turned off), and depending on the data in the database, select what type to get (AutioMedia or PictureMedia). Since they are both implementing the same interface (could be changed to an abstract class if needed I suppose), I'm thinking that somewhere along the way you could specify what class it should be. I should perhaps point out that I have a class that inherits from ObjectContext to access the objects. Perhaps there is something that that can be done?

• Prevent initial array from sorting

  I have an array where the order of the objects is important for when I finally output the array in a document. However, I'm also sorting the array in a function to find the highest value. The problem is that I after I run the function to find the highest value, I can't get the original sort order of the array back. // html document var data = [75,300,150,500,200]; createGraph(data); // js document function createGraph(data) { var maxRange = getDataRange(data); // simpleEncode() = google encoding function for graph var dataSet = simpleEncode(data,maxRange); } function getDataRange(dataArray) { var num = dataArray.sort(sortNumber); return num[0]; } I've also tried setting data to dataA and dataB and using dataB in the getDataRange function and dataA in the simpleEncode function. Either way, data always end up being sorted from highest to lowest.

  i have a mini blog app, and a 'timeline' . there i want to be displayed all the posts from all the friends of a user, plus the posts of that user himself. For that, i have to make some kind of a 'join' between the results of two queries (queries on the same table) , so that the final result will be the combination of the user - posesor of the account, and all his friends. My query looks like this: blog = New.objects.filter(created_by = following,created_by = request.user) By that ',' i wanted to make a 'join' -i found something like this on a doc- but this method is not correct- i'm getting an error. • Iterating through a range of dates in Python

  This is working fine, but I'm looking for any feedback on how to do it better. Right now I think it's better than nested loops, but it starts to get Perl-one-linerish when you have a generator in a list comprehension. Any suggestions are welcome. day_count = (end_date - start_date).days + 1 for single_date in [d for d in (start_date + timedelta(n) for n in range(day_count)) if d <= end_date]: print strftime("%Y-%m-%d", single_date.timetuple()) Notes: I'm not actually using this to print; that's just for demo purposes. The variables start_date and end_date are datetime.date objects, because I don't need the timestamps (they're going to be used to generate a report). I checked the StackOverflow questions which were similar before posting this, but none were exactly the same. • Creating a JSONRepresentation of my NSDictionary messes up the order?

  Hi all, To pass data to my webservice, I create an NSDictionary with the objects and keys I need, and use JSONRepresentation to format it nicely so I can post it to my service. It all worked fine with the previous version where only 2 parameters were required. An array with listitems, and a UDID. No I also need to pass a version number because we need to provide more data for people with the application at this new version. Only problem is when I create my JSONRepresentation now, the order of things are all messed up. NSMutableDictionary *rowDict = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] initWithObjectsAndKeys:arrayDict,@"basketListV2",sharedData.udid,@"UDID",@"1.4",@"version",nil]; It prints out version first, then UDID and then basketListV2. Anyone know what I can do to maintain the order of my NSDict? I tried both NSDictionary and NSMutableDictionary (Probably doesn't have to do anything with it but for testing purposes I had to try it.) Thanks in advance. Lewion

• Program output to file in Java (and reading it again)

  I have a large main method in an IO class which creates objects from four different classes in my program (which all use one another to some extent). My main method takes all info in using a scanner, from the console window, and uses this info to call the constructors and methods in the other classes. As this is my first full program in Java I have been focussed on making the main method work via the console, without properly considering file input and output. I cannot see an easy way of making that work now. Ideally what I require is some way of writing everything I input to the console while running the main method to a file, in a format that can be read again and inputed back through the main method? I have refrained from posting the main method as it is 250+ lines long, but will post any relevant parts of it if required. Any help appreciated

• What does -setPropagatesDeletesAtEndOfEvent: actually do?

  Let me try it: If I don't set this, then the default value is YES. So when I delete an managed object from the context, the context propagates this immediately to the persistent store so the object is gone? And when I set this to NO, then objects are deleted from the persistent store only when calling -save? Is that really true? I mean: If it was true, then the default behavior is that once you call the context to delete an object, the object is gone. Lets assume you're not using an undo manager. So... gone. Right? No rollback possible? Or can it still be recovered with a rollback?

Boxing it seems to work, but I was hoping to see if I could find a more intelligent approach to it, since the Collection will contain other types of objects that also inherit from Base.

  Hi friends, i am building one app almost similar to contact management system...in which i have a detail view .. on pressing one of the table cells, a new view will be shown were the user can enter the new values and on pressing the save button the values will be updated in the database.   I'm coding in java and I need to create a function that returns the number of Data objects that are currently in an ArrayList. At the moment I have this: int count = 0; for (int i = 0; i < data.length; i++) { if (data[i] != null) { count ++; } } return count; But the problem is that an array list that includes null data is acceptable, and I have to count their null data towards this counter. How do I include the null data that's in the middle of this array, and not the null data that's not supposed to be counted for? For example, I have some tester code that adds (8),null,null,(23),(25) to the array, and this function should return 5 when the initial array size is 10. Thank you so much

  A portion of my program requires a "flag" retrieval, that is I am fetching a value that is either True or False, and based on this return value two things could follow. 1) The flag is true, aka "go ahead", and I retrieve data from a database. 2) The flag is false, and I want to prevent the data from being retrieved. Now, this check has to be performed before any function that would call upon the database in question. I decided to implement this check in the form of an event handler attached to GUI objects that would trigger this data inquiry. This check event handler is called first upon necessary events, and my question is: How do I stop subsequent event handlers from firing if the FIRST event handler (my flag checker) comes up FALSE?   I need to store data in memory where I map one or more key strings to an object, as follows: "green", "blue" -> object1 "red", "yellow" -> object2 I need to be able to efficiently receive a list of objects, where the strings match some boolean criteria, such as: ("red" OR "green") AND NOT "blue" I'm working in Java, so the ideal solution would be an off-the-shelf Java library. I am, however, willing to implement something from scratch if necessary. Anyone have any ideas? I'd rather avoid the overhead of an in-memory database if possible, I'm hoping for something comparable in speed to a HashMap (or at least the same order of magnitude).

• Lambda "if" statement?

  I have 2 objects, both of which I want to convert to dictionarys. I use toDictionary<(). The lambda expression for one object to get the key is (i = i.name). For the other, it's (i = i.inner.name). In the second one, i.name doesn't exist. i.inner.name ALWAYS exists if i.name doesn't. Is there a lambda expression I can use to combine these two? Basically to read as: "if i.name exists then set id to i.name, else set id to i.inner.name". Many thanks.

  I want to make my own malloc/free so I can make a precise copying allocator. Any gurus have any tips and suggestions? I have a few questions for now: Should I just malloc large chunks of memory, and then distribute from that so I don't have to call the system calls? How are copying collectors usually done? I would imagine that this part is a bit complicated to do efficiently. My naive implementation would just malloc a block the size of the remaining objects which would require 2x the space.

  I understand from the official documentation on unowned relationships that the app must use sets of Key objects on either side of the relationship. This makes perfect sense. Coming from many years of RDBM-style programming, though, I'm pretty confused about how I can model properties of that relationship itself. For example, if I have entities Category and Entry in my many-to-many relationship and would like to persist a dateAdded property, or some other data that are only relevant when both sides of the relationship are known. I suppose it would be possible to create a third class : CategoryEntry that links the two, but this seems like a kludge. What is the proposed way to model this kind of situation ?

• How do I change the background image of my app?

  Hello I have looked around and found some code which so called chooses an image from an array of image objects, but cant find an explanation. I would like to make my app have a background image and the user can select next and previous buttons to scroll through some full screen images, setting them as the background image as they scroll. I know how to do this in java, but cant seem to do it for this app. How or what code is linked to a next button to grab the next image in the array and reverse for the back button? Then that needs to be displayed obviously. I have used a layered architecture with a MVC style approach but cant seem to put it together with Objective-C. Would the buttons call the appropriate methods of the so called delegates, which the delegates handle fetching and returning the Images? Would the buttons use the returned images and actually handle the redrawing? I would really appreciate the help. Regards Jarryd
