  • Getting jQuery to recognise .change() in IE

    - by Philip Morton
I'm using jQuery to hide and show elements when a radio button group is altered/clicked. It works fine in browsers like Firefox, but in IE 6 and 7, the action only occurs when the user then clicks somewhere else on the page. To elaborate, when you load the page, everything looks fine. In Firefox, if you click a radio button, one table row is hidden and the other one is shown immediately. However, in IE 6 and 7, you click the radio button and nothing will happen until you click somewhere on the page. Only then does IE redraw the page, hiding and showing the relevant elements. Here's the jQuery I'm using: $(document).ready(function(){ $(".hiddenOnLoad").hide(); $("#viewByOrg").change(function () { $(".visibleOnLoad").show(); $(".hiddenOnLoad").hide(); }); $("#viewByProduct").change(function () { $(".visibleOnLoad").hide(); $(".hiddenOnLoad").show(); }); }); Here's the part of the XHTML that it affects. Apologies if it's not very clean, but the whole page does validate as XHTML 1.0 Strict: <tr> <td>View by:</td> <td> <p> <input type="radio" name="viewBy" id="viewByOrg" value="organisation" checked="checked"/> Organisation </p> <p> <input type="radio" name="viewBy" id="viewByProduct" value="product"/> Product </p> </td> </tr> <tr class="visibleOnLoad"> <td>Organisation:</td> <td> <select name="organisation" id="organisation" multiple="multiple" size="10"> <option value="1">Option 1</option> <option value="2">Option 2</option> </select> </td> </tr> <tr class="hiddenOnLoad"> <td>Product:</td> <td> <select name="product" id="product" multiple="multiple" size="10"> <option value="1">Option 1</option> <option value="2">Option 2</option> </select> </td> </tr> If anyone has any ideas why this is happening and how to fix it, they would be very much appreciated!

  • How to set user environment variables in Windows Server 2008 R2 as a normal user?

    - by likm
In older versions of Windows, it was just open the Control Panel, select the System applet, select the Advanced tab, and then hit the Environment variables button. As a normal user, you could edit the "User variables" but not the "System variables". In Windows Server 2008 R2, if I try to hit the Advanced System settings option in the System applet, it prompts for the Administrator password.

  • How would I add an if statement into MSQLI query?

    - by Josh
Okay so I'm just learning mysqli and I'm having a little trouble putting this code together. I've posted the mysqli query below and then below that is the code I'm trying to combine with the mysqli query and I can't seem to get it to work. Maybe what I'm doing isn't possible, but the third section below is how I had the query written for mysql and it's working fine. Answers in code are appreciated! Thanks! MYSQLI QUERY: <?php require("../config.php"); if ($stmt = $mysqli->prepare("SELECT firstname, lastname, spousefirst, phonecell, email, date, contacttype, status FROM contacts WHERE contacttype IN ('Buyer','Seller','Buyer / Seller','Investor') ORDER BY date DESC")) { $stmt->execute(); $stmt->bind_results($firstname,$lastname,$spousefirst,$phonecell,$email,$date,$contacttype,$status); while ($stmt->fetch()) { echo ''.$firstname.' '." ".' '.$lastname.' '.",".' '.$spousefirst.' '.",".' '.$phonecell.' '.",".' '.$email.' '.",".' '.$date.' '.",".' '.$contacttype.' '.",".' '.$status.'</br>'; } $stmt->close(); } $mysqli->close(); ?> WHAT I'M TRYING TO COMBINE THE ABOVE WITH: if (($_GET['date'] == 'today')) { $sql = "SELECT * FROM contacts WHERE contacttype IN ('Buyer','Seller','Buyer / Seller','Investor') AND date = DATE(NOW()) ORDER BY date DESC"; } WHAT I HAD BEFORE WITH MYSQL THAT WORKS: <?php require("../config.php"); $sql = "SELECT * FROM contacts WHERE contacttype IN ('Buyer','Seller','Buyer / Seller','Investor') AND status = 'New' ORDER BY date DESC"; if (($_GET['date'] == 'today')) { $sql = "SELECT * FROM contacts WHERE contacttype IN ('Buyer','Seller','Buyer / Seller','Investor') AND date = DATE(NOW()) ORDER BY date DESC"; } ?>

  • SQL is this equivalent to a LEFT JoIn?

    - by Jim
Is this equivalent to a LEFT JOIN? SELECT DISTINCT a.name, b.name FROM tableA a, (SELECT DISTINCT name FROM tableB) as b It seems as though there is no link between the two tables. Is there an easier / more efficient way to write this?

  • Localization of UI

    - by Nadeem
I am working on localization project and when i change the language the UI gets disturbed because some translations are large. For example say there is button with text "Select All". But when this is localized in french it reads as "Sélectionner tout". That is larger than Select All and hence the gui gets affected. Is there any way to localize the gui as well.

  • SQL 2008 CASE statement aggravation...

    - by Brad
Why does this fail: DECLARE @DATE VARCHAR(50) = 'dasf' SELECT CASE WHEN ISDATE(@DATE) = 1 THEN CONVERT(date,@DATE) ELSE @DATE END Msg 241, Level 16, State 1, Line 2 Conversion failed when converting date and/or time from character string. Why is it trying to convert dasf to date when it clearly causes ISDATE(@DATE) = 1 to evaluate to false... If I do: SELECT ISDATE(@DATE) The return value is 0.
