• Why does trying to understand delegates feel like trying to understand the nature of the universe?

  I've read two books, tons of examples. They still make next to no sense to me. I could probably write some code that uses delegates, but I have no idea why. Am I the only one with this problem, or am I just an idiot? If anyone can actually explain to me when, where, and why I would actually use a delegate, I'll love you forever.

  According to the selectors docs, you must escape [ with double backslash, etc \\[. I have a selector that is created like so (assume val attribute is something[4][2] in this example). var val = $(this).attr('val'); $select.find('option[value=' + val + ']').show(); Can I write a regex to escape the brackets for me?

• No IO exception reported for socket operation when the interface is removed

  The wifi network is connected, the application setup a socket connection and exchange data with the remote server. But when turn off the wifi, the inteface is removed, while socket operation read/write on this socket is still like normal, no any IO exception reported. The application has to do some extra checking to avoid waiting for the data forever. Is this the normal case for Android design? Is there any plan to fix it?

Judging from the MSDN API reference, all relevant functions are located in the ClusAPI.h and ResAPI.h headers, but unfortunately it seems as if they haven't been ported yet and HeaderConv seems to fail on them.   Is there anything like this: TEST DELETE FROM user WHERE somekey = 45; That can return any errors, for example that somekey doesn't exist, or some constraint violation or anything, and reporting how many rows would be affected, but not executing the query? I know you can easily turn any query in a select query that has no write or delete effect in any row, but that can lead to errors and it's not very practical if you want to test and debug many queries.
