  • MYSQL/PHP: Inserting data via HTML form, same "input name"

    - by Camen
I'm new to MySQL and as a learning project I'd like to make a recipe database. I'd like to the user to be able to enter ingredients through a simple HTML form but I'm stuck in how to label the form so that I can enter several ingredients into the database at once. I'd like to do something like this: <form method="post" action="insert.php"> Ingredient 1: <input type="text" name="ingredient"><br /> Ingredient 2: <input type="text" name="ingredient"><br /> Ingredient 3: <input type="text" name="ingredient"><br /> <input type="submit" value="Submit"> </form> When I do this, I add rows to the table but they're all empty. I know it's got something to do with me using "ingredient" (the table value where I want to add the ingredient name) several times in the form, but I just don't know how to solve it. I would absolutely love some input on how to make it work.

  • The C vs. C++ way

    - by amc
Hi, So I have to write a program that will iterate through an image and record the pixel locations corresponding to each color pixel that appears in it. For example, given http://www.socuteurl.com/fishywishykissy I need to find the coordinates of all yellow, purple, dark pink, etc pixels. In C++ I would use a hash table to do this. I would iterate through the image, check each pixel's value, look up that value and either add to a vector of pixel coordinates if it were found or add a new entry to the table if the value were not already there. The problem is that I may need to write this program in pure C instead of C++. How would I go about doing this in C? I feel like implementing a hash table would be pretty obnoxious and error-prone: should I avoid doing that? I'm pretty inexperienced with C and have a fair amount of C++ experience, if that matters. Thanks.

  • Silverlight Image Data Binding

    - by Alexander
I am new to Silverlight, and have an issue with binding. I have a class ItemsManager, that has inside its scope another class Item. class ItemsManager { ... class Item : INotifyPropertyChanged { ... private BitmapImage bitmapSource; public BitmapImage BitmapSource { get { return bitmapSource; } set { bitmapSource = value; if(PropertyChanged != null )PropertyChanged("BitmapSource") } } } } I do the following in code to test binding: { ItemsManager.Instance.AddItem("123"); //Items manager started downloading item visual //part (in my case bitmap image png) Binding b = new Binding("Source"); b.Source = ItemsManager.Instance.GetItem("123").BitmapSource; b.BindsDirectlyToSource = true; Image img = new Image(); img.SetBinding(Image.SourceProperty, b); img.Width = (double)100.0; img.Height = (double)100.0; LayoutRoot.Children.Add(img); } Once image is loaded, image doesn't appear. Though, if I set directly after image has been loaded its source, it displays well. I also noticed that PropertyChanged("BitmapSource") never fires, because PropertyChanged is null, like Image never binded to it. I am looking forward to hearing from you!

  • iPhone app store approval - coredata design change

    - by satyam
I created an app, uploaded to app store and approved by app store as well. Its ready for download. The app is based on coredata. Now I changed the design of the app to add new functionality. Changes include addition of new attributes to current entities, deletion of few entities etc. Now, if I upload the app to app store, does it approve or not? Do I have to put and Note saying that "Please uninstall old version and install new version?" Will my app be approved first of all or not.

  • Type-aware rendering (and editing) of tabular data in pyqt4

    - by pihentagy
I would like to have a very short / minimal example of how to create some tabular widget with different types of item in it. In the first round let's say I'd like to render [["Hello", 12, True], ["World", 13, False]] (Hello as string, 12 as number (right-align), True as a checkbox for eg.), but it would be nice to have Dates, Colors, and other type of info. Next round: editing (integer with spinbox, maybe sometimes a combobox is handy, but that may not work out of the box). There must be a simple solution, but I couldn't find...

  • What's the point of having to provide a cacheName for NSFetchedResultsController?

    - by dontWatchMyProfile
NSFetchedResultsController *frc = [[NSFetchedResultsController alloc] initWithFetchRequest:fetchRequest managedObjectContext:moc sectionNameKeyPath:nil cacheName:@"Root"]; Why do we have to think about a cacheName? How important is this decision? What would happen if there are two NSFetchedResultsController instances using the exact same cacheName? Does that matter? Is that some kind of singleton stuff? Thinking about Core Animation, there's also this strange animationID parameter, but setting it to the exact same thing for dozens of simultaneous animations doesn't hurt the animations at all. So I guess it's probably the same thing here...or not?

  • What does P mean in Sort(Expression<Func<T, P>> expr, ListSortDirection direction)?

    - by Grasshopper
    I am attempting to use the answer in post: How do you sort an EntitySet<T> to expose an interface so that I can sort an EntitySet with a Binding list. I have created the class below and I get the following compiler error: "The type or namespace 'P' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or assembly reference?). Can someone tell me what the P means and which namespace I need to include to get the method below to compile? I am very new to delegates and lamba expressions. Also, can someone confirm that if I create a BindingList from my EntitySet that any modifications I make to the BindingList will be made to the EntitySet? Basically, I have an EntitySet that I need to sort and make changes to. Then, I will need to persist these changes using the original Entity that the BindingList came from. public class EntitySetBindingWrapper<T> : BindingList<T> { public EntitySetBindingWrapper(BindingList<T> root) : base(root) { } public void Sort(Expression<Func<T, P>> expr, ListSortDirection direction) { if (expr == null) base.RemoveSortCore(); MemberExpression propExpr = expr as MemberExpression; if (propExpr == null) throw new ArgumentException("You must provide a property", "expr"); PropertyDescriptorCollection descriptorCol = TypeDescriptor.GetProperties(typeof(T)); IEnumerable<PropertyDescriptor> descriptors = descriptorCol.Cast<PropertyDescriptor>(); PropertyDescriptor descriptor = descriptors.First(pd => pd.Name == propExpr.Member.Name); base.ApplySortCore(descriptor, direction); } }

  • Matrix multiplication using pairs

    - by sc_ray
Hi, I am looking into alternate ways to do a Matrix Multiplication. Instead of storing my matrix as a two-dimensional array, I am using a vector such as vector<pair<pair<int, int >,int > > to store my matrix. The pair within my pair (pair) stores my indices (i,j) and the other int stores the value for the given (i,j) pair. I thought I might have some luck implementing my sparse array this way. The problem is when I try to multiply this matrix with itself. If this was a 2-d array implementation, I would have multiplied the matrix as follows: for(i=0; i<row1; i++) { for(j=0; j<col1; j++) { C[i][j] = 0; for(k=0; k<col2; k++) C[i][j] += A[i][j] * A[j][k]; } } Can somebody point out a way to achieve the same result using my vector of 'pair of pairs'? Thanks

  • Insert new row with data computed from other rows

    - by Tyler McHenry
    Suppose I have a MySQL table called MyTable, that looks like this: +----+------+-------+ | Id | Type | Value | +----+------+-------+ | 0 | A | 1 | | 0 | B | 1 | | 1 | A | 2 | | 1 | B | 3 | | 2 | A | 5 | | 2 | B | 8 | +----+------+-------+ And, for each Id, I want to insert a new row with type C whose Value is the sum of the type A and B values for the rows of the same Id. The primary key on this table is (Id, Type), so there's no question of duplication of Id,Type pairs. I can create the rows I want with this query: SELECT MyTable_A.Id AS Id, 'C' AS Type, (A_Val + B_Val) AS Value FROM (SELECT Id, Value AS A_Val FROM MyTable WHERE Type='A') AS MyTable_A JOIN (SELECT Id, Value AS B_Val FROM MyTable WHERE Type='B') AS MyTable_B ON MyTable_A.Id = MyTable_B.Id Giving: +----+------+-------+ | Id | Type | Value | +----+------+-------+ | 0 | C | 2 | | 1 | C | 5 | | 2 | C | 13 | +----+------+-------+ But the question is: How do I use this result to insert the generated type-C rows into MyTable? Is there a relatively simple way to do this with a query, or do I need to write a stored procedure? And if the latter, guidance would be helpful, as I'm not too well versed in them.

  • Identifying the parts of this typedef struct in C?

    - by Tommy
Please help me identify the parts of this typdef struct and what each part does and how it can be used: typedef struct my_struct { int a; int b; int c; } struct_int, *p_s; struct_int struct_array[5]; my_struct is the...? struct_int is the...? *p_s is the...and can be used to point to what? struct_array is the...? Also, when creating the array of structs, why do we use struct_int instead of my_struct ? Thank You!

  • Java: Is there a way to efficiently insert or remove many elements from the middle of a LinkedList?

    - by allyourcode
I was expecting to find this in Java's LinkedList, since the point of linked lists is to be able to efficiently insert (and remove) anywhere (assuming you have some kind of pointer to the location where you want to insert or remove). I'm not finding anything in the API though. Am I overlooking something? The closest thing I can find to this are the add and remove method in ListIterator. This has some limitations though. In particular, other iterators become invalid as soon as the underlying LinkedList is modified via remove, according to the API. This is born out in my tests as well; the following program results in a IllegalStateException: import java.util.*; public class RemoveFromLinkedList { public static void main(String[] args) { LinkedList<Integer> myList= new LinkedList<Integer>(); for (int i = 0; i < 10; ++i) { myList.add(i); } ListIterator<Integer> i1 = myList.listIterator(); ListIterator<Integer> i2 = myList.listIterator(); for (int i = 0; i < 3; ++i) { i1.next(); i2.next(); } System.out.println("i1.next() should be 3: " + i1.next()); i1.remove(); i1.remove(); // Exception! System.out.println("i2.next() should be 5: " + i2.next()); } } Ideally, what I'm expecting is something like this: // In my imagination only. This is the way Java actually works, afaict. // Construct two insertion/deletion points in LinkedList myLinkedList. myIterator = myLinkedList.iterator(); for (...) { myIterator.next(); } start = myIterator.clone(); for (...) { myIterator.next(); } // Later... after = myLinkedList.spliceAfter(myIterator, someOtherLinkedList); // start, myIterator, and after are still all valid; thus, I can do this: // Removes everything I just spliced in, as well as some other stuff before that. myLinkedList.remove(start, after); // Now, myIterator is invalid, but not start, nor after. C++ has something like this for its list class (template). Only iterators pointing to moved elements become invalidated, not ALL iterators.

  • how to select and group mysql data based on the follwoing table

    - by user1151680
    how can I achieve the desired result in mysql if my table looks like this. result|year 1 |2011 2 |2011 1 |2011 0 |2011 1 |2012 2 |2012 1 = Won, 2 = lost, 0 = draw Every year can have multiple values like this. Not sure how I can get the desired result like below. year won lost draw totalPlayed 2011 2 1 1 3 2012 1 1 0 2 I have tried the following query but does not get the desired result select year, league_types.league_name, sum(if(result = 1,1,0)) as won, sum(if(result = 0,1,0)) as draw, sum(if(result = 4,1,0)) as noResult, sum(if(result = 2,1,0)) as lost, sum(if(result = 3,1,0)) as tied, sum(if(result > 0 and result < 4,1,0)) as played from match_score_card inner join fixtures on match_score_card.match_id = fixtures.match_id inner join league_types on fixtures.league_id = league_types.league_id where team_id = 1 group by year order by year desc

  • Save object in CoreData

    - by John
I am using CoreData with iPhone SDK. I am making a notes app. I have a table with note objects displayed from my model. When a button is pressed I want to save the text in the textview to the object being edited. How do I do this? I've been trying several things but none seem to work. Thanks EDIT: NSManagedObjectContext *context = [fetchedResultsController managedObjectContext]; NSEntityDescription *entity = [[fetchedResultsController fetchRequest] entity]; NSManagedObject *newManagedObject = [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:[entity name] inManagedObjectContext:context]; [newManagedObject setValue:detailViewController.textView.text forKey:@"noteText"]; NSError *error; if (![context save:&error]) { /* Replace this implementation with code to handle the error appropriately. abort() causes the application to generate a crash log and terminate. You should not use this function in a shipping application, although it may be useful during development. If it is not possible to recover from the error, display an alert panel that instructs the user to quit the application by pressing the Home button. */ NSLog(@"Unresolved error %@, %@", error, [error userInfo]); abort(); } The above code saves it correctly but it saves it as a new object. I want it to be saved as the one I have selected in my tableView.

  • Fastest way to store/retrieve a dictionary - SQL, text file...?

    - by AP257
Hi all, This is a really really super dumb question, so I apologise, but I'd be grateful for some advice. I've got a text file of words and word frequencies. It's very large - theoretically we're talking millions of rows. I just want to retrieve values from the file, and do it as quickly and efficiently as possible (for a web app, in Django). My question is: what is the best way to store and retrieve the values? Should import them into SQL? Or keep the file and use grep? Or put them into a JSON dictionary...? Or some other way? Sorry for the dumb question, would be very grateful for advice!

  • c++ normalizing data sizes across systems

    - by Bocochoco
I have a struct with three variables: two unsigned ints and an unsigned char. From my understanding, a c++ char is always 1 byte regardless of what operating system it is on. The same can't be said for other datatypes. I am looking for a way to normalize POD's so that when saved into a binary file, the resulting file is readable on any operating system that the code is compiled for. I changed my struct to use a 1-byte alignment by adding #pragma as follows: #pragma pack(push, 1) struct test { int a; } #pragma pack(pop) but that doesn't necessarily mean that int a is exactly 4 bytes on every os, I don't think? Is there a way to ensure that a file saved from my code will always be readable?

  • Parsing plain data with Javascript (JQuery)

    - by Angelus
    Well , I have this text in a Javascript Var: GIMP Palette Name: Named Colors Columns: 16 # 255 250 250 snow (255 250 250) 248 248 255 ghost white (248 248 255) 245 245 245 white smoke (245 245 245) 220 220 220 gainsboro (220 220 220) 255 250 240 floral white (255 250 240) 253 245 230 old lace (253 245 230) 250 240 230 linen (250 240 230) 250 235 215 antique white (250 235 215) 255 239 213 papaya whip (255 239 213) And What I need is to cut it in lines and put them in one Array , after that i must separate each number and the rest in an string. I'm getting crazy searching functions to do that but now i can't see anyone in Javascript. modified End expected format will be first the next: array[0]='255 250 250 snow (255 250 250)' Then i wanna take it and extract each line into some vars to use them: colour[0]=255; colour[1]=250; colour[2]=250; string=snow (255 250 250); (the vars will be reused with each line)

  • Return REF CURSOR to procedure generated data

    - by ThaDon
I need to write a sproc which performs some INSERTs on a table, and compile a list of "statuses" for each row based on how well the INSERT went. Each row will be inserted within a loop, the loop iterates over a cursor that supplies some values for the INSERT statement. What I need to return is a resultset which looks like this: FIELDS_FROM_ROW_BEING_INSERTED.., STATUS VARCHAR2 The STATUS is determined by how the INSERT went. For instance, if the INSERT caused a DUP_VAL_ON_INDEX exception indicating there was a duplicate row, I'd set the STATUS to "Dupe". If all went well, I'd set it to "SUCCESS" and proceed to the next row. By the end of it all, I'd have a resultset of N rows, where N is the number of insert statements performed and each row contains some identifying info for the row being inserted, along with the "STATUS" of the insertion Since there is no table in my DB to store the values I'd like to pass back to the user, I'm wondering how I can return the info back? Temporary table? Seems in Oracle temporary tables are "global", not sure I would want a global table, are there any temporary tables that get dropped after a session is done?
