  • Location inheritInChildApplications kill debugger?

    Hi I am wondering is this normal when you add this into your web.config <location path="." inheritInChildApplications="false"> </location> The debugger should stop working. Like when I add this to my site and try to run in debug mode it won't activate any of my debug points nor will it lock up Visual studios 2008. I can have it running and still make edits to my C# code. I take the line away and I get the debug mode back and it locks up VS2008.

  • Manipulating data in sql / asp.net / c# - how?

    Not sure how to word the question... Basically, so far all my SQL stuff has been stored procedures and dumped into a gridview. The odd case where I had to perform an action based on a value (such as highlighting a row green if a certain value was true) were done as the gridview was rendering in one of the overrides. Now however I have to do something far more complicated - pull three sets of data down, run a series of checks on all three and some date related checks and stuff, then populate a gridview with some of the items. In logic terms, I want to run three queries, and store the lists of results (presumably in Lists?) then run some logic, then populate the gridview. Specifically what I don't know how to do is: Best way of pulling the data, and putting it into a List or other datastructure that lets me easily run through it, and retrieve data based on column (myList.age, or more likely, myList["Age"]). One I have compared the data, I assume I create a new list that will be put into the gridview... how do I put the contents of a list INTO a gridview? How would I add other stuff such as buttons or checkboxes at the same time? Any nudge in the right direction would be appreciated! Particularly doing cool stuff with lists and sql (if there is anything cool you can do with them)

Is it possible to use a shared view for this while at the same time preserving the Strong Typing? (e.g. by specifying the generic type in the controller?)

I have the rule: <rewrite url="~/blog/blog.aspx" to="~/blog.aspx" /> My questions are: Am I meant to make all my links in my site point to blog/blog.aspx now instead of just blog.aspx where it is physically located How is best to cope with the paths of the stylesheets etc now being messed up because they are one dir up?

  • asp.net multiple textbox validation

    Hi, I currently have 3 textbox controls on my page. I also have a required valdiator of each of the textboxes. However I only want the validator for a textbox to fire if there is text in either of the other 2 textboxes. If all 3 textboxes are empty then no validators should fire. Is there any way I can do this in javascript/jquery as I want the user to get the best experience possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    hey all , background - I'm using an activx that allow me to access some information on the client side, By using the activex events and callback i'm updating server side from client. i wrote a user control that register all activex's events so when one of the events occuer there is a callback to the server that handle this event. I need to write some other user controls based on this control so on every callback this user controls will be render on the client side. My question is - what is the best way to make a shared infrastructure that handle this events and render the right content base on user controls? is there any other ways i can use ? thanks!

    Hi, In VS2003, I am trying to find out the particular page where the request is coming from. I want to identify the exact aspx page name. Is there a way to only get the page name or some how strip the page name? Currently I am using the following instruction... string referencepage = HttpContext.Current.Request.UrlReferrer.ToString(); and I get the following result... "http://localhost/MyPage123.aspx?myval1=3333&myval2=4444; I want to get the result back with out any query string parameters and be able to identify the page MyPage123.aspx accurately...     I see that this question has been asked a lot, however I haven't found anything yet that solves the problem I'm having. Obviously i'm using the Entity Framework to perform an update to a record. Once the updates are complete, however, whenever I try to save I get the following error message: An object with the same key already exists in the objectstatemanager At first I was passing in a collection object from the view that contained a copy of the the ZipCodeTerritory model object zipToUpdate. I changed the code by pulling this object out and just sending in the relevant fields instead. However, I'm still getting the same error. What's also weird is the first time I run this code, it works fine. Any attempt after that I get the error.
