  I have a ruby/rails/hobo system that someone wrote a couple years ago, that I need to port to the latest version of ruby/rails/hobo. It seems that ruby doesn't care about backward compatibility, so code that used to work in the old app doesn't work anymore: In the observation.rb model file, the old app has this: belongs_to :survey has_one :site, :through => :survey def create_permitted? acting_user == self.survey.contact or acting_user.administrator? end survey.rb model file has this: belongs_to :contact, :class_name => 'User', :creator => true Unfortunately the code in observation.rb doesn't work under the new ruby/rails/hobo, and it gives me the error: NoMethodError in Observations#index Showing controller: observations; dryml-tag: index-page where line #1 raised: undefined method `contact' for nil:NilClass Extracted source (around line #1): 0 Rails.root: /home/simon/ruby/frogwatch2 Application Trace | Framework Trace | Full Trace app/models/observation.rb:48:in `create_permitted?' • Error 1009 after gotoAndStop - stage instance never gets added

  I've been through the forums for hours (days?) searching on 1009 errors, but I remain stumped on this. It seems very mysterious and I would LOVE some help if you have any ideas. I have a single .swf that is 7 frames long - each frame represents a different "page" and you can switch pages through a menu widget in the top right corner. The menu widget calls gotoAndPlay( "frame" ). Everything works fine except when I switch from one particular frame to another. Then, during initialization of the new frame (setting some visible properties on various items, in actionscript), I get the dreaded 1009 error on a specific stage instance, a dynamic text instance i_word. Here's what I've tried so far: made sure the actionscript for the new frame starts with a stop() statement before starting initialization - no dice tried changing i_word into a movie_clip instead of dynamic text, made sure it was exported for actionscript - no difference. (I also have 2 other dynamic text instances on the same page that don't seem to cause a problem) added an ENTER_FRAME listener when the new frame is loaded, in case the problem was a timing issue. Put in a big if statement checking if i_word and other instances are not null before proceeding to initialization. It never enters the if, because i_word NEVER gets added. I added trace statements for all instances that are null, and it is the only one. If I remove all references to i_word in my actionscript, everything else is not null, and things go forward. The text for i_word even shows up on the screen in that case. tried renaming i_word - no dice tried deleting the layer i_word was on and adding a new layer - no dice It feels like there is a serious Gremlin in my flash file somewhere. Or maybe I'm missing something obvious. Let me know if you have any ideas...I'd be so grateful. Thank you! Elambda

• Receiving 404 error when trying to get to MVC application in local IIS

  I have an existing web site setup on my local IIS built with web forms setup in this format: -MainSite -Application1 -Application2 -Application3 There are separate applications in each location, so MainSite has an application, and Application1 has another application and so on. This way development on different applications in the same site can be broken out. I want to add a new Application that is MVC instead of web forms. I created a new MVC project which runs in Cassini just fine, but when I create a new IIS application for it and point it to the MVC project I am unable to navigate to it in the browser and get a 404 error. I am expecting to be able to navigate to http://MainSite/NewMVCApplication/. I want the root of NewMVCApplication to point to my Contacts Controller.   I'm trying to write a shopping basket into a order + orderline in a sql database from C# asp.net. the orderline will contain a ordernumber, total price, productid, quantity etc. for every item in the basket. The order itself will contain the ordernumber as primary key and will be linked to the different lines through it. Everything worked fine yesterday, but now as i tried to use a SELECT command in the insert into statement to get things more dynamic i'm getting the above described syntax error. Does anybody know what's wrong with this statement: INSERT INTO [order] (klant_id,totaalprijs,btw,subtotaal,verzendkosten) SELECT klant.id , SUM(orderregel.totaalprijs) , SUM(orderregel.btw) , SUM(orderregel.totaalprijs) - SUM(orderregel.btw) , 7.50 FROM orderregel INNER JOIN klant ON [order].klant_id = klant.id WHERE klant.username = 'jerry' GROUP BY id; the ordernumber in the "order" table is on autonumber, in the asp codebehind there is a for each which handles the lines being written for every product, there's an index set on 0 outside of this loop and is heightened with 1 every end of it. The executenonquery of the order is only executed once at the beginning of the first loop and the lines are added after with MAX(ordernumber) as ordernumber.   I've just created a package (RTIO) and a package repository (Q:/Integrated Planning/R), which is a company network drive. • Error emailing outgoing sms

  Is there anyway to listen for an outbound sms without having to import javax.wireless.messaging? I'm trying to write an app that listens for an sms sent from the device then emails the message of the sms, but I get the error: reference to Message is ambiguous, both class javax.wireless.messaging.Message in javax.wireless.messaging and class net.rim.blackberry.api.mail.Message in net.rim.blackberry.api.mail match I need to import net.rim.blackberry.api.mail.Message in order to sent an email. Is there a way to get around this as it seems that the two packages are clashing. • Error "initializer element is not constant" when trying to initialize variable with const

  I get an error on line 6 (initialize my_foo to foo_init) of the following program and I'm not sure I understand why. typedef struct foo_t { int a, b, c; } foo_t; const foo_t foo_init = { 1, 2, 3 }; foo_t my_foo = foo_init; int main() { return 0; } Keep in mind this is a simplified version of a larger, multi-file project I'm working on. The goal was to have a single constant in the object file, that multiple files could use to initialize a state structure. Since it's an embedded target with limited resources and the struct isn't that small, I don't want multiple copies of the source. I'd prefer not to use: #define foo_init { 1, 2, 3 } I'm also trying to write portable code, so I need a solution that's valid C89 or C99. Does this have to do with the ORGs in an object file? That initialized variables go into one ORG and are initialized by copying the contents of a second ORG? Maybe I'll just need to change my tactic, and have an initializing function do all of the copies at startup. Unless there are other ideas out there?

• Win32_Product InstallLocation (error)

• Notification 7 Days Before Payment PHP No Error Message

  So I have PHP script running on cron daily. It is suppose to check the date and send an email if it is 7 days before any payments as a reminder. I haven't used PHP in a long time so sorry if the way I did it was ridiculous or something. Thanks a lot. • jquery small error

  Hi, i am very new at jquery and code, here i am trying to get the setTimeout event to be inside the .mouseout event but i'm not sure how to do that as i keep getting syntax error in my editor. Moving the mouse to the .slidedown div should keep it open until the mouse is removed. But will this code collapse the .slidedown div if the user doesn't mouse over .slidedown after .trigger but instead moves the mouse directly from .trigger to another area of page? I.e i need some kind of 'setTimeout' that is trigged only if the user doesn't move mouse over .slidedown after hovering over .trigger. Hope i make sense. Thanks for your help!

• How to get an error message out of my webpage

  I have a web page that when I run it on a remote computer I get the message saying that remote errors cannot be viewed When I go to view it on my web server machine, I get a message saying: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage • Most likely causes: • You are not connected to the Internet. • The website is encountering problems. • There might be a typing error in the address. What you can try: Check your Internet connection. Try visiting another website to make sure you are connected. Retype the address. Go back to the previous page. I can get to google fine, so it is not the internet connection.... But this message gives me nothing to work on. How can I get more info as to why my page is not working? I tried going to IIS Mananger and right clicking on the site and selecting browse. But my site is an HTTPS site so that does not work. Any ideas would be great.

• Error with `Thread.Sleep` during automatic testing on TeamCity 5

  Hello, I'm having some problems executing the tests of the application I'm developing. All the tests execute normally with ReSharper and in NCover. However, the execution of one of these tests in TeamCity is generating an error. This test initializes two objects, the object under test and a simulator of a real object. Both objects will communicate throug a serial link in a representation of the real scenario. ObjectSimulator r_simulator = new ObjectSimulator(...); ObjectDriver r_driver = new ObjectDriver(...); Assert.IsTrue(r_driver.Connect() == ErrorCode.Success); The simulator just do the following in the constructor public class ObjectSimulator { ... public ObjectSimulator() { // serial port configuration m_port = new SerialPort(); m_port.DataReceived += DataReceivedEvent; } ... } The main object has two threads. The main thread of the application and a timer to refresh a watchdog timer in the real object. public ErrorCode Connect() { ... StartSynchroTimer(); Thread.Sleep(4); // to check if the timer is working properly ... } The problem seems to be comming from the Thread.Sleep() call, as when I remove it everything works. The ObjectSimulator somehow doesn't execute the DataReceived event callback. How can I resolve this issue?
