  • Membership systems for MVC4 that support RavenDB

    I create a lot of quick "proof of concept" MVC apps and I actually found the SimpleMembership provider that shipped with the MVC4 templates to be very handy since it gets me up and running with user registration & OAuth in a matter of minutes. But...I've started to use RavenDb (on RavenHQ for a lot for my projects). So, I starting trying to implement my own "custom membership provider" based on the ExtendedMembershipProvider and while doing that I realized that didn't make much sense. I later stumbled upon 2 interesting projects that try to solve this exact problem: WorldDomination.Web.Auth: https://github.com/PureKrome/WorldDomination.Web.Authentication MemFlex: https://github.com/OdeToCode/Memflex Both are pretty interesting recent efforts and was wondering if these are the only ones being built right now. I'm essentially looking for nuget pkg that I can drop into a MVC4 app, connect to my RavenDb and be done. I'm willing to build this thing but don't want to duplicate any efforts that are already in motion. Thx!

My query originally returned (amongst other details) the values "SpentTotal" and "UnderSpent" for all members/users for the current month.   • Creating a Non-Databound Report in Winforms

    I am using Visual Studio 2008 and all the components that come with it as well as Infragisitics for Winforms. I need to design a label that will print to a label printer. None of the controls are databound and will most likely be set in code eg/Label.Text = "My Heading"; as there will be minimal information on the label. One piece of information is a barcode so I need the functionality to do that, I assume I can just set the font of the label to barcode and it will do its thing. Can I just add a Crystal Report to a form design it, set the label text properties in code, tell it what printer to print to and then call report.Print(); I've had a quick go and seems not as easy as I thought.     Hi, I'd like to make a textbox that accepts only numbers, but not integer, but rather double. I've read here about e.Handled = Not Char.IsDigit(e.KeyChar) and it works, but again, it can be used only for integer, since it declines decimal point. Another thing I've read here is If Not Double.TryParse(TextBox2.Text, value) Then .... and it would work fine, except that it allows only decimal comma instead of point. I don't know whether it's because of my location settings (Hungary, we use commas instead of points), but I don't have any other idea how to solve my problem, and the SQL server I send my data uses decimal point.     I haveasp:GridView displaying client requests using asp:SqlDataSource. I want to limit displayed information by client: View.aspx has to display everything, View.aspx?client=1 has to display only requests from client ID #1. So I'm using <asp:QueryStringParameter Name="client" QueryStringField="client" /> for query "EXEC getRequests @client". Everything works properly when some client is specified. But don't - if not. I tested my SP using SSMS - it works properly in both cases - when parameter is specified and when it isn't (NULL passed explicitly). What have I do?

I dread having to deal with HTML, JavaScript etc. to build a high quality browser based user interface. I've got the full suite of Telerik controls. Is it possible to build a polished, somewhat feature rich browser UI while being sheltered from the archaic environment of HTML and JavaScript?     I'm trying to create a function to parse out all values in a multidimensional Array with all but one dimension given. The details are not relevant, but for this function I need to return an one-dimensional Array containing values of the same type the original multidimensional Array has. To pass any Array with any dimension to my function, I declared the type of this parameter as Array. However, how would I create a new Array of that specific type (e.g. Integer)? Currently I have the following code: Function GetRow(ByVal arr As Array) As Array Dim result As (...) 'This should be Integer() if arr contains Integers, etc. Return result End Function How do I declare the type of result to make it having the same type of values as arr?   • Was Visual Studio 2008 or 2010 written to use multi cores?

    basically i want to know if the visual studio IDE and/or compiler in 2010 was written to make use of a multi core environment (i understand we can target multi core environments in 08 and 10, but that is not my question). i am trying to decide on if i should get a higher clock dual core or a lower clock quad core, as i want to try and figure out which processor will give me the absolute best possible experience with Visual Studio 2010 (ide and background compiler). if they are running the most important section (background compiler and other ide tasks) in one core, then the core will get cut off quicker if running a quad core, esp if background compiler is the heaviest task, i would imagine this would b e difficult to seperate in more then one process, so even if it uses multi cores you might still be better off with going for a higher clock cpu if the majority of the processing is still bound to occur in one core (ie the most significant part of the VS environment). i am a vb programmer, they've made great performance improvements in beta 2, congrats, but i would love to be able to use VS seamlessly... anyone have any ideas? thanks, erx

    Hi, Before I ask my doubt, please consider this scenario that a user on my website have a profileID. With this profileID are associated some pluginID's. For eg: User1 might have 2, 3 and 5 plugins associated with its profile. When the user logs in, I store the profileID of the user in a session variable cod. At a certain page, the user tries to edit the plugins associated with his profile. So, on that page, I have retrieve those pluginID's from the DB. I have applied this code but this fetches only the maximum pluginID from the DB and not all the pluginID's.     I've been stuck at this for days now. I copied the exact codes from google api samples to upload files to Google Drive. Here is the code UserCredential credential = GoogleWebAuthorizationBroker.AuthorizeAsync( new ClientSecrets { ClientId = ClientId, ClientSecret = ClientSecret, }, new[] { DriveService.Scope.Drive, DriveService.Scope.DriveFile }, "user", CancellationToken.None, new FileDataStore("MyStore")).Result; But it would throw an exception at runtime: Method not found: 'Void Google.Apis.Util.Store.FileDataStore..ctor(System.String)'. I already added the necessary Google Api dlls. Or if anyone could suggest a better code for uploading files to Google Drive in a website which implements Server-Side Authorization. Any help would be greatly appreciated.   • How can I tell when the Text of a System.Windows.Forms.GroupBox wraps to the next line?

    I'm creating a GroupBox at runtime and setting its Text property. Usually, the text is only on one line, but sometimes it wraps. The problem is that the controls contained in the GroupBox cover up the GroupBox's text. What I'd like to do is determine if and when the text wraps. Specifically, I'd like to determine how much extra height the wrapped text takes up as compared to a single line. That way, I can reposition the GroupBox's controls and adjust its height. Initially, I thought I'd do this by calling the GroupBox's CreateGraphics() method, and using the Graphics to measure the string. Something like this: private void SetGroupBoxText(GroupBox grp, string text) { const int somePadding = 10; Graphics g = grp.CreateGraphics(); SizeF textSize = g.MeasureString(text, grp.Font); if (textSize.Width > (grp.Width - somePadding)) { // Adjust height, etc. } } The problem is that the size generated by g.MeasureString(text, grp.Font) doesn't seem to be accurate. I determined that it wasn't accurate by putting enough of a single character to cause a wrap, then measuring the resulting string. For example, it took 86 pipes (|) to until a wrap happened. When I measured that string, its width was ~253. And it took 16 capital W's to force a wrap - its string had a width of ~164. These were the two extremes that I tested. My GroupBox's width was 189. (a's took 29 and had a width of ~180, O's took 22 and had a width of ~189) Does anyone have any ideas? (hacks, WinAPI, etc. are welcome solutions)
