  • Problem with Marshalling char* in c#

    - by chrmue
    I have a problem calling this function from a c++ DLL in c# INT32 WINAPI PM_COM_GetText(INT32 TextId, char* pBuf, INT32 BufSize); It writes a Text in a buffer for a given text id. I try to call it with the following c# code, but I constantly get an access violation and don't undrestand why: public string GetText(Int32 TextId) { Int32 BufSize = 256; StringBuilder Str = new StringBuilder(BufSize); PM_COM_GetText(TextId, Str, BufSize); return Str.ToString(); } [DllImport("ComDll.dll", CharSet = CharSet.Ansi)] private static extern Int32 PM_COM_GetText(Int32 TextId, StringBuilder Str, Int32 BufSize); I don't see what's wrong, it looks to me like many other code snippets I found in the web. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

  • DBD::CSV: Problem with file-name-extensions

  • Code golf: combining multiple sorted lists into a single sorted list

    - by Alabaster Codify
    Implement an algorithm to merge an arbitrary number of sorted lists into one sorted list. The aim is to create the smallest working programme, in whatever language you like. For example: input: ((1, 4, 7), (2, 5, 8), (3, 6, 9)) output: (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9) input: ((1, 10), (), (2, 5, 6, 7)) output: (1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 10) Note: solutions which concatenate the input lists then use a language-provided sort function are not in-keeping with the spirit of golf, and will not be accepted: sorted(sum(lists,[])) # cheating: out of bounds! Apart from anything else, your algorithm should be (but doesn't have to be) a lot faster! Clearly state the language, any foibles and the character count. Only include meaningful characters in the count, but feel free to add whitespace to the code for artistic / readability purposes. To keep things tidy, suggest improvement in comments or by editing answers where appropriate, rather than creating a new answer for each "revision". EDIT: if I was submitting this question again, I would expand on the "no language provided sort" rule to be "don't concatenate all the lists then sort the result". Existing entries which do concatenate-then-sort are actually very interesting and compact, so I won't retro-actively introduce a rule they break, but feel free to work to the more restrictive spec in new submissions. • Launching Vim via Lua

    - by Keith Pimmel
    I'm writing a simple little Lua commandline app that will build a static website. I'm storing my fragments in a sqlite database. Retrieving the data from the db is straightforward as is saving it; my question comes from editing the data. Is there an elegant way to pipe the data from Lua to vim? Can vim edit a memory buffer and return it? I was planning on launching the editor via os.execute('vim') but only after grabbing a temporary file handle and dumping the database output into that. I would like to have to avoid touching the filesystem that way but that is my contingency plan.

  • Compressing xls content with apache deflate module

    - by Clinton Bosch
    I am trying to compress an excel spreadsheet being sent from my application using apache deflate module. I have added the following line to the my sites-enabled file: AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/html text/plain text/xml text/css text/javascript application/excel But is seems to make the response data bigger??? Using firebug, without the module I downloaded the xls spreadsheet from the application and it downloaded 100Kb of data, the file size once on the filesystem was also 100Kb as expected. Once I enabled the deflate module as described above and repeated the process, the amount of data downloaded was 295Kb?? but the file was still only 100Kb once save on the filesystem. As an experiment I manually gzipped the saved xls file and it compressed to 20Kb. What am I doing wrong here? • WinForms/Console application on Mono, how to know it runs as root

    - by Lex Li-MSFT
    As we can execute such executables in two ways, such as "sudo mono test.exe", and "mono test.exe". Now I want to know how to detect whether this application is running as root inside the application itself. I tried to check user name like below and see whether they equal to "root", Thread.CurrentPrincipal.Identity.Name Process.GetCurrentProcess().StartInfo.UserName AppDomain.CurrentDomain.ApplicationIdentity.FullName The first two are empty strings always, while the third throws NullReferenceException. Please advise if this is doable on Mono 2.6.

  • PHP - fgetcsv - Delimiter being ignored?

    - by KnockKnockWhosThere
    I'm trying to output each line in a csv file, and it seems like the delimiter is being ignored... I'm sure my syntax is wrong somewhere, but can't seem to pinpoint it... The CSV file looks like this: ID,Code,Count TM768889,02001,10 TM768889,02002,10 TM768889,02003,10 TM768889,02004,10 TM768889,02005,10 I'm trying to output: 0 - ID,Code,Count 1 - TM768889,02001,10 2 - TM768889,02002,10 3 - TM768889,02003,10 4 - TM768889,02004,10 5 - TM768889,02005,10 But instead, it's outputting this: 0 - ID 1 - Code 2 - Count TM768889 3 - 02001 4 - 10 TM768889 5 - 02002 6 - 10 TM768889 7 - 02003 8 - 10 TM768889 9 - 02004 10 - 10 TM768889 11 - 02005 12 - 10 Here's my code: $row = 0; if(($handle = fopen($_FILES["Filedata"]["tmp_name"], "r")) !== FALSE) { $string = ''; while(($line = fgetcsv($handle,1000,",")) !== FALSE) { $num = count($line); $row++; for($c=0; $c < $num; $c++) { $string .= $c.' - '.$line[$c].'<br />'; } } fclose($handle); echo $string; }

  • Segmenting a double array of labels

    - by Ami
    The Problem: I have a large double array populated with various labels. Each element (cell) in the double array contains a set of labels and some elements in the double array may be empty. I need an algorithm to cluster elements in the double array into discrete segments. A segment is defined as a set of pixels that are adjacent within the double array and one label that all those pixels in the segment have in common. (Diagonal adjacency doesn't count and I'm not clustering empty cells). |-------|-------|------| | Jane | Joe | | | Jack | Jane | | |-------|-------|------| | Jane | Jane | | | | Joe | | |-------|-------|------| | | Jack | Jane | | | Joe | | |-------|-------|------| In the above arrangement of labels distributed over nine elements, the largest cluster is the “Jane” cluster occupying the four upper left cells. What I've Considered: I've considered iterating through every label of every cell in the double array and testing to see if the cell-label combination under inspection can be associated with a preexisting segment. If the element under inspection cannot be associated with a preexisting segment it becomes the first member of a new segment. If the label/cell combination can be associated with a preexisting segment it associates. Of course, to make this method reasonable I'd have to implement an elaborate hashing system. I'd have to keep track of all the cell-label combinations that stand adjacent to preexisting segments and are in the path of the incrementing indices that are iterating through the double array. This hash method would avoid having to iterate through every pixel in every preexisting segment to find an adjacency. Why I Don't Like it: As is, the above algorithm doesn't take into consideration the case where an element in the double array can be associated with two unique segments, one in the horizontal direction and one in the vertical direction. To handle these cases properly, I would need to implement a test for this specific case and then implement a method that will both associate the element under inspection with a segment and then concatenate the two adjacent identical segments. On the whole, this method and the intricate hashing system that it would require feels very inelegant. Additionally, I really only care about finding the large segments in the double array and I'm much more concerned with the speed of this algorithm than with the accuracy of the segmentation, so I'm looking for a better way. I assume there is some stochastic method for doing this that I haven't thought of. Any suggestions?

  • Cocoa: Creating a Window with a Variable Number of Interface Elements

    - by Rui Pacheco
    Hi, I've a window that will have an unknown amount of text fields, determined by the content of a remote server. In high level terms, how should I go about this? Create a custom view or create an empty window with a backing NSWindowController and then add stuff to it when the window is opened? I've seen the examples on the O'Reilly Cocoa book and those effectively create a custom NSView. Is this the right way to do it, 8 year later?

  • Printing a sideways triangle in java

    - by Will
    I'm trying to print a sideways triangle in java. If the user enters 5, the output should be: * *** ***** *** * If the user enters 6, the output should be: * *** ***** ***** *** * I've gotten it to work for the case when the user enters 5, 3, or 1 but my code seems to work for those three cases only. I was wondering if anyone could help me get my code working for more cases. Here it is: public void printArrow( int n ) { int asterisks = 1; for ( int i = 0; i <= n/2; i++ ) { for ( int j = i; j < asterisks; j++ ) { System.out.print( "*" ); } asterisks += 3; System.out.println(); } asterisks = asterisks / 2 - 2; for ( int i = 0; i < n/2; i++ ) { for ( int k = i; k < asterisks; k++ ) { System.out.print( "*" ); } if ( i == 1 ) { System.out.print( "*" ); } asterisks -= 2; System.out.println(); } }

  • PHP Error handling in WordPress plugin

    - by AaronM
    I am a newbie to both PHP and Wordpress (but do ok in C#), and am struggling to understand the error handling in a custom plugin I am attempting to write. The basics of the plugin is to query an exsiting MSSQL database (note its not the standard MYSQL db...) and return the rows back to the screen. This was working well, but the hosting provider has taken my database offline, which led me to the error handling problem (which I thought was ok). The following code is failing to connect to the database (as expected), but puts an error onto the screen and stops the page processing. It does not even output the 'or die' error text. QUESTION: How can I just output a simple "Cant load data" message, and continue on normally? function generateData() { global $post; if ("$post->post_title" == "Home") { try { $myServer = "<servername>"; $myUser = "<username>"; $myPass = "<password>"; $myDB = "<dbName>"; //connection to the database $dbhandle = mssql_connect($myServer, $myUser, $myPass) or die("Couldn't open database $myDB"); //... query processing here... } catch (Exception $e) { echo "Cannot load data<br />"; } } return $content; } Error being generated: (line 31 is $dbhandle = mssql_connect...) Warning: mssql_connect() [function.mssql-connect]: Unable to connect to server: <servername> in <file path> on line 31 Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in <file path> on line 31

  • Strange casting problem with tm structure

    - by egiakoum1984
    I have the following casting problem when my data structure sSpecificData contains a field of type tm: typedef struct { unsigned char data[10000]; } sDataBuffer; typedef struct { int m_Id; sDataBuffer m_Data; } sData; typedef struct { int m_value1; int m_value2; tm m_Date; } sSpecificData; const int SPECIFIC_SVC_DATA_SIZE = sizeof(sSpecificData); typedef struct { int m_Id; sSpecificData m_Data; } sMyData; int main(void) { sData svc; sMyData* ptr1 = (sMyData*) &svc; sSpecificData* ptr2; ptr2 = (sSpecificData*) &svc.m_Data; ptr1->m_Data.m_value1 = 90; ptr1->m_Data.m_value2 = 80; cout << ptr1->m_Data.m_value1 << endl; cout << ptr1->m_Data.m_value2 << endl; cout << ptr2->m_value1 << endl; cout << ptr2->m_value2 << endl; return 0; } Without the field "tm m_Date;" as part of the sSpecificData, the output is correct: 90 80 90 80 With the field "tm m_Date;" as part of the sSpecificData, the output is wrong: 90 80 0 <-- ! 90 <-- ! Is there any idea why my example doesn't work when there is field of type tm as part of the sSpecificData? Thanks!

  • WordPress: Display Online Users' Avatars

    - by Wade D Ouellet
    Hi, I'm using version 2.7.0 of this WordPress plugin to display which users are currently online (the latest version doesn't work): http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-useronline/ It's working great but I would love to be able to alter it quickly to display the users' avatars instead of their names. Hoping someone with pretty good knowledge of WordPress queries and functions can help. The part below seems to be the part that handles all this. If this isn't enough, here is the link to download the version I am using with the full php files: http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/wp-useronline.2.70.zip // If No Bot Is Found, Then We Check Members And Guests if ( !$bot_found ) { if ( $current_user->ID ) { // Check For Member $user_id = $current_user->ID; $user_name = $current_user->display_name; $user_type = 'member'; $where = $wpdb->prepare("WHERE user_id = %d", $user_id); } elseif ( !empty($_COOKIE['comment_author_'.COOKIEHASH]) ) { // Check For Comment Author (Guest) $user_id = 0; $user_name = trim(strip_tags($_COOKIE['comment_author_'.COOKIEHASH])); $user_type = 'guest'; } else { // Check For Guest $user_id = 0; $user_name = __('Guest', 'wp-useronline'); $user_type = 'guest'; } } // Check For Page Title if ( is_admin() && function_exists('get_admin_page_title') ) { $page_title = ' &raquo; ' . __('Admin', 'wp-useronline') . • Triangle numbers problem....show within 4 seconds

    - by Daredevil
    The sequence of triangle numbers is generated by adding the natural numbers. So the 7th triangle number would be 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 = 28. The first ten terms would be: 1, 3, 6, 10, 15, 21, 28, 36, 45, 55, ... Let us list the factors of the first seven triangle numbers: 1: 1 3: 1,3 6: 1,2,3,6 10: 1,2,5,10 15: 1,3,5,15 21: 1,3,7,21 28: 1,2,4,7,14,28 We can see that 28 is the first triangle number to have over five divisors. Given an integer n, display the first triangle number having at least n divisors. Sample Input: 5 Output 28 Input Constraints: 1<=n<=320 I was obviously able to do this question, but I used a naive algorithm: Get n. Find triangle numbers and check their number of factors using the mod operator. But the challenge was to show the output within 4 seconds of input. On high inputs like 190 and above it took almost 15-16 seconds. Then I tried to put the triangle numbers and their number of factors in a 2d array first and then get the input from the user and search the array. But somehow I couldn't do it: I got a lot of processor faults. Please try doing it with this method and paste the code. Or if there are any better ways, please tell me.

  • How do you use vim's quickfix feature?

    - by hora
    I'm a pretty new Vim user and I've found that its learning curve is quite steep (at least for me). I just installed this vim script for JavaScriptLint error checking, which shows errors in vim's quickfix window once I save a buffer. However, I don't know what to do next.. How do I 'scroll' through all the errors? How do I close the quickfix 'window'? How do I get it to check for errors after I've made changes to my code? I've looked at the vim quickfix docs but the amount of commands are overwhelming and I can't seem to find what I want. Any help would be appreciated. A side question: is there any way to have javascriptlint check for js errors for code residing in a .html file? Thanks!

They definitely come from thinking outside of the box and trying to come up with a better mnemonic set than last time. When the previous python interpreter was written, it was completed over two contiguous, rushed evenings. This rewrite deserves significantly more time now that it is the summer. Of course, the next version of Whitespace (0.4) may have its instructions revised even more, but this is just a redesign of what originally was done in a few hours. Hopefully, the instructions make more sense to those new to programming jargon.

    Hi all, In Google Chrome after pressing enter key in WYMEDITOR a new is created. How to change it? I would rather insert tag as it happens after shift-enter combination. (In fact shif-enter creates two ). Similar question concerns backspace pressed on the beginning of paragraph. How to change this behaviour to erase paragraph (or other) only when it is empty and do nothing otherwise. I'll be greatful for any hints.
