• Silverlight Goes Mobile!

  The most exciting announcements from Mix 2010 last week for me were the release of the Windows Phone 7 Series SDK and the news that the platform utilizes Silverlight for the application development technology. From the press and exposure that the platform is being given and the experience that is promised it looks like the Windows Phone 7 Series could eventually compete with the iPhone. For me this is exciting as Silverlight can now be used to develop RIA apps, easily deployed desktop apps and mobile apps. As someone who delivers enterprise technology solutions this equates to a whole bunch of opportunity knocking at the door and asking to join the party. Watch this space for future posts on developing apps on the Windows Phone 7 Series platform!

You can read the blogpost titled “The New SharePoint”. But one paragraph has stuck out, “Use SharePoint as an out-of-box application whenever possible - We designed the new SharePoint UI to be clean, simple and fast and work great out-of-box. • Libre Office Impress opens in 11.10, but not in the launcher

  I double click my presentation to open it w/Impress and it opens, but there is no icon in the launcher (or alt-tab switcher) to indicate that its open. I tried keeping the Impress icon in the launcher, then opening my presentation, but the same thing happened. Then I tried opening Impress from the launcher and opening my file from inside impress...no luck either. What's up with that? btw, im using 11.10 and the file was made with office 2010 and saved as a .ppt if that has anything to do with it. Any help is appreciated

  Just found this, if you’re using Azure 1.1,  which you probably will be if yo'u’ve moved to Visual Studio 2010. To change the default database to something other than sqlexpress for Development Storage do this - Look at this - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd203058.aspx At the bottom it states -   Using Development Storage with SQL Server Express 2008 By default the local Windows Group BUILTIN\Administrator is not included in the SQL Server sysadmin server role on new SQL Server Express 2008 installations.  Add yourself to the sysadmin role in order to use the Development Storage Services on SQL Server Express 2008.  See SQL Server 2008 Security Changes for more information. Changing the SQL Server instance used by Development Storage By default, the Development Storage will use the SQL Express instance.  This can be changed by calling “DSInit.exe /sqlinstance:<SQL Server instance>” from the Windows Azure SDK command prompt.

  Hi all, We are implementing Exchange 2010 server and an eCommerce site. Both of these need certificates and I am confused what to use? I know Exchange need UC certificate. Can I use it for the ecommerce site as well? I did read EV is recommended for web sites.. I would like to know what to use and the recommended procedures. Here how we will be using the certificates: We are planning to use *.net for testing Exchange server Will be using *.com for Exchange server (Production) Will be using *.com for ecommerce site (Production) I also heard about certificates which are both EV UC.. please recommend the correct certificates to use.   Does anyone find this odd that this is a book from mid 2010 on a pretty popular topic and there is no "see inside" but even worse no reviews!?!?! I want to buy it but this extremely odd that for such a popular topic there isn't at least 2 or more reviews. I'd expect a ton of reviews on a book on a subject such as this. Dependency Injection in .NET (Manning) Anyone have this book that can tell me if it's worth my money? the date incorrectly states 2001 on Amazon and I've notified the author on that.

  At work, we recently started using Team Foundation Server to manage our source code, i have no idea how to use this system. I do not know even know how to check source code in and out. Does anyone know of a step-by-step tutorial on how to work with TFS? Just for basic operations e.g. get latest version, upload your changes, etc. I am accessing it from Visual Studio 2010. I also have access to the TFS web interface.
