• Compatible case?

  Hello everyone, first of all, I'm not sure where this question should go. So I've looked around and found the 'hardware' tag used in superuser.com please forgive me if I'm posting this on the wrong site. I'm new to the hardware part of computers. I've been looking around for a few months and now is the time to make my choice. I want to build my own computer and I think I got all the items I need. I want to know if the case and the motherboard I've chosen are compatible or if you could tell me how to check if they're compatible I want to know if they fit. Here's the motherboard/processor/memory package And this* is the case I'd like to fit it in. I'm sure that all the other stuff I might need I have with me already. • Zentyal Server : Setting up secure VPN Client

  I have officially exhausted pretty much all my google-fu trying to set this up so I'm asking my question here. For the record, I am a mid level rookie who has played around with servers in his spare time but have never worked with Zentyal Server. Now, I have been able to set up the server as a gateway, with one Network card being external and the other facing the internal Network. The Internal network computers are able to access the internet without any issues. What I need to do is to setup a open-vpn client on the central server so that all Internet data goes though the secure VPN session. As far as I can see, I can't set up the vpn session through the web admin page. Could somebody point me in the right direction? How would I go about doing this? Regards Shreyas

  I have a number of users which are logged in at a time in my desktop application. They are working on the same table (create, read, update, delete data) so I have to update their views, to reflect changes, every few seconds - currently I am thinking to use a different thread to do that. I am using the MySQL database engine. Is there a way, using JDBC, to listen for changes on a specific table in the database and triggering a Java method only when changes are made?

• How to forward traffic using iptables rules?

  I am new to iptables and I have been doing Google searches for a few days now without finding a good solution to this problem. I have computer A with a public ip address (say 192.0.2.1) that can access the Internet unrestricted. I have another computer B with a private ip address (192.168.1.1) that can only access computer A. How do I use iptables to forward network traffic from B through A to the Internet? I need to use http, ftp, and https in order to use apt-get with sudo. Both computers run Ubuntu linux. I have tried using Squid but I think it is far too complicated for what I need to do.

• PNY ExpressCard SATA II 2-port card - drivers?

  I bought a couple of PNY eSATA cards for notebook computers, model P-NSA2-EC-RF. I mistakenly thought that they would be a bit more plug-and-play, like cards that supply USB or Firewire ports. They did not ship with the Driver CD, and the drivers I found on the PNY web site didn't work. I've emailed their support group, but we all know how likely it is that they will respond before the end of the decade. Does anyone have a driver disc handy for this model card, or know where I might download a driver ISO? (Dell XPS M1330 laptop running Windows 7 x64 and sometimes Windows 7 x86)

• USB port not working

  Everytime I put pendrive in the USB port(all ports in my computer) it doesnt work especially when plug the USB Flash Drive, but after several hours it work again. But When I try to open this pen drive data on other computers, I'm able to open & work ... So definitely there is no problem with my pen drive. and I've enabled USB keyboard & mouse in Bios. • What sort of things can cause a whole system to appear to hang for 100s-1000s of milliseconds?

  I am working on a Windows game and while rendering, some computers will experience intermittent pauses ("hitches" for lack of a better term). When profiled they appear in seemingly random places in the code. Eventually I noticed that it wasn't just my process that was affected, but (seemingly) every process on the system. All of the threads in my application hitch at once. The CPU utilization drops during these hitches and it appears as if most processes make no progress. This leads me to believe this may be an Operating System or Driver issue, but it only occurs while playing the game (and only on some systems). What sort of operations might the operating system be doing that would require the kernel to pause all user threads and block. Some kind of I/O? At first I thought of paging but my impression is that would only affect a single process, no? Some systems in use: Windows, DirectX (3d), nVidia cards (unknown if replicates on ATI), using overlapped io for streaming

  When trying to repair slow workstations, I've found that running sfc /scannow helps quite a lot in a few of my environments running really old computers. I've also seen recommendations of reinstalling the last service pack after software installation to help keep the system stable. That makes sense as it would replace a lot of the dll files with the ones that would come with the service pack. They both seem to do the same thing, but SFC some times will ask for a disk, where the Service Pack will not. What is the main difference between the two?

This is so you can create the index at a specific location C) Point clients to index. Again this mentions Option double click. What is the Windows equivalent to option double click iTunes?

  In Windows XP, one can press Alt-PrintScreen to copy an image of the active window, or Ctrl-PrintScreen to copy an image of the full desktop. This can then be pasted into applications that accept images: Photoshop, Microsoft Word, etc. I'm wondering: Is there a way to save the screenshot directly to a file? Do I really have to open Photoshop simply to paste an image, then save it?

• Computer connects to lan, but not the internet

  I have a computer with Vista Home that can connect to the router, but it cannot get on the internet. I cannot ping google.com, the request times out. I've tried this on two separate networks and have no trouble with other computers connecting. I've renewed ipconfig, reset winsock, updated the wireless adapter, and the hosts file looks fine. I've tried disabling the firewall as well as a direct wired connection. I did a scan with Norton and it didn't find anything. Is there anything else I can try before resorting to a system restore? Update (Copied from Answer) Windows Update was able to find updates and install them (though, they could have already been downloaded previously). When I pinged Google by using their IP 66.102.9.103, it said it lost 25 percent of the packets. I successfully flushed the DNS but it didn't help. Also, I found safe mode with networking works fine.

I want Java to create them automatically if they aren't already there. Actually Java should set up the whole file path if not already existing. How can I achieve this?

  What is the minimum rights required to access the Users directory on another computer via an admin share? I have a batch file that writes some information to a few other computers using a path of \\%COMPUTERNAME%\c$\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming. The batch files run under an unprivileged user (part of Domain Users only). How do I set appropriate rights so that service account can access the AppData\Roaming folder for every user on another computer? I'd like to give rights lower than Local Admin, which I know will work. Things I've attempted: As Domain Admin, attempted to give Modify rights to the C:\Users\ directory on the local computer. Error: Access Denied. Set the service account as Local Admin on the other computer. This works, but is against IT policy where I work. I'd like to accomplish this with rights lower than Local Admin. Any suggestions?

  I tried to boot my pc using ubuntu 6.06 in the live cd mode but it refuses to boot. It throws the error Uncompressing Linux.. ok, booting from kernel [ 54.168828] ACPI Unable to load the System Descriptor Tables The live cd works perfectly okay in other computers. Out of curiosity, I also tried to boot using Slax live cd, It too threw some errors incomplete literal tree invalid compressed format (err=1) UDF-fs: No partition found (1) XFS: bade magic number XFS: SB validate failed Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(1,0) The slax errors are a bit worrying to me.   Hi, I've been trying to find a way to have a real equalizer for my Toshiba Satellite Pro Laptop. I don't know much about computers but the guys in the store seem to know less than I do! From what I've been able to glean through friends, Windows 7 no longer supports a real equalizer function with Realtek, and the result is a fake "equalizer" that does nothing. I have hearing issues so not being able properly adjust the higher frequencies is causing me physical pain and ringing in my ears. I've tried to decipher the threads I find online but am quite confused by them. Basically I need an equalizer that will work with Windows 7 (with everything, internet, skype, music, etc). The current drivers offered by Realtek do nothing except make the sound inaudible. The one that may possibly work and provide an actual equalizer is a few versions back and can't be found anywhere. Thanks! And sorry if this is a duplicate question but I am confused a bit by the threads online.

Is there a hacky way to do this?   Is there anyway to make a folder or a partition on a computer (Linux or Windows) act like a mass storage device to other computers or devices when connected with a Male-Male USB cable? For example, I have a Windows 7 computer with 2 partitions, C and D. I would then connect that computer to another computer or a Smart TV using a Male-Male USB cable, and the other computer or device recognizes a folder/partition on current computer as a mass storage device. Is this possible? If not, is there any USB switch that can connect an external hard drive or flash drive to both a computer and TV without the need to manually switch them? (I know about some USB switches, but they only support automatic switching with some certain types of printers, not with mass storage)

  I plan to use git for hosting my projects on my server. I've read about cgit, git-daemon, and I more or less decided to use those tools. But general use is still kind of confusing for me. What do I need to set up on the server, to push my files onto it. And when the files on the server are newer as the files on my computer, how do I merge them? Also, I use, say, two computers where I develop. How do I merge from one computer to the other? Also, when two people are working on the same project, how do they merge their local repos from one another?   I don't seem to have all the man pages that I need. For example, my college computers (running Fedora 14) have man pages for ASCII, all the standard C libraries (stdlib.h, stdio.h) and so on and so forth. I wish to "install" these pages, after looking up on the Internet I couldn't really find anything that made sense. How can I get, say, the man-page of ASCII (I know it's not really a command or a daemon or anything like that, but typing man ASCII on the college computer gets me a page with the ASCII value table + a little more information). I don't want to keep using the Internet for looking up man pages every time I need to look up a function, function prototype or the ASCII table or something like that.
