  • Business object and linq2SQL

    - by Overdose
What is the optimal way to write the code which interacts with DB using linq2SQL? I need to add some business logic to the entities. So I guess there are two ways: Write some wrapper class. The main minus is that many fields are the same, so i don't feel it as DRY style. Add business logic methods to linq2sql entities(these classes are partial) directly ???

  • Ninject: Singleton binding syntax?

    - by Rosarch
I'm using Ninject 2.0 for the .Net 3.5 framework. I'm having difficulty with singleton binding. I have a class UserInputReader which implements IInputReader. I only want one instance of this class to ever be created. public class MasterEngineModule : NinjectModule { public override void Load() { // using this line and not the other two makes it work //Bind<IInputReader>().ToMethod(context => new UserInputReader(Constants.DEFAULT_KEY_MAPPING)); Bind<IInputReader>().To<UserInputReader>(); Bind<UserInputReader>().ToSelf().InSingletonScope(); } } static void Main(string[] args) { IKernel ninject = new StandardKernel(new MasterEngineModule()); MasterEngine game = ninject.Get<MasterEngine>(); game.Run(); } public sealed class UserInputReader : IInputReader { public static readonly IInputReader Instance = new UserInputReader(Constants.DEFAULT_KEY_MAPPING); // ... public UserInputReader(IDictionary<ActionInputType, Keys> keyMapping) { this.keyMapping = keyMapping; } } If I make that constructor private, it breaks. What am I doing wrong here?

  • Writing an ostream filter?

    - by shoosh
I'd like to write a simple ostream which wraps an argument ostream and changes the stream in some way before passing it on to the argument stream. The transformation is something simple like changing a letter or erasing a word What would a simple class inheriting from ostream look like? What methods should I override?

  • unprotected access to member in property get

    - by Lenik
I have a property public ObservableCollection<string> Name { get { return _nameCache; } } _nameCache is updated by multiple threads in other class methods. The updates are guarded by a lock. The question is: should I use the same lock around my return statement? Will not using a lock lead to a race condition?

  • Java: If I overwrite the .equals method, can I still test for reference equality with ==?

    - by shots fired
I have the following situation: I need to sort trees based by height, so I made the Tree's comparable using the height attribute. However, I was also told to overwrite the equals and hashCode methods to avoid unpredictable behaviour. Still, sometimes I may want to compare the references of the roots or something along those lines using ==. Is that still possible or does the == comparison call the equals method?

Thank you in advance :)

  • Alternatives to persisting objects than using __destruct() in PHP

    - by Michael
I usually use a classes destructor method __destruct() to persist objects to session or what have you. It is just very convinient, but I'm curious to if there are any other methods that are equally appealing. Do you know of such? The curiousity arose as I was to merge/utilize two frameworks that both made use of __destruct() for persistance resulting in a race-problem.

  • Mobile opera have background sound support?

    - by Mark
I make browser/html/js games. One of my biggest pains in the arse is the lack of background sound support in mobile safari. This lack of support makes high value games pretty much impossible. Does anyone know if opera mini supports html5 audio, or any mobile browser for that matter. If not, what are some alternatives methods.

  • Downside to including headers in every source file (Objective-C)

    - by Michael Waterfall
I'm currently including my AppDelegate.h and all of my category headers into every one of my source files using the MyApp_Prefix.pch prefix header, instead of manually #importing them only where they are used. The category methods and lots of compiler #define's in my app delegate are used in lots of places in my code. Is there any down side to this? Is it just that compilation will take longer?

  • Why are my thread being terminated ?

    - by Sephy
Hi, I'm trying to repeat calls to methods through 3 differents threads. But after I start my threads, during the next iteration of my loop, they are all terminated so nothing is executed... The code is as follows : public static void main(String[] args) { main = new Main(); pollingThread.start(); } static Thread pollingThread = new Thread() { @Override public void run() { while (isRunning) { main.poll(); // test the state of the threads try { Thread.sleep(1000); } catch (InterruptedException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } }; }; public void poll() { if (clientThread == null) { clientThread = new Thread(new Runnable() { @Override public void run() { //create some objects } }); clientThread.start(); } else if (clientThread.isAlive()) { // do some treatment } if (gestionnaireThread == null) { gestionnaireThread = new Thread(new Runnable() { @Override public void run() { //create some objects }; }); gestionnaireThread.start(); } else if (gestionnaireThread.isAlive()) { // do some treatment } if (marchandThread == null) { marchandThread = new Thread(new Runnable() { @Override public void run() { // create some objects }; }); marchandThread.start(); } else if (marchandThread.isAlive()) { // do some treatment } } And for some reason, when I test the state of my different threads, they appear as runnable and then a the 2nd iteration, they are all terminated... What am I doing wrong? I actually have no error, but the threads are terminated and so my loop keeps looping and telling me the threads are terminated.... Thanks for any help.

I'm looking for just a simple method for permutating strings/integers in C++. I can easily do it in C#, but I'm just learning C++ and can't seem to find the right methods. Can someone show me a simple example that will find all permutations of an integer? And then the exact same for a string?

  • HELP IN JAVA!! URGENT

    - by annayena
The following function accepts 2 strings, the 2nd (not 1st) possibly containing *'s (asterisks). An * is a replacement for a string (empty, 1 char or more), it can appear appear (only in s2) once, twice, more or not at all, it cannot be adjacent to another * (ab**c), no need to check that. public static boolean samePattern(String s1, String s2) It returns true if strings are of the same pattern. It must be recursive, not use any loops, static & global variables. Also it's PROHIBITED to use the method equals in the String class. Can use local variables & method overloading. Can use only these methods: charAt(i), substring(i), substring(i, j), length(). Examples: 1: TheExamIsEasy; 2: "The*xamIs*y" --- true 1: TheExamIsEasy; 2: "Th*mIsEasy*" --- true 1: TheExamIsEasy; 2: "*" --- true 1: TheExamIsEasy; 2: "TheExamIsEasy" --- true 1: TheExamIsEasy; 2: "The*IsHard" --- FALSE I am stucked on this question for many hours now! I need the solution in Java please kindly help me.
