• Best way to install multiple versions of Apache, PHP and MySQL on a single FreeBSD host

  I want a test- and development-environment for web using Apache, PHP and MySQL. I need to be able to test a single web-application with multiple versions of PHP (5.2, 5.3, etc) and multiple versions of MySQL (5.0, 5.1, 5.5, etc). It shall be hosted on a FreeBSD server. My idea is to compile each version into a directory structure and running them on separate portnumbers. For example: opt/apache2.2-php5.2-mysql-5.0 (httpd on port 8801, mysql on port 8802) (directory contains each software, compiled and linked towards eachother) opt/apache2.2-php5.3-mysql-5.1 (httpd on port 8803, mysql on port 8804) (and so on) Any thoughts or suggestions of the best way to setup this type of environment?

• MySQL taking a long time to start

  I'm running Windows Server 2008 with MySQL installed and every time I reboot the server the MySQL Service doesn't start right away. A look into the Windows Eventlog shows that the MySQL Service was hung at startup. Looking at the Services.msc console shows the service state at Starting... Eventually, like 10 minutes, the MySQL Service actually finishes the startup process and the database becomes available for my Wordpress server... I looked at the MySQL .err files and didn't find anything that would indicate a delay in the statup process... Can anyone suggest a way to determine what is causing the delay, and more importantly, how to prevent the delay in the MySQL Startup?

• Multiple client connecting to master MySQL over SSL

  I successfully configured a MySQL replication over SSL between 2 servers accross the internet. Now I want a second server in the same location as the replication slave, to open a connection to the master db over ssl. I used the same command found here http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.1/en/secure-create-certs.html to generate a new set of client-cert.pem and client-key.pem with the same master db ca-cert/key.pem and I also used a different Common Name. When I try to initiate a connection between this new server and the master db, it fails : mysql -hmasterdb -utestssl -p --ssl-ca=/var/lib/mysql/newcerts/ca-cert.pem --ssl-cert=/var/lib/mysql/newcerts/client-cert.pem --ssl-key=/var/lib/mysql/newcerts/client-key.pem ERROR 2026 (HY000): SSL connection error It's working without SSL.

  I have just installed Snow Leopard and now my PHP/MySQL program ends in a "Segmentation fault". I have been searching the web for a solution, I realize that there are some issues with SL/PHP/MySQL, but I have not found anything that works yet. I downloaded the binary MySQL package mysql-5.1.42-osx10.6-x86_64. I have updated the php.ini file as suggested at various posts. When I run PHP and connect to the MySQL server the behavior is a bit random. In many cases it works fine to connect and read data. In my specific case the PHP program constructs a LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE ... statement to load data from a text file. It should do several such queries after each other in a loop. It works one time but the halts in a "Segmentation fault". The program worked fine in Leopard, but not now. My versions are: OS 10.6.2, PHP 5.3.0, MySQL 5.1.42

  THE SETUP I'm running Linux CentOS on an Amazon EC2 instance. The MySQL data files are on an EBS Drive mounted at /data/ ( symlink - /var/lib/mysql /data/mysql ). Everything works fine in this setup. THE PROBLEM I'm trying to move everything from this EBS drive to a new drive. I umounted the /data/ drive, and mounted it at /data2/. Then I mounted the new drive at /data/ and copied everything over to it from /data2/. Everything on the system works great, except MySQL. Every time I try to start the MySQL daemon ( /etc/init.d/mysqld start ) I get a MySQL Daemon failed to start error.

  Hi, I have been using the mysql command line client a lot before but I suddenly start getting this error when I try to launch it. mysql: relocation error: mysql: symbol strmov_overlapp, version libmysqlclient_16 not defined in file libmysqlclient.so.16 with link time reference The only significant event that comes into my mind is updating from Ubuntu 9.10 to 10.4. I'm not sure if there's anything else that I did to mess it up. I tried uninstalling both the mysql server and mysql client like so but to no avail. sudo aptitude purge mysql-server-5.1 Any help will be much appreciated, thanks.

  I have tried installing it as a service. Nothing seems to work! I have checked the status page and MySQL is listed as "Deactivated".   my server (CentOS) contains lots of website, which collect data from lots of sources with cron. the mysql config is the default recently, PHP failed to communicate with mysql. Firstly I just restart the server but after restarted, PHP still failed to communicate with mysql I've tried: ps ax | grep mysql Then run: kill -9 #### (I've also tried killall -9 ####) - this failed, ps ax | grep mysql showing the killed process id is still there service mysqld start (I've also tried /etc/init.d/mysqld start) - I got reply Timeout error occurred trying to start MySQL Daemon. when run top, mysqld_safe is appeared on top with about 50% of CPU usage.   Problem: I just set up a Debian Wheezy installation for testing, and installed the LAMP packages and PMA. I can log in as root with my pre-defined password, create/edit/delete both databases and users. The problem comes when I create a new user 'something', set a password for it, and grant it all privileges on a table 'something' (same as the username). Upon connecting, it denies access to the user. • Problem installing mysql gem on Snow Leopard: uninitialized constant MysqlCompat::MysqlRes

  Hi All I've got a problem trying to install the Ruby mysql gem driver. I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and did the Hivelogic manual install of MySQL. This all seems to work fine as I can access mysql from the command line and make changes to the database. My problem is that if I now use rake db:migrate I get: rake aborted! uninitialized constant MysqlCompat::MysqlRes (See full trace by running task with --trace) Now it appears that my mysql gem isn't working correctly as I can access MySQL fine from Python using the Python driver (which I compiled to). I therefore tried to rebuild the gem using the following command from this site: http://techliberty.blogspot.com/, (incidentally I am using a recent Intel MacBook Pro): sudo env ARCHFLAGS="-arch x86_64" gem install mysql -- --with-mysql-config=/usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql_config This compiles although I get No definition for the documentation: Building native extensions. This could take a while... Successfully installed mysql-2.8.1 1 gem installed Installing ri documentation for mysql-2.8.1... No definition for next_result No definition for field_name ... I'm a little stumped as my mysql_config is located in the correct place: /usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql_config And I have removed all other instances of the mysql gem, from my system. • Solaris MySQL Unable to start successfully

  Environment: Solaris 10 This mysql server has been up and running for 6 months now. Today all of a sudden it crashed. When typing 'mysql' as user it gives the error MYSQL" Error 2002 (HY000): Can't Connect to Local MySQL server though socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' when typing mysql as root it says mysql: not found.   Okay so im writing a SQL Server 2008 Stored Procedure (maintenance script). In doing so, being a good boy i've done plenty of error handling, checking rowcounts, printing output messages, etc But in doing this, ive found myself writing over and over again something like this: SELECT @RowsAffected = @@ROWCOUNT IF @RowsAffected > 0 BEGIN PRINT CAST(@RowsAffected, NVARCHAR(2)) + 'rows updated.' END Or debug messages like this: PRINT 'User ' + CAST(@UserId AS NVARCHAR(5)) + ' modified successfully' Is there a way i can create a kind of 'subroutine' inside the stored procedure (like a private method) that can accept something as a parameter (doesnt have to though) and do some logic? I want to be able to do something like this: CheckRowCounts Or this: PrintUserUpatedMessage(@UserId) Which would then perform the above logic (check rowcount, print message, etc) And yes obviously i can create a UDF, but then i would need to create/drop it etc as this logic is only required for the life of the execution of this stored procedure. Getting sick and tired of writing the same code over and over again, and changing all the different areas ive used it when i get an error =) Can anyone help?

  I want to run a procedure to force a row lock on a row, but I don't want to return a result set to the client, nor do I actually want to update anything.   Hey everyone, I had a couple of questions relating to the .NET Entity Framework and using stored procedures. Here goes: I know that we can right click a stored procedure and choose Function Import to be able to use with code. Is there a way to do this for many stored procedures at once? When doing a Function Import, I can create a new Complex type or use an existing Complex type. Well, how can I access Complex types/objects that are outside of the edmx file? That is, if I have a class in my project, is it possible to access it while doing a Function Import? When calling the stored procedure from code, it returns an IEnumerable of the Complex type I set it as. However, sometimes these complex types do not have all of the properties that I need, so I create a new class in my project that inherits from the complex type used in the stored procedure. Problem is, I can't seem to cast the complex type returned from the stored procedure to the new class I created. Any reason why I can't do this? What I ended up doing is looping through the IEnumerable and adding each item to a new list of the class that I created. But this feels and looks messy. Bara
