  • CSS3PIE issues in IE6 and 8

    I'm using CSS3PIE to apply some rounded corners to elements in Internet Explorer that will get them by stylesheet in other browsers. I've run into some issues with it though. In IE8, I discovered that any element that had the PIE behaviour would behave strangely. The container would jump a few pixels to the right, but the content would stay in its original position, giving the appearance that the content had all shifted left relative to its container. This would be especially problematic on elements with no or small amounts of padding. I was able to hack my way around the problem in IE8 by using X-UA-Compatible, but I'd rather avoid this solution if at all possible. I don't have access to IE9 for testing but my understanding hacks like PIE aren't necessary and it would be wasteful to force a compatibility mode in a browser that doesn't need it. I have worse issues in IE6, with the PIE layout breaking down completely on a list that is set up to use display:inline; zoom:1; list items (to simulate inline-block, which works in IE8 and the other browsers). Here the borders of the list items get rendered in completely the wrong place. So ideally, I'd like to have PIE work properly in IE6, and in IE8 without having to resort to compatibility mode. As far as IE6 goes, a graceful fallback where PIE is just not applied will do. IE7 is the only browser where the page displays as intended. I can't provide an example page just at the moment unfortunately, I can add one later though. Follow up: Here are some screen grabs made with IE Tester. I'm hoping they will make things a little more clear for everybody. As you can see, IE7 is fine. However, in IE8, the containers are offset to the left relative to their content, and in IE6 the list elements (with the rounded 1 pixel border) are a complete mess!     Ok before i make spaghetti of this code i thought id ask around here. ive made a quiz for an online site. What I want to do is to have a website with a simple search bar and allow people to type foo1 or just foo and finally return the gzipped file(s) and the explanation of the file(s).     I am working on a site which is full of inline css. Is there a tool to automatically refactor the pages so that inline css is moved to an external css file? Preferably doing this in a smart way where it doesn't create duplicate css declarations so if I have two inline css like style="left-padding; 12px", it creates one css class instead of two? Adobe Dreamweaver can do this manually one inline css at a time. I prefer a tool to do all the work in one shot.

    With the example below, I need to add padding and background-color properties to the text anchor. I then need to exclude padding and background-color from anchors that contain images. <p> <a href="#">this is a text link that needs to be styled</a> <a href="#"><img src="image/name.jpg" alt="this needs to be excluded from styling" /></a> </p> If I have a red background and padding on my text links, I do not want that same red background and padding to appear on my linked images. The images will always be in their own anchors, not mixed with text within the same anchor. The rub is that I can not add classes or IDs to the img tags - I do not have edit control of that data. So how can I add CSS attributes to all anchors, while excluding anchors that contain images?

However, the application is using the servers' external IP addresses in order to connect to them over SMTP, and I was wondering what kind of improvement would be obtained if the application used the internal IP addresses of the servers instead?     I apologize in advance, I am a PHP noob! I have form with some hidden fields. I need the values to POST to "submit_rma.php" so that they're not missing from the db--I need $qty, $estmate_id and $rma_type. The rest of the fields are just displaying data for the user and are readonly. Currently I only get value from the qty text field. Is there any easier way to pass these values?
