• Test azure application in dev fabric.

  Hi, I have a created a sample web role application using cloud service. Before hosting my application in cloud, i want to test the application in dev fabric. I am sure that when we run the application from VS, it creates an environment that simulates the cloud. But if i want to give my application for testing to QA, do i still need to give my source to them and run the application from VS under dev fabric or do we any other way in running my deployed package under dev fabric. In a line my question is, How do i run my packaged azure application under dev fabric before hosting in Cloud? Can anyone having an idea, please share me some information? Thanks, Kiran

• Groovy MarkupBuilder causing java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError on closure in soapUI

  I am not able to get the Groovy MarkupBuilder to work with soapUI. I am very new to Groovy and I am just following one of the user guides on creating XML. Testing a very simple method: public String Example(){ def writer = new StringWriter() def root = new MarkupBuilder(writer) root.mkp.xmlDeclaration(version:"1.0", encoding:"UTF-8") root.Root{ Example("A") } return writer.toString() } I get the following error in soapUI: ava.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: MockXML$_Example_closure2 I have no error when I run from Groovy Console. In the same class I have: public String Hello(){ return "Hello" } Which works fine in soapUI. Is there something I would need setup/imported/configured in soapUI that I am not thinking about to handle MarkupBuilder/closures? Thanks

• Gradle: Make a 3rd party jar available to local gradle repository

  Hi, currently, I'm testing Gradle as an alternative to Maven. In my projects, there are some 3rd party jars, which aren't available in any (Maven) repositories. My problem is now, how could I manage it to install these jars into my local .gradle repository. (If it's possible, I don't want to use the local Maven repository, because Gradle should run independently.) At the moment, I get a lot of exceptions because of missing jars. In Maven, it's quite simple by running the install command. However, my Google search for something similar to the Maven install command wasn't successful. Has anybody an idea? • How to recover gracefully from a C# udp socket exception

  Context: I'm porting a linux perl app to C#, the server listens on a udp port and maintains multiple concurrent dialogs with remote clients via a single udp socket. During testing, I send out high volumes of packets to the udp server, randomly restarting the clients to observe the server registering the new connections. The problem is this: when I kill a udp client, there may still be data on the server destined for that client. When the server tries to send this data, it gets an icmp "no service available" message back and consequently an exception occurs on the socket. I cannot reuse this socket, when I try to associate a C# async handler with the socket, it complains about the exception, so I have to close and reopen the udp socket on the server port. Is this the only way around this problem?, surely there's some way of "fixing" the udp socket, as technically, UDP sockets shouldn't be aware of the status of a remote socket? Any help or pointers would be much appreciated. Thanks.

  I have a bean that has a couple of beans injected with the autowire annotation (no qualifier). Now, for testing reasons I want to inject some mocks to the bean instead of the ones being autowired (some DAOs). Is there any way I can change which bean is being injected without modifying my bean? I don't like the idea of adding annotations my code just to test it and then remove then for production. I am using spring 2.5. As the teams are moving from ClearCase to TFS, what we are looking at is still being able to manage the requirements in RM and manage testing using CQ. The flow will be something like: Requirements are planned and detailed in RM Create work items in TFS connected to the Requirements in RM Create design and code using VS2010 and managing the version control in TFS Creating test plans and test cases in CQ (connected to requirements in RM) Run test against builds in TFS Publish test results in CQ against builds in TFS Run reports in RM, CQ and TFS that links up the items across the platforms. I have started looking at TFS Integration platform. But shall like to have your guidance for an early resolution and better solution approach.

• Need to upload binary to test in-app purchase?

  Opinion seems to be split on whether an app binary is required to be uploaded to iTunes Connect before a testing an in-app purchase. I've created the app (no binary uploaded yet), created the in-app purchase, enabled by App ID for in-app purchase and marked the purchase "available for sale". I've followed the instructions in the guide as far as I can tell. However, when I try it on my device I am unable to retrieve the products - SKProductRequest returns my request product as invalid. Any suggestions what I need to do? Does the in-app purchase product need to "Developer Approved" for this to work? Any definitive answer on whether a binary needs to be uploaded? I would like to avoid that if possible but am willing to do it if required.

  I am just testing an app to get data off our web server, previously I had been using: NSURL, NSURLRequest, NSURLConnection etc. to get the data that I wanted. But I have just noticed that if I swap to using XML I can simply do the following and pass the results to NSXMLParser: NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:@"https://www.fuzzygoat.com/turbine?nbytes=1&fmt=xml"]; Am I right in thinking that if your just after XML this is an acceptable method? It just seems strongly short compared to what I was doing before? gary

This is how I encrypt the file: gpg --symmetric File.txt This gives me a new, encrypted file: File.txt.gpg If someone else now modifies the encrypted file, I'm no longer able to decrypt it. $ gpg --decrypt File.txt.gpg gpg: no valid OpenPGP data found. gpg: decrypt_message failed: eof How can I get the content of my file, even though someone has modified it?

• Uploadify refuses to upload WMV, FLV and MP4 files

  The uploadify plugin for JQuery seems very good and works for most file types. However, it allows me to upload all file types apart from the ones I need! Namely .WMV, .FLV and .MP4 I have googled the issue and not found anyonw having such difficulties. I have already tried changing the fileExt parameter and also tried removing it altogether. I have testing in Google Chrome, IE7 and Firefox and none work for thes efile types. Is there a known reason for this behaviour?

• Google search result redirecting to tinyurl4.info

  When you google for these keywords: crtaci.info First result is my site, www.crtaci.info. Now, i have no idea what is happening, but when you click on that search result sometimes it redirects you to tinyurl4.info: I know in this image user is using IE, but both me on win7 and firefox and IE8 and my buddy on linux(and some browsers i have never heard of) both tested this and we got redirected to this site. But only once. Now when i do that again, it opens up my site. What the hell is going on? Please advise what to do! :( Maybe i should open this on serverfoult, i dont know... :( UPDATE: This only seems to be happening when you do this for the first time in your browser. Next time you do it it is ok. I have opened up chrome, which i only use for testing and did these steps: open google.com search for crtaci.info click on first result i get redirected open google.com again search for crtaci.info again it works fine now

• IE browser problems occurring with Javascript Movable Type SignIn widget!

  i am using movable type 4.23 (publishing system) and have been testing my site on a PC and discovered that internet explorer (IE) browsers are unable to view my site due to a conflict in the javascript of the signin widget (initially i thought it was in the mt.js file). i receive this error: "Error 80004004"...as well as in the Javascript itself: "Element is not an object" (or object is not an element?)... function mtUpdateSignInWidget(u) { var el = document.getElementById('signin-widget-content'); if i put in "id" where 'sign-widget-content' goes, it will say its not an object. all other browsers work perfectly (firefox, safari and opera on my mac and firefox on pc). if anyone wants a link to the test page, i can provide that... someone please help! thanks.

• ASP.NET MVC TDD with LINQ and SQL database

  I am trying to start a new MVC project with tests and I thought the best way to go would have 2 databases. 1 for testing against and 1 for when I run the app and use it (also test really as it's not production yet). For the test database I was thinking of putting create table scripts and fill data scripts within the test setup method and then deleting all this in the tear down method. I am going to be using Linq to SQL though and I don't think that will allow me to do this? Will I have to just go the ADO route if I want to do it this way? Or should I just use a mock object and store data as an array or something?. Any tips on best practices? How did Jeff go about doing this for StackOveflow?

You know, things like this: use database_foo create view spaghetti as select f.col1, c.col2 from fusilli f inner join database_bar.dbo.conchigli c on f.id = c.id (I know that cross-database views are not very good practice, but lets just say you're stuck with it) Are there any good techniques to avoid 'hard coding' the database names? (So that should you need to occasionally re-point to a different database - for testing perhaps - you don't need to edit loads of views, fns, sps) I'm interested in SQL 2005 or SQL 2008 solutions. • In CAB is a service it's own module?

  I'm learning Composite Application Block and I've hit a rock about services. I have my shell application in its own solution, and of course a test module in its own solution (developed and testing completely independent and external of the shell solution). If I created a service named "Sql Service", would I need to put this in it's own library, so that both the shell, and the module know the types? If that's the case, then for good practice, should I put the service project in the shell solution, or external just like a module (in it's own solution), even though it's not loaded as a module? Then, what about references? Should the shell reference this directly, add then add the service? Or load it as a module and add the service? I have a lot of confusion on where I should create my services, and if I should reference or load as modules..

• Python: Why is IDLE so slow?

  Hi, IDLE is my favorite Python editor. It offers very nice and intuitive Python shell which is extremely useful for unit-testing and debugging, and a neat debugger. However, code executed under IDLE is insanely slow. By insanely I mean 3 orders of magnitude slow: bash time echo "for i in range(10000): print 'x'," | python Takes 0.052s, IDLE import datetime start=datetime.datetime.now() for i in range(10000): print 'x', end=datetime.datetime.now() print end-start Takes: >>> 0:01:44.853951 Which is roughly 2,000 times slower. • OAuth iPhone client, problems with HTTP_AUTHORIZATION

  Hi, I've been trying to implement OAuth in my iPhone app. However I have hit a problem. I have two servers, a local web server which is on my machine at home, I use this for testing. The machine is IIS 7 running PHP 5.08. Everything works fine on this server. However my live (web server) is running Apache and PHP 5.12. The problem is when I try to request a RequestToken the HTTP_AUTHORIZATION variable isn't posted to the web server, so I get an error returned from the server saying 'Invaild Consumer Key'. There is clearly a problem with the way the server is setup (as the code works on my local server). The code I am using is from this walkthrough http://code.google.com/p/oauthconsumer/wiki/UsingOAuthConsumer I have tried dumping the PHP headers and indeed HTTP_AUTHORIZATION is missing. Can anyone tell me how to fix this? (as it's driving me mad :)) Thanks Rich

  I added the authlogic_facebook_connect plugin to my project and I'm now having problem running my cucumber test because of a NoMethodError. undefined method `set_facebook_session' for nil:NilClass (NoMethodError) In authlogic_facebook_connect/Session.rb the method "authenticating_with_facebook_connect?" is called as some sort of callback and the controller is defined but is missing the 'set_facebook_session' method. def authenticating_with_facebook_connect? controller.set_facebook_session attempted_record.nil? && errors.empty? && controller.facebook_session end I don't understand why the cucumber test is not loading the controller with this method.   Hello All Python Pro's , I'm using mamp server for testing out all my web pages. I'm new to python. I'm able to run a script in python interpreter that will normally print a hello world. print "Hello World!" So i used the same line in a file with name test.py . So how should I run this on web. As am new to python, i tried some normal things, placing test.py in /htdocs/cgi-bin/ and trying to open it. But it says forbidden page. Anyone please help me making this work. Thanks

Here's an example (I'm using Kohana framework btw): class Test_Core { public $var1 = "lots of testing"; public function output() { $print_out = $this->var1; echo $print_out; } } I try to use the following to call it, but it returns $var1 as undefined: Test::output() However, this works fine: $test = new Test(); $test->output(); I generally use this style of calling objects as opposed to the "new Class" style, but I can't figure out why it doesn't want to work.
