• how to use Remote Service ?

  Hi im trying to use Remote Service btween two simple application, But its not easy to me. So any advice you have will help me. here`s my case. I made one app which is playing Music in service, There are two components. one is Activity controlling service by using three buttons, play,pause, stop. and it is working fine. and another one is just simple Activity which also has four buttons bind,play,stop,unbind. when i click bind, it`s confirmed by Toast msg, but when i click play button,it occurs error. i want to control first activitys Music playing service in second Activity. So im trying to use remote service. i made same .aidl file in each app project. In aidl file, i defined methods "playing","stoping" and i implement those methods in Music service class, implementation is simply use intent and startService & stopService. In DDMS there is "java.lang.SecurityException : Binder invocation to an incorrect interface" thats the case what im doing. So please tell me what`s the problem. any advice could help me. thanks Gun.

• server caching problem on ASP.NET MVC page

  Hi I have server caching error on ASP.NET MVC Pages. The scenario is like this. I have two applications (1).External Website and (2).Internal Adminsite, both pointing to the same Database. There is one page called EditProfile Page on the External Website that registered customer can update his profile information like Firstname, Lastname and Address…etc. Similarly there is similar functionality on the Internal Adminsite on the page called CustomerProfile Page where the Site Admin can update all these fields. When the user updates the profile information from the Adminsite, those updates are not reflecting back to the Website. Now I tried restarting the Website on IIS and that din’t help. Again I tried both restarting the Website on IIS and opening a new browser, then those updates are reflecting back. I am wondering how I can come out of this caching problem without restarting the site and open a new browser window everytime? Are there any IIS settings that could help? This caching is happening only on couple of tables only and all the updates are showing up in the database. Appreciate your responses. Thanks

  I'm working on a project at the moment where it would be really useful to be able to detect when a certain topic/idea is mentioned in a body of text. For instance, if the text contained: Maybe if you tell me a little more about who Mr Balzac is, that would help. It would also be useful if I could have a description of his appearance, or even better a photograph? It'd be great to be able to detect that the person has asked for a photograph of Mr Balzac. I could take a really naïve approach and just look for the word "photo" or "photograph", but this would obviously be no good if they wrote something like: Please, never send me a photo of Mr Balzac. Does anyone know where to start with this? Is it even possible? I've looked into things like nltk, but I've yet to find an example of someone doing something similar and am still not entirely sure what this kind of analysis is called. • Finding Common Phrases in MS SQL TEXT Column

  Hello All, Short Desc: I'm curious to see if I can use SQL Analysis services or some other MS SQL service to mine some data for me that will show commonalities between SQL TEXT fields in a dataset. Long Desc I am looking at a subset of data that consists of about 10,000 rows of TEXT blobs which are used as a notes column in a issue tracking (ticketing) software. I would like to use something out of the box (without having to build something) that might be able to parse through all of the rows and find commonly used byte sequences in the "Notes" column. In other words, I want to find commonly used phrases (two to three word phrases, so 9 - 20 character sections of the TEXT blob). This will help me better determine if associate's notes contain similar phrases (troubleshooting techniques) that we could standardize in our troubleshooting process flow. Closing Note I'd really rather not build an application to do this as my method will probably not be the most efficient way to do it. Hopefully all this makes sense.   Tooday I use ServiceHost for self hosting WCF cervices. I want to host near to my WCF services my own TCP programm for direct sockets operations (like lien to some sort of broadcasting TCP stream) I need control over namespaces (so I would be able to let my clients to send TCP streams directly into my service using some nice URLs like example.com:port/myserver/stream?id=1 or example.com:port/myserver/stream?id=anything and so that I will not be bothered with Idea of 1 client for 1 socket at one time moment, I realy want to keep my WCF services on the same port as my own server or what it is so to be able to call www.example.com:port/myWCF/stream?id=222...) Can any body please help me with this? I am using just WCF now. And I do not enjoy how it works. That is one of many resons why I want to start migration to clear TCP=) I can not use net-tcp binding or any sort of other cool WS-* binding (tooday I use the simpliest one so that my clients like Flash, AJAX, etc connect to me with ease). I needed Fast and easy in implemrnting connection protocol like one I created fore use with Sockets for real time hi ammount of data transfering. So.. Any Ideas? Please - I need help.

  I am trying to find a way to export data from my database and save it as a .csv file. Ideally the user will be able to select a date range on a view, which will display the data to be exported, then the user can click an "export to CSV" link. • How to make UISlider output nice rounded numbers exponentially?

  Hi I am implementing a UISlider a user can manipulate to set a distance. I have never used the CocoaTouch UISlider, but have used other frameworks sliders, usually there is a variable for setting the "step" and other "helper" properties. The documentation for the UISlider deals only with a max and min value, and the output is always a 6 decimal float with a linear relation to the position of the "slider nob". I guess I will have to implement the desired functionality step by step. To the user, the min/max values range from 10 m to 999 Km, I am trying to implement this in an exponential way, that will feel natural to the user. I.e. the user experiences a feeling of control over the values, big or small. Also that the "output" has reasonable values. Values like 10m 200m 2.5km 150 km etc. instead of 1.2342356 m or 108.93837756 km. I would like for the step size to increase by 10m for the first 200m, then maybe by 50m up to 500m, then when passing the 1000 m value, it starts to deal with Kilometers, so then it is step size = 1 km up until 50 km, then maybe 25 km steps etc. Any way I go about this I end up doing a lot of rounding and a lot of calculations wrapped in a forrest of if statements and NSString/Number conversions, each time the user moves the slider just a little. I was hoping someone could lend me a bit of inspiration/math help or make me aware of a more lean approach to solving this problem. My last idea is to populate and array with a 100 string values, then have the slider int value correspond to a string, this is not very flexible, but doable. • Why won't my styles show in a Dynamics CRM 4 IFRAME?

  I have created a web page (ASP.NET) that includes a stylesheet to mimic Dynamics CRM styles. This is to be used in a CRM IFRAME (within a form). The stylesheet is referenced as follows: <head id="Head1" runat="server"> <link href="Styles.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> </head> When I load the page in Visual Studio, all is well. When I load it in CRM, none of the styles are shown and no images are displayed. If I browse directly to the image, I get a 404 error. However, the pages function correctly. I have set read permissions for "Everyone" on the server to see if that was causing a problem but it didn't help. I also tried putting a plain HTML page in the folder and that won't load either - again a 404. The page is installed in the ISV folder ..../isv/MyProject. Can anyone help? EDIT This is on a multi-tenancy system. On my test company (testcompany) if I browse to http://crm/testcompany/isv/MyProject/MyPage.aspx, the page is loaded (without styles and images). If I browse to http://crm/testcompany/isv/MyProject/TestImage.gif, the image is not shown. If I browse to http://crm/isv/MyProject/TestImage.gif, the image is shown. Does this suggest a problem with the server setup and the way CRM messes around with virtual directories?

• My perl script is acting funny...

  I am trying to make a jabber bot from scratch and my script is acting funny. I was originally developing the bot on a remote CentOS box, but I have switched to a local Win7 machine. Right now I'm using ActiveState Perl and I'm using Eclipse with the perl plugin to run a debug the script. The funny behavior I'm experiencing occurs when I run or debug the script. If I run the script using the debugger it works fine, meaning I can send messages to the bot and it can send messages to me. However when I just execute the script normally the bot sends the successful connection message then it disconnects from my jabber server and the script ends. I'm a novice when it comes to perl and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. My guess is it has something to do with the subroutines and sending the presence of the bot. (I know for sure that it has something to do with sending the bot's presence because if the presence code is removed, the script behaves as expected except the bot doesn't appear to be online.) If anyone can help me with this that would be great. • Drupal Views api, add simple argument handler

  Background: I have a complex search form that stores the query and it's hash in a cache. Once the cache is set, I redirect to something like /searchresults/e6c86fadc7e4b7a2d068932efc9cc358 where that big long string on the end is the md5 hash of my query. I need to make a new argument for views to know what the hash is good for. The reason for all this hastle is because my original search form is way to complex and has way to many arguments to consider putting them all into the path and expecting to do the filtering with the normal views arguments. Now for my question. I have been reading views 2 documentation but not figuring out how to accomplish this custom argument. It doesn't seem to me like this should be as hard as it seems to me like it must be. Leaving aside any knowledge of the veiws api, it would seem that all I need is a callback function that will take the argument from the path as it's only argument and return a list of node id's to filter to. Can anyone point me to a solution or give me some example code? Thanks for your help! You guys are great. PS. I am pretty sure that my design is the best I can come up with, lets don't get off my question and into cross checking my design logic if we can help it.

• How to load JPG file into NSBitmapImageRep?

  Objective-C / Cocoa: I need to load the image from a JPG file into a two dimensional array so that I can access each pixel. I am trying (unsuccessfully) to load the image into a NSBitmapImageRep. I have tried several variations on the following two lines of code: NSString *filePath = [NSString stringWithFormat: @"%@%@",@"/Users/adam/Documents/phoneimages/", [outLabel stringValue]]; //this coming from a window control NSImageRep *controlBitmap = [[NSImageRep alloc] imageRepWithContentsOfFile:filePath]; With the code shown, I get a runtime error: -[NSImageRep imageRepWithContentsOfFile:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x100147070. I have tried replacing the second line of code with: NSImage *controlImage = [[NSImage alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:filePath]; NSBitmapImageRep *controlBitmap = [[NSBitmapImageRep alloc] initWithData:controlImage]; But this yields a compiler error 'incompatible type' saying that initWithData wants a NSData variable not an NSImage. I have also tried various other ways to get this done, but all are unsuccessful either due to compiler or runtime error. Can someone help me with this? I will eventually need to load some PNG files in the same way (so it would be nice to have a consistent technique for both). And if you know of an easier / simpler way to accomplish what I am trying to do (i.e., get the images into a two-dimensional array), rather than using NSBitmapImageRep, then please let me know! And by the way, I know the path is valid (confirmed with fileExistsAtPath) -- and the filename in outLabel is a file with .jpg extension. Thanks for any help!

I've been using a manual table with Adobe Dreamweaver cs4 as a test, but I have to put the class of "alternatecolors" in order to make them appear, and I can't do this normally.: Question is , can someone provide me a good Javascript that I would put in the header of the file, and actually help me out to make this work ? I think I'm burned...or maybe I can't see what others see quickly due to the amount of time I've spent. I just tried posting the code of my table here, but I couldn't get it well formatted and I got to run... I'm not using an 'id' on this table, but the class is 'mytable'. • How do set up jquery to exclude classes in a function?

  I essentially only understand how to read bits of javascript and make modifications. I am using grid-slider, a script I purchased, but the code writer is mia at the moment, so hopefully someone here can help me. Basically, it's a slider and there are options to have links open like normal or to have links open in a panel on the same page. I want some links to open in a panel and others to open in the parent window. It seems to me that all that would be required to do this would be to activate the panel display function (which I've done) and then set up an exclude function to exclude certain uls or lis with a specific class from the function. Overwrite the development web files with the published local web files Should be simple for all those MSBUILD Gurus out there. Like I said, answers or 'Good and applicable' links would be much appreciated. Also i'm thinking of getting one of the MSbuild books. From what I can tell there are 2, possibly 3 contenders. • Chord Chart - Skip to key with a click

  I have a chord chart app that basically can transpose a chord chart up and down throughout the keys, but now I would like to expand that app and allow someone to pick a key and automatically go to that key upon a click event using a function in javascript or jquery. Can someone help me figure this out? The logic seems simple enough, but I'm just not sure how to implement it.   I’ve built a webform in Visual Web Developer Express 2008 to help me with my work. I use a webform to run query requests that are emailed to me.   I'm having some difficulties in prolog, I'm trying to write a predicate that will return all paths between two cities, although at the moment it returns the first path it finds on an infinite loop. Not sure where I'm going wrong but I've been trying to figure this out all day and I'm getting nowhere. • What MS technology to use for HTTP service returning XML?

  I need to create a service that: accepts HTTP requests (with query string or HTTP POST parameters) does some processing on the requests (checking if the request is valid, authentication etc.) reads data from a custom store (another HTTP call in our case) returns the result as custom XML (defined with XSD) I'm trying to think of various MS technologies that could help me and how good they would be for this scenario (pretty standard one I guess). The tasks above are relatively separate, this is what comes to mind: HTTP front-end: ASP.NET Web Forms ASP.NET MVC (seems more appropriate here as I won't need server controls, view state etc.) WCF? Don't know much about it or how well it would suit my task. Custom logic on the server: this will probably be a generic C# code in all cases (sometimes "plugged into" or called from MVC controllers or some equivalent place in other technologies) Reading data from internal data stores: As said, this is another HTTP server in our case. Options that come to mind: Just read the data using something like WebClient (Just theoretically) implement a LINQ provider (Just even more theoretically) implement an EF provider Output the data as custom XML: Linq2XML Serialization? Is it flexible enough? Does WCF provide some tools for this? Some "OXM" - Object/XML mapper if there is something like that for .NET I may be wrong in many of my assumptions, this is just a quick list that comes to mind after a quick research. Some general notes / questions: Testing is important Solution with a clear domain model would be much preferred over the one without Can Entity Framework actually help somewhere in my scenario? If so, where and how? Would WCF be an appropriate technology for this? I don't know much about it.
