  • Generate table schema inspecting Excel(CSV) and import data

    - by Frank Malina
    How would I go around creating a MYSQL table schema inspecting an Excel(or CSV) file. Are there any ready Python libraries for the task? Column headers would be sanitized to column names. Datatype would be estimated based on the contents of the spreadsheet column. When done, data would be loaded to the table. I have an Excel file of ~200 columns that I want to start normalizing.

  • sql query returns incorrect result

    - by reza saberi
    I have a mysql database that stores quotation documents with some products that are clearly defining the price of each product in them, and a table for contracts storing contract details as well as customer code and quotation code to which it belongs. I have the following query to see how much is the total price of the quotation to write it in the invoice: select sum(sqproducts.price * sqproducts.quantity) as 'total-price', squotations.currency as 'currency' from sqproducts, ccontracts, squotations where sqproducts.contracted=1 AND squotations.code=sqproducts.quotation_code AND sqproducts.quotation_code=ccontracts.squotation_code AND sqproducts.quotation_code='QUOT/2012/1' group by currency

  • Different values for Time.now when using activerecord

    - by Josué Lima
    I have this weird situation: When I do on rails console Time.now or Time.zone.now I get the same values (suppose they run at the sime time: 2014-06-05 23:38:06 -0300) But when I use Time.now in a query like: Match.where("datetime = ?", Time.now) it returns the time 3 hours ahead! .to_sql output: SELECT `matches`.* FROM `matches` WHERE (datetime = '2014-06-06 02:38:06') any thoughts on that? • Effective way to calculate a similarity percentage between data sets

    - by UltraVi01
    I am currently working with User objects -- each of which have many Goal objects. The Goal objects are not User specific, that is, Users can share the same Goal. I am attempting to fashion a way to calculate a "similarity percentage" between two Users... (i.e., taking into account how many Goals they share as well as how many Goals they do not share) Does anyone have experience with this type of situation? I am using Grails with Mysql if that is helpful. Thanks

  • Export DB Tables via phpMyAdmin In Non-Alphabetical Order

    - by dosboy
    I have a MySQL database from a Joomla MultiSite installation where it has a set of tables with different prefixes for each Joomla site. When I export the db via phpMyAdmin it creates a SQL file where the tables are created and populated in alphabetical order. The problem is that the tables for the slave sites have dependencies on the tables for the master site, but alphabetically their prefixes are ahead of the master site. So the export works fine but when I try importing I get error after error and have to manually move sections around in the SQL file to make sure that the dependent tables are created/populated first. So, is it possible to export a db via phpMyAdmin with the tables in a specific order?

  • How to create a database binding using Windows Builder Pro?

    - by Tiago
    For the first time, I'm creating a Java Swing application. I'm using Windows Builder Pro in Eclipse, and a MySQL database (already setup up). Let's say I have a combo box, and I want (for instance) all 'name' fields from a 'certain' table appear. How can I setup that binding? I know how to programatically handle the connection and query code, what I would like to know is how to make that binding in Eclipse.

  • Transmogrify into date from multiple columns

    - by Dave Jarvis
    What is a better way to program the following SQL: str_to_date( concat(convert(D.DAY, CHAR(2)), '-', convert(M.MONTH, CHAR(2)), '-', convert(M.YEAR, CHAR(4))), '%e-%m-%Y' ) as AMOUNT_DATE I want to convert the columns D.DAY, M.MONTH, and M.YEAR to a date field using MySQL. The above works, but seems much more complicated than it needs to be. (If there's an ANSI SQL way to do it, that would be even better.) Thank you!

  • WHERE vs HAVING

    - by baloo
    Why is it that you need to place columns you create yourself (for example "select 1 as number") after HAVING and not WHERE in MySQL? And are there any downsides instead of doing "WHERE 1" (writing the whole definition instead of a column name)

  • Should $new_link be used in mysql_connect()?

    - by Eddie
    I'm maintaining an inherited site built on Drupal. We are currently experiencing "too many connections" to the database. In the /includes/database.mysql.inc file, @mysql_connect($url['host'], $url['user'], $url['pass'], TRUE, 2) (mysql_connect() documentation) is used to connect to the database. Should $new_link = TRUE be used? My understanding is that it will "always open a new link." Could this be causing the "too many connections"?

  • Cannot add or update a child row: a foreign key constraint fails

    - by myaccount
    // Getting the id of the restaurant to which we are uploading the pictures $restaurant_id = intval($_GET['restaurant-id']); if(isset($_POST['submit'])) { $tmp_files = $_FILES['rest_pics']['tmp_name']; $target_files = $_FILES['rest_pics']['name']; $tmp_target = array_combine($tmp_files, $target_files); $upload_dir = $rest_pics_path; foreach($tmp_target as $tmp_file => $target_file) { if(move_uploaded_file($tmp_file, $upload_dir."/".$target_file)) { $sql = sprintf(" INSERT INTO rest_pics (branch_id, pic_name) VALUES ('%s', '%s')" , mysql_real_escape_string($restaurant_id) , mysql_real_escape_string(basename($target_file))); $result = mysql_query($sql) or die(mysql_error()); } I get the next error: Cannot add or update a child row: a foreign key constraint fails (rest_v2.rest_pics, CONSTRAINT rest_pics_ibfk_1 FOREIGN KEY (branch_id) REFERENCES rest_branches (branch_id) ON DELETE CASCADE ON UPDATE CASCADE However, this error totally disappears and everything goes well when I put directly the restaurant id (14 for example) instead of $restaurant_id variable in the sql query. The URL am getting the id from is: http://localhost/rest_v2/public_html/admin/add-delete-pics.php?restaurant-id=2 Any help please?

  • Whats the best way to design this database scenario?

    - by ankimal
    I want to setup 2 MySQL databases which differ in schema in that, one is normalized and the other is flat for quicker reads and writes. The information being stored in both DBs is the same, but the representation is obviously different owing to the different design approaches. I need to find a robust solution to sync information in real time from my normalized version to my flatter version.
