  • Learn Silverlight or WPF first?

    It seems that Silverlight/WPF are the long term future for user interface development with .NET. This is great because as I can see the advantage of reusing XAML skills on both the client and web development sides. But looking at WPF/XAML/Silverlight they seem very large technologies and so where is the best place to get start? I would like to hear from anyone who has good knowledge of both and can recommend which is a better starting point and why.

    I've always been fascinated by microcontrollers and I'm planning to do a few hobby projects just to satisfy my inner geek :) I'm looking for ideas and motivation, so what did you develop using a microcontroller? If possible please state the microcontroller and/or development environment and an estimate on hardware costs beyond the basic equipment (if applicable).     I have a non-disposable class with Open/Close syntax that I'd like to be able to use, so I'm trying to inherit from it, and work the Open into the new and the Close into Dispose. The second part is ok, but I can't work out how to do the Open: type DisposableOpenCloseClass(openargs) = inherit OpenCloseClass() //do this.Open(openargs) <-- compiler no like interface IDisposable with member this.Dispose() = this.Close() (cf. this question which I asked a long time ago, but I can't join the dots to this one)

    Hello everybody! I use "file-roller" to manage with archieves on my Ubuntu. But it fails on running without user interface(just teminal). The error is shown below. ** (file-roller:5453): CRITICAL **: Failed to parse arguments: Cannot open display: How can I prevent file-roller from using GUI or can you recommend me any other archieve manager I can use from terminal. It would be perfect, if this manager can handle as much formats as it is possible.

  • Accessing PCI Device from user space programs

    I have a device which would be interface with my processor through pcie. I have written driver for it using the existing pci file operations. Now my problem is how do I access it from user space programs? PCI File operations do not have IOCTL support and hence I cant make an ioctl call unlike other char devices. I cannot use pci_config_read_byte etc. functions as they are meant for kernel space(included in linux/pci.h).

    I would like to define a type implementing a certain interface, however I would only implement it in a proxy at runtime. I can see two obstacles in this scenario : 1-Make the compiler ignore non implemented interfaces. 2-Make the CLR ignore(or at least delay) the TypeLoadException with the following description : "Method SOMEMETHOD in type SOMETYPE from assembly SOMEASSEMBLY does not have an implementation." Is something like this possible?

  • What's the best way to skin my iPhone app (similar to how the Notes app is skinned)?

    If you look at the Notes app on the iPad, you can see it uses all native iPhone controls, but they're "skinned" to look like a pad of paper. What's the best way to implement something similar to that? Could I use interface builder and simply change the background image for each of the controls, including the TableViews?     Hi Is there a simple way of tracking the change of an Mdi's children i.e. when they are created and closed, something like an event OnMdiChildListChanged (I realise this doesn't actually exist). I am also aware that I could have a method within my Mdi that handles the creation of child forms and logs the state of them or even create an Interface that defines that a child form has a "NotifyParent" method that is then called on close of the form, but i was wondering if there was any built in events that i could plumb into?   • Seam EJB3 in an EAR is it usable by another App?

    Seam 2.1 and JBoss 4.2.2 I have set up the first App to have the EJB in the EAR with a local interface. the 2nd app can look up JDNI name "ear-name/ejbname/local" but fails with "NoClassDefFound". Does the EJB .jar need to be outside of the EAR? Is this a classloader visibility issue or Is this a JBoss version issue? or something else? Thank you for your thoughts..

So, i have one Question regarding the application approval on Appstore that, if i will redirect user to the UIwebview for payment related functionality, then apple will reject this application for not following the human interface guideline or it will allow this. Other way i can do it by calling web-service for the transaction of money. So, again there is any chance of app rejection on AppStore. Please share your thought on this
