• What is the most robust way of determining the current codepage from a shell script?

  Hi all, I'd like to determine the environment's current codepage at runtime from a Unix shell script. What's the most reliable way of doing this? I'm looking into parsing environment variable $LC_ALL, but it isn't always set to a useful value, and its format seems to vary (can be <locale, or <locale.<code page, or <locale.<code page@<modifier etc...). Is there a better way? I'm essentially after a shell equivalent of what I'd get if I called nl_langinfo(CODESET) from C.

  i have a properties file (under rsources folder) in which i'm stocking a variable (key=value), i need to update it when a user insert a new value or update the older one , so can i do it ? i have doubts because it's a web application so it' simply a war deployed in the server so how it is possible to access the .properties file and change it directly from the code . if it's not possible is there another solution ?   Let's say I have a thread pool containing X items, and a given task employs Y of these items (where Y is much smaller than X). I want to wait for all of the threads of a given task (Y items) to finish, not the entire thread pool. If the thread pool's execute() method returned a reference to the employed thread I could simply join() to each of these Y threads, but it doesn't. Does anyone know of an elegant way to accomplish this? Thanks.

  Hi, In C++, there is a fwrite() which writes a buffer to a file on disk: http://www.cplusplus.com/reference/clibrary/cstdio/fwrite/ Can you please tell me if there is any buffer inside that fwrite implementation? i.e. if I call fwrite() multiple times (say 10 times), does it actually invoke file i/o 10 different times?
