Hello everyone,
I have a little problem picking the right language to write my daemon,
I am confused between C and C++, I want to use C++ because it is more expanded than C,
but I want to use C because it is the starting point of everything in linux,
I want to go for C++ as I have many resources about it, so, does it make any difference if I pick C++ instead of C?
and what I will have good if I learn C more?
I feel like if I go into C++ I will cover C within C++...
Regards
I have a problem with "pairing" arrays into one (by index). Here is an example:
INPUT:
inputArray = [ [0, 1, 2, 3, 4], [2, 3, 5, 7, 8], [9, 6, 1] ]
OUTPUT:
outputArray = [
[0,2,9],
[1,3,6],
[2,5,1],
[3,7,chooseRandom()],
[4,8,chooseRandom()]]
Questions:
1) How to avoid out of range problem
2) How to write chooseRandom() to choose N neighbour
I'm using python but feel free to share your thoughts in any language.
I have a query:
SELECT Content.content_name, Language2.Name, Language2.language_id,
Content.id, Content.content_description,
FROM Language AS Language2
LEFT JOIN contents AS Content ON (Language2.language_id = Content.language_id)
How do I select only the distinct content_name?
I know that the Apple community – including Mac and iPhone developers – mainly use Objective-C for their development language. But it seems that not many people use Objective-C outside of the Apple community, such as in the Windows or Linux worlds.
What are the possible reasons that Objective-C is not particularly popular outside of the Apple community?
Hi.
In my app, the user is supposed to insert a phone number, which is then displayed somewhere else.
In the contacts application, when displaying a phone number, it automatically appears in the format of the language selected by the user.
Is there a way to do this automatically, or a way to detect the region and then adapt the displayed string?
I don't want anything incredibly complicated. I am working on a client outside the US, and I just want a basic check to see if someone is accessing his page from the US or not. After that, I am going to default the language in either English or Spanish, after determining where the visitor is from.
Thanks.
Is there any way to implement globbing in git checkout? It would be great to be able to use
git checkout re*
or even to have tab completion in the shell. I'm using zsh, but an answer that is shell independent would be great.
Note: I realize that this is kind of a pipe dream, so... if I needed to implement this myself, must it be done in the shell language itself, or could it be done in, say, Ruby?
I came upon a comment on another forum today and one user responding to another suggested that a CS degree is really only good for one through two years at the most, and after that its as if you never had it. Is this really true? is this what employers think?
When I did CS I never learned anything new, we learned fundamentals like data structures, algorithms, time complexity, OS fundamentals, language characteristics. Most of this stuff has been around for the past 20 years or so.
here we got a positional parameter:
SELECT
u
FROM ForumUser u
WHERE u.id = ?1
and here a named parameter:
SELECT
u
FROM ForumUser u
WHERE u.username = :name
this is DQL (doctrine query language) but i think the concept is the same.
could someone please explain what these mean and do?
I start to learn class in PHP. According to my experience with other language, i can tell class is different then function. So, how we spot if our class start to be too much and too important and how we minimize its impact ?
Which is the best programming language to use for creating a screensaver?
I am thinking of creating a screensaver to showcase projects i have done before for self satisfaction.
How should i go about it?

Hi there. Does anyone have any recommendations for a class (online) or tutorial that teaches android programing for dummies? It's frustrating knowing exactly what you want to do and no idea how to do it. Something that uses basic language and explains each line in detail to help a person remember how to do it later. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.
I want to create a C# app which rests in the system tray.
However, I would like this application to overlay certain graphic elements / drawing on top of the screen above all windows at certain times.
So, for example, while my application is running, even though minimized to the tray, it will draw certain shapes on top of the screen regardless of what is there.
Is this possible using C#? If not, is there any other language that would have this capability?
Hi,
Can we convert numbers to their alphabetical equivalents? For example

Hi, how can change only the last letter of any word of a string with regular expressions?
I use mb_strtolower() for change strings from upper to lower in Greek language and I have problem with final 's'.
Actually what I want - simple DB with simple User Interface. Like MS Access, but for web and it can be without Dragn n Drop, but described with markup language.
For example if I want to create list report, then i need to write something like:
<table query="SELECT * from mytable"></table>
It needed for simple data applications. In that kind application no programming logic required. Just working with DB. Changing DB data and showing it.
