    If I type '<%# vs <%"' into any of the major search engines, everything is stripped out except the 'vs'. I understand why they do this. I would just like to know if anyone knows of a way to escape illegal characters so that they are searched properly. I know this is not strictly a programming question, but it is relevant.

    One of the data structures in my current project requires that I store lists of various types (String, int, float, etc.). I need to be able to dynamically store any number of lists without knowing what types they'll be. I tried storing each list as an object, but I ran into problems trying to cast back into the appropriate type (it kept recognizing everything as a List<String>). Is there some wierd and wacky work around? Is there a way to get a Class<T reference other than from a pre-instantiated Object of type T?   • Get a property value with only the object and the name of the property (but not the type)

    Suppose I have a method that passes in the name of a property (as a string) and the object that the property is on (as object). How could I get the value of the property?   • My dropdownlist is not selecting an item as expected (MVC 1)

    OK so I have 2 pages where this kind of behaviour is implemented. It works on one but doesn't work in another and I have no idea why. Despite the data containing a list of selectitems and one of them is selected the dropdown list is not displaying this selection (ie. it resets to the blank item). I don't know how to further debug this. In my page: <%= Html.DropDownList("CampusId", ViewData.Model.Campuses, new { @class = "large search_box" })%> In my controller. Campuses = AdminRepository .ListAll<Campus>(a => a.Description) .ToSelectListItem<Campus>(a => a.CampusId, a => a.Description, criteria.CampusId, true); I can see that campuses does have the correct list item marked as selected - so why when it is displayed on the page is it no longer marked as selected?! I can't see anything else obviously modifying the list. Thanks :)

  • MVC can't find my Areas page

    I created an Area in my application named Admin. It's pretty basic, looks like this: Areas Admin Controllers CompaniesController.cs Models Views Companies Index.aspx AdminAreaRegistration.cs When I try to view my Index page by going to /Admin/Companies, I get a "The resource cannot be found" message. I find it weird that I don't get any sort of error message. I'm not sure what's going on here, has anyone come across this?

  • How do I access static variables in an enum class without a class instance?

    I have some code that processes fixed length data records. I've defined the record structures using java enums. I've boiled it down the the simplest example possible to illustrate the hoops that I currently have to jump through to get access to a static variable inside the enum. Is there a better way to get at this variable that I'm overlooking? If you compile and run the code, it just prints out "3". (General I am aware of closure, what is Two-Way-Closure?, I replied there is no such term exists,but he did not satisfy).
