• Multiple/repeat .replace on one page

  I've made a script which copies the ALT-tag of an image and puts it into a SPAN. It also formates the information devided by a hyphen. It works like a charm, but only with one image. Further more, I would like it to wrap a div around the image, to prevent unnecessary markup, as I have now. • Delphi fast large bitmap creation (without clearing)

  When using the TBitmap wrapper for a GDI bitmap from the unit Graphics I noticed it will always clear out the bitmap (using a PatBlt call) when setting up a bitmap with SetSize( w, h ). When I copy in the bits later on (see routine below) it seems ScanLine is the fastest possibility and not SetDIBits. function ToBitmap: TBitmap; var i, N, x: Integer; S, D: PAnsiChar; begin Result := TBitmap.Create(); Result.PixelFormat := pf32bit; Result.SetSize( width, height ); S := Src; D := Result.ScanLine[ 0 ]; x := Integer( Result.ScanLine[ 1 ] ) - Integer( D ); N := width * sizeof( longword ); for i := 0 to height - 1 do begin Move( S^, D^, N ); Inc( S, N ); Inc( D, x ); end; end; The bitmaps I need to work with are quite large (150MB of RGB memory). With these iomages it takes 150ms to simply create an empty bitmap and a further 140ms to overwrite it's contents. Is there a way of initializing a TBitmap with the correct size WITHOUT initializing the pixels itself and leaving the memory of the pixels uninitialized (eg dirty)? Or is there another way to do such a thing. I know we could work on the pixels in place but this still leaves the 150ms of unnessesary initializtion of the pixels.

• Is XSLT worth investing time in and are there any actual alternatives?

  I realize this has been a few other questions on this topic, and people are saying use your language of choice to manipulate the XML etc etc however, not quite fit my question exactly. Firstly, the scope of the project: We want to develop platform independent e-learning, currently, its a bunch of HTML pages but as they grow and develop they become hard to maintain. The idea: Generate up an XML file + Schema, then produce some XSLT files that process the XML into the eLearning modiles. XML to HTML via XSLT. Why: We would like the flexibilty to be able to easy reformat the content (I realize CSS is a viable alternative here) If we decide to alter the pages layout or functionality in anyway, im guessing altering the "shared" XSLT files would be easier than updating the HTML files. So far, we have about 30 modules, with up to 10-30 pages each Depending on some "parameters" we could output drastically different page layouts/structures, above and beyond what CSS can do Now, all this has to be platform independent, and to be able to run "offline" i.e. without a server powering the HTML Negatives I've read so far for XSLT: Overhead? Not exactly sure why...is it the compute power need to convert to HTML? Difficult to learn Better alternatives Now, what I would like to know exactly is: are there actually any viable alternatives for this "offline"? Am I going about it in the correct manner, do you guys have any advice or alternatives. Thanks!

• How to add dimensions to dynamic img elements (Updated)

  I use a Json call to get a list of image addresses, then I add them individually to a div like this. Unfortunately the image dimension is not part of the Json information. <div id="container"> <img src="A.jpg" alt="" /> <img src="B.jpg" alt="" /> ... </div> Do any of you JQuery geniuses know of a code that would flawlessly and dynamically add the true Width and Height to each img element in the container as soon as each individual one is rendered? I was thinking maybe the code could do a image width check width > 0 to evaluate when the image has actually been rendered, then fire. But I wouldn't know how to go about that and make it work stably. How is the best way of going about this? Thank you so much! Update, As the answers point out, adding Width or Height to the elements is pretty routine. The problem here is actually writing a code that would know when to do that. And evaluate that condition for each image not the page as a whole.

  I have ListView containig LinkButtons in ItemTemplate. ListView is inside UpdatePanel so it is not doing page refresh. When users click on one the LinkButtons it changes its css property in order to mark the selection: protected void ListView1_ItemCommand1(object sender, ListViewCommandEventArgs e) { ((LinkButton)e.CommandSource).CssClass = "selected"; } That allows multiple selections.   In our Intranet environment we have a decree that common assets (stylesheets, images, etc) should be fed from Apache root while Rails apps runs from from a "sub directory" (a proxy to a Mongrel cluster). (e.g. <link href="http://1.1.1.1/myapp/stylesheets/common.css"> ) Is there a way to stop this? And, more importantly, is there a best practice for how to deploy a rails app to an environment like this? (BTW, I don't want to simply hard code my asset paths since the development environment does not match the test and production environments.) Environment: Rails 2.3.4 Ruby 1.8.7 RedHat Linux 5.4?

  Why doesn't keyboard input work for a ScrollViewer when the child control has input focus? This is the scenario. A WPF window opens. It sets the focus to a control that is embedded in a ScrollViewer. I hit the up and down and left and right keys. The ScrollViewer doesn't seem to handle the key events, anyone know why? • Trouble with building up a string in Clojure

  Hi gang - [this may seem like my problem is with Compojure, but it isn't - it's with Clojure] I've been pulling my hair out on this seemingly simple issue - but am getting nowhere. I am playing with Compojure (a light web framework for Clojure) and I would just like to generate a web page showing showing my list of todos that are in a PostgreSQL database. The code snippets are below (left out the database connection, query, etc - but that part isn't needed because specific issue is that the resulting HTML shows nothing between the <body> and </body> tags). As a test, I tried hard-coding the string in the call to main-layout, like this: (html (main-layout "Aki's Todos" "Haircut<br>Study Clojure<br>Answer a question on Stackoverfolw")) - and it works fine. So the real issue is that I do not believe I know how to build up a string in Clojure. Not the idiomatic way, and not by calling out to Java's StringBuilder either - as I have attempted to do in the code below. A virtual beer, and a big upvote to whoever can solve it! • Why can't RB-Tree be a list?

  Hey everyone. I have a problem with the rb-trees. according to wikipedia, rb-tree needs to follow the following: A node is either red or black. The root is black. (This rule is used in some definitions and not others. Since the root can always be changed from red to black but not necessarily vice-versa this rule has little effect on analysis.) All leaves are black. Both children of every red node are black. Every simple path from a given node to any of its descendant leaves contains the same number of black nodes. As we know, an rb-tree needs to be balanced and has the height of O(log(n)). But, if we insert an increasing series of numbers (1,2,3,4,5...) and theoretically we will get a tree that will look like a list and will have the height of O(n) with all its nodes black, which doesn't contradict the rb-tree properties mentioned above. So, where am I wrong?? thanks.

• ASPX page renders differently when reached on intranet vs. internet?

  This is so odd to me.. I have IIS 5 running on XP and it's hosting a small ASP.Net app for our LAN that we can access by using the computer name, virtual directory, and page name (http://matt/smallapp/customers.aspx), but you can also hit that IIS server and page from the internet because I have a public IP that my firewall routes to the "Matt" computer (like http://213.202.3.88/smallapp/customers.aspx [just a made-up IP]). Don't worry, I have Windows domain authentication is in place to protect the app from anonymous users. So all the abovea parts works fine. But what's weird is that the Border of the divs on the page are rendered much thicker when you access the page from the intranet, versus the internet, (I'm using IE8) and also, some of the div layout (stretching and such) acts differently. Why would it render different in the same browser based on whether it was reached from the LAN vs. the internet? It does NOT do this in FireFox. So it must be just an IE8 thing. All the CSS for the divs is right in the HTML page, so I do not think it is a caching matter of a CSS file. The above code will obviously not work as the imageCrop.. parameters in the Ajax form are being filled when the page is rendered (therefore being all 0). My question is: what is the correct way to approach this situation?

  I am using cordova for mobile app development on android platform. What I want to achieve, is to rotate image inside it 90deg, 180deg or 270deg but always move that image to top left corner of #container. I tried a little bit with transform-origin but I couldn't find any solution.

• Flex/Actionscript image display problem.

  I'm trying to extend the Image class but hit a problem that I can't get past. I have a private image (img) that loads an image and a function that takes that image and copies it onto the parent. The debug function "copyit2" displays the image fine (so I know it's loaded OK). But the function "copyit" doesn't work - it just displays a white rectangle. I can't see how to make copyit work so that the original image is copied to the BitmapData and then subsequenty copied onto the parent? (The idea is to do some processing on the Bitmap data before it is displayed, although this isn't shown here to keep the example simple.) I suspect it is something to do with the security of loading images, but I'm loading it from the same server as the application is run from - so this shouldn't be a problem?
