• Axis2 with OpenEJB error on Tomcat

  Hi, I deployed on Tomcat Axis2 and OpenEjb and got the error. If deploy either only axis2 or openejb, they works properly, but when deploy them together, Axis2 can't be deployed, but OpenEjb is available. Could anybody help with this problem, please? • simpletest - Why does setReturnValue() seem to change behaviour depending on if test is run in isola

  I am using SimpleTest version 1.0.1 for a unit test. I create a new mock object within a test method and on it i do: $MockDbAdaptor->setReturnValue('query',1); Now, when i run this in a standalone unit test my tested object is happy to see 1 returned when query() is called on the mock db adaptor. However, when this exact same test is run as part of my 'all_tests' TestSuite, the test is failing. This happens because a call to the mock's query() method does not appear to return any value - thus causing my test subject to complain and trigger an unexpected exception that fails the test. So, the behaviour of setReturnValue() seems to change depending on whether the test is run in isolation or not. I can get it to work in both a standalone and TestSuite contexts by using this instead: $MockDbAdaptor->setReturnValueAt(0,'query',1); So my immediate problem can be fixed ...but it feels like a hack. I thought if i create a new mock within a test method then why is the setReturnValue() behaviour getting affected by the context in which the test class instance is run? It feel like a bug.

• Best practices for class-mapping with SoapClient

  Using SoapClient's class mapping feature and it's pretty sweet. Unfortunately the SOAP service we're using has a bunch of read-only properties on some of the objects and will throw faults if the properties are passed back as anything but null. Need to filter out the properties before they're used in the SOAP call and am looking for advice on the best way to do it. So far the options are: Stick to a convention where I use getter and setter functions to manipulate the properties, and use property overloading to filter method access since only SoapClient would be doing that. E.g. developers would access properties like this: $obj->getAccountNumber() SoapClient would access properties like this: $obj->accountNumber I don't like this because the properties are still exposed and things could go wrong if developers don't stick to convention. Have a wrapper for SoapClient that sets a public property the mapped objects can check to see if the property is being accessed by SoapClient. I already have a wrapper that assigns a reference to itself to all the mapped objects. class SoapClientWrapper { public function __soapCall($method, $args) { $this->setSoapMode(true); $this->_soapClient->__soapCall($method, $args); $this->setSoapMode(false); } } class Invoice { function __get($val) { if($this->_soapClient->getSoapMode()) { return null; } else { return $this->$val; } } } This works but it doesn't feel right and seems a bit clunky. Do the mapping manually, and don't use SoapClient's mapping features. I'd just have a function on all the mapped objects that returns the safe-to-send properties. Also, nobody would have access to properties they shouldn't since I could enforce getters and setters. A lot more work, though.

• AssemblyLoadException in postsharp, problem with arguments from referenced DLLs?

  I'm just starting out with postsharp/AOP. I want to make some instrumentation for C# to track the usage of some addins that I write for a peice of software. I am trying to use the OnMethodBoundaryAspect class to take note of the values of some of the parameters when the method is called. Those parameters are types which are referenced in an external DLL. When I add my attribute to the method, the project won't build, I get the following error Error 2 Unhandled exception (2.0.5.1204, 64 bit, CLR 2.0, Release): PostSharp.CodeModel.AssemblyLoadException: Error while loading the assembly "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Revit Structure 2011\Program\RevitAPI.dll": Could not load file or assembly 'revitapi, Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. Operation is not supported. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131515) The REvitAPI.dll is the file with the type in it. I've also tested just adding the attribute to the project but not applying it to any methods, this also causes the error. So it appears its not related to the method parameter types itself, but merely the existence of this DLL. Has anyone come across this issue before, or can anyone point me in the right direction of where to get some more info on this?

• Need assistance with Kohana 3 and catch all route turning into a 404 error

  Based on this documentation, I've implemented a catch all route which routes to an error page. Here is the last route in my bootstrap.php Route::set('default', '<path>', array('path' => '.+')) ->defaults(array( 'controller' => 'errors', 'action' => '404', )); However I keep getting this exception thrown when I try and go to a non existent page Kohana_Exception [ 0 ]: Required route parameter not passed: path If I make the <path> segment optional (i.e. wrap it in parenthesis) then it just seems to load the home route, which is... Route::set('home', '') ->defaults(array( 'controller' => 'home', 'action' => 'index', )); The home route is defined first. • Pylons error "No object (name: request) has been registered for this thread" with debug = false

  I'm unable to access the request object in my Pylons 0.9.7 controller when I set debug = false in the .ini file. I have the following code: def run_something(self): print('!!! request = %r' % request) print('!!! request.params = %r' % request.params) yield 'Stuff' With debugging enabled this works fine and prints out: !!! request = <Request at 0x9571190 POST http://my_url> !!! request.params = UnicodeMultiDict([... lots of stuff ...]) If I set debug = false I get the following: !!! request = <paste.registry.StackedObjectProxy object at 0x4093790> Error - <type 'exceptions.TypeError'>: No object (name: request) has been registered for this thread The stack trace confirms that the error is on the print('!!! request.params = %r' % request.params) line. I'm running it using the Paste server and these two lines are the very first lines in my controller method. This only occurs if I have yield statements in the method (even though the statements aren't reached). I'm guessing Pylons sees that it's a generator method and runs it on some other thread. My questions are: How do I make it work with debug = false ? Why does it work with debug = true ? Obviously this is quite a dangerous bug, since I normally develop with debug = true, so it can go unnoticed during development.

  In Haskell I can define following data type: data Tree = Empty | Leaf Int | Node Tree Tree and then write polymorphic function like this: depth :: Tree -> Int depth Empty = 0 depth (Leaf n) = 1 depth (Node l r) = 1 + max (depth l) (depth r) In Java I can emulate algebraic data types with interfaces: interface Tree {} class Empty implements Tree {} class Leaf implements Tree { int n; } class Node implements Tree { Tree l; Tree r; } But if I try to use Haskell-like polymorphism, I get an error: int depth(Empty node) { return 0; } int depth(Leaf node) { return 1; } int depth(Node node) { return 1 + Math.max(depth(node.l), depth(node.r)); // ERROR: Cannot resolve method 'depth(Tree)' } Correct way to overcome this is to put method depth() to each class. But what if I don't want to put it there? For example, method depth() may be not directly related to Tree and adding it to class would break business logic. Or, even worse, Tree may be written in 3rd party library that I don't have access to. In this case, what is the simplest way to implement ADT-like polymorpism? • Asp.net MVC 2, MvcContrib, and a base controller with redirect actions

  I've got a base controller that takes a couple generics, nothing overly fancy. public class SystemBaseController<TForm, TFormViewModel> : Controller where TForm : class, IForm where TFormViewModel : class, IViewModel ok, no big deal. I have a method "CompleteForm" that takes in the viewModel, looks kinda like this ... public ActionResult CompleteForm(TFormViewModel viewModel) { //does some stuff return this.RedirectToAction(c => c.FormInfo(viewModel)); } Problem is, the controller that inherits this, like so public class SalesFormController : SystemBaseController<SalesForm, SalesViewModel> { } I end up getting a error from MvcContrib - Controller name must end in 'Controller' at this point ... public RedirectToRouteResult(Expression<Action<T>> expression) : this(expression, expr => Microsoft.Web.Mvc.Internal.ExpressionHelper.GetRouteValuesFromExpression(expr)) {} The expression that's passed in is correct (SystemBaseController blahblah) but I'm not sure why its 1.) saying there's no controller at the end, and 2.) if I pull out everything into the controller (out of the base), works just fine. Do I need to write or setup some kind of action filter of my own or what am I missing?

  Hey. I am trying to filter Client Comments by using a select and rendering it in a partial. Right now the partial loads @client.comments. I have a Category model with a Categorizations join. This all works, just need to know how to get the select to call the filter action and load the partial with ajax. Thanks for you help. But when I just the name and city or address1 filed, the validation works, error message shown, but the value I put in the city or address1, is not persisted or not displayed inside the address form fields? This is the same case with edit action too. Though the record is saved, the address doesn't show up on the edit form. Only the name of the Client model is shown. Actually, when I look at the log, the address model SQL is not queried even at all.

• Rendering a control generates security exception in .Net 4

  I am having a problem with code that worked fine in .Net 2 giving this error under .Net 4. Build (web): Inheritance security rules violated while overriding member: 'Controls.RelatedPosts.RenderControl(System.Web.UI.HtmlTextWriter)'. Security accessibility of the overriding method must match the security accessibility of the method being overriden. This is in DotNetBlogEngine. There were several other security demands in the code that .Net 4 didn't seem to like. I followed some of the advice I found on blogs (and here) and got rid of all the other errors. But this one still eludes me. The Main blogengine core dll is not set for security demands anylonger and is compiled for .Net 4 as well. This error is in the website side attempting to use the dll. There are controls that call a RenderControl method taking an HtmlTextWriter. Apparently the text writer now has some soft of security attributes set on it. Each of the controls implements a custom interface ( public interface ICustomFilter ), there are no security permissions present or demands. The site is running full trust on my local dev machine.

• Use Java exceptions internally for REST API user errors?

  We have a REST API that works great. We're refactoring and deciding how to internally handle errors by the users of our API. For example the user needs to specify the "movie" url parameter which should take the value of "1984", "Crash", or "Avatar". First we check to see if it has a valid value. What would be the best approach if the movie parameter is invalid? return null from one of the internal methods and check for the null in the main API call method throw an exception from the internal method and catch exceptions in the main API method I think it would make our code more readable and elegant to use exceptions. However, we're reluctant because we'd be potentially throwing many exceptions because of user API input errors, our code could be perfect. This doesn't seem to be the proper use of exceptions. If there are heavy performance penalties with exceptions, which would make sense with stack traces needing to be collected, etc., then we're unnecessarily spending resources when all we need to do is tell the user the parameter is wrong. These are REST API methods, so we're not propogating the exceptions to the users of the API, nor would we want to even if possible. So what's the best practice here? Use ugly nulls or use java's exception mechanism?

  UPDATE: I found that the reason for the previous error was an error in the documentation. The method should be named proxyForJson, not jsonProxyObject... But I'm still stuck, though. I now get an EXC_BAD_ACCESS error inside stringWithObject some where. Any clues? UPDATE 2: My proxyForJson implementation is a cut-n-paste from then documentation: - (id)proxyForJson { return [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: Navn, @"Navn", Adresse, @"Adresse", Alder, @"Alder", nil]; } Trying to make json serialization work for my custom objective-c class. As I understand the documentation, json-framework can serialize custom objects, if they implement the jsonProxyObject method.   My problem is this: I want to create a grails domain instance, defining the 'Many' instances of another domain that it has. I need a single form to allow a person to register but I want to normalise the data so that I can add more skills at a later time. • How do I pass data from a BroadcastReceiver through to an Activity being started?

  I've got an Android application which needs to be woken up sporadically throughout the day. To do this, I'm using the AlarmManager to set up a PendingIntent and have this trigger a BroadcastReceiver. This BroadcastReceiver then starts an Activity to bring the UI to the foreground. All of the above seems to work, in that the Activity launches itself correctly; but I'd like the BroadcastReceiver to notify the Activity that it was started by the alarm (as opposed to being started by the user). To do this I'm trying, from the onReceive() method of the BroadcastReceiver to set a variable in the extras bundle of the intent, thus: Intent i = new Intent(context, MyActivity.class); i.putExtra(wakeupKey, true); i.setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK); context.startActivity(i); In the onResume() method of my Activity, I then look for the existence of this boolean variable: protected void onResume() { super.onResume(); String wakeupKey = "blah"; if (getIntent()!=null && getIntent().getExtras()!=null) Log.d("app", "onResume at " + System.currentTimeMillis() + ":" + getIntent().getExtras().getBoolean(wakeupKey)); else Log.d("app", "onResume at " + System.currentTimeMillis() + ": null"); } The getIntent().getExtras() call in onResume() always returns null - I don't seem to be able to pass any extras through at all in this bundle. Can anyone tell me what's different about passing a bundle from a BroadcastReceiver to an Activity, as opposed to passing the bundle from an Activity to a BroadcastReceiver? I fear I may be doing something very very obvious wrong here...

  I am currently developing a Java app which handles a SOAP webservice. The problem lies after I parse the WSDL [the Parser object from Apache Axis does it for me], and I create the call. When I try to invoke it, I have to pass a Object[] to assign the parameters [taken from the Action of the WSDL]. A normal action is easy, but when I have custom datatypes, I can't get it to fill it out for me. I try to pass Object[]{ new Object { }}, but it assigns the first field instead. I can't pass it already processed, because it changes the '< ' to '--lt --gt', and the server doesn't recognize it'. • Copied Netbeans IDE Maven Web project failes to compile

  If I am going to make serious changes to my project I like to make a copy (right click project and select copy). I have created copies of my projects many times (maven web applications included) without issue. Now all I do is copy the project making no changes, leaving the copy settings on default (project name etc) and then try to run it and spring decides to take issue with it. Again I try running the original and it works. I deleted the faulty copy, restarted and tried again and still it does not work. • J2ME web service client

  Hi all , I started to use the Netbeans 6.8 web service client wizard . I created a web service (.Net web service) witch return an object Data. The Data class , contains fileds with many types : int , string , double , Person object and array of Person object. I created the J2ME client code through the wizard and every thing seems ok . I see in the Netbeans project the service and the stub . When I try to call my web service method , say Data GetData() ; Then I have a problem with parsing the returned data from the web service and the client data object . That allows us to use arbitrary view methods as action handlers. The existing issue is that the input to the form, only displays on the console and not on jsfiddle result section, though no error displays on the result section, there is a new error appearing in the console of the updated fiddle: Uncaught Error: Cannot perform operations on a Metamorph that is not in the DOM. Finally solved I needed to comment out App.initialize() for it to work as expected. This the working fiddle ** http://jsfiddle.net/ACzaJ/20/. I don't know why that is so, but my guess is that, App.initialize works with other parts like the router for routing, ApplicationController and ApplicationView with {{outlet}} in the handlebars, which i didn't need for this fiddle. Finally Finally and completely solved This ** http://jsfiddle.net/tQWn8/ works with App.initialize. But you have to declare all those components above and pass the router to App.initialize, like this App..initialize(router). If you don't do this, then you will get the old error Uncaught Error: Cannot perform operations on a Metamorph that is not in the DOM.
