  • Groovy: Dynamically addings methods with a specific signature.

    - by Reverend Gonzo
    So, I need to dynamically create (or inject) methods into an object that have a specific return type and method signature, because a Java tool we're using will be finding this methods via Reflection and checks for void type. Method names will be determined at runtime. Using metaClass. = { ... } however adds a closure which doesn't show up as a regular method (even if it can be used as one) and also has a return type. I can't modify the method finding code, and it it not Groovy-aware. I can't use methodMissing() or invokeMethod() because the method needs to actually exist. If I could overload class.getMethods() I think it would be possible, but I can't figure out how. Is there any way to do this in Groovy?

  • How to set up default value in symfony2 select box with data from database

  • Why does this program segfault

    - by Leda
    Upon compiling and running this small program to reverse a string, I get a Segmentation Fault before any output occurs. Forgive me if this is an obvious question, I'm still very new to C. #include <stdio.h> int reverse(char string[], int length); int main() { char string[] = "reversed"; printf("String at start of main = %s", string); reverse(string, sizeof(string)); printf("%s\n", string); return 0; } // Reverse string int reverse(char string[], int length) { int i; char reversed[] = {}; int temp; for(i = 0; i < length; ++i) { temp = string[i]; reversed[length - i] = temp; } return 0; }

  • [grails + xfire] How to handle errors in SOAP services?

    - by Mulone
    Hi all, I'm implementing a web service on the xfire plugin. I was wondering how I'm supposed to handle the errors. I tried with this setup but the error is not returned to the SOAP client: GaSession[] myMethod( String userId ) throws MyException{ GaUser user = GaUser.findByUserId( userId ) if (!user) throw new MyException("user ${userId} does not exist") // do stuff and return valid results } Is there a standard way to handle errors and return them to the client in a clear way? My log is full of messages like: 2010-06-13 18:20:40,926 [Thread-289] DEBUG aegis.XMLClassMetaInfoManager - Mapping file : /com/mycompany/MyClass.aegis.xml not found. Is there a way to fix this? Cheers!

  • Python performance profiling (file close)

    - by user1853986
    First of all thanks for your attention. My question is how to reduce the execution time of my code. Here is the relevant code. The below code is called in iteration from the main. def call_prism(prism_input_file,random_length): prism_output_file = "path.txt" cmd = "prism %s -simpath %d %s" % (prism_input_file,random_length,prism_output_file) p = os.popen(cmd) p.close() return prism_output_file def main(prism_input_file, number_of_strings): ... for n in range(number_of_strings): prism_output_file = call_prism(prism_input_file,z[n]) ... return I used statistics from the "profile statistics browser" when I profiled my code. The "file close" system command took the maximum time (14.546 seconds). The call_prism routine is called 10 times. But the number_of_strings is usually in thousands, so, my program takes lot of time to complete. Let me know if you need more information. By the way I tried with subprocess, too. Thanks.

    - by Industrial
    Hi everyone, How is parenting functions in PHP done properly according to the following example? Can I make sure that my array isn't overwritten and the previous values inside array lost, on each addArray call? function arraybase() { $this->array = new ArrayObject(); return $this; } function addArray($value) { parent::$this->arraybase(); $this->array->append($value); return $this; } $this->addArray('1')->addArray('2')->addArray('3'); // outputs: Array ( [0] => 3 ) Thanks a lot!

  • Absolute URL Generation with Subdirectory in Rails

    - by Hulihan Applications
    Hey Guys - I'm trying to find an easy way(without having to write any plugins or overrides to Rails) to generate an absolute url to a rails application being in a subdirectory. This url is going to be generated for theme images, not links, so I can't url link_to or url_for. Here's an example of what I want to do: <%= theme_image("delete_icon.png", :theme => "my_theme") %> If my app is running at http://localhost, This would return: <img src="/themes/my_theme/images/delete_icon.png"> but If my app is running at http://localhost/myapp, This would return: <img src="/myapp/themes/my_theme/images/delete_icon.png"> Can anyone point me in the right direction to generate a dynamic, absolute url to a non-routed resource?

  • How does the stream manipulators work?

    - by Narek
    It is well known that the user can define stream manipulators like this: ostream& tab(ostream & output) { return output<< '\t'; } And this can be used in main() like this: cout<<'a'<<tab<<'b'<<'c'<<endl; Please explain me how does this all work? If operator<< assumes as a second parameter a pointer to the function that takes and returns ostream &, then please explain my why it is necessary? What would be wrong if the function does not take and return ostream & but it was void instead of ostream &? Also it is interesting why “dec”, “hex” manipulators take effect until I don’t change between them, but user defined manipulators should be always used in order to take effect for each streaming?

  • Cast vector<T> to vector<const T>

    - by user345386
    I have a member variable of type vector (where is T is a custom class, but it could be int as well.) I have a function from which I want to return a pointer to this vector, but I don't want the caller to be able to change the vector or it's items. So I want the return type to be const vector* None of the casting methods I tried worked. The compiler keeps complaining that T is not compatible with const T. Here's some code that demonstrates the gist of what I'm trying to do; vector<int> a; const vector<const int>* b = (const vector<const int>* ) (&a); This code doesn't compile for me. Thanks in advance!

  • returning null or throwing an exception?

    - by MoKi
    I have the following types: typedef QPair < QTime , QTime > CalculatedTimeSlotRange; typedef QList < CalculatedTimeSlotRange > CalculatedTimeSlotRangeList; typedef QHash < quint8 , CalculatedTimeSlotRangeList > TimeSlotsTable; I have a function like the following: const CalculatedTimeSlotRangeList* TimeSlots::getCalculatedTimeSlotRangeList(const quint8 id) const { QHashIterator<quint8,CalculatedTimeSlotRangeList> it(mTimeSlotsTable); while (it.hasNext()) { it.next(); if(it.key() == id) { return &it.value(); } } return NULL; } as you can see my function returns a null if it fails to find a key that matches id. Is this correct? or should I just throw an exception if the key does not exist? how should i throw an exception for this situation?

  • How to disable listbox auto select item when pressing key

    - by tomfox66
    I have a listbox where I want to copy and paste items within that listbox. Copy and paste works fine but everytime I press "Crtl + C" the item starting with the letter C is automatically selected. Can this automatic selection be disabled or am I missing something here Here is the copy and paste method I implemented: private void listBox_Script_KeyDown(object sender, KeyEventArgs e) { if (e.Control == true && e.KeyCode == Keys.C) { int test = listBox_Script.SelectedIndex; Clipboard.SetDataObject(listBox_Script.Items[listBox_Script.SelectedIndex], true); return; } if (e.Control == true && e.KeyCode == Keys.V) { if (Clipboard.GetDataObject().GetDataPresent(DataFormats.Text)) { listBox_Script.Items.Insert(listBox_Script.SelectedIndex + 1, Clipboard.GetDataObject().GetData(DataFormats.Text).ToString()); return; } }

  • Making linq avoid using in memory filtering where possible

    - by linqmonkey
    Consider the these two LINQ2SQL data retrieval methods. The first creates a 'proper' SQL statement that filters the data, but requires passing the data context into the method. The second has a nicer syntax but loads the entire list of that accounts projects, then does in memory filtering. Is there any way to preserve the syntax of the second method but with the performance advantage of the first? public partial class Account { public IQueryable<Project> GetProjectsByYear(LinqDataContext context, int year) { return context.Projects.Where(p => p.AccountID==this.AccountID && p.Year==year).OrderBy(p => p.ProjectNo) } public IQueryable<Project> GetProjectsByYear(int year) { return this.Projects.Where(p => p.Year==year).OrderBy(p => p.ProjectNo).AsQueryable() } }

  • dropdown list event is not firing when javascript is used

    - by user1511953
    i have a problem in firing dropdownlist event i have following dropdown asp:dropdownlist id="ddlhello" Runat="server" AutoPostBack="True" onchange="javascript:return ChangeHeader();" i have also added event in code behind i.e. selectedindex change event. Now problem occurs when i execute the page, it executes javascript but server side code doesnot fire, but if i remove this line onchange="javascript:return ChangeHeader();" then server side code fires. when i checked source page it shows me two onchange events associated one for javascript and other for server side. i think that it is picking client side code and neglects server side. I am not pretty sure, so i want to know the behavior reason. And what is the way out for this. i want server and client side code to be executed. i have searched for solutions but i have not found any correct reason. please reply for the same. Thanks in advance

  • How to keep the first result of a function from Prolog?

    - by zuhakasa
    I need to write a customized function that will be called many times by other fixed functions. In this function, at the first called time, it will return the total number of lines of a file. The second called time of this function, forward, will return the number of lines in small sections of this file. My question is how I keep the first returned result(total number of lines of a file) and use it for the next called times of my function. I need to write or declare any thing only in this function(not in the caller). Something like this: myFunction(Input, MyResult, FirstResult) :- calculateInputFunction(Input, Result), !, MyResult is Result, ... . The problem is, every time myFunction is called, it receives different Input and returns different MyResult. But I would like to keep the first MyResult to use for next called times of myFunction. How can I do that? Thanks very much for your answer in advance.

  • Controller should not have domain logic. How faithful should one adhere to this tenet?

    - by Hao
    Quoting from page 49 of Pro ASP.NET MVC book It is certainly possible to put domain logic into a controller, even though you shouldn’t, just because it seems like it will work anyway. It’s easy to avoid this if you imagine that you have multiple UI technologies (e.g., an ASP.NET MVC application plus a native iPhone application) operating on the same underlying business domain layer (and maybe one day you will!). With this in mind, it’s clear that you don’t want to put domain logic into any of the UI layers. Why he seems to contradict himself on page 172? [HttpPost] public ActionResult CheckOut(Cart cart, ShippingDetails shippingDetails) { // Empty carts can't be checked out if (cart.Lines.Count == 0) ModelState.AddModelError("Cart", "Sorry, your cart is empty!"); if (ModelState.IsValid) { orderSubmitter.SubmitOrder(cart, shippingDetails); cart.Clear(); return View("Completed"); } else // Something was invalid return View(shippingDetails); } Related to: How to avoid placing domain logic in controller?

  • simulate what native object is not exist

    - by Naitro
    Here is the situation: I have checking on existing class like: ('Promise' in window) // true/false` And I wanna force return false or true on it, can I do it? Yes, I can check it by some other way, like ` window.Promise = undefined; window.Promise === undefined; Or something like this, but can I somehow delete this object or simulate something for 'in' operator? I check specification and v8 code, there is 'in' operator just call 'HasProperty' operator, which realization on c++.. I know 'hack' with faking toString/valueOf methods: obj = { toString: function(){ return 'myName'; } }, obj2 = {}; obj2[obj] = 1; // Object {myName: 1} May be I can use it in some way? But, as I send string 'Promise' I can't just fake it like this way.. may be exist some way to fake 'HasProperty'?

  • Error messages in ASP.NET with jQuery UI

    - by eugeneK
    I've been using my own Error reporting module which was combination of simple c# and jQueryUI Dialog. Problem is that once error or success occurs i do write it's value to session. It does work pretty good on pages with Responce.Redirect on error but not on pages where i catch an error and then return to same form. My question is why does session which added pre-postback fails to load in pages where i have return statement on some condition. And if there another way to save errors and success message except in session ? Maybe global variables or something like that ...

  • Define a method in base class that returns the name of itself (using reflection) - subclasses inheri

    - by Khnle
    In C#, using reflection, is it possible to define method in the base class that returns its own name (in the form of a string) and have subclasses inherit this behavior in a polymorphic way? For example: public class Base { public string getClassName() { //using reflection, but I don't want to have to type the word "Base" here. //in other words, DO NOT WANT get { return typeof(Base).FullName; } return className; //which is the string "Base" } } public class Subclass : Base { //inherits getClassName(), do not want to override } Subclass subclass = new Subclass(); string className = subclass.getClassName(); //className should be assigned "Subclass"
