  • Sending email using Perl using sendmail

    - by i.h4d35
    I am following the example from this website to send an email using Perl. The code looks like so: my $hostname = `hostname`; my $this_day = `date`; my $email = "i.h4d35\@gmail.com"; my $to = "$email"; my $from = "admin\@$hostname"; my $subject = "SCHEDULE COMPLETE - $this_day"; my $message = "Student schedule for today, completed for the following students: \n\n$names\n\nHave a nice day..."; open(MAIL, "|/usr/sbin/sendmail -t"); print MAIL "To: $to\n"; print MAIL "From: $from\n"; print MAIL "Subject: $subject\n\n"; print MAIL $message; close(MAIL); The mail gets sent but the subject appears in the body of the mail and the email has no subject. How do I fix this? PS: Have not gotten around to using MIME::Lite yet as I am still learning this.

  • PHP PayPal IPN - Getting drop down menu

    - by kimion09
    I'm using Paypal's buy it now buttons along with an IPN handler written in PHP to send me an e-mail whenever a purchase is made. The e-mail is properly being sent and is passing much of the data, but it's not capturing the drop down list for selecting a clothing item's size. Here's my button code fields: <input type="hidden" name="item_name" value="Test Shirt"> <input type="hidden" name="item_number" value="001"> <input type="hidden" name="on0" value="sizes"> Select a size: <select name="os0"> <option value="Small">Small </option> <option value="Medium">Medium </option> <option value="Large">Large </option> <option value="Extra Large">Extra Large </option> </select> My PHP IPN script that captures the data into variables looks like this: $item_name = $_POST['item_name']; $item_number = $_POST['item_number']; $size = $_POST['on0']; $sizeChoice = $_post['os0']; The e-mail properly displays the item name and item number, but nothing for the $size and $sizeChoice variables. It's late so I'm sure I'm looking over something very obvious but am still wondering if I'm just calling it wrong or if I'm forgetting some hidden fields? Thanks :)

  • SQL 2000 (MSDE) Hangs When It Receives an Erroneous Query from a Classic ASP Web Application

    - by Jimbo
    I have a SQL interface page in my classic ASP web app that allows admin users to run queries against the app's database (MSDE 2000) - it simply consists of a textarea that the user submits and the app returns the resulting list of records as below Dim oRS Set oRS = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset") oRS.ActiveConnection = sConnectionString // run the query - this is for the admin only so doesnt check for sql safe commands etc. oRS.Open Request.Form("txtSQL") If Not oRS.EOF Then // list the field names from the recordset For i = 0 to oRS.Fields.Count - 1 Response.Write oRS.Fields(i).name & "&nbsp;" Next // show the data for each record in the recordset While Not oRS.EOF For i = 0 to oRS.Fields.Count - 1 Response.Write oRS.Fields(i).value & "&nbsp;" Next Response.Write "<br />" oRS.Movenext() Wend End If The problem with this is that if you send it an invalid query (with a spelling mistake, invalid join etc.) instead of throwing back an error immediately, it hangs IIS (you can see this by trying to browse the app from another computer, it fails) for a number of minutes and THEN returns the error. I have NO idea why! Can anyone help?

  • 500 error using lighttpd, fastcgi and PHP on file upload

    - by Dan
    I have a server running lighttpd with fastcgi, and it appears to be working correctly. However when I try to upload a file using a form, I get a 500 Internal server error, along with the following in the logs: 2012-03-23 18:25:09: (mod_fastcgi.c.2566) unexpected end-of-file (perhaps the fastcgi process died): pid: 2755 socket: unix:/tmp/php-fastcgi-1.socket-0 2012-03-23 18:25:09: (mod_fastcgi.c.3354) response not received, request sent: 50437 on socket: unix:/tmp/php-fastcgi-1.socket-0 for /index.php?url=brand/manager, closing connection I've been looking around for a long while now trying to find a solution to the issue, but nothing I'm trying is working. My current fastcgi conf looks as follows: server.modules += ( "mod_fastcgi" ) fastcgi.server = ( ".php" => (( "socket" => "/tmp/php-fastcgi-1.socket", "bin-path" => "/usr/bin/php-cgi", "allow-x-send-file" => "enable", "max-procs" => 1, "broken-scriptfilename" => "enable" )) ) If anyone could suggest if there is anything wrong in the configuration it would be greatly appreciated, or any suggestion as to what I might do? As I say, it is only happening when trying to upload a file (the file in question being only 45k). Thanks, Dan

  • SMTP on C: STARTTLS via OpenSSL

    - by Jackell
    Hi all! I am using openssl to build secure smtp connections to gmail.com:25. So I can successfully connect to the server and sends a command STARTTLS (I receive 220 2.0.0 Ready to start TLS). Then execute the following code without disconnecting: SSL_METHOD* method = NULL; SSL_library_init(); SSL_load_error_strings(); method = SSLv23_client_method(); ctx = SSL_CTX_new(method); if (ctx == NULL) { ERR_print_errors_fp(stderr); } SSL_CTX_set_options(ctx, SSL_OP_NO_SSLv2); ssl = SSL_new(ctx); if (!SSL_set_fd(ssl, socket)) { ERR_print_errors_fp(stderr); return; } if (ssl) { if (SSL_connect((SSL*)ssl) < 1) { ERR_print_errors_fp(stderr); } // then i think i need to send EHLO } But after calling SSL_connect I get an error: 24953:error:140770FC:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:unknown protocol:s23_clnt.c:601: If I use SSLv3_client_method I get an error: 18143:error:1408F10B:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_RECORD:wrong version number:s3_pkt.c:284. • Binary stream 'NN' does not contain a valid BinaryHeader. Possible causes are invalid stream or obje

    - by FinancialRadDeveloper
    I am passing user defined classes over sockets. The SendObject code is below. It works on my local machine, but when I publish to the WebServer which is then communicating with the App Server on my own machine it fails. public bool SendObject(Object obj, ref string sErrMsg) { try { MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream(); BinaryFormatter bf1 = new BinaryFormatter(); bf1.Serialize(ms, obj); byte[] byArr = ms.ToArray(); int len = byArr.Length; m_socClient.Send(byArr); return true; } catch (Exception e) { sErrMsg = "SendObject Error: " + e.Message; return false; } } I can do this fine if it is one class in my tools project and the other class about UserData just doesn't want to know. Frustrating! Ohh. I think its because the UserData class has a DataSet inside it. Funnily enough I have seen this work, but then after 1 request it goes loopy and I can't get it to work again. Anyone know why this might be? I have looked at comparing the dlls to make sure they are the same on the WebServer and on my local machine and they look to be so as I have turned on versioning in the AssemblyInfo.cs to double check. Edit: Ok it seems that the problem is with size. If I keep it under 1024 byes ( I am guessing here) it works on the web server and doesnt if it has a DataSet inside it.k In fact this is so puzzling I converted the DataSet to a string using ds.GetXml() and this also causes it to blow up. :( So it seems that across the network something with my sockets is wrong and doesn't want to read in the data. JonSkeet where are you. ha ha. I would offer Rep but I don't have any. Grr

  • Disable Return key outside textareas on a Asp.Net web page (containing ajax code)

    - by Achim
    Hi, I have an Asp.Net web page, having the common Asp.Net form. The outer "border" of the page (i.e. main menu, header, ...) is build using normal Asp.Net code using a master page. The content of that page uses jQuery to display dynamic forms and to send data to the server. If I push the return key on that page, I jump to a (more or less) random page - which is not what the user expects. ;-) There are some text areas and the user must be able to enter line breaks. Otherwise it would be fine to disable the return key completely. Any bullet proof way to do that? I found some solutions on the web, which capture the keypress event and ignore \x13, but that does not really work. It works as long as the page has just loaded, but as soon as I have clicked on some elements, the return key behaves as usuall. Any hint would be really appreciated! Achim

  • Activesupport::JSON.decode crashes on this,

    - by Waheedi
    I wonder why i cant decode this json string, all what i want is to convert this to a proper Ruby hash, anyone have an idea? i think the array of objects is cracking it ? Parameters: {"{\"origins\":"=>{"{\"origin\":\"this\"},{\"origin\":\"dont\"},{\"origin\":\"dont me please\"},{\"origin\":\"and me please\"},{\"origin\":\"dont\"},{\"origin\":\"dont\"},{\"origin\":\"dont\"},{\"origin\":\"okay\"},{\"origin\":\"dont\"},{\"origin\":\"go\"},{\"origin\":\"go\"}"=>{",\"url\":\"file:///Users/waheed/Desktop/untitled.html\",\"apik\":\"helloapik\",\"host\":\"http://localhost:3000/\"}"=>nil}}} now in my javascript im doing this //this is the object im trying to send over xmlhttprequest and im using JSON.org library which has the stringify method function tObject(origins,url,apik){ this.origins=origins; //this is an array of string this.url=url; this.apik=apik; } var t = new tObject(myStringArr,"www.foo.com","welcome guys"); ajax = new Ajax(); //this is an xhcon class you dont worry about it url here http://xkr.us/code/javascript/XHConn/ ajax.connect("http://localhost:3000/","POST",JSON.stringify(t), callback); in my rails app the parameters that has been posted looks like this: Parameters: {"{\"origins\":"={"{\"origin\":\"this\"},{\"origin\":\"yo yo\"},{\"origin\":\" me please\"},{\"origin\":\"and me please\"},{\"origin\":\"here\"},{\"origin\":\"and again\"},{\"origin\":\"again\"},{\"origin\":\"okay\"},{\"origin\":\"yes\"},{\"origin\":\"go\"},{\"origin\":\"go\"}"={",\"url\":\"www.foo.com\",\"apik\":\"welcome guys\"}"=nil}}} why it results with nil at the last ? i've tried to decode it but it could not work because it blame the string is not json string ?!!? TIA, waheedi

  • Make Python Socket Server More Efficient

    - by BenMills
    I have very little experience working with sockets and multithreaded programming so to learn more I decided to see if I could hack together a little python socket server to power a chat room. I ended up getting it working pretty well but then I noticed my server's CPU usage spiked up over 100% when I had it running in the background. Here is my code in full: http://gist.github.com/332132 I know this is a pretty open ended question so besides just helping with my code are there any good articles I could read that could help me learn more about this? My full code: import select import socket import sys import threading from daemon import Daemon class Server: def __init__(self): self.host = '' self.port = 9998 self.backlog = 5 self.size = 1024 self.server = None self.threads = [] self.send_count = 0 def open_socket(self): try: self.server = socket.socket(socket.AF_INET6, socket.SOCK_STREAM) self.server.setsockopt(socket.SOL_SOCKET, socket.SO_REUSEADDR, 1) self.server.bind((self.host,self.port)) self.server.listen(5) print "Server Started..." except socket.error, (value,message): if self.server: self.server.close() print "Could not open socket: " + message sys.exit(1) def remove_thread(self, t): t.join() def send_to_children(self, msg): self.send_count = 0 for t in self.threads: t.send_msg(msg) print 'Sent to '+str(self.send_count)+" of "+str(len(self.threads)) def run(self): self.open_socket() input = [self.server,sys.stdin] running = 1 while running: inputready,outputready,exceptready = select.select(input,[],[]) for s in inputready: if s == self.server: # handle the server socket c = Client(self.server.accept(), self) c.start() self.threads.append(c) print "Num of clients: "+str(len(self.threads)) self.server.close() for c in self.threads: c.join() class Client(threading.Thread): def __init__(self,(client,address), server): threading.Thread.__init__(self) self.client = client self.address = address self.size = 1024 self.server = server self.running = True def send_msg(self, msg): if self.running: self.client.send(msg) self.server.send_count += 1 def run(self): while self.running: data = self.client.recv(self.size) if data: print data self.server.send_to_children(data) else: self.running = False self.server.threads.remove(self) self.client.close() """ Run Server """ class DaemonServer(Daemon): def run(self): s = Server() s.run() if __name__ == "__main__": d = DaemonServer('/var/servers/fserver.pid') if len(sys.argv) == 2: if 'start' == sys.argv[1]: d.start() elif 'stop' == sys.argv[1]: d.stop() elif 'restart' == sys.argv[1]: d.restart() else: print "Unknown command" sys.exit(2) sys.exit(0) else: print "usage: %s start|stop|restart" % sys.argv[0] sys.exit(2)

  • JAVA image transfer problem

    - by user579098
    Hi, I have a school assignment, to send a jpg image,split it into groups of 100 bytes, corrupt it, use a CRC check to locate the errors and re-transmit until it eventually is built back into its original form. It's practically ready, however when I check out the new images, they appear with errors.. I would really appreciate if someone could look at my code below and maybe locate this logical mistake as I can't understand what the problem is because everything looks ok :S For the file with all the data needed including photos and error patterns one could download it from this link:http://rapidshare.com/#!download|932tl2|443122762|Data.zip|739 Thanks in advance, Stefan p.s dont forget to change the paths in the code for the image and error files package networks; import java.io.*; // for file reader import java.util.zip.CRC32; // CRC32 IEEE (Ethernet) public class Main { /** * Reads a whole file into an array of bytes. * @param file The file in question. * @return Array of bytes containing file data. * @throws IOException Message contains why it failed. */ public static byte[] readFileArray(File file) throws IOException { InputStream is = new FileInputStream(file); byte[] data=new byte[(int)file.length()]; is.read(data); is.close(); return data; } /** * Writes (or overwrites if exists) a file with data from an array of bytes. * @param file The file in question. * @param data Array of bytes containing the new file data. * @throws IOException Message contains why it failed. */ public static void writeFileArray(File file, byte[] data) throws IOException { OutputStream os = new FileOutputStream(file,false); os.write(data); os.close(); } /** * Converts a long value to an array of bytes. * @param data The target variable. * @return Byte array conversion of data. * @see http://www.daniweb.com/code/snippet216874.html */ public static byte[] toByta(long data) { return new byte[] { (byte)((data >> 56) & 0xff), (byte)((data >> 48) & 0xff), (byte)((data >> 40) & 0xff), (byte)((data >> 32) & 0xff), (byte)((data >> 24) & 0xff), (byte)((data >> 16) & 0xff), (byte)((data >> 8) & 0xff), (byte)((data >> 0) & 0xff), }; } /** * Converts a an array of bytes to long value. * @param data The target variable. * @return Long value conversion of data. * @see http://www.daniweb.com/code/snippet216874.html */ public static long toLong(byte[] data) { if (data == null || data.length != 8) return 0x0; return (long)( // (Below) convert to longs before shift because digits // are lost with ints beyond the 32-bit limit (long)(0xff & data[0]) << 56 | (long)(0xff & data[1]) << 48 | (long)(0xff & data[2]) << 40 | (long)(0xff & data[3]) << 32 | (long)(0xff & data[4]) << 24 | (long)(0xff & data[5]) << 16 | (long)(0xff & data[6]) << 8 | (long)(0xff & data[7]) << 0 ); } public static byte[] nextNoise(){ byte[] result=new byte[100]; // copy a frame's worth of data (or remaining data if it is less than frame length) int read=Math.min(err_data.length-err_pstn, 100); System.arraycopy(err_data, err_pstn, result, 0, read); // if read data is less than frame length, reset position and add remaining data if(read<100){ err_pstn=100-read; System.arraycopy(err_data, 0, result, read, err_pstn); }else // otherwise, increase position err_pstn+=100; // return noise segment return result; } /** * Given some original data, it is purposefully corrupted according to a * second data array (which is read from a file). • Firefox Extension Socket Transport

    - by Nathan
    Hey, I'm making a firefox extension and I'm currently trying to get it to send XML data over a local socket to another application that's listening on that socket. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong in this? Its probably something simple and I'm just having a monday. Thanks. socketConn: function() { var httpLoc = window.top.getBrowser(). selectedBrowser.contentWindow.location.href; var outputData = '<?xml version="1.0"?>' + '<site_data>' + '<session_id></session_id>' + 'site_url>' + httpLoc + '</site_url>' + '<mime_type></mime_type>' + '<data_file>' + filePath + '</data_file>' + '<capture_mode></capture_mode>' + '</site_data>\n'; var transportService = Cc["@mozilla.org/network/socket-transport-service;1"] .getService(Ci.nsISocketTransportService); var transport = transportService.createTransport(["starttls"], 1,"localhost",currentPort, null); var outstream = transport.openOutputStream(0, 0, 0); outstream.write(outputData, outputData.length); var stream = transport.openInputStream(0, 0, 0); var instream = Cc["@mozilla.org/scriptableinputstream;1"] .createInstance(Ci.nsIScriptableInputStream); instream.init(stream); var dataListener = { data : "", onStartRequest: function(request, context){}, onStopRequest: function(request, context, status){ instream.close(); outstream.close(); }, onDataAvailable: function(request, context, inputStream, offset, count){ this.data += instream.read(count); }, };//end dataListener var pump = Cc["@mozilla.org/network/input-stream-pump;1"] .createInstance(Ci.nsIInputStreamPump); pump.init(stream, -1, -1, 0, 0, false); pump.asyncRead(dataListener, null); }//end socketConn Please ask questions about this if you don't understand what I'm trying to do with this.

  • Bring Winforms control to front

    - by Nathan
    Are there any other methods of bringing a control to the front other than control.BringToFront()? I have series of labels on a user control and when I try to bring one of them to front it is not working. I have even looped through all the controls and sent them all the back except for the one I am interested in and it doesn't change a thing. Here is the method where a label is added to the user control private void AddUserLabel() { UserLabel field = new UserLabel(); ++fieldNumber; field.Name = "field" + fieldNumber.ToString(); field.Top = field.FieldTop + fieldNumber; field.Left = field.FieldLeft + fieldNumber; field.Height = field.FieldHeight; field.Width = field.FieldWidth; field.RotationAngle = field.FieldRotation; field.Barcode = field.BarCoded; field.HumanReadable = field.HumanReadable; field.Text = field.FieldText; field.ForeColor = Color.Black; field.MouseDown += new MouseEventHandler(label_MouseDown); field.MouseUp += new MouseEventHandler(label_MouseUp); field.MouseMove += new MouseEventHandler(label_MouseMove); userContainer.Controls.Add(field); SendLabelsToBack(); //Send All labels to back userContainer.Controls[field.FieldName].BringToFront(); } Here is the method that sends all of them to the back. private void SendLabelsToBack() { foreach (UserLabel lbl in userContainer.Controls) { lbl.SendToBack(); } }

  • PHP doesn't properly URL-decode POST values, or is the bug somewhere else?

    - by Vilx-
    I have a PHP website that integrates with PayPal. As part of it's normal operation it sends a POST request to a user defined URL about every transaction (and some other events). It's called IPN for those who know. All was/is working just fine, until we moved to a new hosting provider last week. This naturally resulted in downtime, changing DNS entries, PHP misconfigurations, etc. In short - PayPal was unable to send the notifications for a few days. Now, this is not that bad, because there is an option just for that - you can log into PayPal, go to the appropriate menu item, and have it resend the failed notifications. Which we did, and it resulted in over 400 error emails. The problem is that normally the email of the receiver ($_POST['business']) is received by PHP as [email protected], but when resending it comes out as my%40business.com. And the request validation goes crazy. Obviously either something somewhere is missing a call to urldecode() or something is doing one too many urlencode(). But who? Is this a bug in PHP? I've never had such a problem before, not with any POST data ever. Perhaps PayPal has a bug? Wouldn't be surprising, but then this should have been caught ages ago. Or perhaps I'm doing something wrong and I should really be calling the urldecode() myself?

    Hi everyone,I'm programming an application who must send coordinate and request to a WebServices this is my code: private String SOAP_ACTION = "getAllPositions"; private String METHOD_NAME = "getAllPositions"; private String NAMESPACE = "http://session/"; private static final String URL ="http://192.41.218.56:8080/WSGeoEAR-WSGeoServer/NavFinderBean?WSDL"; /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle icicle) { super.onCreate(icicle); setContentView(R.layout.main); SoapObject request = new SoapObject(NAMESPACE, METHOD_NAME); request.addProperty("idUtente",1); SoapSerializationEnvelope envelope = new SoapSerializationEnvelope(SoapEnvelope.VER11); envelope.dotNet = true; envelope.setOutputSoapObject(request); AndroidHttpTransport androidHttpTransport = new AndroidHttpTransport(URL); androidHttpTransport.setXmlVersionTag("<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\"?>"); androidHttpTransport.debug = true; try{ androidHttpTransport.call(SOAP_ACTION, envelope); SoapObject resultsRequestSOAP = (SoapObject) envelope.bodyIn; ArrayList<position> resultData = (ArrayList<position>)resultsRequestSOAP.getProperty("getAllPositionsResponse"); for(position p : resultData) { ((TextView)findViewById(R.id.lblStatus)).setText(p.getAllInformation()); } } catch(Exception E) { ((TextView)findViewById(R.id.lblStatus)).setText("ERROR:" + E.getClass().getName() + ": " + E.getMessage()); } } } I've also create a class position. It doesn't work,can someone help me?Thanks

  • Best practices for class-mapping with SoapClient

    - by Foofy
    Using SoapClient's class mapping feature and it's pretty sweet. Unfortunately the SOAP service we're using has a bunch of read-only properties on some of the objects and will throw faults if the properties are passed back as anything but null. Need to filter out the properties before they're used in the SOAP call and am looking for advice on the best way to do it. So far the options are: Stick to a convention where I use getter and setter functions to manipulate the properties, and use property overloading to filter method access since only SoapClient would be doing that. E.g. developers would access properties like this: $obj->getAccountNumber() SoapClient would access properties like this: $obj->accountNumber I don't like this because the properties are still exposed and things could go wrong if developers don't stick to convention. Have a wrapper for SoapClient that sets a public property the mapped objects can check to see if the property is being accessed by SoapClient. I already have a wrapper that assigns a reference to itself to all the mapped objects. class SoapClientWrapper { public function __soapCall($method, $args) { $this->setSoapMode(true); $this->_soapClient->__soapCall($method, $args); $this->setSoapMode(false); } } class Invoice { function __get($val) { if($this->_soapClient->getSoapMode()) { return null; } else { return $this->$val; } } } This works but it doesn't feel right and seems a bit clunky. Do the mapping manually, and don't use SoapClient's mapping features. I'd just have a function on all the mapped objects that returns the safe-to-send properties. Also, nobody would have access to properties they shouldn't since I could enforce getters and setters. A lot more work, though.

  • Using Java Executor on AppEngine causes AccessControlException

    - by Drew
    How do you get java.util.concurrent.Executor or CompletionService to work on Google AppEngine? The classes are all officially white-listed, but I get a runtime security error when trying to submit asynchronous tasks. Code: // uses the async API but this factory makes it so that tasks really // happen sequentially Executor executor = java.util.concurrent.Executors.newSingleThreadExecutor(); // wrap Executor in CompletionService CompletionService<String> completionService = new ExecutorCompletionService<String>(executor); final SomeTask someTask = new SomeTask(); // this line throws exception completionService.submit(new Callable<String>(){ public String call() { return someTask.doNothing("blah"); } }); // alternately, send Runnable task directly to Executor, // which also throws an exception executor.execute(new Runnable(){ public void run() { someTask.doNothing("blah"); } }); } private class SomeTask{ public String doNothing(String message){ return message; } } Exception: java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.lang.RuntimePermission modifyThreadGroup) at java.security.AccessControlContext.checkPermission(AccessControlContext.java:323) at java.security.AccessController.checkPermission(AccessController.java:546) at java.lang.SecurityManager.checkPermission(SecurityManager.java:532) at com.google.appengine.tools.development.DevAppServerFactory$CustomSecurityManager.checkPermission(DevAppServerFactory.java:166) at com.google.appengine.tools.development.DevAppServerFactory$CustomSecurityManager.checkAccess(DevAppServerFactory.java:191) at java.lang.ThreadGroup.checkAccess(ThreadGroup.java:288) at java.lang.Thread.init(Thread.java:332) at java.lang.Thread.(Thread.java:565) at java.util.concurrent.Executors$DefaultThreadFactory.newThread(Executors.java:542) at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor.addThread(ThreadPoolExecutor.java:672) at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor.addIfUnderCorePoolSize(ThreadPoolExecutor.java:697) at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor.execute(ThreadPoolExecutor.java:652) at java.util.concurrent.Executors$DelegatedExecutorService.execute(Executors.java:590) at java.util.concurrent.ExecutorCompletionService.submit(ExecutorCompletionService.java:152) This code works fine when run on Tomcat or via command-line JVM. However, it chokes in the AppEngine SDK Jetty container (tried with Eclipse plugin and the maven-gae-plugin). AppEngine is likely designed to not allow potentially dangerous programs to run, so I could see them completely disabling thread creation. However, why would Google allow you to create a class, but not allow you to call methods on it? White-listing java.util.concurrent is misleading. Is there some other way to do parallel/simultaneous/concurrent tasks on GAE?

  • Dynamically loading sub-trees into YUI Treeview

    - by user319399
    When you create a YUI TreeView instance, you can pass in an object that represents an entire tree, and it will automatically build up the TextNodes for you. I'd like to send in a partial tree, such that the tree only goes, say, 2 levels deep, and anything deeper than that will invoke dynamic loading. I've got that much working. Now for the interesting part. In the dynamic loading callback I give to my tree instance, I want to again be able to just give YUI a big object representing more of the tree. I want to do something like this: // data is a array of objects organized into a tree, with some nodes requiring dynamic loading when they are navigated to tree = new YAHOO.widget.TreeView("treeDiv1", data); tree.setDynamicLoad(loadDataForNode); function loadDataForNode(node, onCompleteCallback) { if(node.children.length==0) { var subTree = { "label":"Cars", isLeaf:false, children:[ { "label":"Chevy", isLeaf:true }, { "label":"Ford", isLeaf:true }, ] }; // doesn't work, even though it has the required "label" field var tempNode = new YAHOO.widget.TextNode(subTree, node, true); } onCompleteCallback(); } Is this possible? Or do I have to iterate over all the nodes in my subtree and construct individual TextNodes for each one? Thanks much...

  • Forwarding an email with python smtplib

    - by robbles
    I'm trying to put together a script that automatically forwards certain emails that match a specific criteria to another email. I've got the downloading and parsing of messages using imaplib and email working, but I can't figure out how to forward an entire email to another address. Do I need to build a new message from scratch, or can I somehow modify the old one and re-send it? Here's what I have so far (client is an imaplib.IMAP4 connection, and id is a message ID): status, data = client.fetch(id, '(RFC822)') email_body = data[0][1] mail = email.message_from_string(email_body) # ...Process message... # This doesn't work forward = email.message.Message() forward.set_payload(mail.get_payload()) forward['From'] = '[email protected]' forward['To'] = '[email protected]' smtp.sendmail(user, ['[email protected]'], forward.as_string()) I'm sure there's something slightly more complicated I need to be doing with regard to the MIME content of the message. Surely there's some simple way of just forwarding the entire message though? # This doesn't work either, it just freezes...? mail['From'] = '[email protected]' mail['To'] = '[email protected]' smtp.sendmail(user, ['[email protected]'], mail.as_string())

  • General question about DirectShow.NET, DirectShow and Windows Media Format

    - by Paul Andrews
    I searched and googled for an answer but couldn't find one. Basically I'm developing a webcam/audio streaming application which should capture audio and video from a pc (usb webcam/microphone) and send them to a receiving server. What the server will do with that it's another story and phase two (which I'm skipping for now) I wrote some code using DirectShow and Windows Media Format and it worked great for capture audio/video and sending them to another client, but there's a major problem: latency. Everywhere in the internet everyone gave me the same answer: "sorry dude but media format isn't for video conferencing, their codecs have too high latency". I thought I could skip the .wmv problems but seems like it's not possible to do... this road ends here then. So I saw a few examples with DirectShow.NET which were faster for both audio and video.. my question is: how come that DirectShow.NET is faster and better for video/audio conferencing? Shouldn't it be just a .NET porting of C++'s DirectShow? Am I missing something? I'm a bit confused at this point

  • Can I make a "TCP packet modifier" using tun/tap and raw sockets?

    - by benhoyt
    I have a Linux application that talks TCP, and to help with analysis and statistics, I'd like to modify the data in some of the TCP packets that it sends out. I'd prefer to do this without hacking the Linux TCP stack. The idea I have so far is to make a bridge which acts as a "TCP packet modifier". My idea is to connect to the application via a tun/tap device on one side of the bridge, and to the network card via raw sockets on the other side of the bridge. My concern is that when you open a raw socket it still sends packets up to Linux's TCP stack, and so I couldn't modify them and send them on even if I wanted to. Is this correct? A pseudo-C-code sketch of the bridge looks like: tap_fd = open_tap_device("/dev/net/tun"); raw_fd = open_raw_socket(); for (;;) { select(fds = [tap_fd, raw_fd]); if (FD_ISSET(tap_fd, &fds)) { read_packet(tap_fd); modify_packet_if_needed(); write_packet(raw_fd); } if (FD_ISSET(raw_fd, &fds)) { read_packet(raw_fd); modify_packet_if_needed(); write_packet(tap_fd); } } Does this look possible, or are there other better ways of achieving the same thing? (TCP packet bridging and modification.)

  • SDL_image/C++ OpenGL Program: IMG_Load() produces fuzzy images

    - by Kami
    I'm trying to load an image file and use it as a texture for a cube. I'm using SDL_image to do that. I used this image because I've found it in various file formats (tga, tif, jpg, png, bmp) The code : SDL_Surface * texture; //load an image to an SDL surface (i.e. a buffer) texture = IMG_Load("/Users/Foo/Code/xcode/test/lena.bmp"); if(texture == NULL){ printf("bad image\n"); exit(1); } //create an OpenGL texture object glGenTextures(1, &textureObjOpenGLlogo); //select the texture object you need glBindTexture(GL_TEXTURE_2D, textureObjOpenGLlogo); //define the parameters of that texture object //how the texture should wrap in s direction glTexParameteri(GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL_TEXTURE_WRAP_S, GL_REPEAT); //how the texture should wrap in t direction glTexParameteri(GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL_TEXTURE_WRAP_T, GL_REPEAT); //how the texture lookup should be interpolated when the face is smaller than the texture glTexParameteri(GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL_TEXTURE_MIN_FILTER, GL_LINEAR); //how the texture lookup should be interpolated when the face is bigger than the texture glTexParameteri(GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL_TEXTURE_MAG_FILTER, GL_LINEAR); //send the texture image to the graphic card glTexImage2D(GL_TEXTURE_2D, 0, GL_RGBA, texture->w, texture->h, 0, GL_RGB, GL_UNSIGNED_BYTE, texture-> pixels); //clean the SDL surface SDL_FreeSurface(texture); The code compiles without errors or warnings ! I've tired all the files formats but this always produces that ugly result : I'm using : SDL_image 1.2.9 & SDL 1.2.14 with XCode 3.2 under 10.6.2 Does anyone knows how to fix this ?

  • How to have Android Service communicate with Activity

    - by Scott Saunders
    I'm writing my first Android application and trying to get my head around communication between services and activities. I have a Service that will run in the background and do some gps and time based logging. I will have an Activity that will be used to start and stop the Service. So first, I need to be able to figure out if the Service is running when the Activity is started. There are some other questions here about that, so I think I can figure that out (but feel free to offer advice). My real problem: if the Activity is running and the Service is started, I need a way for the Service to send messages to the Activity. Simple Strings and integers at this point - status messages mostly. The messages will not happen regularly, so I don't think polling the service is a good way to go if there is another way. I only want this communication when the Activity has been started by the user - I don't want to start the Activity from the Service. In other words, if you start the Activity and the Service is running, you will see some status messages in the Activity UI when something interesting happens. If you don't start the Activity, you will not see these messages (they're not that interesting). It seems like I should be able to determine if the Service is running, and if so, add the Activity as a listener. Then remove the Activity as a listener when the Activity pauses or stops. Is that actually possible? The only way I can figure out to do it is to have the Activity implement Parcelable and build an AIDL file so I can pass it through the Service's remote interface. That seems like overkill though, and I have no idea how the Activity should implement writeToParcel() / readFromParcel(). Is there an easier or better way? Thanks for any help.
