• Execute a PyQt app from an acpi event in linux

  Hi, I want to use a PyQt application to display an image when some acpi event is triggered under linux. I already setting up the configuration for the event and the python scrip is executed when the event is triggered, but when program reach the creation of the QApplication app = QApplication(sys.argv) it stops without error. I tried setting up the same DISPLAY and PATH environment variables as my current user but it doesn't work. This is my event file: event=sony/hotkey SNC 00000001 00000011 action=/etc/acpi/vaio-tools/brightness/sonybright.sh up 2>&1>/tmp/vaio-tools_brightness.log I tried to find some error in the /tmp/vaio-tools_brightness.log but it doesn't log anything after it reach the QApp creation in code. any hints??

• Out of the box approach to upload XML file to the BIRT Server for Processing

  Hello, I have the BIRT Report Server configured in TOMCAT and it works fine when running reports that require an XML datasource, but that XML file has be available on the network in order for the server to find it and run. Is there an out of the box configuration in the BIRT server that will prompt the user to upload the XML file directly to the server when they try to run a given report that requires an XML data source? This would be handy for users that have the XML datasource stored locally on their C drive and not have to move them to a network server in order to be read by BIRT. Thanks in advance. Paul

  'm using to Exhibit to, pretty simply, display some data on historical events and book publication dates: http://f1shw1ck.com/timeline3/exhibit.html Everything works fine, and I have been able to get the timeline running as wanted, until I try to take control of the timeline with a timelineConfig script. After I add this, my timeline continues to work as expected on all browsers, except for IE. Curiously enough, band 0 initializes and is rendered correctly, but band 1 shows no events and does not sync to the band above. But it is picking up the width: 10%", intervalUnit: Timeline.DateTime.DECADE, intervalPixels: 60 specifications, as they are rendered correctly. Since everything works until I call ex:configuration="timelineConfig", since everything works in the other browsers, and since everything almost works in IE, up to the event painting, I have to imagine this is a javascript coding error on my part, but I just can't see it. All I get in my console is Failed to create view View As Timeline." Incidentally, having or not having the gotoYear function seemingly does nothing to change... Thanks for any tips.

  I wrote some sort of console client for a simple application. To be more flexible, I thought it would be nice to only depend on java.io.Input-/OutputStream, instead of accessing System.in/out directly. I renamed the class ConsoleClient to StreamClient, added setters and made sure that the instance fields are used instead of System.in/out. At the moment my client code looks like this: ApplicationContext appCtx = new ClassPathXmlApplicationContext("..."); StreamClient cc = (StreamClient) appCtx.getBean("streamClient"); cc.setInputStream(System.in); cc.setOutputStream(System.out); cc.run(); // start client Question: Is there a way to move lines 3 and 4 into the Spring configuration (preferably constructor injection)? • Reinstall TeamCity when Tomcat becomes corrupt

  I've got a TeamCity 4 installation where tomcat has bit the dust with the following error "The APR Based Apache Tomcat Native library which allows for optimal performance in production environments was not found in java.library path". It appears this started happening once the JDK was installed on the server to allow for a compile. The JDK has been removed and the JRE reinstalled but still no go. My question is should I reinstall TeamCity completely or is there a way to simply reinstall tomcat so I don't hose the configuration? Your help is greatly appreciated.

• Can I turn off an Apache Directive then turn it on in an include?

  I have a VirtualHost block that includes common configuration items, one directive is ProxyPreserveHost. Can I "procedurally" turn off ProxyPreserveHost for a Rewrite directive then have the include turn it back on? For example: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName www.blah.com ... ... ProxyPreserveHost off RewriteRule /somepath http://otherhost/otherpath [P] Include /path/to/file/turning-on-ProxyPreserveHost </VirtualHost> The otherhost is on a CDN and preserving the host is creating some name resolution issue that is not allowing the proxying of content in the host namespace. ProxyReserveHost is only allowed in a Server Config or VirtualHost. It doesn't look like I can selectively turn it off for the ProxyPass and ProxyPassReverse directives (encapsulated in the proxy flag of mod_rewrite).

• MembershipUser class CreateUser password paramter

  I'm using the ASP.NET Configuration for my users and their roles. I'm also using the MembershipUser class with its function CreateUser. I have it working, but was curious about something. When I add a new user and pass this function its password parameter (which in this case is coming from a textbox on the page). It seems like it only finds and accepts that textbox value when it is 6 chars or more. For example, if I type in ab123 it'll say object not set to instance of an object. However if I do abc123 it works fine. Where is that being told to do that. I didn't know if this was something I could change or where it might be doing that. Thanks.

I configured everything correct except AboutUs and ContactUs pages. Since I am denying all users in authorization section, application is redirecting even if the customer browse AboutUs and ContactUs pages.   I am using SQLite as my db during development, and I want to postpone actually creating a final database until my domains are fully mapped. This is accessed through project properties configuration manager menu. I would like to know if this feature is the same in the professional version and the express edition of MVS 2010 in terms of speed optimization. I have the express edition. Also, I would like to know if C programs run with the same speed as in both the professional and express editions.   As discussed here, I'm trying to add a WCF endpoint-extension; I've got it working, but I need to include the full assembly details: <extensions> <behaviorExtensions> <add name="protobuf" type="ProtoBuf.ServiceModel.ProtoBehaviorExtension, protobuf-net, Version=1.0.0.275, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=257b51d87d2e4d67"/> </behaviorExtensions> </extensions> What I would like to do (to avoid issues when updating etc, especially for samples) is to include just the names: <add name="protobuf" type="ProtoBuf.ServiceModel.ProtoBehaviorExtension, protobuf-net"/> (which is what you might expect from standard assembly-naming conventions) However, if I do this, I get a big error: Parser Error Message: An error occurred creating the configuration section handler for system.serviceModel/behaviors: Extension element 'protobuf' cannot be added to this element. Verify that the extension is registered in the extension collection at system.serviceModel/extensions/behaviorExtensions. Is it possible (and if so: how) to add an extension without having to specify the assembly-version?

  I'm setting up a functional test suite for an application that loads an external configuration file. Right now, I'm using flexunit's addAsync function to load it and then again to test if the contents point to services that exist and can be accessed. The trouble with this is that having this kind of two (or more) stage method means that I'm running all of my tests in the context of one test with dozens of asserts, which seems like a kind of degenerate way to use the framework, and makes bugs harder to find. Is there a way to have something like an asynchronous setup? Is there another testing framework that handles this better?

So suppose that we have 2 Actions ActionA and get_menu Action The jsp page for the result of ActionA calls get_menu to generate the menus. So suppose that ActionA sets a variable groups and get_menu also uses a groups variable... ActionA's variable will overtake get_menu's variable. I tried many solutions and even jsp:inculde doesnt help:(...

• Find workspace location using ANT

  I'm working on a build script in the Flash Builder version of Eclipse. This build script needs to import launch configuration .launch files into the user's workspace. However there doesn't seem to be an available ANT var for determining the workspace location. While stepping through the available vars with intellisense I noticed that ${osgi.instance.area} does point to my current workspace but when I tried to echo it back in a running ant script it just spat out "${osgi.instance.area}" and not the path. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!

  I have yet to find a way of setting up Python logging with Django that I'm happy with. My requirements are fairly simple: Different log handlers for different events - that is, I want to be able to log to different files Easy access to loggers in my modules. The module should be able to find its logger with little effort. Should be easily applicable to command-line modules. Parts of the system are stand-alone command line or daemon processes. Logging should be easily usable with these modules. My current setup is to use a logging.conf file and setup logging in each module I log from. It doesn't feel right. Do you have a logging setup that you like? Please detail it: how do you setup the configuration (do you use logging.conf or set it up in code), where/when do you initiate the loggers, and how do you get access to them in your modules, etc.

• How can I easily make a java application invisible to the user?

  Hello! I have developed a Java aplication that is currently being run by double-clicking on a ".bat" file that does something like "java -jar proy.jar". This application just listens on a port and writes to a database, so it does not have any user interface (such as a window). I need this application to run as in background mode, or as it where a service, but I don't really anything more than that. It's enough if the application is run in a way that is not noticeable by the user, so that the user is not bothered and so the application can not be mistakenly closed. By the way, this will be run on an specific computer so it's okay if I have to do any manual configuration ir order to make this work. Also, I need this application to run on startup. • Defining Makefiles variables from a script

  I am creating a Makefile which I want it to be a single file for different architectures, OSes, libraries, etc. To do this I have a build specific XML file which defines the different configuration options for each architecture. The config file is read by Perl (it could be any language) and the Perl output returns something like: var1 := var1_value var2 := var2_value var3 := var3_value What I am trying to do is define this variables in my Makefile. From the makefile I am calling my readconfig script and it is giving the correct output, but I have not been able to get this variables as part of my Makefile. I have tried the use of eval and value, but none of them have work (although it could be an issue of me not knowing how to use them. In overall what I am trying to do is something like: read_config: $(eval (perl '-require "readConfig.pl"')) @echo $(var1) It could be assumed I am using only GNU Make behavior. Things I could not change: Config file is on XML Using Perl as a XML parser

• Multiple Grails Applications create Ehcache conflicts

  I am running multiple Grails Applications on one of my servers. I am using Grails 1.2.2. I am using the default cache configuration in DataSource.groovy. When I try and run two Grails applications, they both seem to be using/writing to: /tmp/org.hibernate.cache.UpdateTimestampsCache.data When I look at how to customize Ehcache with an ehcache.xml file from this page: http://ehcache.org/documentation/grails.html I do not see any information about specifying the locations and/or names or temporary files. How do I avoid this issue when running multiple Grails applications on the same server (without turning off the cache)?

• How do I integrate ActiveMQ with a HornetQ ESB (or access the HornetQ directly from C#)?

  I've got an ActiveMQ ESB that I am using between several C# assemblies across a couple different systems. I need to start receiving notifications being sent out by a new system from it's HornetQ ESB. As far as I can tell the HornetQ is pre-2.0.0GA. I'd like to just use Camel to set up routing between the HornetQ ESB and my ActiveMQ ESB, but so far we haven't been able to get even that far. I'm not sure how much flexibility I've got to change the HornetQ configuration (say to add support for StompConnect or something like that). Does anyone of a viable option for getting access to the HornetQ ESB through ActiveMQ (or directly from C# if necessary)?

  A follow-up on this system management question: Since I probably will not get much feedback on serverfault I'll give it a try here. My main concern is to reflect the dependencies between the databases, services ans tasks/jobs I'll have to manage. Besides considering Powershell, I even thought about using MSBuild because it would allow for modeling dependencies and reuse configuration targets. In other words: What technology should I use to develop a flexible solution that will allow me to stop service A, B and C on machine D in the right order and disable task E on machine F when taking down database X?

• Default Accessor Needed: Custom ConfigurationSection

  I am totally confused by a simple Microsoft error message. When I run XSD.exe against an assembly that contains a custom ConfigurationSection (which in turn utilizes a custom ConfigurationElement and a custom ConfigurationElementCollection, as well as several ConfigurationProperties), I get the following error message: Error: There was an error processing 'Olbert.Entity.Utils.dll'. There was an error reflecting type 'Olbert.Entity.DatabaseConnection'. You must implement a default accessor on System.Configuration.ConfigurationLockCollection because it inherits from ICollection. Yet the class in question has a default accessor: public object this[int idx] { get { return null; } set { } } I realize the above doesn't do anything, but I don't need to access the element's properties by index. I'm just trying to work around the error message. So what's going on?
