  • QuickGraph - is there algorithm for find all parents (up to root vertex's) of a set of vertex's

    - by Greg
    Hi, In QuickGraph - is there algorithm for find all parents (up to root vertex's) of a set of vertex's. In other words all vertex's which have somewhere under them (on the way to the leaf nodes) one or more of the vertexs input. So if the vertexs were Nodes, and the edges were a depends on relationship, find all nodes that would be impacted by a given set of nodes. If not how hard is it to write one's own algorithms?

  • aspnet_regsql questions and users and role

    - by Alexander
    I spend quite some hours banging my head against the wall trying to set up the aspnet membership / roles tables in my SQL server database instead of having them exist inside the App_Code/ASPNETDB.MDF file because that file wasn't working correctly on my host. I eventually figured out the problem by following Scott's gu here and was able to resolve it by running the aspnet_regsql.exe utility and creating a connection string for LocalSqlServer. The ridiculous part about it is that after running the aspnet_regsql and upload my database to my webhost all of my users and role that I have already created is gone. The user, membership, role, etc is gone. I can't populate this using the Web Site Administration Tool as it's not visual studio now. So what is the easiest way to populate the user, role, etc to my SQL Server as I now have dbo.aspnet_Application, dbo.aspnet_Paths, dbo.aspnet_Roles, etc...etc...

  • Giving proper credit to a projects contributors

    - by Greg B
    I've recently been working with an opensource library for a commercial product. The opensource code is distributed from the website of the company who sells the proprietary product as a zip file. The library is a (direct) port to C# of the original library which is in Java. As such, it uses methods instead of getter/setter properties. The code contains copyright notices to the supplier of the product. The C# port was originally provided to the company by a 3rd party individual. I have modified the source to be more C# like and added a couple of small features. I want to put my version of the code out there (Google code or where ever) so that C# users of the software can benefit from a more native feeling library. How can I and/or how should I amend the copyright notice to give proper credit to The comercial owner of the original source The guy who provided the original C# port Myself and anyone else who contributes to the project in the future The source is provided under the LGPL V2.1,

  • Easy way to keep counting up infinitely

    - by Andrew Alexander
    What's a good way to keep counting up infinitely? I'm trying to write a condition that will keep going until there's no value in a database, so it's going to iterate from 0, up to theoretically infinity (inside a try block, of course). How would I count upwards infinitely? Or should I use something else? I am looking for something similar to i++ in other languages, where it keeps iterating until failure.

  • What's a good jQuery ligthbox plugin that cycles through images? (like a carousel)

    - by Greg
    I'm looking for a jQuery lightbox plugin that has the ability to, with it's next and previous buttons, cycle through images repeatedly. Like a carousel effect. I've been using jQuery Lightbox Plugin (balupton edition) but that doesn't have the option to continue cycling through images. It reaches the last image in the array and then disables the 'next' button. So to save me some time coding, what are some plugins you can recommend?

  • How can I link in both remote and local assets into a webview?

    - by Greg
    I'm loading HTML-formatted content into my app from a web service, then plugging that into a local HTML template that lives within the app. Now, I need to set the UIWebView's BaseURL to point at the remote server so that all relative image links will load. However, I'm also trying to link in some local assets (CSS, JavaScript). Thus far, I have not found any documentation on how to link in local assets without relying on the UIWebView's baseURL. I've tried injecting the absolute file path of my CSS and JS into my HTML template, but it hasn't worked... I don't know if that means that it doesn't work, or if I'm just doing it wrong. Has anyone ever run into this scenario, and if so, how did you address it? Thanks in advance, I really appreciate any tips!

  • jQuery - How to Use slideDown (or show) function on a table row?

    - by Greg
    I'm trying to add a row to a table and have that row slide into view, however the slidedown function seems to be adding a display:block style to the table row which messes up the layout. Any ideas how to work around this? Here's the code: $.get('/some_url',{'val1':id}, function(data){ var row = $('#detailed_edit_row'); row.hide(); row.html(data); row.slideDown(1000); });

  • Modeling many-to-one with constraints?

    - by Greg Beech
    I'm attempting to create a database model for movie classifications, where each movie could have a single classification from each of one of multiple rating systems (e.g. BBFC, MPAA). This is the current design, with all implied PKs and FKs: TABLE Movie ( MovieId INT ) TABLE ClassificationSystem ( ClassificationSystemId TINYINT ) TABLE Classification ( ClassificationId INT, ClassificationSystemId TINYINT ) TABLE MovieClassification ( MovieId INT, ClassificationId INT, Advice NVARCHAR(250) -- description of why the classification was given ) The problem is with the MovieClassification table whose constraints would allow multiple classifications from the same system, whereas it should ideally only permit either zero or one classifications from a given system. Is there any reasonable way to restructure this so that a movie having exactly zero or one classifications from any given system is enforced by database constraints, given the following requirements? Do not duplicate information that could be looked up (i.e. duplicating ClassificationSystemId in the MovieClassification table is not a good solution because this could get out of sync with the value in the Classification table) Remain extensible to multiple classification systems (i.e. a new classification system does not require any changes to the table structure)? Note also the Advice column - each mapping of a movie to a classification needs to have a textual description of why that classification was given to that movie. Any design would need to support this.

  • iPhone - customizing WebKit

    - by Greg
    Hello, Apple has disabled the overflow CSS aspect in mobile Safari so it is not possible to scroll inside a fixed height div. This is quite annoying. While making an iPhone native app, is it possible to access WebKit settings to turn that feature on ?

  • uploading database file in assets not returning a record

    - by Alexander
    I have a problem with a database file not being read I have added the database file in assets called mydb but when i run my code it says its not being located. It is calling this toast Toast.makeText(this, "No contact found", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show(); This is being called because no records are being returned. This is an example form Android Application Development book. public class DatabaseActivity extends Activity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ TextView quest, response1, response2; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); TextView quest = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.quest); try { String destPath = "/data/data/" + getPackageName() + "/databases/MyDB"; File f = new File(destPath); if (!f.exists()) { CopyDB( getBaseContext().getAssets().open("mydb"), new FileOutputStream(destPath)); } } catch (FileNotFoundException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } DBAdapter db = new DBAdapter(this); //---get a contact--- db.open(); Cursor c = db.getContact(2); if (c.moveToFirst()) DisplayContact(c); else Toast.makeText(this, "No contact found", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show(); db.close(); } public void CopyDB(InputStream inputStream, OutputStream outputStream) throws IOException { //---copy 1K bytes at a time--- byte[] buffer = new byte[1024]; int length; while ((length = inputStream.read(buffer)) > 0) { outputStream.write(buffer, 0, length); } inputStream.close(); outputStream.close(); } public void DisplayContact(Cursor c) { quest.setText(String.valueOf(c.getString(1))); //quest.setText(String.valueOf("this is a text string")); } }

  • Modify bash variables with sed

    - by Alexander Cska
    I am trying to modify a number of environmental variables containing predefined compiler flags. To do so, I tried using a bash loop that goes over all environmental variables listed with "env". for i in $(env | grep ipo | awk 'BEGIN {FS="="} ; { print $1 } ' ) do echo $(sed -e "s/-ipo/ / ; s/-axAVX/ /" <<< $i) done This is not working since the loop variable $i contains just the name of the environmental variable stored as a character string. I tried searching a method to convert a string into a variable but things started becoming unnecessary complicated. The basic problem is how to properly supply the environmental variable itself to sed. Any ideas how to properly modify my script are welcome. Thanks, Alex

  • How to teach Django to non-web programmers? [closed]

    - by Greg
    I've been tasked with providing a workshop for my co-workers to teach them Django. They're all good programmers but they've never done any web programming. I was thinking to just go through the Django tutorial with them, but are there things in there that wouldn't make sense to non-web programmers? Do they need any kind of webdev background first? Any thoughts on a good way to provide the basics so that Django will make sense?

  • Getting every nth Element of a Sequence

    - by Alexander Rautenberg
    I am looking for a way to create a sequence consisting of every nth element of another sequence, but don't seem to find a way to do that in an elegant way. I can of course hack something, but I wonder if there is a library function that I'm not seeing. The sequence functions whose names end in -i seem to be quite good for the purpose of figuring out when an element is the nth one or (multiple of n)th one, but I can only see iteri and mapi, none of which really lends itself to the task. Example: let someseq = [1;2;3;4;5;6] let partial = Seq.magicfunction 3 someseq Then partial should be [3;6]. Is there anything like it out there? Edit: If I am not quite as ambitious and allow for the n to be constant/known, then I've just found that the following should work: let rec thirds lst = match lst with | (_,_,x)::t -> x::thirds t | _ -> [] Would there be a way to write this shorter?

  • Why are some C#4 features allowed even when targeting 3.5?

    - by Greg
    We upgraded to VS 2010, but we haven't yet upgraded to .NET 4.0. All of our projects are still explicitly targeting 3.5. Today, a developer checked in code that looked like this: delegate T Generator<out T>(); As far as I know, "in T" and "out T" are C# 4.0 features. According to our build server, which doesn't have .NET 4.0 installed on it, I'm right. The check-in broke the build. But, why the heck does it build on his machine? Why is VS just ignoring the target framework for the project? Other C# 4.0 features, like the dynamic keyword, do not build on the developer's machine.

  • CommandName issues to insert to a database

    - by Alexander
    In the below code, when we define the parameters CommandName="Insert" is it actually the same as executing the method Insert? As I can't find Insert anywhere... <div class="actionbuttons"> <Club:RolloverButton ID="apply1" CommandName="Insert" Text="Add Event" runat="server" /> <Club:RolloverLink ID="Cancel" Text="Cancel" runat="server" NavigateURL='<%# "Events_view.aspx?EventID=" + Convert.ToString(Eval("ID")) %>' /> </div> I have the following SqlDataSource as well: <asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSource1" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:ClubSiteDB %>" SelectCommand="SELECT dbo.Events.id, dbo.Events.starttime, dbo.events.endtime, dbo.Events.title, dbo.Events.description, dbo.Events.staticURL, dbo.Events.photo, dbo.Events.location, dbo.Locations.title AS locationname FROM dbo.Events LEFT OUTER JOIN dbo.Locations ON dbo.Events.location = dbo.Locations.id where Events.id=@id" InsertCommand="INSERT INTO Events(starttime, endtime, title, description, staticURL, location, photo) VALUES (@starttime, @endtime, @title, @description, @staticURL, @location, @photo)" UpdateCommand="UPDATE Events SET starttime = @starttime, endtime=@endtime, title = @title, description = @description, staticURL = @staticURL, location = @location, photo = @photo WHERE (id = @id)" DeleteCommand="DELETE Events WHERE id=@id" OldValuesParameterFormatString="{0}"> <SelectParameters> <asp:QueryStringParameter Name="id" QueryStringField="ID" /> </SelectParameters> <UpdateParameters> <asp:Parameter Name="starttime" Type="DateTime" /> <asp:Parameter Name="endtime" Type="DateTime" /> <asp:Parameter Name="title" /> <asp:Parameter Name="description" /> <asp:Parameter Name="staticURL" /> <asp:Parameter Name="location" /> <asp:Parameter Name="photo" /> <asp:Parameter Name="id" /> </UpdateParameters> <InsertParameters> <asp:Parameter Name="starttime" Type="DateTime" /> <asp:Parameter Name="endtime" Type="DateTime" /> <asp:Parameter Name="title" /> <asp:Parameter Name="description" /> <asp:Parameter Name="staticURL" /> <asp:Parameter Name="location" /> <asp:Parameter Name="photo" /> <asp:Parameter Name="id" /> </InsertParameters> <DeleteParameters> <asp:QueryStringParameter Name="id" QueryStringField="ID" /> </DeleteParameters> </asp:SqlDataSource> I want it to insert using the InsertCommand, however when I do SqlDataSource1.Insert() it's complaining that starttime is NULL
