    Is there any Informix documentation for optimizing any operating system where an ifx engine is running? For example, in Linux, strip-down to a bare minimum all unnecessary binaries, daemons, utilities, tune kernel parameters, optimize raw and cooked devices (hdparm), place swap space on beginning tracks of a disk, etc. Someday, maybe, Informix can create its own proprietary and dedicated PICK-like O/S to provide the most optimized environment for a standalone ifx server? The general idea is for the OS where ifx sits on have the smallest footprint and lowest overhead impact.

  • Unable to Calculate Position within Owner-Draw Text

    I'm trying to use Visual Studio 2012 to create a Windows Forms application that can place the caret at the current position within a owner-drawn string. However, I've been unable to find a way to accurately calculate that position. I've done this successfully before in C++. I've now tried numerous methods in C#. Originally, I tried using .NET classes to determine the correct position, but then I tried accessing the Windows API directly. In some cases, I came close, but after some time I still cannot place the caret accurately. I've created a small test program and posted key parts below. I've also posted the entire project here. The exact font used is not important to me; however, my application assumes a mono-spaced font. Any help is appreciated.   • Books on OpenGL ES targeted towards the iPhone

    There are a few posts on this site about OpenGL and the iPhone. Some even on books but I think you'll find this question is a bit different. I've searched and searched and have come to the conclusion that there are currently no books that specifically cover OpenGL ES on the iPhone platform. There are books that cover OpenGL ES [2.0] (note: the linked book covers OpenGL ES 2.0 but the iPhone uses OpenGL ES 1.1 which, I understand, is not backward compatible)... but they only have a small section for the iPhone (if any). What I want to know, is if anybody knows of any books that are forthcoming that specifically cover OpenGL ES 1.1 on the iPhone?

  • Efective way to avoid integer overflow when multiplying?

    Hi, I'm working on a hash function which gets a string as input. Right now I'm doing a loop and inside the hash (an int variable) is being multiplied by a value and then the ASCII code for the current character is added to the mix. hash = hash * seed + string[i] But sometimes, if the string is big enough there is an integer overflow there, what can I do to avoid it while maintaining the same hash structure? Maybe a bit operation included inside the loop?

  • What does Indy's HandleRedirect do?

    I'm having some trouble reading files with Indy from a site that has WordPress installed. It appears that the site is configured to redirect all hits to sitename/com/wordpress. Can I use HandleRedirect to turn that off so I can read files from the root folder? What is the normal setting for this property? Any downsides to using it for this purpose? (Edit: it appears that my problem may be caused by Windows cacheing of a file I've accessed before through Indy. I'm using fIDHTTP.Request.CacheControl := 'no-cache'; is that adequate?

    I'm using tablesorter in on a table I added to a view in django's admin (although I'm not sure this is relevant).     I have some stylesheets from different sources in my web project. I want to harmonize them. Some styles I need from the one, some from the other. Is there a tool or method how to systematically resolve style conflicts? I tried IE8 developer tool, and yes, it is possible to view conflicts at the level of each element. But I have many elemens, so if I do it element by element I think this takes too long. Theoretically there could be a tool that shows conflicts of two css files at design time?!? I think this would save me a lot of time.

    I worked on a website for which I had a "development URL" that looked something like this: www.domainname.com.php5-9.dfw1-2.websitetestlink.com/ Now, several weeks after the website launch, there is at least one page of content indexed on Google with that URL. Question: How do I redirect all requests from that test URL to reroute to the actual domain? So, for instance, I would want: www.domainname.com.php5-9.dfw1-2.websitetestlink.com/page-name To go to: www.domainname.com/page-name The website is powered by WordPress and hosted on a PHP server. I've experimented with .htaccess without much success.

  • Google Chrome Application Mode: Possible to isolate multiple instances?

    I want to run multiple Google Chrome application windows logged into the same web site (Twitter.com, say), each with different credentials. Is this possible? If so, how? My initial testing shows that multiple Chrome app windows are not sufficiently isolated to do this. Logging into the second account logs me into the second account in both windows, suggesting that they are sharing information just as two Chrome tabs might.

  • I want to use VI-like commands in Web Browser?

    I love VI and I'm looking for a plugin of some sort that would allow me to input text in my browser (preferably Firefox or Chrome) using VI commands. It would save me an immense amount of time and at the same time when writing long emails. Can anyone think of any plugins that would allow me to do this? I was hopeful with Vimperator (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4891) but after installing it, I realized that it didn't do the one VI think I wanted to do: create or edit a text box with VI commands. It just allowed me to do Browser commands and scrolling in VI-style.

I think it might have something to do with iOS automatically choosing the @2x named version of images or vica versa.   • Spring.Net Message Selectors with compound statements don't seem to be working

    I'm using Spring.NET to connect to ActiveMQ and do some fairly simple pub sub routing. Everything works fine when my selector is a simple expression like Car='Honda' but if I try a compound expression like Car='Honda' AND Make='Pilot' I never get any matches on my subscription.
